Quick Transmigration: The Yandere CEO is Both Pampering and Seductive - Chapter 8
He quickly glanced at Lu Chenhan. Seeing that he had not noticed his failure, he clicked his mouse and started another round.
Playing until three o’clock in the afternoon, Song Chubai secretly glanced at Lu Chenhan again. Seeing that he was still immersed in his work, he quietly stood up.
The moment he took a single step, he heard Lu Chenhan’s low, sexy voice echo through the room.
“Where are you going?”
Song Chubai’s body stiffened, and he slowly turned around. His pretty face still retained a trace of joy at the prospect of walking out the door, which made Lu Chenhan chuckle inwardly.
“Where are you going?” He asked, repeating the question for a rare second time.
“To go to the restroom?” Song Chubai tested the waters with his reply.
Goodness knows he just wanted to step outside for some fresh air; otherwise, staying in this office was simply too boring.
Lu Chenhan pointed toward the left side of the office, where an independent washroom was located.
Meanwhile, the direction Song Chubai had been heading in was clearly aimed right at the main entrance. Anyone claiming to go to the restroom that way would hardly be believed.
Being exposed like that left Song Chubai feeling a little bit awkward.
He instinctively rubbed his nose and said in a small voice, “I wanted to go out for some fresh air.”
Lu Chenhan looked Song Chubai up and down without speaking.
Song Chubai felt a bit apprehensive inside. Did he see right through his little scheme?
He was just not accustomed to being around people, so he simply wanted to spend a moment in solitude.
Song Chubai lightly pressed his lips together, his hands, which had been hanging at his sides, gradually clenching into fists.
Fortunately, at that moment, the previously silent Lu Chenhan spoke up.
“Go ahead.”
He agreed.
Joy welled up in Song Chubai’s heart, and he hurriedly responded, “Mm-hm.”
No sooner had he replied than he could not wait to walk outside.
Lu Chenhan watched his retreating figure, his eyes flashing slightly as a dark glint swept through the depths of his gaze.
The tip of his black fountain pen swept heavily across the documents, unconsciously scribbling down a few words.
Look closer, and the three characters “Song Chubai,” written so fiercely they seemed about to pierce through the paper, leaped out from the page, looking as though they were being carved straight into Lu Chenhan’s mind.
After leaving Lu Chenhan’s office, Song Chubai instantly felt much more relaxed.
He took a deep breath and patted his chest. Sure enough, being alone was still the most comfortable state of being.
For the time being, he did not have to face Lu Chenhan, nor did he have to face the various department managers who came in to report on their work.
Song Chubai found a quiet, secluded corner to sit down and recover his mental energy.
Severe social phobias like his meant that interacting with others heavily drained their mental reserves, much like tossing numerous small stones into a calm lake and churning it into utter exhaustion.
Only when staying quietly by oneself could they truly enjoy peace.
Right now, Song Chubai was gathering the strength needed to continue living and completing his mission precisely through this solitude.
Before he knew it, he fell asleep leaning against the wall.
After some unknown length of time, soft, murmuring voices drifted into his ears.
“Did you hear that gossip? President Lu has taken a fancy to Song Chubai.”
“Saw it, tsk tsk. You have to admit Song Chubai is really lucky to actually catch President Lu’s eye.”
“If I had known this earlier, when he was still in our department, I would have treated him much better.”
“Who is to say otherwise?”
Song Chubai blinked his eyes open drowsily, looking toward the source of the sound in bewilderment.
He saw two men gossiping without a care in the world.
Because of the angle, those two people could not see that he was actually sitting right there in this corner, which was probably why they were being so uninhibited.
Song Chubai did not make a sound to interrupt them; instead, he listened to their conversation with even greater focus.
“I heard President Lu even moved Song Chubai right into his own office, tsk tsk.”
“Hey, do you think President Lu will do something special?”
At this point, the two of them exchanged identical smiles.
Song Chubai did not see the meaningful grins on their faces, as he was still waiting for the rest.
Yet the two of them stopped talking right there, turning around and leaving instead, leaving Song Chubai staring forward in confusion.
What would President Lu do? Surely, he would not make him give a speech in front of the entire company, right? That would truly be terrifying, and he was already starting to panic.
Song Chubai pressed his lips together lightly, stood up, and glanced at the time. Without realizing it, it was already close to five o’clock.
Does that mean it is time to get off work? Once work ends, he would not have to face so many people. At that thought, Song Chubai felt full of driving motivation.
He turned and walked back toward Lu Chenhan’s office.
When he returned to the office, Lu Chenhan was still processing documents. Hearing footsteps, he merely raised his gaze to look at Song Chubai for a moment before lowering his eyes to continue working.
Song Chubai obediently returned to his seat and glanced at the time in the bottom-right corner, which read 5:10 PM.
The other employees were leaving for home one after another, yet Lu Chenhan, the CEO, was still working overtime.
Is this what the world of normal people is like? Song Chubai thought with a sense of listless boredom, truly terrifying.
Just as his mind began to wander, Lu Chenhan beside him spoke up without any warning: “What are you thinking about?”
“Thinking about what you are going to do to me.” An unconsidered sentence slipped straight out of his mouth.
Lu Chenhan raised an eyebrow, the corners of his lips curving into a smile carrying a hint of meaningful intent.
“Oh?”
He stood up, his tall, imposing figure enveloping Song Chubai.
The light shone down upon him, casting a shadow over Song Chubai’s body.
Because of the height difference, Song Chubai could only tilt his head up to look at Lu Chenhan.
Facing away from the light, he could not make out the expression on the other’s face, with the illumination falling right behind him. In a daze, he seemed to have become the light itself.
Now, this light bent downward, hooking his chin and forcing him to keep looking straight into his eyes.
“What am I going to do to you?”
A low, sexy voice rang right beside Song Chubai’s ear.
He blinked, a look of bewilderment surfacing across his fair and delicate face.
“I do not know,” he answered honestly.
Yet in Lu Chenhan’s eyes, this honesty felt like a game of playing hard to get, a coy facade of feigned reluctance.
The corners of his lips curved up with a trace of amusement, and he leaned his upper body forward, closing the distance toward Song Chubai even further.
Nearing his ear almost directly, Lu Chenhan murmured in a low voice, “You do not know? You clearly desire it.”
His thumb stroked back and forth along Song Chubai’s jawline. “Weren’t you quite eloquent before?”
Talking about liking him, even holding his fountain pen to cure the sorrow of longing, so why are you playing hard to get with him now?
However…
“You have successfully caught my attention.”
He was rather curious to see what other tricks Song Chubai could possibly pull out.
Song Chubai blinked, an expression of sudden realization dawning on him.
So, this was the classic overbearing CEO dialogue. He had only ever heard similar complaints from the owners of dogs with stomach issues.
Phrases like “You have successfully caught my attention” or “You are mine.”
Song Chubai, who had previously thought these lines sounded somewhat cool, suddenly burst out laughing upon recalling those pet-owner complaints.
His smile was pure and radiant, almost dazzling enough to blur Lu Chenhan’s vision.
