Shi Lan walked over and cornered Miao Yang in a confined space. “Continue.”
This time, he lowered his head slightly. Miao Yang swallowed hard and continued to shave the man’s stubble. Once finished, Shi Lan walked over to the mirror to inspect his face. “Not bad.”
Miao Yang walked over and fawned, “My skills are top-notch, right, Brother Lan?”
Shi Lan glanced at him sideways, causing Miao Yang’s smile to vanish instantly. Shi Lan walked out after washing up, and Miao Yang silently spat behind his back. Suddenly, Shi Lan stopped in his tracks, startling Miao Yang, who immediately turned around and busied himself with washing his face in a panic. Shi Lan glanced back at the glass door, letting out a short laugh. This kid was interesting; he had a strange urge to break the boy’s legs, yet he could not bring himself to do it.
By the time Miao Yang finished washing up and went out, Shi Lan was gone. He let out a long sigh of relief. “Last night was so dangerous.”
168 remarked: 【It will get even more dangerous later.】
Miao Yang pouted. “You are my system. You do not help me avoid risks, and now you are just being cynical? That is too much.”
168: 【I am just telling the truth. Why do you not like hearing it? Wait until the protagonist shou marries in; I want to see how you talk your way out of that one.】
Miao Yang: “…” Fine, this system only knew how to poke at his insecurities instead of helping him find a solution.
Before he could argue further, the door was kicked open, startling him. Shi Lan walked in, carrying two loaves of bread, and tossed one to Miao Yang. Miao Yang caught it instinctively and grinned. “Thank you, Big Brother.”
Shi Lan sneered. Miao Yang glanced at the door, hoping it was not broken. Sigh, one must lower one’s head when under another’s roof. He had to walk on eggshells whenever Shi Lan was around. Miao Yang tore open the package and muttered, “No milk or anything?” Qin Yi would at least bring him warm water or fruit sometimes, but whenever Shi Lan returned, it was just bread.
Miao Yang sat on a small stool, stuffing his face with bread while silently wishing Shi Lan would leave soon. If he went on a mission for a few months, Miao Yang felt he could coast like this forever. Shi Lan ate his own bread; it was quick and convenient. He sat on the sofa, watching Miao Yang on the small stool, and suddenly laughed. Damn, Miao Yang… “Seedling.” He really is delicate, in every sense of the word.
Miao Yang had no idea what he was thinking, or he would have picked a fight with him despite the risk of death. He was choking on the bread and grabbed a drink from the fridge; it was cold, which he did not like. The room was essentially a basement; even when the sun shone in, it felt colder than other places. Miao Yang was already an invalid, so he did not dare drink anything cold. They limited his range of movement and provided no appliances; he had to rely on others for food, and if they forgot, he simply starved. He felt truly pathetic.
After finishing his bread, Shi Lan went to the wardrobe and changed into a sharper outfit. He looked tall, imposing, and incredibly cool. He scanned the wardrobe and threw a set of clothes at Miao Yang. “Put these on.” Miao Yang picked them up reluctantly: a light blue shirt and athletic shorts. They were too big, but they had an elastic waistband, so he tightened it and made do.
Shi Lan watched him change the entire time, making Miao Yang feel like he was having a nervous breakdown. Shi Lan looked at Miao Yang’s small frame and secretly wanted to laugh; his pale skin looked as if a light touch would leave a bruise. Having been cooped up in the room without sun, Miao Yang had become even paler. He followed Shi Lan out of the basement, feeling somewhat dazed.
“I feel like a missing person who was just rescued from captivity.”
168: 【You are much luckier than a missing person; you have nothing to worry about.】
He was being fed and sheltered. Miao Yang really disliked 168.
Walking out of the basement, he climbed up from the sunken courtyard to a massive yard, the open view revealing just how vast the Qin estate was. This was merely one of the auxiliary buildings. The main courtyard where Mr. Qin lived was even grander, filled with pavilions, winding corridors, and elegant gardens. Miao Yang only remembered a small gazebo; he had been too nervous, flustered, and dizzy to remember what the head of the house actually looked like.
Miao Yang was confused. “Where are we going, Brother Lan?” Shi Lan reached out and wrapped an arm around his waist. As he did, Miao Yang squirmed like a caterpillar. “Hahaha, that is so cheesy, hahaha!”
Shi Lan stared at him coldly, and Miao Yang immediately stopped, face flushing red. He tactfully hugged the man’s waist. “I am just your parasitic vine, hehe.” Shi Lan found the remark disgusting but seemed slightly less annoyed. He pinched Miao Yang’s soft, white cheek hard enough to leave a red mark, causing the youth’s expression to twist in pain.
Just then, a few men walked over. “Brother Lan.” They glanced at Miao Yang and exchanged subtle looks. Look at that, sticking to our Big Brother in broad daylight. What a shameless little seductress.
Shi Lan grunted and led Miao Yang and the others toward the training grounds. Miao Yang did not know why they were going there, but he followed close behind. He looked entirely out of place in his clean, light-blue outfit compared to the men in black T-shirts, vests, and shirts who looked like they were sculpted out of steel. He looked like a delicate wife among men.
The training ground was divided into sections, including a simple area for sparring. Qin Siyan naturally had more than one subordinate, but Shi Lan was his right-hand man. Shi Lan’s colleagues saw him walk in with a young man and wore mocking expressions. “Tsk, so you like playing with this kind of thing.” One of them had a cigarette in his mouth, his tone dripping with disdain. Liking men is so damn disgusting.
Shi Lan’s expression remained indifferent, and he even offered a slight, friendly smile. He crossed his arms and said softly, “Put out the cigarette. I do not want to smell your second-hand smoke.”
