- Chapter 10 - The "Green Tea" Sidekick to the Big Boss (10)
The man narrowed his eyes, meeting Shi Lan’s cold, frigid gaze. He ground his teeth, took his cigarette, and pressed it directly into the chest of the subordinate standing next to him. There was a faint hiss as the fabric burned through, and the man winced in pain, yet he did not dare utter a sound, even forcing a smile as he accepted the cigarette butt from his boss.
Miao Yang watched the display, wishing he could cling to Shi Lan like a koala. God, working for such an emotionally unstable person must make people want to quit. But then he remembered that the man he was currently clinging to had threatened to break his legs just last night. He pulled away from Shi Lan, thinking, He is no better. Was this what they called “like father, like son”? Miao Yang despised them inwardly but wore a sycophantic smile on his face, pretending not to see the tense confrontation.
The tension between the two leaders was mirrored in their subordinates, who also seemed ready to clash. The atmosphere was stifling, but tension was the norm here; a quick fight was usually enough to smooth things over. Shi Lan was here to fight today. He stripped off his T-shirt, revealing a muscular, powerful torso, and hopped onto the ring. As he put on his gloves, he said in a low voice, “Someone come up.”
Miao Yang looked around and sat down on a sofa. He watched Shi Lan spar with the man from earlier. The opponent was skilled, and though he lost, Shi Lan did not get off easily either. In boxing, one rarely escapes unscathed unless the skill gap is overwhelming.
Suddenly, someone shouted nervously, “The Master is here!” The “Master” was, of course, the head of the Qin family, Qin Siyan. Fortunately, the training ground was crowded, and Miao Yang managed to hide behind a few other scrawny youths. He preferred not to draw attention to himself.
168 reminded him: 【That is the big boss of this small world. If you can actually seduce him, you can just lie back and earn all your Luck and Life force.】
Miao Yang: “Homewrecking brings bad karma.”
168: 【No, you have too strong a moral compass to survive in this world. It is normal for a powerful man like Qin Siyan to have lovers.】
Miao Yang: “You are not the one being handled, so of course you say that. What about my Young Master Shen? Should I find a lover for him too?”
168 was speechless. 【Young Master Shen keeps to himself.】
Miao Yang: “Oh, and why would you think I would settle for someone who does not?”
168: 【This, you are considering this right now? Do you not want to live?】
Miao Yang gave a meaningful smile. “You do not know a thing.”
168 wanted to roll its eyes. This host was entirely disobedient, and Miao Yang thought the system was useless. They had been at odds for some time. However, in these few seconds, Miao Yang did not realize he had become the focus of a certain gaze. When he snapped out of his thoughts, he noticed everyone around him subconsciously backing away. Confused, he looked up and locked eyes with a cold, indifferent face.
In an instant, his skin tightened, and he felt a chill creeping up his spine. As Qin Siyan walked in, everyone sycophantically greeted him. He merely nodded, his presence so powerful, cold, and suffocating that it felt like frost covering the room, silencing everyone.
On the ring, Shi Lan’s muscles remained tense, his bronzed skin slick with sweat that shimmered like honey. He looked sexy, a tempting embodiment of violent aesthetics. With a slight furrow of his brow, he looked fierce and feral. He jumped down and hurried to Qin Siyan. “Master, you are here.”
The rest of the training ground followed suit with orderly greetings. Chen Yang, who had just been beaten by Shi Lan, walked over, looking mostly fine. Qin Siyan wore casual clothes, followed by his assistant. His gaze drifted past Shi Lan and landed heavily on Miao Yang.
Miao Yang instinctively licked his lips and shouted, “Hello, Master!” Everyone else had been afraid to make a sound, so the sudden outburst left them stunned. The training ground was like a sports center with many areas, but their current boxing section was a large, enclosed space, making Miao Yang’s voice sound even louder. Shi Lan’s eye twitched; he truly wanted to sew the kid’s mouth shut.
Qin Siyan wrapped bandages around his hands and glanced at Shi Lan. Shi Lan hurried to say, “He is the kid I brought to see you the other day.”
Qin Siyan nodded. “He looks more like a human now.” His voice was rich and deep, carrying immense pressure. Miao Yang, however, was already calculating. A soldier who does not want to be a general is not a good soldier. Instead of trembling as Shi Lan’s lackey, why not be Qin Siyan’s? That is the position of power. Everyone would have to treat me with respect.
Having figured this out, Miao Yang greeted him boldly. Qin Siyan walked forward and said, “Clear the area.” Chen Yang began ushering the subordinates out. Just as Qin Siyan finished speaking, he suddenly glanced at Miao Yang, who was about to leave with the crowd. “You, come here.”
It was only three words, but the target was clear. Miao Yang froze, staring blankly. He had a round, crew-cut head, and his doe-like eyes looked particularly innocent and clueless—stupid, but not annoying. Shi Lan’s brow twitched. Chen Yang gloated, wanting to laugh but nearly choking; he was still in pain from Shi Lan’s beating.
Miao Yang pointed at himself. “Me? Me?” He walked up and swallowed. “Master.” Qin Siyan took a pair of boxing gloves from a subordinate and threw them at him. “Put them on.”
To be honest, that sentence sent a shiver straight from Miao Yang’s soles to the top of his head. Put… put them on?
“What, what does he mean by that?”
168 replied: 【It probably means he wants to beat you to death!】
Miao Yang: “…”
Shi Lan, standing to the side, felt a strange sense of regret. He was already thinking that if Miao Yang accidentally got beaten to death, he would make sure to bury him properly. Yet, he felt an inexplicable restlessness. He had not finished playing with the boy; he was quite interesting. What a pity!
Qin Siyan took off his coat, revealing only a white tank top underneath. His muscles were dense and well-defined, his frame tall and imposing. He was the definition of someone who looked good in clothes but even better without them. Just by watching him undress, Miao Yang felt a wave of sheer force rushing toward him—fierce and solid. Miao Yang’s eyes widened, and he instinctively took a step back. He sensed danger—no, he sensed a deadly threat.
