- Chapter 9 - Yandere No. 1
“Wifey. Yu-yu wants to invite you to the amusement park in the Jin District this weekend. The tickets are already booked! Will you say yes? Yours truly, Yu-yu.”
Fang Yu intentionally added a few tildes to the text. According to her experience back in her original world, the chances of coaxing a sulking girlfriend improved significantly with a bit of “cutesy” punctuation.
When she received the message, Li Ruoruo let out a small laugh. She checked her surroundings nervously—thankfully, everyone was buried in their books and immediately stifled her smile.
She walked over to Han Zhishuang’s side. “Shuangshuang, want to go to the amusement park this weekend? I’ll buy your ticket.”
“I’m in! Wealthy Goddess Ruoruo, give me a hug!” Suspecting nothing, Han Zhishuang jumped up and threw her arms around her friend in excitement.
Li Ruoruo pushed her off, laughing under her breath as she sent a mischievous one-word reply: “Approved.”
Her face flushed as she stared at the contact name for a few seconds. Not daring to linger, she abruptly exited the messaging app. The books on her desk suddenly lost all their charm.
“I’ll drive over to pick you up then,” Fang Yu texted back.
“No need. I’ll take the bus myself.”
Fang Yu ran her tongue over her teeth, then softened her tone. “I’ll wait for you downstairs at your place.”
Fang Yu walked through the living room, where a lavish breakfast was already laid out on the dining table. She took a sip of milk. “Auntie Jia, where’s Xiao Chen?”
Auntie Jia gave her a doting smile. “He’s already waiting downstairs. Eat slowly, Yu-yu, there’s no rush. Have another poached egg.”
Seeing the food piling up like a small mountain on her plate, Fang Yu let out a startled hiccup. “No thanks, Auntie Jia, I’m stuffed!”
She fled the scene immediately, ordering the driver, Xiao Chen, to start the car. Only when the house was far behind did the feeling of being overfed finally start to subside.
If I keep letting Auntie Jia feed me like that, I’ll get fat. How am I supposed to carry my girlfriend then? She let her mind wander toward a certain “ambiguous” scenario; her memory of Ruoruo’s skin was quite vivid.
Xiao Chen was an excellent driver, delivering Fang Yu to her destination smoothly before making his exit to head back to the Fang estate.
Li Ruoruo was waiting downstairs, looking as sweet and obedient as ever. She wore a light blue sundress today, her straight black hair flowing down with two thin braids pinned near her temples. She looked like a gardenia bud about to bloom—vibrant and full of life.
Fang Yu breathed a sigh of admiration. Totally enchanted, she tentatively reached out to hold Li Ruoruo’s hand.
Li Ruoruo turned and dodged her, her voice cool. “I’ll take you to the bus stop.”
Fine, Fang Yu thought. We have a long way to go.
After waiting ten minutes, a bus finally arrived, packed to the gills. Fang Yu shook her head, wanting to suggest they wait for the next one, but Li Ruoruo grabbed her arm and squeezed onto the bus with effortless strength.
Fang Yu: “…”
Wait, has our character dynamic been swapped?
Thanks to Li Ruoruo carving out a path, Fang Yu managed to find a steady footing in the cabin. Her eyes sharpened as she spotted an elderly lady with a vegetable basket getting up to leave. This time, she vowed to be faster than Ruoruo.
Before Li Ruoruo could even blink, Fang Yu had pressed her down into the seat. She casually looped her own bag around Ruoruo’s neck and leaned over, boxing the girl in with her arms. No matter how many people boarded now, they wouldn’t be able to jostle her.
Li Ruoruo gripped the bag tightly, the “deer” in her heart practically slamming against her ribs.
Screeeech!
A sudden, violent emergency brake was accompanied by the driver’s colorful cursing: “Are you fucking rushing to be reincarnated? You piece of trash! You don’t use a blinker? You might not want your life, but I’ve got a whole bus of people here! How unlucky!”
Fang Yu lost her balance and, thanks to inertia, lunged straight onto Li Ruoruo.
Wait, why is it so soft?
Fang Yu rubbed her head against the “cushion” in confusion, only to hear a tearful voice above her. “You, get up, quick.”
Fang Yu looked up, meeting Li Ruoruo’s watery eyes and her uncomfortable squirming.
She suddenly realized: She had slammed head-first into Li Ruoruo’s chest. And it had clearly hurt.
Wow, that was thrilling. She suddenly felt a great deal of affection for that “soul-braking” bus driver.
For the rest of the trip, Li Ruoruo stared out the window, refusing to say a single word to her. It was only when they reached the entrance of the amusement park that the ice began to thaw.
Hoping to cheer her up, Fang Yu proactively went to the online window to collect the tickets. “Why aren’t we going in?”
“Waiting for one more person.”
“You invited someone else?” Fang Yu felt wounded. Her heart felt a little green.
“The more, the merrier.” Li Ruoruo gave her a soft, adorable smile.
In the distance, a girl came jogging over, sweat beading on her forehead. “The traffic was a nightmare. Ruoruo, you haven’t been waiting too long, have you?”
The girl caught a glimpse of the person standing nearby who was currently radiating a dark, gloomy aura and looked startled. “Sister Yu?”
As their eyes met, their faces were etched with the exact same confusion.
A date for two had become a party of three. Between the two of them, who was the one who didn’t deserve a name?
