Professor Shen’s Needy Little Lover - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Shen Zaiqing pulled Long Xin along, running “deng deng deng” all the way to the furthest fresh produce section before letting her go.
She glanced back; the fruit section was in another area and completely invisible from this angle, so it posed no further threat to them.
Only then did Shen Zaiqing begin buying groceries with peace of mind.
The moment Long Xin opened her eyes, before her blurry vision could even settle, her arms were stuffed with a bundle of leaf lettuce and cauliflower wrapped in plastic bags.
This supermarket carried fruits and vegetables that were already weighed and priced. Shen Zaiqing specifically targeted these to save time.
As for why she was stuffing them into Long Xin’s arms?
It was because they had run so fast just now that they had forgotten the shopping cart. It was impossible to go back for it now, they had nothing to carry things in, and Shen Zaiqing didn’t have enough hands, so Long Xin had to be the manual labor.
Shen Zaiqing was in charge of picking grabbing a bag in her left hand and a package in her right, then stacking them into Long Xin’s embrace once she was done.
When they were stacked high, Long Xin would tell her where to tuck things so the structure remained stable.
Dragons are natural mathematicians; even if they have never attended school, they possess an innate sensitivity toward such things.
After picking out vegetables and meat in the fresh produce section, Shen Zaiqing hurriedly pulled Long Xin to the snack aisle.
After stacking a carton of yogurt and two tubs of ice cream, the items in Long Xin’s arms had already surpassed her chest.
Shen Zaiqing couldn’t bear to trample her little dragon any further and asked if she could still carry it all; if not, they would buy less today.
“I can take a few more, these aren’t very heavy.” This level was nothing to Long Xin. Even though her strength was reduced in human form, a dragon’s physical constitution was still better than a human’s.
The strength in her arms was more than enough to hold these things.
Seeing that Long Xin’s demeanor was relaxed and her walking was not affected at all—able to keep up with both fast and slow paces—Shen Zaiqing didn’t doubt her words.
She led her to where the potato chips were sold, grabbed a few bags, and stacked them into her arms as well.
The piled-up chips surpassed Long Xin’s chin, to the point where Shen Zaiqing could no longer see Long Xin’s face. She thought about taking off the top few bags.
“It’s stacked too high, you can’t see the path anymore. Let me take the top few bags.”
Just as her hand reached out, Long Xin took a step back, dodging Shen Zaiqing’s movement. She pressed her tilted-back chin down onto the top of the chips and pulled her arms in, hugging the items tightly.
“It’s just right now, it’s in its most stable state, so don’t take them.” With her arms full, it looked as if Long Xin was hugging a small mountain.
Her chin indeed pressed the bags of chips firmly in place, and the items stacked underneath were tightly packed together; it wasn’t easy for Shen Zaiqing to take them.
She knew that if she took them away, it would actually make the remaining items harder for Long Xin to hold.
So she said: “Then wait for me here for a moment. I’ll go grab two loaves of toast over there, and then we can go to the checkout.”
“Okay.” Long Xin wanted to nod, but her chin was stuck on the bulging packaging of the chips. When she moved, the chips wobbled along with her.
Looking at Long Xin’s adorable appearance, Shen Zaiqing couldn’t hide the joy in her heart, letting a smile leak out as she pulled out her phone to take a few photos of Long Xin.
After taking the photos, Shen Zaiqing noticed the very little time remaining on her phone screen and quickly jogged to the bread section to pick out toast.
Long Xin stood in place waiting, her gaze passing over the passing customers to land on the spot where Shen Zaiqing had disappeared.
Suddenly, her gaze collided with a figure, causing her pupils to contract instantly and the smile on her lips to freeze.
A man wearing a denim jacket walked toward Long Xin, a malicious smile on his face.
Long Xin recognized him and knew he was coming for her; she instinctively hugged the items in her arms tighter.
The man walked straight toward Long Xin. When he reached her side, his body slammed hard into her shoulder.
Long Xin was knocked back a step, but she gritted her teeth to steady herself, hugging the items in her arms with even more force.
She raised her eyes and met the man’s gaze; her deep amber pupils slowly began to turn red.
The man gave her a provocative smile and continued walking forward as if nothing had happened, his back looking very arrogant.
Long Xin felt that if these people didn’t provoke her every few days, their lives would have no meaning they were simply fed and had nothing better to do.
Once she mentally deemed them utterly foolish, Long Xin didn’t want to lower herself to their level.
“Long Xin.”
Shen Zaiqing’s voice appeared by her ear, and the redness in Long Xin’s eyes vanished instantly. She was just about to pretend nothing had happened.
But as she turned her head, she met Shen Zaiqing’s worried eyes.
Her look told Long Xin that she had witnessed everything just now.
“Professor, I…”
Shen Zaiqing stared at the man’s receding figure and said huffily: “That man bumped into you, didn’t he?”
“Mhm.” Long Xin admitted honestly.
“Was he intentional?” Shen Zaiqing asked again. Although bumping into people in a crowded supermarket is normal, that man had turned back to smile triumphantly at Long Xin; he clearly harbored ill intent.
“Yes.”
Shen Zaiqing hoped Long Xin would tell her more information so she could find a way to resolve it, but whenever something like this happened, Long Xin became tight-lipped, unwilling to talk more about her own affairs.
Shen Zaiqing was both angry and anxious.
Her little dragon couldn’t be bullied for nothing!
Long Xin smiled very lightly and comforted her: “It’s okay, Professor. I’m not hurt. He bumped into me; he’s the one who will be hurting.”
Those arrogant white dragons described her as monstrous and worthless, but after all these years, hadn’t they failed to do anything to her?
It was simply because they didn’t have the ability.
Shen Zaiqing, seeing how tightly she protected the items in her arms, said heart-wrenchingly: “Next time you encounter someone malicious like that, don’t worry about me. Just dump everything in your arms on him, and throw the big radish at his face too.”
“I can’t stand seeing our little dragon being bullied.”
“Okay.” Long Xin’s eyes curved.
The Professor in a fit of anger was just as charming as the Professor who had covered her eyes earlier.
Only after confirming that Long Xin was truly uninjured did Shen Zaiqing’s anger subside slightly.
She led Long Xin to the checkout to pay and picked out a “King of Melons” from the mountain of watermelons for Long Xin.
After paying and confirming the delivery address with the supermarket staff, Shen Zaiqing took Long Xin back to Building No. 3.
As soon as they entered the gate of Building No. 3, Long Xin returned to her dragon cub form.
Her body became small, light, and free of constraints.
Long Xin let out a breath and stretched her limbs.
It felt like waking up from a nap; her head felt refreshed.
A dragon is most comfortable in the dragon cub state.
Back at home, Shen Zaiqing went to the kitchen to start the rice, while Long Xin rolled around on the sofa. After being out for most of the day, she really missed this soft couch.
After a while, the doorbell rang, and the voice of the supermarket delivery person came from outside: “Hello, your purchases have arrived.”
“I’ll open the door!”
Shen Zaiqing had just poked her head out from the kitchen when Long Xin had already slid off the edge of the sofa and ran “deng deng deng” toward the door.
“Okay, you go open it.” Shen Zaiqing knew Long Xin was heading for her watermelon.
Opening the door, the massive watermelon stripes directly in front of her occupied all of Long Xin’s vision.
It hadn’t felt this shocking in the supermarket, but now that her body was small, looking up at this watermelon that was three or four times the size of her own body, Long Xin felt she was going to faint from happiness.
“Where would you like me to put it?”
Long Xin was dazed by happiness, standing motionless at the door, leaving the delivery person in a dilemma.
Shen Zaiqing wiped her hands and walked out, picking up the star-struck Long Xin by the scruff of her neck and placing her in a corner out of the way.
“Put it here.” Shen Zaiqing led the delivery person inside and pointed to a spot for him to set down the watermelon and the other groceries.
“Please check the items. If there are no problems, please sign here.”
The delivery person handed over a list. After seeing no issues, Shen Zaiqing signed it.
After seeing off the delivery person and closing the door, Long Xin was still standing in the corner, her back against the wall, staring blankly at the giant watermelon.
She looked as if her soul had been snatched away.
Shen Zaiqing patted her head and smiled: “You can only eat it after dinner.”
Long Xin nodded, covered her eyes herself, and walked away to stay in a corner where she couldn’t see the big watermelon.
Until Shen Zaiqing said it was okay, she couldn’t come face-to-face with this giant watermelon.
By the time the items were delivered, it was almost seven o’clock, so cooking time was tight.
Shen Zaiqing made a simple meal of two dishes and a soup: sweet and sour pork ribs, stir-fried leaf lettuce, and a bowl of sponge gourd and egg drop soup.
Long Xin ate well, leaving not a single grain of rice in her bowl and gnawing the ribs completely clean.
As Shen Zaiqing took the dirty dishes into the kitchen, Long Xin began searching for the whereabouts of the giant watermelon.
Shen Zaiqing had hidden it.
“Professor, where’s the watermelon?”
Shen Zaiqing had brought her computer and camera and was sitting on the sofa. Seeing no sign of the giant watermelon within her sight, Long Xin proactively ran over to ask.
“It’s right here in our home. Go look for it.”
Shen Zaiqing inserted the camera’s memory card into the computer and sat cross-legged on the sofa, preparing to browse through the photos she took today.
She was afraid that Long Xin might have trouble digesting right after eating, so she specially arranged a post-meal “digestion activity” for her.
“Okay, I’ll go look.”
Long Xin gave a heavy nod and then searched room by room.
A few minutes later, there was movement from the watermelon’s hiding place. Shen Zaiqing knew Long Xin had found the giant watermelon she had hidden and looked toward that direction.
Then, she saw Long Xin spread her limbs and lie on top of the watermelon, her limbs and tail pressed tightly against the watermelon’s skin, using the rocking of her body to drive the watermelon forward.
Long Xin slowly rocked the watermelon out of the study and gradually moved toward Shen Zaiqing on the sofa.
Shen Zaiqing intentionally pretended to be busy, staring down at the computer and using the mouse to click open the photos.
Her brow was furrowed, and her fingers occasionally tapped the keyboard to make noise.
Long Xin truly believed Shen Zaiqing was busy with urgent matters since she was holding the computer, so she didn’t dare disturb her, using her center of gravity to stop the watermelon.
Right at the doorway of the study.
Then, like a tumbler toy, she made the watermelon rock back and forth, her body swaying along with it while pressed against the skin.
Occasionally her nose would twitch; since she couldn’t eat the watermelon immediately, smelling the fresh, sweet scent of the rind was good enough.
Shen Zaiqing remained busy, so she continued lying on her long-awaited watermelon, waiting for her.
Shen Zaiqing quietly moved the computer to provide cover for her phone. She opened the camera and filmed Long Xin’s silly appearance.
She transferred the images taken today to the computer and did a comparison.
She found the difference between before and after was too vast.
Just now, Xu Weiyu had sent a WeChat message asking if the three of them could come to visit the two goddesses’ home.
Shen Zaiqing now knew how to reply to them.
They couldn’t.
This kind of silly appearance of the little dragon could only be seen by her alone.
