Pretty Wife Insists I Live Off Her - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: Relationship? What Relationship?
They had fooled around for a long time last night, but they still didn’t go all the way.
Yue Lei dared to kiss Mo Yingxue and hug Mo Yingxue because those actions were within her allowed boundaries. If it were up to her to initiate further, she would at most slip her hand under the clothes and touch Mo Yingxue’s waist. Beyond that, her hands dared not move up or down.
However, she was perfectly content with this stolen intimacy.
Yue Lei was drowsily hugging her wife when she suddenly felt a push on her shoulder. Mo Yingxue whispered softly in her ear: “My mom has landed, get up, Sister.”
“Already?!” Yue Lei snapped wide awake. She let out a groan and immediately started packing her belongings.
Toiletries, towels, clothes… She, Mo Yingxue, and Aunt Wang scurried back and forth between the floors like hamsters moving house. The cats next door seemed to hear her footsteps and meowed through the door, adding to the commotion.
An hour later, Yue Lei collapsed onto the fresh sheets of the guest room bed. “Finally done packing! Aunt Wang, could you please warm up the food?”
Aunt Wang smiled secretly at her and Mo Yingxue: “Why didn’t you pack when you had so much free time yesterday? I thought you two would still be stuck together even when the madam came home.”
Yue Lei and Mo Yingxue exchanged worried glances.
Mo Yingxue spoke first, stopping her: “Aunt Wang, you didn’t tell my mom, did you?”
“Tell her what?” Aunt Wang played ignorant.
Yue Lei sat up hastily: “Just… that we have a very good relationship and are living together.” Speaking too plainly felt too forward, but being too vague might make Aunt Wang misunderstand.
To their relief, Aunt Wang just shrugged: “Why would I tell her that? Don’t worry.”
With that reassurance, the two finally relaxed.
Once Aunt Wang left, Mo Yingxue seemed to remember something. She crawled two steps forward on the bed, draping herself over Yue Lei’s shoulder, resting her head in the crook of her neck. She played with Yue Lei’s hair. “Sister, I haven’t told my mom about our relationship. You’re not unhappy, are you?”
“Relationship? What relationship?” Yue Lei squeezed her wrist, forcing herself to be tough. “At most, we have a transactional relationship. You probably have something like skin hunger but are too embarrassed to tell anyone and have been suppressing yourself all these years. Now you’ve hired me, and I’m getting paid to satisfy your needs.”
Mo Yingxue hadn’t expected the intimacy they had shared these past few days to be so logically rationalized by Yue Lei. Her eyes darkened slightly. She simply hummed in acknowledgment and said nothing more.
She then got up from Yue Lei, retreating dramatically, creating a vast distance between them. Sitting on the edge of the bed to put on her shoes, her tone was cool and distant: “I’m going back to my room.”
Watching Mo Yingxue leave, Yue Lei secretly praised her wife’s acting, feeling confident that with her current attitude, nothing would be revealed when Ms. Mo Shu returned.
After sitting idle for a while, Yue Lei found being alone in the room boring. She shamelessly ran next door to play with the cats.
Upstairs in her bedroom, Mo Yingxue opened Miss Z’s phone and stared at Yue Lei’s chat box, unsure what to type. If Miss Z intervened every time they had a problem, it would be too easy to reveal her identity.
Mo Yingxue didn’t want to shed this disguise yet, so she opened Qingyin Live and aimlessly scrolled the homepage.
Suddenly, she saw a familiar face.
She didn’t dislike all the streamers managed by Yue Lei. There was an intellectual emotional streamer named “Smoky Rose,” or Zhong Jiali, whom she got along with quite well. Strictly speaking, Zhong Jiali was even her friend!
They were both art students—one painting, one classical dance—but when Yue Lei brought her to events, compared to the chattering girls, this older sister who watched everyone from the side, smiling and quietly drinking, was easier for Mo Yingxue to accept.
Initially, Mo Yingxue would sit next to Zhong Jiali because she found everyone else too noisy. They would watch Yue Lei and her crew laughing and fooling around together. Once, when Zhong Jiali got dessert, she brought a plate for Mo Yingxue, and they formally started talking.
They got along quite well.
Afterward, even though Mo Yingxue stopped attending the events Yue Lei hosted, she would occasionally meet Zhong Jiali for dinner or beauty treatments when she was bored.
Yue Lei knew they went out together. She was jealous a few times, but after persistently checking Mo Yingxue’s phone to confirm they weren’t crossing any boundaries, she was just happy.
Based on her personal feelings, Mo Yingxue suspected Yue Lei had given Zhong Jiali some strict instructions. For a while, Zhong Jiali deliberately distanced herself, refusing to come out no matter how many times Mo Yingxue asked, and when she finally did, they barely spoke. But when Mo Yingxue became bored and felt like drifting apart, Zhong Jiali reverted to normal, laughing and fooling around with her again.
If Yue Lei hadn’t introduced them and interfered, would they still have become friends? Mo Yingxue was suddenly very keen to know the answer.
“Ultimate User Z, Descended on Smoky Rose’s Live Stream on a Bed of Auspicious Clouds!”
Zhong Jiali had only started streaming this year.
Everyone around her said she was beautiful, had a good figure, and spoke gently, so she was sure to attract many viewers. However, after streaming for six months, she still hadn’t gained any traction.
Zhong Jiali wanted to give up, but she felt competitive and needed the money. Without streaming, she couldn’t earn enough to do what she needed to do.
Recently, an agency had extended an olive branch, wanting to sign her.
The terms offered were generous: a one-time payment of 100,000 yuan upon signing to solve her immediate financial crisis.
However, the persona the company wanted her to adopt was the currently popular “sexy and fiery wild kitten.”
Zhong Jiali was miserable at the thought of having to completely play a different personality on camera.
A lot of female university students liked her “gentle older sister” type, but unfortunately, they were short on cash and could only offer company.
Seeing a rich woman enter the stream, the audience spontaneously started welcoming her before Zhong Jiali could speak.
“Welcome Sister Z to Rose’s stream! Rose has been streaming all day, just waiting for you!”
“I smell the scent of wealth! Rose, come out and entertain the customer!”
“Everyone, follow Sister Z! Rose, don’t just stand there, greet her!”
While watching Yue Lei’s stream, Mo Yingxue would also be bombarded with welcome messages, but that was because she always gifted when she arrived, and was recognized as the “Great Love Sister” who spent money on their relationship.
She didn’t understand why Smoky Rose’s fans were being so affectionate when she hadn’t spent a cent yet.
Curious, Mo Yingxue clicked on Smoky Rose’s profile. When she saw the gift gallery, she understood.
It was almost the end of the month, and Zhong Jiali’s highest-tiered gift display was only at 3,000 coins. Even with accumulated small gifts, she probably hadn’t earned much this month.
Also, judging by the stream’s decor, she likely hadn’t started being an emotional counselor streamer yet.
This made sense to Mo Yingxue, as this sister was known for her stable temperament and ability to soothe any kind of chaotic viewer who called in.
The viewer would be in a frenzy, and she would remain tranquil and unruffled, creating an interesting contrast. But without a frantic viewer, sitting there alone was probably quite boring.
After some thought, Mo Yingxue started typing.
Z: “Hello, streamer. My friend has a relationship problem she’d like to ask you about. (Paid comment)”
The beautiful woman on screen first showed a slight dilation of her pupils, then quickly composed herself: “What’s the matter? ZZ Baby, just say it outright; why waste money on paid comments?”
Z: “The person my friend likes is a complete idiot. No matter how much she hints, that person just thinks they are slightly better friends. What should she do? (Paid comment)”
Zhong Jiali pondered for a moment, then smiled: “That sounds very troubling. Would you mind telling me what kind of hints your friend has tried? You can even connect with me on the mic.”
Mo Yingxue was already shy about discussing her relationship issues with others, and speaking out loud would practically kill her. So, she persisted in typing.
Z: “My friend offered her a highly paid, easy job. When she had nowhere to live, she took her home and didn’t charge her rent. She sticks to her almost every day, and they’ve kissed and hugged. She has practically poured her whole heart out, but the person still thinks they are just normal friends. (Paid comment)”
Before Zhong Jiali could reply, her audience erupted.
“Oh my god, how do you know so many details? Are you actually that friend?” “Rich woman, hug me! Are there still openings for that kind of activity? Where do I sign up?” “Am I the only one who noticed the word ‘they’ (tā men)? Is the person your friend likes a straight woman? Maybe in a straight woman’s eyes, two women kissing is just ‘good friends.’ She doesn’t see your friend’s kindness as love, does she?”
Zhong Jiali’s live stream finally had substance and created a real buzz. Not only were the viewers excited, but she herself was trembling with excitement.
She first addressed her fans: “Since ZZ Baby said it’s her friend, then it must be her friend’s business. Let’s respect their privacy and not guess wildly. What if we scare her away?”
Once the comments slowed down, Smoky Rose focused her attention on the rich woman, Z.
Zhong Jiali: “As everyone suggested, I think your friend first needs to rule out the other person’s sexual orientation. If the person truly doesn’t like women, doing more won’t help, and forcing them to change will only lead to problems and ultimately hurt your friend. However, if the person she likes is just dense and hasn’t considered it, then I suggest trying a risky move. For example, pretending to play a game, and then doing some ambiguous, teasing actions to see how they react.”
Z: “My friend has already tried that, but the person she likes just kissed her more fiercely and didn’t do anything else. (Paid comment)”
Zhong Jiali hadn’t expected the protagonist of this story to be so bold. She pondered for a moment, then a smile curved her lips: “In that case, why not try something more direct? Cry about it to a mutual friend, and let the person know through someone else. Or, drink a little wine to set the mood, kiss them, and then demand something more? But don’t worry if it fails; keep the pretense of it all being a game.”
Z: “It seems that’s the only way. Thank you. Streamer, your emotional control is very stable, and your advice is sound. You’re very suitable to be an emotional streamer. I hope today’s conversation is not screen-recorded or saved. (Paid comment)”
Z: “Lights of Ten Thousand Homes X1”
After tossing out the hush money, she closed the live stream without any hesitation. This left Zhong Jiali deep in thought. A moment later, her eyes gleamed, and she found a new persona for her stream.
Mo Yingxue hadn’t even put down her phone when she received a call from her mother: “I’m almost there. Come meet me at the gate.”
