Pretending to Be a Submissive O: My Fiancee Is a Little Pup - Chapter 7
Hearing this condition, a flash of dazed surprise crossed Song Qingxue’s bright eyes, followed quickly by a sudden burst of laughter, as if she had just heard a hilarious joke.
“Sister, I thought it was going to be some harsh requirement, but it’s just this?”
“So, you agree?”
“Mm, I think it’s a great deal,” Song Qingxue replied, resting her chin on one hand as she seriously considered the offer, her tone sounding incredibly innocent. “Though, I’ve never played someone’s girlfriend before. If I don’t do a good job and cause trouble for you…”
“Just act like you did when you were in a relationship in the past,” Ji Yaran explained. “It’s just putting on a show in front of Yu Shi. She won’t be coming around every day, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for you.”
Ji Yaran remembered the first time she met Song Qingxue, the girl was alone by the roadside making a phone call, appearing to be breaking up with a girlfriend. Just acting out a scene shouldn’t be hard for her.
To her surprise, Song Qingxue shook her head. “I haven’t done that either.”
Ji Yaran froze. “What?”
“Sister, I’ve never been in a relationship,” Song Qingxue said softly.
Ji Yaran was so startled she nearly tripped over her own tongue.
Song Qingxue… has never been in love?
Then that time outside the hotel…
Song Qingxue gave her a half-smile, seemingly reading her mind. She slowly set down her coffee cup and spoke earnestly, “Sister, I’m not lying to you, I’ve never been in a relationship. That time, I was just having a fight with a friend.”
“A friend?” Ji Yaran was still finding it hard to believe.
“Since you insist on thinking that way, let’s just end it here.”
She vaguely remembered Song Qingxue saying those words back then. So it was just a fight between friends, not a breakup between lovers?
“Yes, it was a very unpleasant falling out,” Song Qingxue’s eyes dimmed at the memory, a hint of bitterness creeping into her voice.
“Was it… Georgina?” Linking this to the various rumors she had researched earlier, a name had already begun to form in Ji Yaran’s mind.
Song Qingxue was briefly taken aback, but meeting Ji Yaran’s gaze, she didn’t hide it. “Yes,” she admitted truthfully.
She didn’t elaborate and quickly adjusted her mood. “But it’s all in the past now.”
Noticing Song Qingxue’s expression, Ji Yaran couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt. Song Qingxue’s contract termination with Lingshang Culture and Georgina’s public statement cutting ties with her represented a fall from being the “best partners” to total strangers. It was a situation anyone would find tragic.
As the people involved, they must have been deeply hurt.
“I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have brought that up,” Ji Yaran said apologetically.
A look of surprise flickered across Song Qingxue’s face, followed by a smile. “Sister, it’s not your fault. You don’t need to apologize.”
“But you two…” Ji Yaran hesitated. She was somewhat curious about their story, but she and Song Qingxue were just passing acquaintances, she had no standing to ask for more.
Song Qingxue shook her head and said seriously, “Sister, while a ‘breakup’ between friends is certainly sad, it’s better than forcing oneself to maintain an uncomfortable relationship. Different people accompany us through different stages of life. When the fate between certain people reaches its end, it just means it’s time for us to find new companions.”
Ji Yaran was stunned. Although Song Qingxue wasn’t very old and occasionally spoke with a childish temper, her mindset and way of handling things were more stable and mature than many others.
“So,” Song Qingxue paused slightly, placing her palm over the back of Ji Yaran’s hand, her tone exceptionally sincere, “Sister, you don’t need to worry about me.”
With those words, Ji Yaran’s guilt vanished, replaced by a warm smile. “Alright.”
“Sister, it’s you I’m worried about. How do I need to cooperate to help you?”
“Yu Shi will likely come looking for me here again soon,” Ji Yaran mused seriously. “If she shows up, you say you’re my girlfriend. I’ll make things clear to her, pay back the previous rent, and won’t use her money ever again.”
Although she didn’t have much money now, given the relationship between the original owner and Ji Yahan, borrowing a bit shouldn’t be a problem. As for whether to keep living in this neighborhood or move out, she still had to consider that.
“Mm, I think that’s a good plan,” Song Qingxue agreed. “But… is one month enough? Sister, you don’t have to worry about me, I don’t mind if it’s longer.”
“Are you… really okay with that?” Ji Yaran felt uncertain. After all, who would enjoy pretending to be someone’s girlfriend indefinitely?
“This way, I can stay by your side a little longer,” Song Qingxue said with crescent eyes and a beaming smile. “You’re providing my room and board, which is a much better deal than staying anywhere else.”
Ji Yaran tapped her on the nose. “You! So that’s your hidden agenda.”
“Well, I have nowhere else to go right now,” Song Qingxue rubbed the tip of her nose sheepishly, “and I don’t have much money.”
Ji Yaran sighed. “Do you have any other plans?”
She wasn’t afraid of Song Qingxue eating and drinking for free, but Song Qingxue couldn’t just rely on handouts forever, right? Setting aside that it wasn’t a long-term solution, she felt deep down that Song Qingxue wasn’t that kind of person. Would a former gold-medal manager from Lingshang Culture be content to just live off someone else? It seemed impossible no matter how she looked at it.
Sure enough, when asked this question, Song Qingxue confessed honestly, “Don’t worry, Sister. I’ve already asked some friends in the industry to look into a few agencies for me. I expect I’ll be going in for interviews before long.”
“It’s good that you have your own plans.” This was Song Qingxue’s career path, and Ji Yaran had no reason to interfere. Knowing she had a plan made her feel relieved.
“Sister,” Song Qingxue slowly crawled closer to her, kneeling on the sofa and hooking her arm. She leaned her soft body gently against Ji Yaran. “This is my first time pretending to be someone’s girlfriend, I’m not very practiced at it. Is this what real lovers do?”
The Omega’s fair, soft body emitted a faint fruity fragrance. She nuzzled into Ji Yaran’s embrace, the curves of her body pressing against Ji Yaran’s arm. Instantly, Ji Yaran felt her heart race and her breathing grow ragged.
“Ahem!” Ji Yaran stopped her in time, her tone slightly unnatural, as if she were feeling guilty. “Actually… we don’t have to be this intimate…”
“But if I were really your girlfriend, I would definitely want to be this close to you,” Song Qingxue pouted, lowering her lashes as her gaze swept over Ji Yaran’s impressive curves. “You’re so beautiful and have such a great figure, Sister. Lots of people will like you. If I don’t stick close, I’m afraid someone will steal you away.”
“Who taught you to talk like that?” Ji Yaran couldn’t help but laugh. “You make it sound so real.”
She couldn’t help but think that perhaps, under the influence of the heat, Omegas were generally prone to feeling insecure. It was likely a hormonal thing, something she, as a Beta, could try to understand but never truly experience.
“It is real,” Song Qingxue nuzzled her face against Ji Yaran’s shoulder. “In my heart, you’re the best, Sister.”
Ji Yaran curled her lips. This Omega certainly had a way with words, her mouth was practically dripping with sweetness. However, she wasn’t the foolish original owner, her mind was clear and she wasn’t that easily tricked.
“You should save those words for the artists you manage in the future.”
Song Qingxue had been a manager at Lingshang Culture and had managed countless artists. In this circle, beauty was the one thing that was never in short supply, not to mention Song Qingxue had dealt with someone as alluring as Georgina.
The moment she finished speaking, she felt the body leaning against her stiffen.
Song Qingxue lifted her head from Ji Yaran’s embrace, her bright eyes fixed on her. “Sister, are you jealous?”
Her tone was incredibly serious, laced with a hint of timidness, like a kitten that had done something wrong and feared its owner’s punishment.
“I say, where do you get such a vivid imagination?” Ji Yaran reached out and pinched her cheek helplessly. “Your head is full of nothing but romance. Who taught you to speak like this?”
“No one taught me…” A flush gradually rose on Song Qingxue’s cheeks, looking like a dash of rouge. She whispered, “It’s just that, facing you, Sister, I just can’t help myself…”
She bit her lip, appearing nervous. “In any case, as long as you aren’t angry, Sister.”
“What is there to be angry about?” Ji Yaran ruffled her hair. “Stop thinking about all these random things.”
The clock on the wall already pointed to 10:00 PM. Ji Yaran gently pushed the clinging Omega away and stood up from the sofa. “Alright, it’s late. Go take a bath.”
“I know, Sister,” Song Qingxue let go reluctantly. “I’m going now.”
Ji Yaran didn’t receive any more messages from Yu Shi that night. She had assumed Yu Shi would be occupied for a few days due to Liu Jia’an’s return, but she didn’t expect to run into the person she least wanted to see the very next morning as she stepped out of the building.
Yu Shi’s face was ashen. she stepped forward and grabbed Ji Yaran’s wrist with a forceful grip. “Yaran, you returned to the apartment last night? Why didn’t you tell me?”
Her grip was very strong. Ji Yaran frowned and forcefully pulled her bruised wrist back. “Director Yu, we’ve already broken up.”
“Broken up?” Yu Shi’s eyes widened as if she had heard a joke, and her tone became impatient. “Ji Yaran, who told you we broke up? You think you can just dump me unilaterally?”
“Director Yu, you’re the one who didn’t want me,” Ji Yaran said calmly. “You have your ‘White Moonlight,’ why bother coming back to pester me? I’m grateful for the apartment you rented for me in the past. I’ll pay you back the money. Let’s stop making things difficult for each other.”
“You…” Yu Shi hadn’t expected Ji Yaran to be so firm this time. “What exactly will satisfy you? Haven’t I given you enough? Ji Yaran, don’t push your luck. If you go with someone else, who else will give you the chance to act and provide you with such good resources?”
Yu Shi had always been able to toy with Ji Yaran because she was certain Ji Yaran needed her to survive in the entertainment industry. Otherwise, with Ji Yaran’s limited abilities, how could she have so many roles to play?
“You’ve given me a lot, but I’ve also put in the work. Neither of us owes the other anything. Now, I want to end this relationship. Director Yu, please have some self-respect, and please respect my girlfriend. Stop pestering me.”
“You…” This was the second time Ji Yaran had mentioned her “girlfriend.” The last time, Yu Shi’s mind had been full of Liu Jia’an and she hadn’t had time to think, so she had believed it. Looking back, she realized those words were full of holes. Ji Yaran just wanted an excuse to dump her.
She was a famous director. Plenty of people were desperate to climb into her bed. If she was dumped by a mere substitute like this, where would she hide her face? If it weren’t for the fact that Ji Yaran had a face so strikingly similar to Liu Jia’an’s, she wouldn’t even look at someone with such an ungrateful personality.
Yu Shi grit her teeth and let out a threat, “Ji Yaran, are you determined to do this the hard way?”
Ji Yaran’s brow furrowed deeply. Just as she was about to speak, a charming, enchanting voice drifted from behind her.
“Sister, why didn’t you sleep a little longer? I accidentally got your underwear dirty, so I took the liberty of washing it for you. You won’t be mad, will you?”
