Pretending to Be a Submissive O: My Fiancee Is a Little Pup - Chapter 10
A trace of surprise flickered across Song Qingxue’s expression, but she followed it with a light smile. “If you have something to say, Sister, just say it.”
She paused to think. “Is it that you didn’t expect me to know Sister Xu?”
Before Ji Yaran could utter a word, Song Qingxue had already guessed her thoughts.
“Or perhaps,” Song Qingxue paused slightly, her eyes taking on a hurt look, “you don’t like it this way?”
With only her speaking, the atmosphere grew subtly awkward.
Ji Yaran watched her for a moment before placing her cool hand over the back of Song Qingxue’s hand, calling her name solemnly.
“Qingxue.”
“I’m listening, Sister,” Song Qingxue replied, her attitude as earnest as ever.
Ji Yaran said, “Whom you know is a matter of your past and your own freedom. I won’t interfere, and I have no right to. I know you wanted to help, and I thank you for the surprise, but I would still prefer it if you told me in advance.”
She spoke with such sincerity that Song Qingxue was momentarily stunned.
After a long silence, she finally spoke. “I understand, Sister. From now on, I’ll tell you about these things beforehand.”
Hearing this, Ji Yaran relaxed significantly and gave a beautiful smile. “Good.”
She remembered Song Qingxue’s interview earlier that day and asked with concern, “How was the interview today? Did it go smoothly?”
At the mention of this, Song Qingxue’s eyes dimmed. She pursed her lips and said, “It might, not have been very successful.”
Ji Yaran was surprised. “What happened? Tell me about it.”
Song Qingxue sighed. “Sister, you should know, I was signed to a modeling agency before, and the artists I managed were all models.”
Ji Yaran understood immediately.
Although Song Qingxue was well-known in the talent manager circles and had managed famous models like Jofina, the work for models and actors was fundamentally different. For Song Qingxue, applying to be an actor’s manager was essentially starting from scratch.
“Do you want to apply to be an actor’s manager? You’re not going to be a modeling manager anymore?”
“Yes, I want to give it a try.”
“Why?” Ji Yaran truly didn’t understand her reasoning. Logically, if Song Qingxue applied to be a modeling manager, her abilities would land her an excellent job. Why give up what she was best at to do something else?
“I just want to try,” Song Qingxue said, offering little else.
Ji Yaran didn’t press further, respecting Song Qingxue’s own career planning.
“Sister,” Song Qingxue said, propping her chin on her hand and looking up at her with fox-like eyes, speaking almost jokingly, “don’t you have a manager?”
It wasn’t rare in the industry to be without a manager. Some artists couldn’t find a suitable one, and others felt they had more freedom without one. However, Ji Yaran’s situation was clearly neither of those.
She didn’t have a manager purely because Yu Shi hadn’t arranged one for her.
When she was with Yu Shi, she could pick resources directly from Yu Shi’s hands. Everything was arranged for her, and she even shared Yu Shi’s assistants. Whether it was scheduling or cleaning up negative PR, Yu Shi’s people handled it. Naturally, she hadn’t felt the need for a dedicated manager.
“Aren’t you planning to sign with an agency? Some things are better left to professionals.”
Having left Yu Shi, Ji Yaran didn’t yet have enough capital to truly establish herself in the entertainment industry, so the lack of a manager didn’t feel pressing. But if she became more famous in the future, the situations she would face would be a hundred times more troublesome than they were now.
“Not for the time being,” Ji Yaran declined politely. “I want to wait and see for a bit.”
Signing with a management company wasn’t something that could be decided instantly. She needed to think carefully about which companies were willing to collaborate and which would be most beneficial for her career as an actress.
Since she currently had a role to film, there was no need to rush.
“Since you have your own plans, Sister, I won’t try to persuade you,” Song Qingxue said, respecting her thoughts. After a moment, she added, “But if you do have any ideas, make sure to tell me.”
Ji Yaran laughed. “Don’t worry, I will.”
“Maybe one day, I’ll become your manager,” Song Qingxue teased.
Ji Yaran was stunned for a second.
Song Qingxue, acting as her manager?
With so many artists and agencies in the industry, what were the odds they would happen to cross paths like that?
It was clearly just a joke.
“If that happened, we would truly be fated,” Ji Yaran said.
“Wouldn’t we?” Song Qingxue pulled her hand toward her, following the conversation. “If you and I weren’t fated, how would I be living in your house right now?”
Mentioning this, Ji Yaran couldn’t help but feel a hint of embarrassment.
At that time, she and Song Qingxue were complete strangers. Just to escape Yu Shi, she had taken it upon herself to claim Song Qingxue was her girlfriend. Looking back now, it was lucky that Song Qingxue had been willing to play along.
Song Qingxue, however, didn’t mind at all. She blinked her seductive eyes and smiled sweetly. “So, you and I were meant to be.”
Ji Yaran was amused by her and reached out to tap the tip of her nose. “You, you’re quite the clever little thing.”
Soothing, intoxicating music drifted through the living room. Song Qingxue reached for the coffee table. “It’s my phone.”
The voice on the phone sounded like a middle-aged woman in her thirties or forties.
“I understand, thank you for calling.”
“We’ll probably move in within the next two days.”
After hanging up, Song Qingxue said to Ji Yaran, “Sister, the landlord said the previous tenant has moved out and the apartment has been cleaned. We can move in directly.”
“Let’s make it the day after tomorrow, then. I’m free for the next couple of days. We can pack tomorrow and move the day after.”
“Okay, I’ll message the landlord.”
Ji Yaran glanced at the clock and stood up. “I’ll start packing some things I don’t use tonight.”
“You’re working hard, Sister,” Song Qingxue said, standing up with her. “I’ll go take a shower first. Once I’m done, I’ll help you pack.”
“It’s okay, there’s no rush. If you’re tired, you can pack tomorrow.” Omegas were naturally physically weaker and didn’t have as much energy as Betas, they needed proper rest.
Song Qingxue nodded. “I know, Sister. I’ll do what I can.”
As Ji Yaran went to pack, Song Qingxue took clean clothes to the bathroom.
After closing the bathroom door, she leaned against the wall and opened her contacts list. She found a number with no name and dialed it.
The phone rang three times before being picked up.
“…” The person on the other end remained silent for a long time.
Song Qingxue lowered her gaze, her thick lashes hiding a coldness that wouldn’t dissipate.
“The task I gave you, is it done?”
“The company is already negotiating some business with the Song family. However, since the company was only recently established, your sister is still being cautious. You know her personality, we can’t rush this.” The woman’s voice was unique, falling somewhere between seductive and cool, the kind of voice that left an impression after just one listen.
A cold smile played on Song Qingxue’s lips. “Understood. Then take it slow, I can afford to wait.”
“Although your sister still holds a sliver of hope for the collaboration with the Ji family, she seems unusually bothered by the broken engagement, which is why she’s been hesitant. So I think, the chance of a final deal is quite high.”
“Naturally. That’s just my eldest sister’s temper. Unless that marriage can be salvaged, no one will be able to calm her down.”
“I will continue to work hard on it.”
“Mm, thank you for your trouble.”
“No,” the woman hesitated, “it’s, no trouble.”
“Is there any movement from Ji Yahan’s side?”
“None for now.”
“Keep monitoring her,” Song Qingxue said lazily. “Tell me immediately if there’s news.”
“I understand,” the woman paused, her tone a bit hesitant. “Are you, with the second Ji miss right now?”
“Yes, I’m staying at her house.”
The woman took a deep breath and waited a long time before saying, “If you have nowhere to go, why not stay at my place? I…”
“No need,” Song Qingxue laughed softly. “Living with her allows me to gather quite a bit of intel.”
The woman fell silent for a moment before sighing. “I understand.”
Song Qingxue curled her lips into a playful, cold smile. “She, trusts me very much right now.”
Moving day arrived two days later.
Song Qingxue contacted a moving company and moved everything from the Shangjia Apartment to Yipin Jiayuan.
Shangjia Apartment was a place the original owner of the body had rented upon graduation. While the environment was nicer and close to the school, it was in the suburbs, making transportation somewhat inconvenient. Yipin Jiayuan was closer to the city center, a better location that made getting anywhere much easier.
Song Qingxue placed her suitcase in the living room and took a walk around. She turned to Ji Yaran and said, “Sister, the environment here is decent, right? It’s a bit step down from Shangjia, but the lighting is quite good.”
“It’s indeed very nice,” Ji Yaran praised generously.
The new apartment had great light and ventilation, it was much better than she had imagined. Ji Yaran didn’t have high requirements for living spaces, so an apartment like this fully met her needs.
However…
“But I probably won’t be staying here for more than a few days.”
“Are you moving to the production crew’s hotel, Sister?”
“Yes,” Ji Yaran nodded. “Filming starts officially in a few days, so I have to stay at the hotel for a while.”
The light in Song Qingxue’s eyes slowly faded into disappointment. She gripped the edge of her shirt, lowered her head, and spoke with a hint of helplessness. “So, I can’t be with you anymore, Sister?”
“It’s okay,” Ji Yaran comforted her. “I’ll come back when I’m free. You keep living here, and you can come find me at the set whenever you like.”
Song Qingxue bit her lower lip, her bright eyes turning dull, even welling up with tears. “But Sister, we only have one month…”
“One month?” For a moment, Ji Yaran didn’t understand what she was talking about.
“You made an agreement with me, letting me be your girlfriend for only one month,” Song Qingxue said, her voice unknowingly cracking with a sob. “I don’t want to leave you so soon, Sister…”
“But…”
“Sister,” Song Qingxue pursed her lips and asked tentatively, “can I stay at the hotel with the production crew with you? I promise, I won’t cause you any trouble.”
