Pregnant With the Villain Boss’ Baby - Chapter 32
Squatting by the kitchen door, Yun Lan listened as the footsteps grew distant, followed by the soft click of the front door. Silence followed.
She poked her head out, scanned the area, and then looked down with a mischievous giggle. She pumped a small fist toward the entrance. Today was her day off, Mommy was at work, and Sister Yang was out. She was home alone. Conditions: Met! Yun Lan hopped in place with excitement.
“Right, homework first. Or Mommy will be mad when she checks.” Muttering to herself, she ran upstairs and returned a moment later clutching her books.
“Doing homework here should be fine,” she said, setting her books on the coffee table. Her mouth said one thing, but her eyes kept drifting toward the hallway. Suddenly—
“Meow~”
A kitten’s cry made Yun Lan jump nearly off the sofa. She spun around to see Niunai, eyes bleary with sleep. The kitten opened its tiny pink mouth for a milky yawn and stared at Yun Lan, seemingly confused as to why she was still there.
“You little milk cat, you almost gave me a heart attack!” Yun Lan puffed out her cheeks. She crawled over to Niunai and, mimicking Yun Mu’s usual gesture, extended a finger to pet the kitten.
But while Yun Mu’s fingers were slender and graceful, Yun Lan’s were chubby “baby carrots.” She hadn’t mastered her own strength yet; she intended to rub Niunai’s head, but instead, she accidentally pressed the entire cat flat into the rug.
“Meow-aaaah!” Niunai let out a high-pitched wail. Startled, Yun Lan yanked her hand back and watched anxiously as Niunai wobbled to its feet, shook out its fur, and immediately began licking its paws.
“Hmph. You screamed so loud, yet you still have the heart to groom yourself,” Yun Lan grumbled. She reached out again, but Niunai sensed the danger. The kitten’s fur puffed out until it looked like a dandelion ball, and it used its tiny paws to bat Yun Lan’s finger away.
The furry little face was full of disdain. Yun Lan was fuming. This little thing competes with me for Mommy’s attention every day, and now it’s looking down on me? I’m its master!
Ignoring Yun Lan’s fiery gaze, Niunai stretched on the cushion, wobbled over to its bowl of fresh milk, and began lapping it up noisily.
Yun Lan: “…” Fine. If you ignore me, I’ll ignore you.
She hopped back onto the sofa and started breezing through her workbook. However, her eyes kept drifting back to Niunai’s wiggling backside as it drank. That tail… I want to pull it!
Whoosh. Niunai looked up, big eyes glaring at Yun Lan. It let out a series of tiny “meows” intended to be threatening, but they sounded so adorable that Yun Lan just rolled her eyes and went back to her homework.
By the time she finished, it was noon. She ran to the kitchen, heated her lunch, and carried a mountain of food in her bento box over to a small stool. She used one foot to hook the stool near the floor-to-ceiling window and cracked it open just a sliver.
From this angle, she could see the villa next door. She sat down, spooning food into her mouth while observing like a tiny spy. “Is no one there? Or are they just hiding inside?”
She couldn’t tell. No one came out. This only piqued her curiosity further. She decided a “reconnaissance mission” was necessary. After finishing her meal, she pushed open the door to the medical room and tiptoed over to the capsule-shaped pod where Yun Mu lay peacefully.
“She won’t wake up, right?” she whispered.
“Meow~” Niunai had followed her, stumbling along and pouncing on Yun Lan’s feet. The kitten saw Yun Mu in the capsule and suddenly hissed. “Meow! Meow!” It leaped toward the glass, paws flailing.
Niunai: Monster! What have you done to my human!
Before the kitten could crash into the glass, Yun Lan caught it. “Hey! Don’t make a mess! If you break the machine, it’ll be a disaster.” She hauled the struggling, meowing kitten out of the room.
After shutting the door, she ignored the cat scratching at the wood and ran to her room. she changed into an all-black outfit, put on a beanie and a mask, and—after some thought—grabbed a magnifying glass from her desk. She posed in front of the mirror and nodded. I look just like a detective. Cool!
“I’m a detective~ I’m a detective~ Mwahaha~” Humming a tuneless song, she skipped out of the villa and hid behind the bushes. After a few moments of “scouting,” she hopped over the low fence.
“It looks pretty much like our house,” she evaluated, walking around the neighboring villa. She pressed an ear to the door. “Mm… no sound. Let’s check the windows…”
She circled the house, but the curtains were all drawn tight. Finally, she found one window with the curtains open, but it was a full head taller than her. “What a weirdo, keeping everything so mysterious.”
She scoured the garden for a rock to stand on, but the yard was immaculately clean—nothing but leaves. “Aah! I can’t give up now!” Yun Lan gritted her teeth and checked the height. “Don’t underestimate me!”
With a low grunt and a short running start, she leaped. Clack! Her hands gripped the windowsill. “Phew. Heh, a little thing like this is nothing for an Alpha.” She shook her head proudly and peered inside.
“Ugh, the decor here is ugly,” she whispered. She was looking into the living room. Unlike her home, which was warm and cozy, this place was strictly black and white. The only sign of life was a tiny cactus sitting on top of the TV.
The emptiness of the room made her “Baozi” face wrinkle with dissatisfaction. “Is no one here? Or are they on the second floor? I can’t see up there. Tsk, what now? This might be my only chance…”
While she was hanging off the windowsill and peeking around, a dark shadow loomed behind her. Before she could react, a hand reached out and grabbed the back of her neck.
“Who are you? Why are you sneaking around someone else’s house?”
Yun Lan was lifted by her collar and let out a startled cry as a man’s voice rang in her ear. “Whoa! Let me go!” She kicked her legs back and tried to pry the hand off her shoulder, but it was useless.
Yun Lan: I suddenly understand how Niunai feels! QAQ
After being worked to the bone by his sister lately, digging through elite family secrets, Lu Huan’an felt his worldview had been shattered. Finally having delivered results that satisfied Lu Fengxu, he’d eagerly taken a half-day off.
He hadn’t expected to return and find a sneaky little figure running around his yard. Upon closer inspection, the kid was dressed entirely in black—mask, hat, the works. In this heat?
“Whose kid is this? Why are you dressed so weirdly?” he asked.
“You’re the one who’s dressed weirdly! This is a detective uniform!” Yun Lan shouted, offended that her fashion choice was being mocked.
Lu Huan’an: Where did this brat come from? A detective? That’s such an ancient term. People still like that stuff? But then he looked down at his own crisp, perfectly ironed military uniform—a symbol of pride and honor that most people could only dream of wearing.
“I’m dressed weirdly?” He narrowed his eyes. “Kid, you’re asking for a lecture, you know that?”
“Ah…” Yun Lan stopped struggling. She recognized the uniform immediately. After all, wearing one was her ultimate goal. Cough… I just accidentally insulted my future self. My face hurts. “Ahem. I think the clothes look good, but they don’t look good on you.”
Lu Huan’an: ! ! ! This brat is really asking for a thumping!
The veins on his forehead throbbed. He suppressed the urge to discipline the “Baozi.” While Alphas were tough, he didn’t want to cause a diplomatic incident in a neighborhood full of VIPs.
“Kid, which house do you belong to?” he asked, taking a deep breath to sound friendly.
“I ran in from outside,” Yun Lan said stubbornly.
“Do I look stupid? If a kid could just wander into a high-security district like this, the guards would be fired,” Huan’an rolled his eyes.
Yun Lan looked away, radiating an “I’ll die before I talk” aura. She was terrified of Mommy finding out she’d snuck out, so her only option was to stand firm. She figured the man wouldn’t actually hit her; most people in this district were careful about who they offended.
Unfortunately, she was dealing with Lu Huan’an. He might look like a fool in front of his sister, but he was a nightmare for the elite families. He saw right through her.
“Since you put it that way…” Huan’an drawled, making it sound like he was giving up. Just as Yun Lan’s face lit up with a ‘See, now let me go’ look, he continued: “I guess I have no choice but to take you to the security droids. We’ll see who comes to claim you, and then I can have a long talk with your parents.”
He started walking toward the gate. Yun Lan’s eyes widened. Wait, this isn’t how the script goes! If the security droids catch me, I’m dead!
“I’m from next door…” she whispered, her voice like a tiny mosquito.
“What?” Huan’an’s eyes widened. Even though she was quiet, as an S-rank Alpha, he heard her perfectly. He just couldn’t believe it. “Say that again?”
“I said, I’m from next door!” Yun Lan puffed out her cheeks and yelled at the top of her lungs.
