Poor Relationship - Chapter 13
(Liu Junnian tightly gripped Linchuan’s neck, his eyes bloodshot as he leaned in close, madness swirling in his depths.)
Wen Shi (Liu Junnian): “Have you always liked Chen Yuan from the start?”
“Would you even spare a glance for a dog?”
“Is it just because it’s me, Liu Junnian, that you don’t like me?”
Wen Shi’s voice was too fitting, a few tones lower than normal, perfectly capturing that level of madness.
“Yes…” Xu Yizhou immediately responded, lightly gripping his own neck to find that suffocating sensation.
“Why don’t you just die!”
“Hahahaha.” Wen Shi reacted quickly, laughing softly with a mix of madness and sickness.
“Yeah, A’Nian, why haven’t I died yet?”
(With a forceful breathy sound)
“What do you think Chen Yuan would think of you if I took you right here?”
“Let… let go of me…”
It was almost to the point of suffocation. Liu Junnian released Linchuan, and as Linchuan gasped for air, he kissed those half-parted lips.
“Mmm…”
(A subtle breathy sound…)
One minute later.
“Cut, cut, cut! Any longer and it won’t pass censorship!”
Su Fei called for a stop from outside the booth.
“If it doesn’t pass, don’t put my name on it.”
Xiao N: “Don’t put mine either.”
Though they said this, their faces were beaming with unmistakable fangirl smiles.
“You think I want this? Is the 300-second breathy sound for real?”
Xu Yizhou was a bit dramatic. Which bastard wrote it to last 300 seconds?
It’s killing me. His hand was already red from the strain. Everyone then looked at the script interface on the monitor, and sure enough, there was a note for a 300-second breathy sound.
Their gazes shifted to Yu Xin beside them, who awkwardly adjusted her glasses.
“Oh, don’t look at me like that. It was just a mistake.”
“Let’s take a break, you two. I’ll review this, and if there are no issues, I’ll submit it to the author.”
This was the studio’s first BL audio drama, titled Zhao Lou Xue, written by a popular author, so Su Fei was taking it especially seriously. Before this, Xu Yizhou and Wen Shi’s segment had already been rejected three times. This was their best take yet.
Xu Yizhou sighed helplessly and took a few sips of water from the cup on the table.
Truthfully, he didn’t want to listen to the playback. Or rather, he didn’t want to record BL at all. But the problem was, it was assigned—specifically assigned to him and Wen Shi to collaborate on. Thinking about the studio’s arrangements, he didn’t say anything. After all, he’d already recorded something even more embarrassing.
Compared to those eighty pages of explicit content, this was nothing. The playback had already started, and to make matters worse, it was crystal clear even inside the booth.
The breaths of two men intertwined, pulling and tugging, accompanied by some professional sound effects.
If you weren’t watching the scene live, who knows what you’d imagine. Just listening to it, Xu Yizhou was reminded of last night’s dream. The sound of that man panting in his ear, the low, soft laughter. It echoed in his mind like a haunting melody, impossible to shake off.
So embarrassing. After what felt like an eternity of public humiliation, Su Fei finally paused the playback and nodded in satisfaction.
“Teacher Xu, you’re amazing. You handled this segment so well.”
After listening to the audio playback, Wen Shi finally turned his gaze to Xu Yizhou, generously praising him without reservation. His peach blossom eyes curved slightly, shimmering with a bright, crystal-clear light, so pure it seemed one could see straight through to the bottom.
Xu Yizhou was momentarily stunned, almost unable to believe that Wen Shi, with such an utterly pure gaze, could be the type Wen Jiang had described—someone with a vast network of admirers both domestically and internationally.
“Thank you. Teacher Wen is also quite impressive, showing great improvement.”
He spoke the truth. Last time, when he had listened to Wen Shi’s performance in their scene together, although steady, it hadn’t held up for long. But this time, it seemed Wen Shi had overcome that issue.
“Teacher Xu is too modest. You’ve been the senior I’ve admired most since I entered the voice acting industry. Having the chance to perform opposite you this time is truly an honor.”
Xu Yizhou had heard Wen Shi praise him so often that it now felt like mere professional courtesy.
“Teacher Wen was selected through auditions, so your skills are naturally not lacking.”
“Then, would it be possible to invite Teacher Xu to dinner later and perhaps learn a few voice acting techniques from you?”
With the conversation reaching this point, and Xu Yizhou’s impression of Wen Shi not being as negative as before, he thought, Why turn down a free meal?
“Sure.”
A while later, the author responded. Judging by Sophie’s expression, the feedback seemed positive. With Sophie in a good mood, their workday naturally wrapped up quickly.
Wen Shi deliberately waited for Xu Yizhou to finish packing up before leaving together with him.
“Wow, did you see? Teacher Xu and Teacher Wen just left together!”
“It seems like it. Damn, are they that close now? I remember Teacher Xu didn’t really like Teacher Wen before.”
“Who knows? Anyway, I have to take a photo and post it online. My ship, ShiZhou, is real!”
As she spoke, the girl stood up, using her phone to snap a picture of the two men walking side by side out the door. Whether it was the tricky angle or a trick of perspective, the photo made it look as if Xu Yizhou and Wen Shi were holding hands as they walked out.
“Hey, remember to send it to me!”
Another girl nudged her with an elbow.
“Got it, got it. Ahhh, my CP!”
“They’re really something, I could cry!”
After taking the elevator down, Xu Yizhou waited at the entrance for Wen Shi to bring the car around. Outside, the sky had darkened, with a few stars beginning to twinkle. The wind was chilly, and he instinctively pulled his coat tighter.
A sharp car horn blared, and a vehicle ahead flashed its high beams, forcing Xu Yizhou to shield his eyes instinctively. Only when the blinding light faded did Xu Yizhou glare angrily in its direction. Before he could utter a curse, he recognized Wen Jiang. Wen Jiang sat inside the car, the window rolled down, his sharp gaze fixed on Xu Yizhou.
“Brother?”
Xu Yizhou walked over, puzzled, and leaned down beside the car window.
“Brother, what are you doing here?”
“I finished work a bit late, so I thought I’d swing by and pick you up.”
“Get in.”
Wen Jiang’s tone carried a hint of coldness, but the wind was strong, and Xu Yizhou didn’t quite catch it. Remembering he had just agreed to have dinner with Wen Shi, Xu Yizhou hesitated.
“Brother, a colleague invited me to dinner. Why don’t you head back first?”
The light fell on Wen Jiang’s face, casting a shadow in his eyes.
“Which colleague?”
Xu Yizhou originally wanted to mention Wen Shi directly, but considering Wen Jiang’s attitude toward Wen Shi had never been particularly favorable, he decided against it.
“Ah, just don’t worry about it. I’ll go back right after dinner.”
Besides, this should be considered his private matter.
