Perfect Possession - Episode 84
“Huh? What about my outfit?”
Absentmindedly answering, Jaehoon moved his hand from Seo-yeon’s slender waist to her skirt-covered hip.
“It’s dizzyingly and excitingly good.”
“Really? But Chairman, if you do this…”
“If I do this?”
Jaehoon kissed Seo-yeon’s palm and said in a low voice,
“You’ll get caught.”
Seo-yeon whispered into Jaehoon’s ear as if making a sweet confession. He stopped his actions for a moment, then grabbed her shoulders and burst into laughter.
“Hahaha, you really are an unpredictable and charming woman. Getting caught by your husband.”
“Did I crack you up?”
“You cracked me up big time.”
“Was it that much? Not bad.”
Seo-yeon was happy that Jaehoon liked it. She gave him a loving smile, kissed him on the cheek, and stepped back.
“Bear with this for now.”
“This isn’t enough, but… actually, there’s a CCTV installed in my room… Ah, don’t worry. I’m the only one who sees it. Anything more than this might interfere with work later, so I’ll step back like a gentleman. I feel like you have a plan for everything.”
“When did you install the CCTV?”
“A while ago.”
Seo-yeon was hearing this for the first time. She stared at Jaehoon with wide eyes, then narrowed them as she recalled the secret things they had done together in this room.
“You don’t have all of it, do you?”
“What?”
Jaehoon answered as he prepared to leave.
“You can’t be asking because you don’t know. If you still have any videos, delete them right now.”
“I don’t have anything like that. I have the real thing here that I can touch, why would I need videos?”
Seo-yeon didn’t let go of her suspicious gaze and linked arms with Jaehoon.
“Your voice is trembling, I don’t think you’re telling the truth.”
“When did I tremble? Seo-yeon, that’s a stretch.”
“I’ll be really mad if it comes out later.”
“Hey, I said I don’t have it. Don’t you trust your husband?”
“I trust Jaehoon, but I don’t trust that Chairman.”
“Isn’t that the same thing?”
The two headed to the parking lot, bickering playfully. Seo-yeon was joking, but she planned to search thoroughly later and really scold him if he had any videos from that time.
Seo-yeon took Jaehoon to a restaurant she had booked in advance. As they entered the hotel where the restaurant was located, Jaehoon’s eyes lit up more than Tae-yul’s, and Seo-yeon burst into laughter.
“Isn’t this the break time right now?”
“Well, it’s times like these that being the daughter-in-law of Do-young Group is really nice. It costs a bit, though.”
Watching Seo-yeon wrinkle her nose and lower her voice, Jaehoon laughed again. The two followed the manager to a special place. The window seat with a clear view of Namsan Tower was the same place where Jaehoon had first brought Seo-yeon.
As the manager tried to help Seo-yeon sit, Jaehoon raised his hand to stop him. He pulled out the chair himself so that Seo-yeon could sit down.
“What kind of cute thing is this now?”
“Did you like it?”
Seo-yeon waited for Jaehoon to sit down before answering.
“Very much.”
Jaehoon answered briefly and waited for Seo-yeon’s next question. Seo-yeon knew why he was looking at her with expectant eyes.
Right now, she was recreating the moment when Jaehoon had first brought her here and said he wanted to see her. After this, he had said to Seo-yeon,
‘How about I call you by your name instead of Secretary Han?’
‘Pardon?’
‘I want us to be that kind of relationship. As long as we both want it.’
Remembering that time, Seo-yeon looked at Jaehoon.
“How about I call you by your name instead of Chairman Kang?”
It was a surprise event planned to be fun and special, but Seo-yeon had to hold back her laughter as she tried to open her mouth. It seemed Jaehoon was the same, as the corners of his lips and eyes twitched simultaneously.
She gave Jaehoon a look that said, ‘Just try laughing.’ Jaehoon shook his head slightly, then cleared his throat and said,
“What?”
“I want us to be that kind of relationship. Forever.”
Seo-yeon had been having fun until just now, but her heart welled up as she tried to change ‘as long as we both want it’ to ‘forever.’ It seemed Jaehoon was the same, as he held Seo-yeon’s hand but didn’t answer right away, and silence flowed. Finally, he opened his mouth.
‘Are you saying as long as we both want it?’
“Are you saying forever?”
Seo-yeon was so grateful that Jaehoon remembered her words exactly.
“That’s right. If you give yourself to me, I’ll make sure you never regret it.”
At that time, Jaehoon had answered, ‘That’s right, for as long as you give yourself to me, I’ll make sure you don’t regret it.’
The two had been looking at each other silently, but the silence was broken when Jaehoon opened his mouth.
“This feels strange, but somehow it’s exciting and good.”
“Me too. I planned it as a half-joke, hoping it would be a memorable anniversary, but my heart is pounding.”
Seo-yeon smiled at Jaehoon with teary eyes.
“The time you said you wanted to call me Seo-yeon here is more special to me than our wedding anniversary.”
“It’s the same for me. It’s the historic day I first asked a woman to meet me. You’re the first person I’ve ever confessed to.”
“See, I knew you were doing well for a reason. You’re subtly showing off that you’re popular right now, aren’t you?”
Seo-yeon glanced at him, unable to hide her smile.
“It’s the truth.”
Jaehoon said, raising his eyebrows, then looked at the manager as he approached.
“It’s ready.”
“Bring it.”
Jaehoon knew what kind of food he had prepared that day. That’s why he was looking forward to it. Not knowing what she would like, he had asked for all the menu items here to be prepared in bite-sized portions.
As expected, Jaehoon couldn’t help but laugh at the food that the staff brought out. The food came out exactly as he had ordered.
“It’s amazing that you remember this, but Manager Seo’s memory is also amazing.”
“It was such a special order that I couldn’t forget it.”
Manager Seo said quietly and stepped back with the staff.
“Did you like it?”
“Totally. Do this for me next year too.”
Jaehoon poured wine for Seo-yeon and said,
“Next year too? Well, that depends on how you treat me for a year.”
Seo-yeon winked and brought the food to her mouth. She raised her eyebrows lovingly and gave a thumbs up.
“It’s so delicious.”
“So that’s why Chief Jung had the lunch menu as noodles.”
Jaehoon looked at the plentiful food and thought of the noodles he had eaten during the day. When he had heard that Hyun-shik had booked a noodle restaurant for lunch, Jaehoon had looked at him with a dumbfounded expression. Then, at the end of the sentence, ‘I booked it with difficulty because it’s a popular place these days,’ he had said, ‘I also wanted to eat it,’ which he had never said before, and he had been surprised inside. It was all because he was participating in and moving according to Seo-yeon’s plan.
“I asked him to. I asked him to prepare something that would go away quickly for lunch.”
“I wondered why he was doing something he never used to do. He said he wanted to eat it.”
“Really? Oh my, Chief Jung said that? I can’t believe it.”
“I’m telling you, he did. I was dumbfounded, but when I heard that, I started to reflect on whether I was only thinking about myself too much.”
“I bet.”
The two soon started talking about the people around them and continued their meal happily with ordinary conversations.
But even while talking happily, Jaehoon was looking forward to what would happen after this meal. At that time, he had taken Seo-yeon to the hotel suite here after the meal. So Seo-yeon must have booked that room.
He was worried about Tae-yul, but he thought that his mom and dad could come in a little late and he would understand enough. Because he’s a good son.
Jaehoon couldn’t help but ask as he drank wine.
“You must have a plan for later too, right?”
“Huh? Oh… that? That’s…”
‘Mom, if you do this, no.’
Seo-yeon trailed off, thinking of Tae-yul saying that while holding up five fingers. Jaehoon put a deliciously grilled eggplant on Seo-yeon’s plate and asked lightly.
“Why are you stopping in the middle of your sentence? Try it. You like grilled eggplant, right?”
Seo-yeon knew what Jaehoon was hoping for, so she said softly as if to appease him.
“Well, things aren’t fun if everything is perfect.”
“No, I think perfect is fun.”
He sent a strong look that said, ‘Don’t say no.’ It looked like he was going to call the hotel himself to book it if she said no.
“Is the place that important?”
“That sounds like you’re saying no?”
“Then what should I do? When I was leaving, Tae-yul said, ‘Mom, if you do this, no. Definitely,’ and spread out all five fingers.”
Seo-yeon spread out five fingers as Tae-yul had done. Jaehoon looked at his palm with strength in his eyes, then sighed briefly and glanced at his watch.
“Let’s eat quickly. There’s not much time left.”
Seo-yeon smiled as she held her fork and knife. She couldn’t help but laugh because it was the same disappointed expression Tae-yul had when he was told not to do something.
“Don’t laugh.”
“I’m going to tell Tae-yul.”
“Go ahead. I’ll have a serious conversation with my son today.”
“You say that every time, but you just look at his face and get all giddy.”
“Not today.”
“We’ll see.”
Jaehoon continued their disappointing meal, denying that Seo-yeon was right a hundred times over, but he was still disappointed.
Mrs. Kim smiled as she watched Tae-yul, who was leaning against the back of the sofa and only looking out the window. She gently stopped the nanny from approaching.
“Just leave him be. It’s better this way since it’s almost time for them to come back.”
“Yes, madam.”
As the nanny tidied up the toys Tae-yul had been playing with, Mrs. Kim approached Tae-yul and looked out the window with him.
“Do you see your mom and dad?”
“No see.”
“They’ll be here.”
“Five o’clock?”
Tae-yul showed Mrs. Kim five fingers.
“It’s almost five o’clock.”
Mrs. Kim patted Tae-yul on the back. Tae-yul’s patience, who had told them to have fun and come back, ran out after 4 o’clock. He lost interest in the toys he had been playing with well, and eventually went up to the sofa and only looked outside.
“Do you miss your mom and dad that much?”
“Yeah. Miss Mom and Dad.”
“Hey, you told them to play until five o’clock, what’s wrong?”
“Five o’clock?”
He didn’t answer that, perhaps because he had said it himself, and spread out his fingers again. At that moment, the sound of a car was heard and a car entered the parking lot. Tae-yul, who was perking up his ears and looking outside, jumped off the sofa and grabbed Mrs. Kim’s hand.
“Come. Mom and Dad come.”
“Yes. Go ahead.”
Mrs. Kim took Tae-yul to the front door and opened it. Seo-yeon and Jaehoon, who were walking inside, ran to Tae-yul, who was running out barefoot, and picked him up.
Mrs. Kim’s heart welled up at the beautiful sight of them kissing each other on the cheeks and leaning their faces together. It was a scene she had always seen, but she was moved every time she saw it.
“Mom, Dad, come?”
“Did our son play well?”
“Yeah.”
The three laughed loudly at Tae-yul’s loud voice.
