Perfect Possession - Episode 75
Seo-yeon struggled to contain her smile. She felt embarrassed, sitting alone and grinning like a fool, even though no one was staring at her. It felt silly to be embarrassed about smiling to herself, but it had been so long since she’d had a date with Jaehoon that she felt as giddy as she had on their first date.
It had almost been a year since they started sharing a blanket, and their beloved Tae-yul was about to turn three. Seo-yeon spent her days in a whirlwind of happiness, diligently caring for the two people who needed her.
That wasn’t to say everything was smooth sailing. Tae-yul, at the age when he should have been learning to speak, had shut his mouth, and when there was a disconnect between what he thought and what came out of his mouth, he would get frustrated. Smart and proud, Tae-yul would cry or sulk if he couldn’t easily think of the word he wanted to say.
When Seo-yeon expressed her concerns, Jaehoon suggested seeking professional help, and as a result, Tae-yul quickly began to learn to speak. He learned new words so quickly every day that Seo-yeon often found herself spending half the day answering Tae-yul’s questions, unable to get anything else done.
Now that they were finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, Seo-yeon and Jaehoon decided to enjoy an ordinary date for the first time in a long while. A so-called “do-nothing date.” Not a fancy concert or social gathering, but a date where they went out without any plans and just enjoyed themselves.
When she said she wanted to have a date where they could eat dinner and walk the night streets, laughing and chatting, Jaehoon had said, “Then let’s do it.” So Seo-yeon immediately made plans. Of course, they had to spend the entire weekend with Tae-yul, so they decided to meet late on a weekday afternoon, leaving Seo-yeon waiting for Jaehoon to get off work.
Not wanting to sneak out on Tae-yul, Seo-yeon had spent days trying to explain to him that he had to sleep with Mrs. Kim tonight and get his permission. But when Tae-yul came out holding dolls in both hands, staring at Seo-yeon and saying, “Tae-yul go too,” she almost said, “Okay, let’s go.”
But Seo-yeon squeezed her eyes shut, gave him a dramatic goodnight kiss, and left the house. That was an hour ago. Seo-yeon, who had wanted to come out ten minutes early to wait for Jaehoon, honestly already missed Tae-yul, but she tried to push the thought out of her head.
She smiled and looked around. It was a restaurant that she and Jaehoon had often visited before they had Tae-yul. It didn’t have private rooms or special rooms like a hotel or a first-class restaurant, but the food was still delicious. Jaehoon had enjoyed it, so Seo-yeon decided to have dinner here and then move on.
Seo-yeon, with her long hair casually swept up and wearing a dark green short jacket and matching long skirt, looked elegant and beautiful. So excited that she didn’t notice people were staring at her, she smiled brightly when a text message arrived on her phone.
-Arriving in ten minutes. I’m strangely excited.
“You too? I guess you can’t help being a couple.”
Seo-yeon whispered to herself and sent a reply.
-Excited? Not me. I’m hungry. Hurry up.
Instead of texting that she couldn’t stand missing him, Seo-yeon texted that she was hungry. Soon after, she received a text saying, “I’m a little disappointed,” but she just sent back a winking emoticon and put her phone down.
Seo-yeon was so busy texting Jaehoon that she didn’t notice someone approaching her. Just as she put her phone down and looked up, a neat and stylish man in his early thirties was standing there.
The man smiled at Seo-yeon with a twinkle in his eye.
Seo-yeon, who never imagined she would be hit on when she was wearing a wedding ring, asked kindly.
“Can I help you?”
“I was wondering if you were here alone. I’ve been watching for about ten minutes, and no one’s come. I don’t think there’s a man who would make a beautiful lady like you wait for ten minutes, or is there?”
Seo-yeon, thinking that the man’s face looked familiar, remembered the information she had received as soon as she arrived at Do-young Group. The information included profiles of the heirs of rival groups. If her memory was correct, it was definitely Cha Ha-jin, the second son of Hando Group, who had worked at the US branch for five years. She had read an article that he had recently been appointed as the vice president of Hando Group.
‘What should I do? I can’t act rashly because of Jaehoon’s reputation. But still, hitting on someone in a place like this is not okay.’
Thinking that he didn’t know the recent situation of Do-young Group because he hadn’t been back long, Seo-yeon tried to hide her smile as much as possible and spoke politely.
“He’ll be here soon. I was so excited that I came out early.”
Ha-jin’s eyes narrowed, and he raised the corners of his mouth as if he couldn’t believe it.
“It sounds like you’re putting up a defense. I don’t think there’s a man who could make you so excited that you’d come out earlier than your appointment time.”
“There is.”
Seo-yeon showed Ha-jin her hand with the wedding ring on it.
“My husband. It’s our first date alone in a long time. So please go and have your meal. Vice President Cha Ha-jin.”
Ha-jin’s smile slowly disappeared, and his gaze moved to Seo-yeon’s ringed finger.

“I said I’d be there in ten minutes, but I’m going to be even later.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know there would be an accident at the intersection.”
Hyun-shik was fidgeting as if it was his fault that the road was blocked due to the accident. It was the first time in a long time that the two of them had spent time together, so he wanted to arrive on time.
“Why is that your fault? Let’s take a safer route, even if it takes longer. Seo-yeon would prefer that. But isn’t it strange? I miss Tae-yul, but I hope he doesn’t look for me today. I’m sorry, but that’s how I feel.”
Jaehoon smiled and said.
“You look good. You look as good as you did back then.”
“Back then? When?”
“When Madam was Secretary Min, you brought her here.”
“I remember too.”
“You looked happy back then too.”
“Did I? I guess you can’t hide the feeling of love. You should hurry up and find someone too.”
“It’s something I can’t do alone, so I’m trying.”
“It’s not something you can do just by trying. Jaehoon smiled briefly, showing the composure of someone who has it all. Before he knew it, the car had arrived at the meeting place. As soon as the car stopped, he told Hyun-shik not to get out and to go back, and he hurried into the restaurant. Blocking the manager who was approaching quickly with his hand, Jaehoon found Seo-yeon at once. The expression on his face, which had been wearing an attractive smile, suddenly froze.
His eyes turned sharp, and he strode towards Seo-yeon.
“How do you know me?”
“I know you because of my previous job. So please go back.”
“Previous job… I don’t believe that you’re excited about your husband, but it’s also ridiculous that you know me because of your previous job. Am I on your list too? You don’t look ordinary at all.”
Seo-yeon’s expression turned cold at the insulting words. She glared at Ha-jin coldly. But Ha-jin seemed to find even that attractive, and suddenly his face came closer across the table. The moment she quickly pulled her body back, Ha-jin’s body was thrown back and he fell to the floor.
“Jaehoon…”
Seo-yeon looked at Jaehoon, who was glaring at Ha-jin with a scary expression and clenching his fist. Only then did Seo-yeon realize that Jaehoon had hit Ha-jin. She didn’t see Ha-jin rubbing his burst lip in pain. She was just angry at Ha-jin for ruining her long-awaited date with Jaehoon. But she didn’t think any more violence would be good, so Seo-yeon grabbed Jaehoon’s arm.
“Stop it.”
“That bastard was hitting on you, wasn’t he?”
“It was just for a moment.”
“Call Hyun-shik and tell him to come back, and you go outside.”
“Jaehoon.”
“Jaehoon…? Could it be Chairman Han Jaehoon?”
Ha-jin, who had gotten up while wiping the blood, looked at Jaehoon as if he couldn’t believe it.
“You… Cha Ha-jin?”
“Wait, is Chairman Han your husband?”
Ha-jin looked back and forth between Jaehoon and Seo-yeon, unable to close his mouth.
“I didn’t know.”
“What does that matter? Don’t expect to get away with hitting on my woman.”
“I heard that Chairman Han was married, but I really didn’t know it was… you.”
Jaehoon shook off Seo-yeon’s arm and grabbed Ha-jin by the collar. Whether he knew or not, he couldn’t forgive anyone who hit on Seo-yeon for any reason. He glared at Ha-jin, grabbing his collar.
“I don’t care about that. Don’t even look at this woman in the future. Otherwise, it won’t end with just this.”
“Just this? I’m bleeding. This is clearly assault. How can the chairman of Do-young Group commit assault?”
“Is it okay to hit on the wife of the chairman of Do-young Group? Try it if you want. I’ll make it so you can’t even set foot in Korea because of sexual harassment.”
Jaehoon seemed serious. Seo-yeon wanted to stop him at this point, but she didn’t want to anger him more by asking him to let go of Ha-jin while he was so excited.
Seo-yeon quietly put her hand on Jaehoon’s arm, which was grabbing his collar. His angry gaze turned to Seo-yeon. When she smiled softly, Jaehoon took a breath and let go of Ha-jin.
Seo-yeon looked straight at Ha-jin, who was stepping back, and opened her mouth.
