Perfect Possession - Episode 38
“Tae-yul, are you awake? But why are you dragging the blanket around like that?”
Tae-yul stared blankly at Seo-yeon, then slowly looked around the neatly organized room before lowering his eyes and raising the corners of his lips.
“Does Tae-yul like this room?”
Tae-yul nodded and dragged the blanket over. Seo-yeon stood still, watching to see what he would do. Tae-yul tossed the blanket in front of her and flopped down on it.
She smiled lovingly and lay down next to Tae-yul.
“If you’re sleepy, sleep more.”
In Tae-yul’s playroom, there was a large cushion big enough to lie down and sleep on. He almost always took his naps there, and even after waking up, he would come down from the cushion and play again by himself.
He must have woken up and come looking for Seo-yeon after hearing her voice.
“I’ll go downstairs and get some snacks.”
“Thank you.”
Seo-yeon decided to lie down with Tae-yul a little longer and gently patted her son’s back as he blinked his eyes. But he didn’t seem sleepy, pointing his finger at various places in the well-organized room.
Seo-yeon explained as her son’s finger moved.
“Those are Tae-yul’s clothes to wear at home, and, um, those are the clothes Tae-yul wears when he goes to the center or outside. Oh, and over there are the undershirts and underwear Tae-yul changes into after washing up. Mommy spent a lot of time organizing it. Do you like it?”
He still only said “Ugh” or “Um,” but Seo-yeon wasn’t impatient. Tae-yul, who used to have no expression, was now able to express all his emotions with his face and gestures.
Even now, his eyes were wide, his lips were wide open, and he was grinning from ear to ear.
“Oh my, you must like it a lot to be smiling like that. Later, give me a big smile that shakes this room. Oh, right, Tae-yul’s stroller came. Shall we go see it?”
Perhaps it was the first time he had heard about it, but Tae-yul suddenly jumped up from his spot and groped for Seo-yeon, who was lying down. Then he tried to take out the cell phone he had put in his pocket.
Seo-yeon knew why Tae-yul was looking for the cell phone. She had taught him words by showing him pictures, and Tae-yul remembered it well. When a word he didn’t know came up, he would tap the cell phone like that.
“Our son is a complete genius if you look at him. Mommy is sure of it. But I won’t make you study all the time.”
Seo-yeon laughed out loud and sat Tae-yul on her lap.
“A stroller is a car that Tae-yul rides in. Look.”
She found an image of a stroller on her phone and showed it to Tae-yul.
“Ummm.”
Judging by the long “Ummm” sound, he seemed curious and happy. After staring at it for a while, Tae-yul got up from Seo-yeon’s lap. He seemed impatient, his little hand pulling his mother as he ran.
Jia was on the verge of having cramps around her mouth from smiling so effortlessly. She watched Mina pour black tea into a sky-blue porcelain made in limited edition by a famous designer.
The MO Business Hotel, established with investment from J&D Company, had a dessert cafe famous for its black tea.
The reason it was famous was not only because you could drink the highest quality black tea, but also because of this luxury tea set. Since one cup cost hundreds of thousands to millions of won, the set was beyond words.
It was a luxury tea set used for ordinary customers, but since the vice president of J&D had come, the teacup Mina was holding would cost millions of won.
“If you had called in advance, I would have gone to J&D.”
Jia opened her mouth first because she hated the awkward silence. At the same time, she kept watching her expression to see if she knew about Jaehoon’s matter.
“You know, let’s talk comfortably like we did then. I want to call you Jia.”
“Y-yes, I’d like that too.”
Jia recalled the time when they had drinks together at the last meeting and decided to be sisters. She had thought that Mina, who was friendly to her, might become her wings, escaping Mi-ryung’s sight.
But after getting out of that atmosphere, she realized that Mina could only become her wings if she became the mistress of the Do-young family, and she distanced herself from her.
Jaehoon was so cold to Mina that Jia thought this marriage might be impossible. No matter how much Chairman Han wanted it, it couldn’t be done if Jaehoon didn’t want it.
‘But now it’s completely gone.’
However, since she couldn’t say it herself, Jia pretended not to know and put on a happy face.
“Okay, sister.”
‘She definitely doesn’t know. Okay, let’s push it.’
Jia didn’t know why Mina had come to see her, but she was sure she didn’t know that Jaehoon had a son.
“Jia, arrange a meeting with the vice chairman for me.”
“Me… I mean, me?”
“Yes. Naturally, without parents involved. You know Jaehoon’s route, right? Just let me know, and I’ll take care of the rest.”
“Of course. If both parents are involved, the atmosphere will be stiff anyway.”
If she wanted to, Jia also had the ability to figure out Jaehoon’s route. She wouldn’t be able to find out through Hyun-shik, who was pickier than Sung-joon, but there were three more secretaries in the vice chairman’s office.
Even if they were secretarial staff, they wouldn’t know Jaehoon’s personal movements, but they would know the official ones.
“I’ll find out. Without Madam knowing.”
Mina seemed to want to move without Mi-ryung knowing, so Jia said that. As if her thoughts were correct, Mina’s lips curved smoothly upward.
“This is.”
Mina took out an envelope with a luxury bag logo from Cheongdam-dong from her handbag.
“It’s nothing special, it’s an exchange ticket for a bag. The new one is pretty good. Get one you like. It’s a small gift.”
Jia, who had no rights to Do-young because of her father, who had been kicked out of Chairman Han’s eyes for embezzling company money, couldn’t easily buy a bag worth tens of millions of won.
Moreover, Jia was such a bag mania that she poured everything she had into bags. With this alone, she already wanted to be loyal to Mina.
“Thank you, sister. It’s hard to get the new one here, regardless of the price. As expected, the power of the vice president of J&D is amazing. I’ll find out the most natural schedule to meet as soon as possible.”
Jia put the envelope in her bag with a satisfied smile. She felt a gaze watching them from somewhere, but she dismissed it because there would be no staff drinking tea at the business hotel cafe during work hours.
Jia smiled back at Mina’s smile, her mouth splitting open.
Jaehoon, who had something that had to be done on the first day he was supposed to go to the center, went to work first. Since the consultation was at 11 o’clock, he decided to hurry as much as possible and move together.
“Tae-yul, you know you’re going to play with Mommy and Daddy today, right? There are so many toys there.”
Seo-yeon carefully applied non-sticky lotion to Tae-yul’s body after he came out of the shower. The diaper rash was almost gone, but the heat rash was still there.
However, she couldn’t turn on the air conditioner strongly. It was okay during the day, but he sweated a lot when he slept, so the heat rash on his neck and armpits didn’t go away easily.
“But it doesn’t seem to itch much. He doesn’t scratch or anything.”
Kim said as Seo-yeon gently touched the area around the heat rash.
“That’s what he does. Thank goodness, our son. Wow, he looks really handsome when he’s combed like this.”
She neatly combed Tae-yul’s hair and styled it into a pomade style. He had a lot of hair, so it was fun to touch.
However, Tae-yul, who glanced at himself in the mirror, didn’t like it and hugged Seo-yeon and rubbed his head.
“Tae-yul.”
“Oh my.”
The hair rubbed against her chest was cutely tangled, covering half of her face. Seo-yeon laughed loudly and combed it neatly again with her hands.
“You didn’t like it when I put it up like that.”
“Ugh.”
Tae-yul lowered his hips and then stood up straight. Whenever he did that, a shout of energy leaked out.
“So cute.”
Seo-yeon hugged Tae-yul and kissed him, then finished dressing him. They had to arrive by 10 o’clock at the latest, so there wasn’t much time. It was her first time going out with Tae-yul, so there were many things to pack.
“Daddy has to leave as soon as he comes, so let’s get ready quickly before that.”
She checked to see if anything was missing and hurried to prepare to go out.
Jaehoon signed the last document and hurriedly got up.
“Pass it on to Manager Lim and you follow me.”
Jaehoon put on the jacket Hyun-shik handed him and looked at his wristwatch. He had to leave right away to arrive before 10 o’clock.
“Let’s go.”
“Yes, Vice Chairman.”
As soon as Hyun-shik came out of the vice chairman’s office, he gave some instructions to Manager Lim, who was waiting, and immediately followed Jaehoon.
When the elevator for executives stopped on the 21st floor, Jaehoon felt even that moment when the door opened was long.
As the door opened with a ding, Jaehoon felt so annoyed that he couldn’t control himself. Chairman Han was standing in the elevator with Director Park.
“Where are you going?”
Chairman Han frowned and spoke.
“Oh, I almost missed you if I was a little late.”
Director Park greeted him happily and approached Jaehoon. Everyone knew that Jaehoon was close to Director Park among the directors.
Director Park, the son of a founding member, had a good relationship with Jaehoon despite the large age difference. The fact that Chairman Han appeared with such Director Park clearly meant that he intended to persuade Jaehoon by putting him forward.
“Are you here to see me?”
“Chairman Han and I had a bowl of hoe-deopbap for breakfast and came to see the vice chairman’s face. I was curious because I canceled the meeting last time. Where are you going?”
Jaehoon looked at Chairman Han and then shifted his gaze back to Director Park.
“I’m sorry. I’ll call you again in the afternoon. I’m a little busy right now.”
“Don’t you have time for a cup of tea?”
Chairman Han said, expressing his displeasure.
“I have something to do at home. Then, Director Park, I’ll call you in the afternoon.”
Jaehoon bowed briefly and passed them to get on the elevator. As he was about to press the button, Director Park turned around and asked.
“Vice Chairman, Tae-yul is it true?”
He called his name instead of saying ‘son’ because he was cautious because he was in the company.
“Yes. I’m going to meet Tae-yul now. I believe you will understand.”
When Jaehoon gestured, Hyun-shik closed the elevator door without hesitation.
