Perfect Possession - Episode 33
“I’ve come to see my grandson.”
Mi-ryung’s voice always had something that ruthlessly trampled on people’s nerves. It not only made the other person feel unpleasant but even instilled fear.
The thought that it was impossible to have a conversation with her made one retreat before even opening their mouth.
Seo-yeon was like that at first too. But as she fell in love with Jaehoon, she was able to suppress that feeling. Whenever Mi-ryung spoke to her, she would answer as politely and confidently as possible.
But even then, Mi-ryung didn’t think well of Seo-yeon. She was so upset and curious as to why, but now that she thought about it, Mi-ryung seemed to have sensed that Jaehoon would end up like this.
In short, Mi-ryung was a scary woman who could read several moves ahead of others. Even facing such a woman, Seo-yeon felt neither fear nor even tension now.
She only wanted to send her away quickly and return to Tae-yul.
“Before being your granddaughter, he is my son. I can’t let you meet him right now.”
In a calm voice, Seo-yeon answered, suppressing her emotions as much as possible.
“How dare you?”
From the suppressed voice, she realized that Mi-ryung’s self-control was wavering a lot. It must be because her emotions had flared up for a moment due to Seo-yeon’s unexpected attitude.
But Mi-ryung’s self-control seemed to be the best in the world. She quickly returned to her original state and continued, looking down on people as much as possible.
“I’ve come to see our son’s son, not your son. You have no right to do this.”
“Did you mention rights? Then I’ll assert my rights a little bit too.”
Seo-yeon would not forgive Mi-ryung, who had cleverly separated the two by using money, just like Sung-hee, who had said the child was dead and left him with someone else. Since she wasn’t afraid of her, there was nothing she couldn’t say.
“Rights?”
Seo-yeon stood neatly with her hands folded politely, and opened her mouth without a moment’s hesitation.
“I can’t let you, who brought the team leader there, offered a large sum of money, and made them misunderstand each other and break up, meet my precious son. That’s my right. If you feel wronged, do it according to the law you like.”
Even the sound of breathing in the room froze coldly. Jia, who had been darting her eyes around, couldn’t close her mouth, and Butler Park was also greatly surprised and stopped breathing.
Seo-yeon almost laughed. She often hated Jia more, who didn’t know how scary the world was, trusting in Mi-ryung’s backing, more than Mi-ryung. Seo-yeon wanted to laugh at her dazed appearance.
Soon, Mi-ryung regained her composure, readjusting the bag she was holding. She clearly saw from Seo-yeon’s brown eyes, filled with venom, that what she had just said was sincere.
Mi-ryung had always ridiculed the old saying that even a cornered person would squirm if stepped on. Her way was to trample them even more mercilessly so that they wouldn’t even have time to squirm.
But now, she realized that if she touched Seo-yeon, she would be the one to suffer instead.
Mi-ryung slowly opened her mouth, grinding her teeth.
“It seems like you’re misunderstanding something, so I’ll go back today. But I’m only putting up with this impudent attitude this once. Let’s go, Jia.”
“Yes, Great Aunt.”
Mi-ryung passed by Seo-yeon, glaring at her coldly as if she were looking at a bug. Jia, who was following behind her, bumped her shoulder hard against Seo-yeon’s body as she passed.
The force made Seo-yeon stagger to the side as if she would fall. Jia’s snort was grating on her ears.
“Hmph! Crazy bitch.”
Seo-yeon barely avoided falling with the support of Butler Park, who quickly approached. She straightened her body and called out to Jia.
“Team Leader, I’m only putting up with this ignorant behavior this once.”
Mi-ryung, who was going outside, couldn’t control her expression and distorted it. She turned back to Seo-yeon with a menacing look, then glared at Jia with the same gaze.
“Useless thing.”
Mi-ryung spat out a word and left as if she didn’t want to stay any longer. Jia, whose face turned bright red because of that, couldn’t say a word to Seo-yeon and followed Mi-ryung out.
“Madam, are you alright?”
“I’m fine. See them off.”
Seo-yeon said to Butler Park, exhaling the breath she had been holding in. Even if Seo-yeon was okay, Butler Park couldn’t possibly turn Mi-ryung away.
As if his feet wouldn’t move, Butler Park reluctantly went outside, and Seo-yeon grabbed the sofa to support herself.
Only then did the strength leave her fingertips, and the surroundings became blurry as if a yellow film had been put over them. Seo-yeon straightened her body and took a breath.
“It’s okay. You did well. You did well. This is nothing.”
Seo-yeon wanted to praise herself. She was grateful for Jaehoon’s words not to lose to anyone. If it weren’t for those words, she wouldn’t have been able to do this.
Although she was the one who made Tae-yul like that, Mi-ryung was also Jaehoon’s parent. Seo-yeon calmed her mind and tried to smile brightly. She had to go back to Tae-yul, but she didn’t want to show it on her face.
Even if he didn’t say it, he was a quick-witted child. In particular, he seemed to instinctively recognize the subtle emotional changes of adults.
“It’s okay! Tae-yul, this is nothing to Mom.”
After saying it out loud as if chanting a spell, her heart felt much lighter. She hurried back to Tae-yul. As she entered the room, Tae-yul was the first to jump up and run to her in an instant.
“Tae-yul, slowly…”
Before she could finish speaking, Seo-yeon hugged Tae-yul, who hugged her tightly, with tears in her eyes. But she quickly swallowed her tears and said brightly.
“Did our son wait for Mom? I said I’d be back soon. How many numbers did the teacher count to?”
“Ninety-eight. Well, he kept shouting half of half in that part, but I don’t know if he thought it was wrong or if he was just repeating the same words, but he shook his head passionately later.”
“Really?”
“That’s right. Seo-yeon came just when I thought it wouldn’t work. Thank you for saving me.”
Seo-yeon smiled at Tae-yul, touching her face to his cheek. Surprisingly, Tae-yul touched Seo-yeon’s eyes and lowered the corners of her eyes. He seemed to like Seo-yeon’s eyes, which curved beautifully into a crescent shape.
“It’s a really amazing development. Sometimes when I look at Tae-yul, I can’t believe he doesn’t open his mouth. He’s showing all his emotions.”
“Is that good?”
Jae-moon, who was getting ready to leave, approached.
“Of course. I think you can come to the center for counseling from next week. He may open his mouth before that, but still get counseling for a while. Trauma can remain in the subconscious.”
“Yes. Thank you, Teacher.”
As Jae-moon left, Seo-yeon took Tae-yul out to the garden. She was worried that he was only wearing a thin T-shirt, so she tried to put a light jumper on him, but he glanced at it once and pointed to the swing.
“Hey, it’s still cold outside. You can wear it and take it off when you get hot.”
Tae-yul pretended to think for a moment, then shook his head again and tried to push the jumper away. Seo-yeon laughed loudly. She was so proud of Tae-yul, who was now clearly expressing his opinion that he didn’t like it if he didn’t like it.
Jaehoon would know that Mi-ryung had come, even if she didn’t say it. His heart would also be heavy. But if she told him about Tae-yul’s changes, he would surely smile as happily as she did.
“Okay. But you have to wear it if you get cold.”
Seo-yeon took Tae-yul’s hand and walked to the swing. Tae-yul, who was walking as if dragging Seo-yeon because he was in a hurry, made Seo-yeon’s smile never cease.
Jaehoon, who returned to the vice-chairman’s office after the meeting of executives, didn’t even frown when he saw Chairman Han sitting there. He wasn’t surprised because he had expected it.
“How’s work?”
Chairman Han asked, putting down his coffee cup.
“It’s going smoothly.”
Jaehoon answered briefly and went to the desk instead of the sofa where Chairman Han was sitting.
“Come and sit over here.”
Chairman Han said, frowning deeply.
“Speak.”
Jaehoon looked up at Chairman Han, but didn’t go to sit on the sofa.
“Stubborn as ever. Is it true that you have a son with that girl?”
Jaehoon swallowed a laugh and stared at Chairman Han. Jaehoon knew very well that Chairman Han, who was only interested in company matters and his own affairs, thought of him as part of the company.
However, Jaehoon didn’t blame Chairman Han for that. He had similar thoughts. Jaehoon felt exhilaration every time he completed a difficult project.
There was definitely a time when he was grateful for being born into the Do-young family, which allowed him to fully demonstrate his abilities.
But that was over now. He had no intention of putting up with Chairman Han, who ignored Seo-yeon and even regarded Tae-yul as part of the Do-young Group.
Jaehoon couldn’t help but laugh and opened his mouth.
“Han Tae-yul. He’s Seo-yeon and my son. But what does that have to do with you, Father?”
Jaehoon said coldly as if telling him to stop interfering.
“What does it have to do with me? How can it not matter when he’s my grandson?”
“Don’t call him your grandson!”
“Are you crazy?”
“If I were crazy, would I just stand by and watch my mother or the father who condoned it! Do you know how hard it was for my son to come back into our arms? You two will have to take responsibility for that. If you don’t want to see me really go crazy and run wild, never talk about Seo-yeon or my son in front of me again.”
“What, what is it? This bastard has lost his mind because of a woman.”
“Didn’t you hear me? I just said that if I go crazy, it won’t end like this. Chief Jung!”
Jaehoon shouted loudly for Hyun-shik, as if he was really about to go crazy and run wild. Hyun-shik, who immediately came inside, bowed to Chairman Han.
“The chairman is leaving.”
“Chairman, please leave now.”
“Where did this bastard learn to wag his tongue?”
Chairman Han grabbed Hyun-shik by the collar. Jaehoon glared at Chairman Han menacingly and said.
“Let him go. Otherwise, I’ll personally reveal my father’s scandals, which are spreading all sorts of rumors.”
“You, you crazy bastard!”
Chairman Han, startled, released Hyun-shik’s collar in confusion and couldn’t continue speaking in a trembling voice. He wondered if Jaehoon was the son he knew.
“Are you serious?”
“Of course. You’ve always told me that there’s no use in being polite to cowardly people, Father. Now that I think about it, those are very good words.”
Jaehoon raised the corners of his lips diagonally and smiled coldly. Chairman Han felt that there was no use in saying more, so he pushed Hyun-shik away and left the room.
Jaehoon, who had been glaring at the door he had disappeared through, sat down at his desk and opened the documents as if nothing had happened.
“Vice Chairman.”
Hyun-shik hesitated and stopped speaking, then opened his mouth again.
“It seems that the Great Madam came to your house asking to see the young master.”
Jaehoon raised his head with a terrifying look that couldn’t be compared to the look he had given Chairman Han earlier.
