Perfect Possession - Episode 31
Jaehoon wanted to spend a little more time with Tae-yul, who had woken up early, so he delayed his departure for work by 30 minutes. He watched Seo-yeon feeding Tae-yul, her face bright with smiles.
Jaehoon hadn’t realized how much he had missed seeing her like this.
Last night, Jaehoon finally escaped the hell of the past two years without Seo-yeon, a time that had been devastating and filled with despair. Had Seo-yeon felt the same way?
Jaehoon slowly observed her smiling face and Tae-yul, who was happily eating the food his mom was giving him instead of using a spoon himself.
Tae-yul received the food Seo-yeon offered with a relaxed expression, fiddling with his doll. He touched its ears and stroked its nose. Every now and then, he would make eye contact with Seo-yeon and then look back at Jaehoon.
When Tae-yul looked at him, Jaehoon gently smiled. Pleased by this, Tae-yul slightly lowered the corners of his eyes and quickly accepted the food Seo-yeon offered.
At that moment, a small movement caught Jaehoon’s eye. Looking down, he saw Tae-yul wiggling his feet back and forth.
It was as if he was moving his feet to the rhythm of a cheerful song. Jaehoon’s neatly trimmed eyebrows involuntarily rose. He quietly called out to Seo-yeon, careful not to startle Tae-yul.
“Seo-yeon.”
Seo-yeon, who had been wiping food from the corner of Tae-yul’s mouth, looked at Jaehoon with a smiling face.
“Are you leaving for work?”
“Just look under the table.”
“Why… oh.”
Following Jaehoon’s gaze, Seo-yeon looked under the table and couldn’t finish her sentence. She, too, could see Tae-yul’s feet wiggling merrily.
Seo-yeon had been feeling that Tae-yul was opening up to her more and more each day. Just today, he had handed her the spoon he was holding when she asked, “Should I feed you?”
When she asked, “What should we eat?” Tae-yul had directly pointed at the meat with his finger. Seo-yeon felt like she was flying just from that, and now seeing him moving his feet as if he was enjoying himself filled her heart.
That small movement was a great source of emotion for Seo-yeon and Jaehoon. They didn’t yet know if Tae-yul recognized them as his parents, but it was clear that he trusted them.
“Our son, are you in a good mood today?”
Seo-yeon couldn’t help but notice her voice trembling slightly.
Tae-yul, who was munching on his food, surprisingly nodded his head in response to the question, “Are you happy?” Then, he lifted his dog doll up to his chin and pressed down on its head with his hand. It seemed he wanted to show them the doll nodding.
“The doggy is happy too?”
Tae-yul immediately nodded again this time. The child pointed to the braised tofu with his hand and opened his mouth. Tae-yul liked the braised tofu with crab meat on top, seasoned with soy sauce.
“He likes tofu.”
“I think he likes the crab meat more.”
Seo-yeon scraped together more of the crab meat next to her and put it in his mouth along with a piece of tofu.
“You like crab dishes too, don’t you?”
Seo-yeon looked at Jaehoon and smiled brightly. She often smiled with her eyes when she smiled comfortably. Jaehoon liked that smile of Seo-yeon’s because it gave off a different vibe.
At that moment, Jaehoon seemed to understand why Tae-yul’s eyes drooped whenever he was in a good mood.
“I finally get it.”
“Get what?”
“What Tae-yul’s face will look like when he smiles brightly.”
“How would you know? I can only imagine it.”
“You said so yourself. That his eyes droop.”
Jaehoon shrugged at Seo-yeon, who was staring at him intently.
“Could it be…”
Seo-yeon knew that she smiled with her eyes when she was in a good mood. The thought that Tae-yul might have taken after her made her heart flutter. Her desire to see that face grew even stronger.
“It’s definitely like your eye smile. Smile like that a lot. He’ll definitely smile along without even realizing it. Oh, and smile at me a lot too.”
Jaehoon put down the teacup he was holding and stood up from his seat. He had something to take care of before Chairman Han came to work, so he couldn’t delay any longer, though he was sad to leave.
“Are you leaving for work now?”
“Keep feeding him.”
“He’s all done. Tae-yul, should we say, ‘Have a good day at work, Daddy,’ and wave bye-bye?”
Seo-yeon waved her hand and smiled with her eyes, just as Jaehoon had said. Then, Tae-yul clearly lowered the corners of his eyes and reached out his arms. It seemed like he wanted to be taken down from the chair.
“I’ll hold you.”
Jaehoon picked up Tae-yul and took him down from the chair. He wanted to carry him, but Tae-yul kept looking at the floor, as if he wanted to get down.
Sure enough, as soon as he was placed on the floor, Tae-yul nodded his head at Ms. Kim and Butler Park and started walking towards the door.
At first, he walked one step at a time, following Seo-yeon with his eyes, but soon he picked up the pace with quick little steps. Then, when he got to the hallway, he started walking quickly.
“He’s going to run.”
“Maybe he’ll run like an Olympic athlete?”
At Seo-yeon’s words, Jaehoon turned to look at her. She looked up at Jaehoon, who was staring at her, with a puzzled expression.
“What is it?”
“Are you a good runner? Sung-joon said that kids can run surprisingly fast.”
“My friends are all married. They know more than we do. He’s been bothering me with advice on the phone every day lately. And don’t call me Director. Have you forgotten that we’re married? You must have another name for me.”
“Brother-in-law?”
“Whatever.”
“What do you mean, ‘Whatever’? Well, it feels more awkward to call you Brother-in-law than Director.”
Seo-yeon stopped walking as she looked at the decorations in the hallway, watching Tae-yul, and suppressed a laugh. Jaehoon had a habit of answering “Whatever” to ambiguous things.
“It’s better than Director.”
Jaehoon gently took Seo-yeon’s hand as she looked at Tae-yul. A loving gaze immediately turned to him.
“Tae-yul is changing.”
“Yes.”
“I hope he doesn’t remember anything. If he doesn’t remember, he won’t be in pain.”
“We just have to love him enough so that he doesn’t remember.”
Seo-yeon said brightly and held his hand tightly. Jaehoon smiled and said happily.
“I forgot. How strong you are.”
“Oh, right, there are a few problems with you, though.”
“With me?”
“Well, Tae-yul took after you in those areas. Being too neat and tidy, and being a bit of a picky eater.”
“Picky eater?”
Jaehoon asked with a dumbfounded expression.
“You know, your favorite dishes. When I watch, he only eats the other things once, but Tae-yul reaches for your favorites several times. Like the crab meat this morning.”
“I don’t feel like it’s worth talking about. Tae-yul.”
Jaehoon didn’t have anything to say, so he called out to Tae-yul and approached his son.
Seo-yeon’s heart felt like it was going to burst with happiness. Tears welled up in her eyes as if seeping in. She held back her tears and smiled brightly.
“Tae-yul, hold Mommy’s hand too.”
Seo-yeon called out to her son, who was walking away holding Jaehoon’s hand, and Tae-yul stopped and reached out his hand. She took Tae-yul’s hand and went out to see Jaehoon off.
Ms. Kim and Butler Park, who were watching the scene, were deeply moved and eventually shed tears. It reminded them of the late Chairman and Madam, who were the only ones in the Do-young family who had a good relationship.
They had only served the two of them for a short time when they were young, but they had always looked after each other and looked at each other like the two people in front of them.
“It’s so nice to see.”
“It is. We should call her Madam now. She’s the Vice Chairman’s wife.”
Ms. Kim said, her voice choked with emotion.

Sung-joon’s half-sister, Jia, was the team leader of the accounting team at Do-young Group. She didn’t have any special abilities, but she was good at studying, so she obtained a CPA license as Mi-ryung instructed and immediately joined the accounting team at Do-young Group.
After a one-year probationary period, she was appointed as the team leader of the accounting team. However, Jaehoon didn’t like that, so Jia knew very well that her position was in danger if she made even the slightest mistake.
That’s why she had no choice but to stick closer to Mi-ryung. Unlike Sung-joon, who was talented and had caught Jaehoon’s eye, she was always conscious of him in the company.
“Grandmother, is that… is that true?”
Jia quickly lowered her voice when Mi-ryung glared at her.
“Do you think I would call you here from this morning to tell you a joke?”
“No! You wouldn’t do that. But it’s so… it’s something I never imagined.”
Jia took a deep breath and sat back down.
“Is he really Vice Chairman’s son?”
“Do you think Jaehoon would bring him into the house if he wasn’t his child? Stand up.”
“Yes?”
Jia watched Mi-ryung, who had stood up, smooth out the wrinkles in her coral-colored dress, and slowly followed her. No matter how Mi-ryung was, she wouldn’t be thinking of going to Jaehoon’s house, would she?
“Where are you going?”
Mi-ryung stared at Jia as if asking how she could ask such a stupid question.
“I have to see my grandson.”
“But if Vice Chairman finds out, he won’t let it go.”
“That’s not something you need to worry about. You should tell Mina to keep her mouth shut. You know that the Chairman is very interested in her marriage with Jaehoon, right?”
“Yes, Grandmother.”
“And Jia.”
At Mi-ryung’s voice, which softly called her name, Jia swallowed nervously with a tense expression.
“You planned that from beginning to end.”
‘That means the thing about giving money to Secretary Min’s mother? What, are you planning to put the blame on me?’
Jaehoon’s face flashed through her mind for a moment, but Jia pushed the thought away and thought of Chairman Han. Jaehoon breaking up with Secretary Min was what Chairman Han wanted most.
So Jia knew exactly which side she should be on. No matter how Jaehoon was, it would be difficult to break the stubbornness of Chairman Han and Mi-ryung.
“Of course. I’ll meet Secretary Min’s mother again and tell her to keep her mouth shut.”
“She’s dead. That person.”
“Oh, really? Then there’s nothing to worry about, right?”
Jia was relieved and regained her color. She would have been in trouble if Sunghui, who was crazy about money, demanded money again for that matter.
But now that she was dead, Jia thought that there would be no problem as long as they were careful.
“Make it so that you planned everything, including meeting that person and getting rid of that child. I only gave the money as you told me to.”
“Of course. Don’t worry, Grandmother. I’ll accompany you to Vice Chairman’s house.”
Jia spoke loudly and headed to Jaehoon’s house with Mi-ryung.
