Perfect Possession - Episode 28
When Tae-yul fussed while getting his teeth brushed, Seo-yeon was overjoyed. She felt sorry for waking him, but hearing his voice made her want to shout for Jaehoon. It was such a cute and lovely sound.
“Tae-yul, Mommy won’t rush you and will wait. But before that, it’s okay to cry a lot, just let me hear your voice. Sleep well, Tae-yul. Seo-yeon kissed his forehead and got up. She glanced at her pillow next to Tae-yul’s before turning to Mrs. Kim.
“Could you stay with him for a bit? He doesn’t seem to wake up or anything while sleeping. Though he does seem to go to bed early in the evening.”
She said with a gentle smile. Seo-yeon had been surprised when Tae-yul had opened his eyes wide a little after 6 PM. She wondered if he had a nightmare, but that was just when he woke up after sleeping.
“Yes, don’t worry and go ahead.” I’m just going to talk to Jaehoon for a bit.””
Mrs. Kim probably just meant for her to go, but Seo-yeon’s face flushed for no reason. Feeling embarrassed, she avoided Mrs. Kim’s gaze and turned away.
Leaving the room, she wondered why her face had turned red, but she couldn’t quite figure it out. There was nothing to be ashamed of.
“She must have thought it was strange.” Seo-yeon muttered to herself as she headed to the study where Jaehoon was waiting.” Before knocking, she took a slow, deep breath, feeling unusually nervous.
There was nothing special about today, so there was no reason to be nervous, but it was strange. She shook her head briefly, her mind becoming complicated with unnecessary thoughts, and knocked on the door.
The door opened immediately. Nine times out of ten, Jaehoon opened the door himself when Seo-yeon knocked. She looked up at him, who was staring intently at her.
“How’s Tae-yul?”
“Sleeping.” Jaehoon stepped aside to let her in, and Seo-yeon entered his study for the first time in two years.” Her gaze immediately fell on the large sofa in the center of the room.
The study, and that sofa, was where they had first made love.
During an important project, the two of them had been working late at the office with Hyun-shik before moving to Jaehoon’s house.
Usually, they would work all night in a hotel, but Jaehoon didn’t like hotels, so they often worked in his study.
That day, for some reason, Hyun-shik had gone home first. He said he would leave if they called a taxi, but Jaehoon refused.
Seeing him so adamantly refuse, Seo-yeon realized that she also wanted what Jaehoon wanted. When he reached out his hand, Seo-yeon didn’t hesitate to take it.
Without even taking the time to go to the bedroom, they made love. Right on the sofa that Seo-yeon was now staring at.
As the events of that day vividly came to mind, Seo-yeon snapped out of it and spoke.
“Tae-yul fussed a little.” Jaehoon, who had been picking up documents on his desk, looked up, his dark eyes gleaming.”
“Fussed? Did he say something?”
“No. He just woke up briefly while brushing his teeth. He went ‘Eung, eung’ and scrunched up his face here.” Seo-yeon pointed to her forehead, imitating Tae-yul.”
It wasn’t like he had said he didn’t like it, it was just a whimper mixed with his breath. But Seo-yeon was happy to be able to tell Jaehoon about Tae-yul’s change.
“I was happy. I was hoping he would cry any minute.”
“Don’t be too impatient.”
“Okay.”
“I have something to show you.” Jaehoon handed Seo-yeon the envelope he had picked up.”
“It’s the marriage certificate. Jae-moon and Seongjun were the witnesses.” Seo-yeon stared at Jaehoon.” He wasn’t the type to lie or joke about something like this. So, this was definitely a document proving that they were married.
But he handed it to Seo-yeon as casually as if he were giving her a gift he had just bought. Her hand trembled as she reached for the envelope, so she paused to take a breath.
Seeing Seo-yeon hesitate and stand still, Jaehoon spoke.
“I went to the main house. I told them I would be with you and told them about Tae-yul.” Seo-yeon had expected that.” Jaehoon wasn’t the type to hide Tae-yul because he was afraid of Chairman Han or Mi-ryung. He was the type to get what he wanted through a head-on confrontation.
Seo-yeon read through the marriage certificate. She stared unblinking at the two names listed as the parties to the marriage.
“The main house won’t just stand by and watch.”
“It’s okay. I won’t let Madam do anything to me anymore.” Seo-yeon answered as soon as Jaehoon finished speaking.”
“I won’t let anyone do anything to you.”
“Thank you.”
“I told you I don’t want to hear that.”
“But I’m grateful.”
“Every time you say thank you, I feel like I’m your boss, and I don’t like that. It’s like you’re saying thank you because you have to. I don’t want to feel that kind of shitty feeling.” In the blink of an eye, Jaehoon, who was right in front of her, grabbed Seo-yeon’s arm and pulled her close until their chests were touching.”
“It’s not just your fault. I’m just as much of a sinner to Tae-yul as you are. Let’s not say thank you or sorry to each other, we’re both at fault.” Jaehoon. “..”
“You know I don’t want this marriage relationship written on some piece of paper, right?” Seo-yeon could clearly understand what he was trying to say.” The desire spreading in his dark eyes was conveyed to her as well.
“Say it.”
“…I know.”
“The two years I spent searching for you were the most hellish in my life.” Seo-yeon’s heart felt like it would burst at the heavy voice that revealed his painful feelings.” The heat that started from his hand on her shoulder quickly spread throughout her body.
“I remembered your voice every day before I went to sleep because I wanted to hear it, even just a little. And when I felt like I was going crazy, I would listen to that painful voice again, as if cutting it out with a knife. What else would that be if not crazy?”
“I’m sorry.”
“I told you I don’t want to hear that. I don’t believe in love or anything like that. I don’t even know what it is. But I can abandon Do-young to protect you and Tae-yul. Isn’t that enough?”
“Don’t do that.”
“Answer the question. Isn’t that enough?” Seo-yeon couldn’t fully understand what Jaehoon was trying to say.”
Even when they were dating, he would often ask her this.
‘You’re dangerous to me. I’m like a beast that might pounce on you at any moment. You wouldn’t call this love, would you? Is it possible to feel this way with just desire? Behind the self-deprecating smile, Seo-yeon could feel that he was clumsily trying to love. So, she didn’t hide her feelings.
Seo-yeon’s love for Jaehoon had never changed. The hating and resenting were just the only things she could do.
In order to escape self-pity, she had no choice but to hate him and struggle against him.
Seo-yeon slowly reached out and caressed Jaehoon’s face.
“That’s enough. Tae-yul is our child, so let’s protect him together. You don’t have to block everything by yourself. I promise. No matter what anyone says, I won’t hide anything from you anymore. I’ll tell you everything. So, don’t make that face.”
“Promise me you’ll never leave again.”
“I won’t leave.” Jaehoon gripped the hand that was touching his face painfully.” He stared at Seo-yeon as if he would devour her eyes. The question, ‘Is it because of Tae-yul?’ was about to burst out of his mouth, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it.
Right now, it didn’t matter if it was because of Tae-yul. If that was the excuse to keep her by his side, that was enough.
Jaehoon took Seo-yeon’s hand and lowered it, his gaze sliding to her lips. He thought about Tae-yul sleeping alone. He was still in an unfamiliar place, so he might wake up and be anxious if Seo-yeon wasn’t there.
Logically, he knew he should send Seo-yeon back. But his body, which had felt her warmth, was thinking differently.
“Your place is in my room.” Seo-yeon couldn’t breathe when he said it in such a calm tone.” The hand he was holding hurt. The throbbing and tingling sensation made her chest ache as if desire was seeping in.
She had to go back to Tae-yul, but she couldn’t push him away or pull her hand out of his grasp.
“F-for the time being, by Tae-yul’s side…”
“If you want a wedding, I’ll give you a grand one. I was in a hurry to become a perfect family before going to the main house, so I registered the marriage first, but if you want, I’ll do that.”
“This is enough.” Seo-yeon had never even thought about a grand wedding.”
She was already grateful to Jaehoon just for the marriage certificate. Now she could proudly say that she was his wife in front of anyone.
Not as Vice Chairman Min’s secretary, but as Min Seo-yeon. That was enough.
“I can do anything else you want, but not the bedroom. Jaehoon’s gaze returned to Seo-yeon. Her lips, where his gaze lingered, felt like they were burning, but Seo-yeon couldn’t even wet them.
“Tae-yul is anxious.”
“You have to look after me too. I just told you I searched for you like crazy.” Jaehoon hugged Seo-yeon tightly, their bodies overlapping.”
She swallowed the scream that was about to burst out. When the hardened sensation pressed against Seo-yeon’s stomach, her body became wet. It was inevitable. Seo-yeon wanted to feel him as much as Jaehoon wanted to feel her.
“Do I have to endure this too?”
“I…”
She wanted to say no, to ask for a little time, but the words wouldn’t come out properly. Seo-yeon couldn’t exhale or inhale, and she closed her eyes at the heat she felt in her lower abdomen.
“Open your eyes and look at me.” Jaehoon’s mind was a mess with maddening desire.” He couldn’t control the strength of his hands that were wrapped around her firm hips.
The thought that it might hurt was only for a moment. Driven by the desire to touch her soft, bare skin, Jaehoon pulled up her skirt.
As the skirt was pulled up to her thighs, Seo-yeon opened her eyes and looked at him. His dark eyes, revealing his desire, were staring at her as if he would devour her.
Without realizing it, Seo-yeon grabbed his hand that was groping above her thigh. She realized how big of a mistake that was even before her body became wet.
