Over The Top! He Keeps Making the Gold-Digging Alpha Cry - Chapter 59
The harsh, grating sound made Xu Wanxing suspect that in a moment, students downstairs would start cursing in the dorm building group chat.
Xu Wanxing tentatively asked, “What’s wrong?”
Pei Yu stood there, his eyes red-rimmed. “Nothing.” His voice was choked with sobs.
Xu Wanxing: That doesn’t sound like nothing.
Pei Yu didn’t bother picking up the fallen chair. He just stood there, his fingers trembling, staring at his phone screen.
Xu Wanxing’s heart sank. Could this really be because of something he did?
The next second, his friend request was accepted.
“Pei Yu: Why are you adding me again?”
To prevent Pei Yu from noticing, Xu Wanxing hid in the bathroom to reply.
“Wanxing: Brother, why did you delete me? Can you give me a reason?”
Beating around the bush was too much trouble. He went straight for it.
He wanted to see if Pei Yu’s behavior was related to him.
Xu Wanxing stood in the bathroom for five minutes. Pei Yu still hadn’t replied.
Suddenly, the bathroom door was knocked a few times.
Was he discovered?!
Xu Wanxing’s heart pounded with panic, his mind racing. He forced his voice to be steady. “W-what’s wrong?”
Pei Yu’s voice came from outside the door. “Can you hurry up?”
Xu Wanxing quickly turned on the faucet to disguise the sound, washed his clean hands, and pushed the door open.
The moment he stepped out, he bumped right into Pei Yu’s arms.
Pei Yu’s chest was very solid, hard, and elastic. He bounced back immediately upon impact.
Seeing himself about to fall to the floor, Xu Wanxing was terrified, his face turning pale. He knew the bathroom pit was right behind him. If he fell, his head would land directly in the hole.
He’d rather die than that. Even if he hadn’t done anything in there, the pit was still where people relieved themselves, and there would still be some disgusting residue.
If his head fell in, setting aside the possibility of injury, fracture, or concussion, his head would definitely be unclean. It was too embarrassing and cruel.
Xu Wanxing quickly closed his eyes. He didn’t want to witness it.
He waited for a few seconds. The expected pain and disgust never came. Instead, he was pulled into a large embrace.
Beneath him was a warm, firm, elastic male body. He didn’t even need to think; Pei Yu had saved him.
Their bodies were pressed tightly together. Xu Wanxing could feel Pei Yu’s large hands gripping his waist tightly.
Xu Wanxing opened his eyes, looking at Pei Yu with a tearful gaze.
Pei Yu saw the intense gratitude on Xu Wanxing’s face and looked away uncomfortably. “Don’t mention it.”
Xu Wanxing shook his head. “No, I must thank you. You are my savior. The kindness you’ve shown in saving me is something I can never repay in this lifetime. I can only be a humble ox or horse in the next life to repay you.”
Pei Yu froze, his face instantly darkening. “Why isn’t it ‘This humble woman has no way to repay you but to offer herself in marriage’?”
“How do you know that saying?” Xu Wanxing said. “It has two versions. If the savior is handsome, you offer yourself in marriage. If the savior isn’t handsome, you become an ox or horse in the next life.”
Hearing the explanation, Pei Yu’s expression grew even worse.
“So you’re saying I’m not handsome?”
Xu Wanxing looked up, Pei Yu’s face now inches away.
Pei Yu had the standard “wolf-dog” look—tightly spaced features that looked fierce when expressionless, a high nose bridge, thin lips, and a clean, sharp jawline. He was a textbook handsome guy.
He was handsome, charming, and possessed sexual tension. Xu Wanxing had to admit that much.
But he didn’t like this type.
Seeing Pei Yu’s increasingly gloomy and fierce expression, Xu Wanxing swallowed. “Actually, you are very handsome. It’s just that I’m not worthy.”
Hearing this, Pei Yu instinctively hugged Xu Wanxing’s waist.
His heart jumped in alarm.
So thin!
Wait, what was he doing? He was flirting with his Omega roommate!
He was worse than a beast!
Wanxing had just added his contact again, yet here he was flirting with someone else.
He was a sinner.
Pei Yu quickly released Xu Wanxing. “I’m sorry, I overstepped.”
Xu Wanxing waved his hand. “It’s fine, my savior. Thank you for everything. You’re great, but I’m not worthy.”
The classic “scumbag” lines were being expertly deployed by Xu Wanxing.
Xu Wanxing returned to his seat. Pei Yu stood at the bathroom door, looking at the hand that had just hugged Xu Wanxing’s waist, his fingers unconsciously curling up a few times.
A moment later, Xu Wanxing received a message from Pei Yu.
“Pei Yu: Wanxing, I asked you before if you had a partner, and you said no. But I didn’t realize you were lying to me.”
Xu Wanxing: ?
When had he ever said he didn’t have a partner?
How did Pei Yu know he had a partner?
“Wanxing: How do you know I have a partner? Earlier, you asked me if that brother was my partner, and he wasn’t. Where did I lie?”
“Pei Yu: I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had a partner. I bothered you too much before. I apologize.”
Suddenly, Pei Yu remembered the breakup lines the little hooligan had taught him.
While the current situation wasn’t exactly a breakup, it was somewhat similar.
Xu Wanxing was considering how to reply to Pei Yu’s message when another one popped up.
“Pei Yu: Your humble servant retires, and this retreat is for a lifetime.”
“Pei Yu: Your humble servant has ten sins…”
Xu Wanxing’s face was horrified. Why had Pei Yu become so strange? He was sending messages straight out of an elementary school script.
Pei Yu emerged from the bathroom, his brows furrowed with melancholy.
System: [Host, go comfort him and raise the plot progress bar.]
Xu Wanxing: Holy crap, the broken System popped up out of nowhere and scared me to death.
And now it was telling him to go comfort Pei Yu. It was ridiculous… never mind. He should comfort Pei Yu. Pei Yu had just saved him from disaster.
Walking up to Pei Yu, Xu Wanxing patted his shoulder. “You look like you’re in a bad mood. Let’s go for a walk.”
Pei Yu glanced at him in surprise, his eyes slightly evasive. After a pause, Pei Yu said, “Okay.”
The two went downstairs and walked along the path by the school lake.
Imperial Capital University truly deserved to be a top university in the country. The lake was big and round. Even at night, the scenery was lovely. The path along the lake was lined with warm yellow ground lights.
Willow trees lined both sides of the path, swaying gently. The breeze caressed their cheeks, creating a somewhat secretive atmosphere.
Pei Yu felt like his chest was about to explode. He had a belly full of things he wanted to say and pour out.
“I told you before that I liked an Omega.”
Xu Wanxing: “Oh, was it the one who sent a bunch of gifts?”
“Yes, but he has a partner now. I ended up looking like a fool.”
Xu Wanxing, the orchestrator of the foolishness, cleared his throat twice. “It’s alright. There are plenty of fish in the sea; no need to pine for a single flower.”
Pei Yu was silent for a moment before speaking. “Actually, I used to like you too.”
Xu Wanxing: ?!!
What was that? Pei Yu not only liked his real self but also his online persona? Was he a Pei Yu attractor?
Pei Yu naturally saw Xu Wanxing’s surprised expression and smiled. “Don’t worry. I know you have a partner too, and I don’t like you anymore.”
Xu Wanxing finally let out a sigh of relief.
Pei Yu sighed. “To be honest, I just found out today that my best friend stole the Omega I liked.”
