- Over The Top! He Keeps Making the Gold-Digging Alpha Cry
- Chapter 121 - The Indescribable Scene
Realizing he was thinking about something he shouldn’t, Shen Yuxian’s expression changed dramatically. He quickly stuffed his hands into his pockets, his gaze dark as he walked away.
Inside the room, Xu Wanxing truly couldn’t resist the hunger in his stomach. Fearing the sound of his stomach growling would wake Lu Yanbai, he gently moved Lu Yanbai from his embrace onto the bed.
After finally settling everything, Xu Wanxing tiptoed out of bed, opened the door, and walked out.
Lu Yanbai maintained the posture Xu Wanxing had arranged, but his eyes had opened at some point.
There was no trace of sleepiness in his eyes; he was fully alert, staring intently towards the door.
He looked blankly at Xu Wanxing’s retreating figure.
Xu Wanxing was too obedient to Shen Yuxian’s words.
An employer-employee relationship?
Of course, that wasn’t the case between him and Xu Wanxing.
Only Shen Yuxian was capable of such a sordid act as hiring someone to be close to him.
Lu Yanbai had thought he had already tamed Xu Wanxing into his house cat.
Little did he know that this house cat wasn’t his cat; it belonged to someone else.
Then what did all his efforts count for?
As the door was gently closed, all the light was shut outside. The room was pitch black, with only the bright silver moonlight outside shining in.
Just like Lu Yanbai’s mood.
Or perhaps, he could finally close his eyes and sleep now, because without the warmth, he was more accustomed to this way of falling asleep.
However, the way he usually fell asleep easily was now incredibly difficult.
Something had changed after all…
Without realizing it, he felt like a different person. Every inch of his flesh, skin, muscles, and bones was screaming for plunder.
Yet, he was very good at restraining himself, but even the most solid fortress has a day when it collapses.
He hoped he and Xu Wanxing would not reach that point.
At that time, things would truly be irreversible.
Xu Wanxing walked through the corridor to the lobby and asked a staff member for directions to the restaurant.
Entering the restaurant, Shen Yuxian was not inside; only Lin Yao was eating a table full of food.
Extravagant but lonely.
Seeing Xu Wanxing, Lin Yao waved, “Come and sit,” patting the spot next to him.
Xu Wanxing sat beside Lin Yao. A waiter set the tableware.
As the first bite of food reached his stomach, Xu Wanxing was moved to tears.
That’s how it is when you’re famished.
Lin Yao had mostly finished eating and watched Xu Wanxing, resting his chin on his hand.
Thinking of something, a meaningful smile appeared on his face. He spoke: “This morning when we arrived, you fell into the snow. Shen Yuxian dug you out. I just saw his hands; they’re red and swollen, with several open cuts.”
Xu Wanxing’s eating slowed for a moment, his face showing guilt. “I didn’t notice.”
He had thought Lu Yanbai’s hands were worse, red and purple, and had carefully applied the ointment he got from the doctor in the room.
He didn’t expect Shen Yuxian’s hands to be broken too.
It was definitely his responsibility.
He hadn’t even noticed this. Xu Wanxing couldn’t imagine what his impression in Shen Yuxian’s mind would be like now.
Probably quite deplorable.
Xu Wanxing shoveled a few more mouthfuls of rice, barely filling his stomach. He said goodbye to Lin Yao and returned to the room.
Lin Yao looked at the empty restaurant. The fervor and openness were gone from his fox-like eyes. After a long pause, he got up and walked out.
Why did he have to open his mouth?
Seeing Xu Wanxing’s emotions stirred for someone else made him exceptionally unhappy.
He couldn’t distinguish anymore whether this was his hostility towards Shen Yuxian or if he had already fallen.
Xu Wanxing returned to the room, took out the ointment from the bedside, and prepared to go back out.
“Baby, where are you going?”
Lu Yanbai’s voice suddenly came from the bed.
Xu Wanxing hadn’t turned on the light, so the room was still pitch black. Lu Yanbai’s voice was completely devoid of its previous weakness; instead, it held a chilling, murderous intent.
Xu Wanxing rubbed his arm, feeling the air suddenly turn cold.
“To find President Shen.” Xu Wanxing walked to the bedside, tidied the blanket for Lu Yanbai, covering him properly, and gently touched Lu Yanbai’s face twice.
“Hubby, you rest well. I’ll go now.”
Lu Yanbai, in the warm quilt, only felt cold all over, as if a cold, stiff corpse was lying there, feeling no warmth at all.
Xu Wanxing left. After his figure disappeared, Lu Yanbai struggled on the bed, messing up the blanket Xu Wanxing had tidied.
He propped himself up with his hand and moved his leg. The bone-piercing pain traveled from his calf to his brain, spreading throughout his body.
His heart palpitated violently.
Lu Yanbai’s gaze was dark. He looked at his leg and cursed under his breath: “Truly useless.”
At this crucial moment, his leg was actually unusable.
Xu Wanxing had been so direct in front of him, completely disregarding him, the official boyfriend.
His suspicion was correct after all. Xu Wanxing liked Shen Yuxian.
He had always thought he could fix this “flaw” in Xu Wanxing.
But love is always unreasonable.
Lu Yanbai held his leg and slowly, bit by bit, moved towards the edge of the bed. He thought, It only hurts like this in bed. It should be fine when I stand on the ground.
Relying on astonishing willpower, Lu Yanbai placed his injured leg on the floor. As soon as he stood up, his body was unstable, and he immediately fell down.
“Clang—”
A huge sound echoed through the empty room.
The sound of a heavy object hitting the floor traveled through the highly soundproofed wall. Lin Yao next door heard it and quickly got up, pressing his ear against the wall.
His head was already dull and aching from the cold. Lin Yao’s forehead was pressed against the cold wall, and indescribable scenes kept flashing in his mind.
His fists gradually clenched, and a voice squeezed out from between his tightly gritted teeth.
“Lu Yanbai, you’re so active even with a broken leg. Be careful your leg doesn’t become necrotic and requires amputation.”
Xu Wanxing was completely unaware of these things. He was already standing at Shen Yuxian’s room door. Shen Yuxian’s room was far from theirs, separated by a corner.
Standing outside the door, Xu Wanxing could already feel that Shen Yuxian’s room was not good. The air inside was damp and cold. It would probably be very uncomfortable for someone to sleep in this environment.
A more sensitive person might even develop small red rashes on their skin.
Xu Wanxing knocked twice. The door opened a moment later, and Shen Yuxian’s tall figure blocked the doorway.
With his back to the light, Xu Wanxing couldn’t see his face clearly, only feeling that Shen Yuxian gave off an intense sense of oppression.
Shen Yuxian’s eyebrows lifted slightly, his voice conveying doubt: “Xu Wanxing? What are you doing here?”
The hand leaning on the door moved unnaturally. He felt a very subtle sensation in his heart.
With Lin Yao’s tip-off, Xu Wanxing immediately noticed Shen Yuxian’s hand, staring intently at it.
It was exactly as Lin Yao had said. No, it was even worse than Lin Yao had described.
He knew Shen Yuxian’s hands had large knuckles and long fingers, but the hands in front of him were completely different from his memory.
Shen Yuxian’s hands were very red and swollen, with several cracked areas.
Xu Wanxing saw several open cuts on the finger joints alone, and he dared not imagine the palm of his hand.
Two or three cuts on the back of his hand were also red, swollen, and black, looking as if they were turning necrotic—an extremely chilling sight.
