- Chapter 20 - Blocked at the Door by Debt Collectors
“Hello, is this 110? I’d like to report a missing person.”
“It happened around 5:30 PM the night before last, on the road from Chennan Elementary School to Qiushui Lane in the East District.”
“I am her older brother. I can confirm she is missing, as she hasn’t returned home for two nights.”
“Why did I only notice now?” Yun Su paused for two seconds. “I was in the hospital; I just got home today.”
“Yes, thank you for your trouble, officer.”
Hanging up, Yun Su exhaled a long breath and grabbed his phone to leave. However, the moment he opened the door, Yun Su froze.
Standing outside were seven or eight burly men covered in tattoos, holding baseball bats and leaning against the wall by his door, smoking. Hearing the door open, their gazes snapped toward him, eyes filled with malice.
One of them spat out his cigarette and walked toward Yun Su. The others immediately stopped what they were doing and followed, staring at Yun Su with blatant cruelty.
“Yo! So you finally decided to show yourself? I thought you were planning to starve to death in there though that would have saved us the trouble of doing it ourselves.”
Once the man finished speaking, the others immediately blocked off every exit path.
“Young Master Lu, you haven’t forgotten that you still owe us over a million, have you? You might be a VIP with a short memory, but we haven’t forgotten!”
The man in the lead was named Zhao Er, the head of the thugs for the loan shark Yun Su’s predecessor had borrowed money from. Yun Su felt a pang of dread; he had completely forgotten about this.
“Young Master Lu, pay up.” Zhao Er tapped his baseball bat against his other hand, making it clear that if Yun Su dared to utter a single word of refusal, the bat would immediately strike his head.
Yun Su: “…”
Over a million? Where on earth am I supposed to get that kind of money? It seemed he had no choice but to beat these men up.
Yun Su slid his phone into his pants pocket, raised his head, and smiled at Zhao Er. “Zhao Er, is it? Look, can you give me two days? I’ll pay back two million, principal and interest, how’s that?”
Zhao Er spat a glob of phlegm on the floor with a fierce expression. “That’s not good enough.”
“If you can’t pay the money, leave your life behind.”
With a wave of his hand, the seven thugs behind Zhao Er rushed toward Yun Su. Yun Su’s smile vanished instantly. He instinctively reached to push up his glasses, only to remember they had shattered back at the An residence.
Seeing that Yun Su stood there motionless, not even dodging, they assumed he was paralyzed with fear and snickered to themselves. One of them began to mock him with filthy language: “Look at how fair and clean this kid is. Boss, don’t kill him too quickly; he used to be the little master of the Lu family. Playing with him should be fun, heh heh!”
“Damn, Wu Sangou, are you disgusting or what? Going for the backdoor?”
“That’s because you don’t know the pleasure of the backdoor. Once you try it, you’ll know it’s no worse than playing with a woman.”
“Piss off, you’re disgusting.”
Zhao Er just smiled. “Fine, do as you please then. Play with him however you like.”
“Thanks, Boss!” Wu Sangou giggled lewdly.
That laughter, however, only made Yun Su feel disgusted.
“Is this kid scared stupid? He won’t even dodge.”
Just as their baseball bats were about to land on Yun Su, and he still hadn’t moved, someone mocked him with a laugh. Only Zhao Er felt that something was off; that expression on the boy’s face didn’t look like fear at all.
However, before he could warn the others, Yun Su had already struck.
With a casual kick, the man at the front was instantly sent flying, crashing into the stairwell ten meters away. Everyone was stunned Yun Su looked to be only eighteen or nineteen and appeared perfectly clean-cut; where did he get such strength? They were all at least two hundred pounds, and yet, the boy had kicked a two-hundred-pound man away with a light strike. Was he even human?
Yun Su didn’t care what they were thinking. His movements were swift as lightning. He delivered a hand chop to one man’s arm, and with a crack, the arm bent at a gruesome angle.
“Ah…”
The man screamed, his grip on the bat loosening, and Yun Su caught it in mid-air. He spun around, slamming the bat into another man while dodging the attacks of the rest. His speed was incredible, and his strikes were merciless. In just a few seconds, the entire stairwell was filled with cries of agony.
By the time Zhao Er came to his senses, the only ones left standing were himself and Yun Su. Everyone else was on the ground, their limbs twisted at unnatural angles, wailing in pain the man called Wu Sangou was the worst off.
Oh no, I kicked a hard plate this time.
Cold sweat broke out on Zhao Er’s forehead. The moment Yun Su’s gaze fell on him, Zhao Er felt as if he were being stared at by the Grim Reaper. Without hesitation, Zhao Er dropped to his knees in front of Yun Su, trembling uncontrollably.
“Young Master Lu, it’s me, Zhao Er, who failed to recognize a true master. Forget the money, I just hope you’ll spare me and my brothers.”
Yun Su looked at Zhao Er, a flash of surprise in his eyes. He hadn’t expected that even in a situation like this, Zhao Er would beg for his brothers. That was over a million yuan; for a thug like Zhao Er, that was likely years of savings. To give it up just like that he was a man of loyalty.
“I told you I would pay the money, just not right now. Get lost!” Yun Su tossed the baseball bat aside.
“Thank you, Young Master Lu! Thank you, Young Master Lu!” Zhao Er scrambled up from the ground, realizing for the first time that his back was soaked through with cold sweat. “Go, hurry and go!”
“Wait.” Yun Su spoke up suddenly, his eyes cold as he stared at Zhao Er.
“Is there something else, Young Master Lu?” Zhao Er turned around, his smile nearly failing to hold. He, Zhao Er, had been working the streets of Canglan City for so long when had he ever been forced to endure such humiliation? But who told him he was inferior in skill!
“I told you to get lost, but I never said they could leave.”
Yun Su sneered. When he dealt with the people Chen Hong brought earlier, he had just arrived in this body and was exhausted after only a few moves, and later, the police arrived. Things were different now. Although Qiushui Lane was a residential area, it was mostly populated by elderly people and migrant workers in Canglan City. It was currently work hours, and the elderly were out for their strolls; there were barely any families left in the building. Since these people dared to attack him, they would naturally have to pay the price.
Yun Su turned his head. The security camera installed in the corner of the stairwell emitted a bang. In the next second, every camera in the hallway shattered into fragments, beyond any hope of repair.
