- Out of Control Overnight: The Irritable Top Alpha Goes Mad Searching for His Wife
- Chapter 32 - The Coquettish Top Alpha, Comforted by His Wife
Friendship is a thing of a thousand faces.
Shen Qing struggled to draw a clear line between them. At the root of it all was a guilty conscience; he was terrified of falling for him all over again.
However, Lu Shijun, who remained entirely oblivious, began pulling him along to study the proper way for friends to interact.
As everyone knows, friendships between men are different from friendships between women.
Male friendship usually involves trying to get the other to accept them as their son while claiming to be the father.
Female friendship is more delicate. Their terms of endearment even include intimate words like baby or wife. When they go out, they hold hands and even wear matching outfits.
The further Lu Shijun scrolled, the more he felt as if a door to a new world had opened. He automatically skipped over the section on male friendships and fixed his gaze solely on how girls interacted.
“Xiao Qing, you said we could not wear matching clothes, but they even wear wedding dresses together for photo shoots.”
“She even calls her friend baby!”
“I do not care. I want that too.”
The word baby caused Shen Qing to suddenly recall that chaotic night two months ago. Lu Shijun had held him just like this, calling him baby over and over again.
In a moment of panic, he abruptly pushed the person beside him away.
As a top Alpha, Lu Shijun could not be moved by Shen Qing’s meager strength, but his eyes darkened momentarily, and he deliberately allowed himself to fall.
As he went down, he purposely let the back of his head hit the floorboards.
A loud thud echoed.
Shen Qing was startled and rushed up from the sofa. “Lu Shijun, are you okay?”
Hearing Shen Qing call him by his full name instead of that cursed President Lu, a satisfied curve appeared at the corners of Lu Shijun’s lips.
However, the smile was fleeting. He suppressed his upturned lips and, with a face full of pain, forced himself to comfort the other. “It is fine. I am an Alpha, after all. It was just a small bump; it is no problem.”
Despite his words, he remained slumped on the ground, refusing to get up.
Shen Qing grew even more frantic. Lu Shijun was indeed powerful, an S-class Alpha who rarely fell ill and could even endure his heat periods through sheer willpower and suppressants. The only exception had been that one time with Shen Qing.
But no matter how powerful an Alpha is, they are still human.
Shen Qing’s eyes turned red with anxiety. He did not dare move him haphazardly for fear of causing secondary injuries. “No, I am taking you to the hospital. You hit the back of your head.”
The moment Lu Shijun heard the word hospital, he reacted as if triggered. “I am not going. I hate the hospital.”
Shen Qing asked, “Why?”
Lu Shijun threw a tantrum, his expression dark and gloomy. “Lin Zhixue made me hate hospitals. It is because of him that you want to draw a line with me.”
The saying that the crying child gets the candy applied perfectly to Lu Shijun.
Having a soft heart is a fatal flaw.
The wall Shen Qing had painstakingly built in his heart collapsed once again. He felt a sense of self-abandonment. “Then what will it take for you to go to the hospital?”
Lu Shijun tugged at his clothes. This time, he did not even dare hold his hand. He acted with such caution and grievance. “You said before that we are friends, best friends. But Xiao Qing, everything you have done is because you want to push me away.”
“Are you suddenly being so easy to talk to because you pushed me down, saw me fall, and felt guilty?”
“If that is the case, then forget it.”
He was full of disappointment, even letting go of the hand that held Shen Qing’s clothes. He was a sharp contrast to his usual extreme and possessive self.
He seemed to have suddenly become sensible, yet his sensibleness was heartbreaking.
Shen Qing could no longer withstand it. He threw caution to the wind and stopped caring about anything else.
“Yes, I do feel guilty because I pushed you down.”
A dangerous aura instantly surged in the depths of Lu Shijun’s eyes. He played dumb and acted miserable to make his friend’s heart soften; he did not want to hear the blunt truth.
Before he could climb up with a dark expression, Shen Qing suddenly sighed again. “But you are indeed the most important person to me. I do not want to see you hurt, and I do not want to see you unhappy.”
Lu Shijun’s eyes brightened slightly.
He had always been one to take an inch when given a mile.
For instance, right now, he suppressed the dangerous aura around him, and his entire being emitted a thick scent of green tea. “Then I want to do the things that those best friends do.”
Shen Qing said, “Can we not just learn the things men do?”
Lu Shijun replied, “No. Men and women are equal. ABO dynamics should be equal too.”
Equal my foot. In his heart, besides Shen Qing, no one was worthy of standing by his side.
The two were in a faint standoff, neither willing to yield. In the end, Shen Qing surrendered. “We cannot copy everything from the internet. You have to ask me first, and I have to agree before we do it.”
This was the greatest concession he could make.
Lu Shijun knew when to stop. “Alright.”
Shen Qing exhaled, thinking this farce was finally over. He helped the man up, but halfway through, Lu Shijun’s lips brushed against his ear as he whispered a single word.
“Baby.”
Shen Qing’s ears burned, and the redness spread until his entire face was flushed.
“Lu Shijun!” he shouted loudly.
Lu Shijun sat on the floor, looking at the dripping red of his earlobes and his blushing face. It was truly incredibly cute.
He suddenly thought of the female friendships he had seen earlier. They would hug each other for photos, press their faces together while making peace signs, and even pout their lips to pretend to kiss.
If he were asked to do this with anyone else, he would vomit instantly. But if it was with his best friend.
Lu Shijun’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He did not know what was happening to him; he could only follow his instincts.
“Xiao Qing, I want to take a photo with you.”
Shen Qing was confused. “Why take a photo all of a sudden?”
“Let us go to the hospital first.”
Lu Shijun refused to budge. With that handsome face of his, he simply sat on the floor and would not get up.
“Those things you just said were indeed lies. You said I was the most important, but now I just want you to take a photo with me, and you are actually unwilling.”
Seeing that things were about to return to the beginning, Shen Qing’s head truly ached.
Even kindergarten children were not this difficult to coax!
Lu Shijun slowly turned around, facing away from him. “Do not worry about me then. I just need to be alone. I will be alone.”
“Fine!” Shen Qing could not listen to any more of it. “We will take it! Should we use your phone or mine?”
As an adult, why choose?
Lu Shijun said, “Both, of course.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he immediately took out his phone and opened the camera.
Then, he turned back and patted the empty spot beside him. “Xiao Qing, come here quickly.”
Shen Qing sat beside him with a wooden face. Soon, he saw himself on the screen.
Unlike him, Lu Shijun was smiling more joyfully than ever.
“Xiao Qing, why are you not smiling?”
Shen Qing replied, “I am not a smiling person by nature.”
Lu Shijun did not believe him for a second!
His Qingqing looked cold and aloof, but in reality, he was fragrant and soft. His clear eyes were like they could speak; if he crinkled them just a little, they would be like the bright moon in the sky, unbelievably beautiful.
He stared at his friend on the screen and narrowed his eyes. Suddenly, he made a bold move.
