Our Summer Isn't Over Yet - Chapter 52
Walter’s expression was somehow familiar. It seemed like the face his father had made when he hurriedly handed him over to his mother’s arms and kissed his forehead before being summoned to King Murad. Maybe it was a delusion. Long ago memories were faded and faint.
‘What was Dad so surprised about back then?’
Mia, who cautiously took the handkerchief Walter offered, mumbled with half-open eyes.
“I have to go to the palace. To His Majesty.” She wasn’t sure if she was pronouncing it correctly because of the blood filling her mouth. Every time she opened her mouth, sticky blood flowed out. Walter’s face turned even paler than before.
“Nonsense. Do you even know what state you’re in right now!”
“The Fourth Prince knows where my parents are.”
“I’ll find out and tell you, so get treatment first.”
A lie, Mia repeated inwardly.
But Mia also knew. She wasn’t dressed to meet Morgan, and she didn’t know when she would lose consciousness and collapse in this body. To Mia, who was hesitating, Walter said strongly again.
“I’ll definitely tell you, so please, let’s go to the mansion.” He roughly stroked her disheveled hair.
It resembled the way her dad used to do it when she was young. Mia, who blinked slowly, unknowingly let out a faint smile. “…Okay. Let’s go.” Walter’s slightly trembling hands faintly smelled of flowers and grass.
The ominous, piercing ringing of the phone filled Dylan’s room.
It was a phone that didn’t ring except at certain times. It was clear that the call was about something bad. In an instant, Dylan brought the receiver to his ear.
Your Excellency, this is Aaron.
Aaron’s voice, which always maintained composure, was trembling.
“Get to the point.”
The Madam, she has been attacked. The Fourth Prince is in the capital, the Madam is doing relief work, so…
“Sir Aaron, can’t you speak properly?”
After apologizing, Aaron took a few breaths and began to explain the situation calmly.
It started with the reason why Walter couldn’t escort Mia. Additional security personnel were added, but there was interference along the way, and the guards headed to a different location than their destination.
As the story continued, the blood vessels in Dylan’s Adam’s apple tightened.
The Fourth Prince appeared at the place where the Madam was doing relief work. The incident occurred while the Madam was briefly separated from the noble ladies.
Hosea’s forces created a disturbance in a place opposite to where Mia was, causing casualties. While attention was focused there, Hosea met Mia privately.
Just before Hosea was about to escape with Mia in a pre-arranged vehicle, members of the royal family appeared and were able to capture Hosea.
“So, what’s the situation now.”The Fourth Prince directly harmed the Madam. Visually, there were signs of strangulation, assault near the cheeks, and a burst lip.
“Treatment?”
It’s as if Your Excellency brought the Madam straight to the mansion, so Mel is checking and reporting on her condition.
Aaron’s report kept slipping out of his ears.
Just the Fourth Prince, assault, Mia. These words swirled in Dylan’s head.
The Madam was conscious until she went into the room. I will report to Your Excellency and then go back to check again.
With cold eyes, Dylan stared into space. He looked like he was about to tear someone apart and kill them right away. With his hand that wasn’t holding the receiver, he grabbed the back of his neck. He repeatedly clenched and unclenched his hand so tightly that it ached, then asked about Hosea’s whereabouts.
“Where is the Fourth Prince now?”
He has been urgently arrested and transported to the royal palace.
“Sir Aaron.”
Yes.
“I will be departing from Rhodia in one hour. Please organize the situation by the hour until then.”
Before Aaron could even answer, he hung up the phone. Then he immediately connected to the royal palace.
He expected it might be difficult to get through because they would be busy with Hosea’s capture, but surprisingly, Morgan answered the phone right away.
“Greetings to His Majesty the King.”
Haven’t you heard the whole situation? Get to the point.
Dylan had many things he wanted to ask Morgan.
Why were the royal troops at the relief site Mia went to? Wasn’t the reason he was kept in Rhodia to use Mia to capture Hosea?
But that wasn’t the important thing right now. Dylan gritted his teeth once and recited the main point while hiding his emotions.
“I wish to return to the capital. Please permit it.”
Return, you say.
“The reason I remained in Rhodia was in case the Fourth Prince might be here. But now that he has been captured, and Mia was injured in the process.”
It’s unfortunate.
Morgan sighed.
Still, Duke March did a very good job.
Morgan’s reaction was unexpectedly relaxed. Dylan was the one who was burning inside.
A thought flashed through Dylan’s mind.
‘Does he know that this was not agreed upon with Mia?’
It was quite a chilling thought.
He explained the situation with Mia to Morgan as vaguely as possible. If he revealed the real reason he betrayed Mia, he couldn’t ignore the possibility that Morgan would use Mia.
Just as he was about to open his mouth to test something, Morgan’s cheerful permission fell.
You may return now. You’ve been through a lot, and your wife needs her husband by her side.
“…Thank you.”
You don’t have to come to the royal palace right away. Check on your wife’s condition and schedule a visit later.
The conversation with Morgan ended. He heard the disconnected tone, but Dylan couldn’t take the receiver away from his ear.
Only as he slowly lowered his stiff arm did he realize that his hand was trembling.
He cursed lowly and frowned.
He put a cigar from the desk in his mouth. He didn’t light it, but just having it in his mouth made him feel somewhat calmer. He took a long breath and swept back his hair.
After packing a few simple belongings, Dylan left the residence without hesitation.
It hadn’t even been an hour since Mia Blair was attacked by Hosea Yan Murad.
Mia didn’t hate her uncle, Reggie Blair, from the start. She even liked him until she was five, before the shocking thing he did. “Mia, it’s been a while.” Reggie, who had come to find Mia sitting in the flower garden, greeted her, waving away the people around her. Mia’s eyes sparkled at the sight of her welcome uncle.
“Uncle?” His dark eyes stared directly at Mia.
As a small breeze blew, Reggie’s dark brown hair fluttered messily. Reggie ran a hand through his hair, looking annoyed, and asked Mia, “Where’s your father?”
“Uung, he’ll be here soon!”
“Here?”
“He promised to play with Mia in the hill garden today.”
Mia said excitedly, tapping the flowers. Reggie’s face contorted into a frown. “Tsk. For the head of the family to be concerned about such things. He’d be much better off paying attention to the new weapon development project.”
“Such things! Uncle, that’s a bad thing to say.” Reggie didn’t react much to Mia’s criticism.
When he didn’t say anything, Mia refocused on the little ladybug. Just as she was exclaiming “Wow” and her eyes were sparkling, Reggie’s foot came down on the ladybug with a thud.
Startled, Mia froze like an iceberg. Fortunately, the ladybug scurried out from under his shoe and disappeared into the bushes. Mia, relieved, stroked her chest and started playing with the dirt with her small fingers again. “Mia, the position of head of the family comes with great responsibility.”
“Uung, difficult words.”
“He’s busy enough taking care of the family, how could he have time to play?” Mia, who hadn’t been paying attention to Reggie’s words, perked up at the words “time to play.”
Mia, her eyes wide, tilted her head up and proudly told Reggie what her father had told her.
“But, Daddy said he needs rest time too!”
“Rest?”
“My daddy says I’m his treasure in the world, and he’s just happy when he’s with me.”
“……Is that so?”
“Yeah! And Mia’s birthday is coming up soon!”
Mia dusted off her small, chubby hands and jumped up from her spot.
Her neatly tied pigtails landed softly on her shoulders.
The hairstyle, which she had begged her mother to do since morning, was still firm and pretty.
Remembering that her birthday was coming up soon, Mia spun around in place and burst into laughter.
Reggie muttered with a cold look, “……A treasure, huh.
Then everyone would go crazy if you disappeared.”
