Older Brother - Chapter 26
39.
Traveling from the Central Star of the First Galaxy to the Central Star of the Fifth Galaxy requires a total of five long-distance warp jumps.
Most soldiers dislike being assigned to routine patrol missions, especially in remote galaxies, because they are exceptionally boring.
To maintain secrecy, only the commander and the adjutant within the entire fleet have the authority to communicate with the outside world. Everyone else is left to stare blankly at the cold, silent deep space, the familiar and tiresome distant stars, and the massive, magnificent nebulae.
Furthermore, even with specialized training, long-distance jumps remain unpleasant. To maintain their condition, those without active duties typically enter specialized pods during each jump to minimize the physical impact.
In the past, Fu Yu didn’t particularly care for patrol missions either.
However, that negative impression began to change with this trip.
As the third long-distance jump concluded, he leaned down to kiss the side of the Omega’s neck a neck slick with sweat and saturated with the fragrance of cold orchids. His narrow, desire-filled eyes half-squinted. “Shall we continue?”
Bai You disliked rooms that were too bright, so only a small lamp was lit. Their intertwined pheromones hung in the air like a morning mist. The dim light spilled over his snow-white shoulders and back, tracing a graceful, slender line that made him appear all the more serene and beautiful.
He looked like an orchid flower that had been crushed between fingertips, its juices seeping out.
Fu Yu’s hand moved toward his face, intending to press a kiss to his lips, but the half-languid Bai You tilted his head to the side. He raised a hand to block Fu Yu’s mouth, rejecting the kiss with an expression that was both decadent and cold. “The condoms are all used up.”
He sounded like a heartless Omega who discards a person the moment they’ve served their purpose.
Fu Yu raised an eyebrow, his hand resting on Bai You’s flat stomach, pressing down with ambiguous intent. “Are you really that afraid of getting pregnant?”
Bai You remained silent. Fu Yu didn’t know, but Bai You was well aware of his own physical condition. Having used disguise agents for over ten years, the damage was extensive. Compared to a typical Omega, his chances of conceiving when not in heat were low enough to be ignored. Only during his heat, if an Alpha marked him by entering the reproductive chamber, would pregnancy be a certainty.
Currently, he simply didn’t want to do it with Fu Yu anymore.
He had underestimated the beastly nature of an Alpha. Deep down, Alphas harbor a terrifying, insatiable greed for Omegas. He had originally thought that since they had already done it so many times, it didn’t matter—he might as well give Fu Yu a little sweetness to lower his guard.
Who could have known the Alpha would gnaw him down to the bone and still not be satisfied? It was as if the man wouldn’t stop until he had swallowed him whole.
Meeting his cold gaze, Fu Yu ignored his resistance and carried him toward the bathroom. He gripped the ankle that looked exceptionally slender and white against the black ring, stroking it. His eyes held a thick, dark possessiveness that he hadn’t even noticed himself. “Be good, Brother. just one last time.”
After the five jumps were completed, the patrol fleet arrived at its destination.
Following the coordinates, Bai You was escorted by bodyguards to his grandmother’s home planet. Fu Yu still had duties to attend to and bid him farewell with a smile. “Brother, I’ll come pick you up in two days.”
He paused, his smile remaining unchanged, though a layer of warning coldness flickered in his eyes. He cast a seemingly casual glance at the tracker partially visible under Bai You’s left foot. His tone was gentlemanly and gentle. “Behave yourself.”
Bai You understood the underlying meaning. He pursed his lips and turned to walk away.
The level of civilization in the Fifth Galaxy was worlds apart from the First Galaxy; it didn’t even have a planetary temperature control system. After a brief evaluation, Bai You gave up on the idea of finding an opportunity to cut off his ankle here. Clearly, the local technology was insufficient to reattach his foot in its original state after the amputation.
It wasn’t worth the risk.
When the craft descended through the atmosphere, the planet was in the grip of a snowy winter. From above, the snowy fields were a vast, boundless white.
Because the elites of Central Star generally disliked winter, it rarely snowed there.
Bai You disliked the artificial 22°C year-round climate of Central Star. Seeing the snow, he allowed himself a rare smile. He pulled up the coordinates his mother had mentioned years ago and headed toward his grandmother’s former residence.
There weren’t many inhabitants on this planet, most being concentrated in one or two large cities. His grandmother’s house was not in the city. Since there were no maintenance droids, Bai You was prepared for everything to be in shambles. However, when the craft landed, he found the small house—which hadn’t seen a visitor in years was well-maintained, its exterior clean and intact.
Stepping inside, the house was spotless. The old belongings hadn’t been moved at all; it looked exactly like the photos his mother had left behind.
Bai You froze for a moment, instantly realizing who was responsible.
From a position of absolute logic, for Fu Yu, doing all this was merely a matter of a casual order.
But humans are not purely logical creatures.
Bai You lowered his eyes. He took out a photo of his mother from her youth and gently placed it in the center of the room, side-by-side with a framed photo of his grandmother that someone had specifically sought out for him. He allowed her to reunite with her beloved mother in the place where she felt most free and warm during her youth.
“Mama.”
This day was not only the anniversary of her death but also her birthday.
Bai You knelt down, gently stroking the photo with his thumb. He carefully laid out his mother’s unfinished design sketches alongside the jewelry he had finally polished and finished. Meeting the eyes of the person in the photo, he offered a faint smile, his voice soft and tender.
“Happy birthday.”
It’s a bit late, but now that you’ve finally arrived here, has your soul found its long-lost freedom?
40.
The little house had no heating system. Bai You loved watching the snow, but he was also quite sensitive to the cold. Moving around in heavy winter gear was cumbersome. Fortunately, the house had a fireplace. The Beta bodyguards had somehow managed to find a pile of dry firewood and spent every day diligently keeping the fire crackling.
Before Fu Yu reappeared, Bai You had already settled comfortably into his grandmother’s cottage.
With the fireplace burning warmly, he reclined in a lounge chair, leisurely reading a book while watching the heavy snow outside.
Life without an Alpha was truly wonderful.
Unfortunately, a tactless Alpha was bound to show up sooner or later.
After Bai You had enjoyed his vacation for half a month, he was suddenly hit by a “sleep paralysis” encounter in the middle of the night. His hands were pinned above his head, and he was pressed down firmly. He was kissed until his hair stood on end and his head spun. Before he could get angry enough to kick the man, he was dug out of his warm blankets by the Alpha. Fu Yu leaned down to kiss the crown of his head with a smile. “Darling, let’s change vacation spots.”
Without giving Bai You a chance to object, he was packed up and carried onto a craft, leaving behind the freezing planet shrouded in snow.
Half a day later, the starship landed on another planet.
It was unclear if this planet’s climate was artificially regulated, but half of it was covered in snowy fields. Due to volcanic activity, it also boasted countless hot spring pools of various sizes. The other half consisted of maritime islands, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely vacation.
“What do you think?” The young Alpha couldn’t help but show a bit of smugness as he tried to curry favor.
Bai You was expressionless. “Not much. Has the Colonel finished all his patrol duties? Using military funds to eat, drink, and vacation on a planet like this… you’ll have to face the FBI when you get back.”
Didn’t those subordinates say Bai You likes watching snow but fears the cold?
Maintaining his smile, Fu Yu cast a silent, icy glare at the Beta bodyguards standing behind him in hushed terror.
The corners of Bai You’s lips curled into a mocking arc. “Or are you trying to suck up to me?”
Fu Yu was silent for a moment. He put an arm around Bai You to lead him forward, his smile unyielding. “What are you thinking, Brother? I’m here to meet a few people; I just needed a partner to accompany me.”
Meeting Bai You’s gaze, he shrugged. He produced a black collar from somewhere and skillfully fastened it around Bai You’s neck, explaining leisurely, “That group loves being accompanied by Omegas.”
Alphas and Omegas are both extreme minorities in society, with Omegas being the minority within the minority.
Possessing a beautiful and precious high-level Omega was, for those people, like owning an expensive and beautiful rare treasure—something very much worth flaunting.
Bai You was a rare, high-level orchid-scented Omega, which was exactly why his mother had been so despondent when he presented as one.
Seeing that Bai You’s face remained devoid of emotion, Fu Yu blinked. A sudden impulse struck him; he took Bai You’s hand and rubbed his fingers, whispering with a smile, “I never touch those Omegas. I haven’t even moved a finger.”
Bai You’s lips twitched. “Oh, then you truly have great Alpha virtues.”
It feels like I’m being mocked.
While Fu Yu wasn’t paying attention, Bai You secretly checked the planet’s coordinates on his terminal, only to find that the device was under a signal block and could not acquire cosmic coordinates.
However, based on the number of warp jumps it took to get here, it shouldn’t be far from the Fifth Galaxy; it was likely in a remote region.
The people Fu Yu was meeting were on a massive cruise ship. Everyone was wearing masks, seemingly to hide their identities. A group of people with unidentified backgrounds gathering in a remote galaxy was clearly the territory of something like Central Star’s underground black market only this was more high-end, with a much higher barrier to entry.
Unsure of Fu Yu’s intentions in bringing him here, Bai You could only accept the mask Fu Yu handed him. He was forced to walk arm-in-arm with Fu Yu as they boarded the ship.
Once on board, Bai You realized this place was far more chaotic than the underground black market. He even saw naked slaves a practice long since abolished—being led around on leashes like dogs.
Fu Yu seemed to have visited many times using different identities. A waiter saw him and immediately bowed, inviting him to follow.
“Where exactly is this place?” Bai You lowered his voice. “What are you doing here?”
Fu Yu blinked with a smile. “What if I’m here to do something illegal?”
Bai You paused for a few seconds. “According to Article 325 of the Federal Criminal Code, you would face at least five years in prison. If a federal public official commits a crime, the sentence is doubled.”
Fu Yu slowly raised an eyebrow. “Brother, you wouldn’t actually report me, would you?”
Bai You smiled. “Who knows.”
As they spoke, they were escorted by the waiter into a top-floor cabin.
Once they were seated, Bai You realized an auction seemed to be taking place. There were already several people in the private box Fu Yu had been invited into. However, the Omegas kneeling or sitting in their laps were not wearing protective collars like he was; instead, they were freely releasing alluring pheromones.
In the box, they were like beautiful, human-shaped incense burners.
The Alpha sitting at the very top was dressed in a proper black suit. Hearing them enter, he looked over and immediately let out an exaggerated laugh. “Mr. L actually brought a partner this time. Finally, we won’t have to painstakingly pick one out for you.”
Wearing a mask, Fu Yu curled his lip. “Well, you’ve always been so curious about my partner.”
Perhaps because he never usually brought a partner but had this time, everyone was curious. All eyes in the box fell upon Bai You.
His frame wasn’t as delicate as a typical Omega’s. From the lower half of his face visible beneath the mask, one could see an air of icy serenity. His physique was tall and well-proportioned. The shirt he wore was a bit too long for him, with the hem tucked into his waistband to reveal a beautiful, supple waistline.
Around his slender neck was a black collar, fitting tightly against his Adam’s apple. Though it lacked fancy decorations, it made his skin look even paler and more striking, exuding a sense of decadent, cold desire that seemed at odds with his usual temperament.
At some point, the prying gazes began to fill with greed.
Someone approached, staring intently at Bai You. “Truly a rare and beautiful Omega… I’d be willing to trade ten energy planets for one night with him. What does Mr. L think?”
Bai You’s mind went blank for an instant. His muscles tensed silently, and his stress response caused his teeth to chatter uncontrollably.
The hand around his shoulder suddenly tightened. Fu Yu’s eyes were already filled with murderous intent. He pulled Bai You firmly into his embrace, leaning down to kiss his ear gently as he whispered, “Don’t be afraid.”
Then, without warning, he pulled the gun from behind his waist. In an instant, he flipped the safety and pressed the cold muzzle against the other man’s throat, asking back with a smile: “What do you think?”
