Older Brother - Chapter 25
38.
Fu Yu carried him onto the warship with brazen disregard for appearances. The surrounding soldiers acted as if they were blind, each pretending to be incredibly busy, yet stealing glances in the gaps of their work and exchanging gossipy looks.
A cold sweep of Fu Yu’s gaze turned them all into quailing quails, not daring to look further.
No one understands the nature of an Alpha better than another Alpha; none of them like seeing their Omega being ogled by others.
The veins at Bai You’s temples throbbed. He took a deep breath and said coldly, “Mixing private affairs with official business. you’d better pray the Federal Bureau of Investigation doesn’t come knocking on your door.”
Fu Yu didn’t seem to care. Instead, he leaned down close, intimately brushing his nose against Bai You’s. He asked with a smile, “Are you going to report me, Brother?”
Bai You met his gaze for a moment, then looked away in silence.
Based on the speed of a civilian starship, they wouldn’t make it to the Fifth Galaxy on time. Only a military vessel, carrying the Federation’s top engineering, could withstand multiple consecutive warp jumps to reach his grandmother’s home before the anniversary of his mother’s death.
Thus, Fu Yu was confident. Knowing his brother, he knew Bai You wouldn’t report him.
Bai You cherished those he defined as “family” people like his grandmother, his mother, and the elderly woman who had protected him during his time in the Bai household.
He appeared cold on the surface, but he was actually incredibly soft-hearted—otherwise, he wouldn’t have spared Fu Yu twice already.
He’s so soft on me. he even protected me in front of Tang Xu.
An inexplicable sense of pleasure welled up in Fu Yu’s heart.
His dear brother didn’t seem to hate him quite that much.
He knew it. How could absolute compatibility only affect him? Omegas are influenced even more by pheromones—just like Madam Singh, who was unknowingly drowning in the trap of her husband’s scent, loving him with all her heart and soul…
Love.
His heart suddenly felt as though a light feather had brushed against it. Fu Yu couldn’t help but wonder: did Bai You love him?
Forced to lie in Fu Yu’s arms, Bai You had no idea what was going through the Alpha’s head. He knew the civilian ships were too slow, which inevitably reminded him that civilian tickets from Central Star to the Fifth Galaxy were not cheap. This, in turn, reminded him that he had spent ten times the usual price nearly emptying his savings to have the black market rush his fake documents.
In the end, he had lost both the money and the escape.
Old Congressman Bai’s desire for control over his children was absolute; he wanted everyone to live before him without a single secret. The reason the old butler had turned on him was years of such torment. Bai You’s private savings were the result of years of meticulous hoarding after he left Central Star.
And now, it was all gone.
Bai You’s expression vanished instantly.
When Fu Yu snapped out of his chaotic thoughts, he found Bai You staring at him with a gaze that grew colder by the second. He looked like he wanted to grab a vase and crack his head open, too.
…What happened now?
He paused in confusion, unsure why the Omega was unhappy again. He quickly tucked away his strange thoughts, assuming Bai You was worried about something else. “Are you worried about other things, Brother? Don’t worry, everything has been moved on board.”
In the middle of the night, Fu Yu had sent men to exhume Bai You’s mother’s grave for relocation. Since there were few members of the Bai family left, no one would dare say a word even if he dug up the entire ancestral plot.
Bai You truly didn’t know whether to call this “considerate” or “beastly.” Fu Yu’s actions were indeed efficient and thorough, yet not a single part of them made him feel respected.
Then again, how could an Alpha ever respect an Omega?
When discussing Speaker Singh and his wife, Fu Yu’s tone had been casual and intrigued. Only Bai You, as a fellow Omega, felt the heart-stopping horror and cruelty of it.
Lately, Fu Yu had treated him with a sort of leisurely tolerance—a high-altitude gaze looking down. To him, the Omega was a captive prey; he wasn’t worried about being bitten back by someone so fragile.
All of the Alpha’s kindness and tolerance was built on the premise that he stayed within his designated boundaries and stopped trying to run. And Bai You indeed hadn’t tried to run lately.
But how was any of this different from what Speaker Singh was doing?
They were birds of a feather. Years ago, witnessing his mother’s fate, he had learned clearly: Alphas are all bastards.
During the last heat, Fu Yu hadn’t made him pregnant for reasons unknown. But what about the next one?
He had to lower Fu Yu’s guard and seize this chance to escape.
His face slightly pale, Bai You pushed Fu Yu away and stepped onto the floor barefoot. He ducked into the cabin marked “Colonel” and slammed the door shut.
Fu Yu nearly got hit in the nose again. He shrugged, pressed the biological lock to enter, and drawled, “Brother…”
The Colonel’s cabin was exceptionally comfortable, practically a carbon copy of Fu Yu’s room. Bai You was standing before the wardrobe in a state of undress, picking out something to wear. His pajamas had fallen halfway down, revealing one side of his graceful, snow-white shoulders and back. He glanced back at the sound, his eyes icy.
Fu Yu’s throat tightened. To his regret, he realized he had an immediate reaction.
Absolute compatibility was a lock either Bai You locked him down, or he locked Bai You down.
If a political enemy ever discovered this compatibility and used Bai You against him, he would be forced to submit.
Fu Yu wordlessly licked his canine tooth. A sudden surge of irritation rose in him. He had been watched and controlled by Congressman Bai for over a decade and loathed the feeling of being held captive. Since gaining power, he had always been the one to strike first.
Moreover, this was that man’s son.
He had always looked down on low-grade Alphas who lost their minds just because an Omega crooked a finger. He couldn’t possibly be bewitched by this Omega.
He was the one doing the playing.
Carrying a nameless malice, Fu Yu leaned in behind Bai You, ignoring his struggle and muffled curses. He wrapped an arm around his waist, pulled a shirt from the wardrobe, and said with a smile, “You looked beautiful in my shirt last time, Brother.”
That day, he had been busy reporting to headquarters, and by the time he returned at night, Bai You had changed back into his pajamas. Fu Yu had found it a great pity.
Bai You looked around in silence and realized the wardrobe was full of Fu Yu’s clothes—not a single item of his own was there. The Alpha’s wicked intentions were glaringly obvious.
He let out a cold snort but didn’t argue. Accepting his fate of wearing the Alpha’s clothes, he lowered his head to unbutton his pajamas and calmly took them off, feeling the person behind him begin to breathe heavily and hotly.
“Long-distance warp jumps can cause discomfort for those without special training—insomnia, headaches, ringing in the ears, and persistent muscle aches,” Fu Yu’s voice was low and raspy. “However, a little exercise can alleviate the symptoms.”
“The first long-distance jump is about to start.”
The Alpha’s hand rested on his slender waist, slowly stroking the beautiful line of his body. His voice was thick with amusement. “Do you want to?”
The warp jump notification echoed through the ship right on cue. Fu Yu’s description had been objective; the moment the jump initiated, the headache, ringing ears, and muscle aches began their relentless assault.
After a moment, Bai You turned his head toward the Alpha. His long lashes lifted, and his moist, red lips parted. Reflected in Fu Yu’s pupils, he looked like a siren from a fairy tale.
“Do you have a condom?”
