Obsessive Love, The Possessive Real Young Lady - Chapter 54
The phone rang a few times before it was picked up.
“Well, look who it is. I didn’t expect you to call me,” Shen Shihao said. “What do you want?”
The Shen Shihao on the other end was clearly messing around in a bar. The noisy sound passed through the earpiece, making Su Sui’s ear hurt, so she decisively hung up amidst the clamor of a drinking game.
For some reason, she truly could not bring herself to ask that prodigal son, Shen Shihao, for help.
She would have to think of another way.
Su Sui turned off her phone screen and sat in the car, carefully calculating the bargaining chips she had on hand.
After much deliberation, the only thing that could possibly move Shen Shihao was the 25% non-voting shares in the Shen Group.
However, those shares were the key to her taking down the entire Shen Group empire; they absolutely could not be used at this time.
Moreover, sometimes money isn’t everything. Especially for Shen Shihao, who cared more about reputation for instance, removing the word “Acting” from his title of Acting Chairman.
Su Sui frowned in deep thought, her gaze sweeping past the window.
The neon lights of the street flickered, and the bustling, prosperous night view was like a giant net, trapping Su Sui within it. The more she struggled, the deeper she sank…
Suddenly, Su Sui noticed a newspaper by the roadside. She opened the car door, picked it up from the ground, and stared at it intently. It was a news item about a popular young star who had recently become involved in charity work to whitewash his image after a tax evasion scandal.
The protagonist of the newspaper was a young male star around twenty years old, dressed simply and plainly, with a kind smile, but his photo was somewhat blurry; if one didn’t look closely, one couldn’t discern his appearance.
Su Sui’s expression shifted slightly, and an idea immediately formed in her mind.
Charity it was something beneficial for the country and the people. She thought that surely, even if Shen Shihao was reluctant, he wouldn’t be able to refuse such an endeavor, right?
The next day, Su Sui transferred Gao Wei to a regular ward and anonymously contacted the media to conduct a follow-up report on all the leukemia patients who were desperately waiting for bone marrow transplants.
Due to Gao Wei’s status as an orphan, she immediately stood out among the many patients.
While Gao Wei was surrounded by reporters and compassionate citizens, a person wearing a baseball cap and a mask stood in the hallway outside the door, gazing at her.
Su Sui dressed this way entirely to guard against Fu Jing.
A few days prior, the caretaker auntie had told her that a fashionable middle aged woman, claiming to be a friend of Gao Wei’s mother, had come to visit Gao Wei.
The auntie had always taken care of Gao Wei and was well aware of her situation. Coupled with the arrogance and malice revealed in the woman’s words and gaze, she did not disclose anything. After briefly sending the woman away, she immediately informed Su Sui.
Based on the auntie’s description, Su Sui deduced that the woman was likely Fu Jing. However, she didn’t know why Fu Jing had come to see Gao Wei, nor what she intended to do.
She vaguely felt that Fu Jing’s appearance likely concealed a huge conspiracy, so she decided to observe secretly for a few days first.
Just as she was focusing all her attention on Gao Wei, a woman quietly approached and stood behind her.
The woman was wearing a thick down jacket and also a mask, revealing only half of her exquisite face. Her eyes were large, glistening with unshed tears, and her skin was snow-white.
She stood beside Su Sui, quietly gazing at her.
Su Sui sensed her presence and turned around, meeting those familiar yet strange, beautiful eyes.
“Jianyan…” Su Sui murmured softly.
Shen Jianyan nodded, and tears immediately spilled from her eyes. She choked up and threw herself into Su Sui’s arms, hugging her tightly. “Su Sui, I missed you so much.”
Shen Jianyan said she missed her.
This left Su Sui momentarily stunned, unsure how to react.
In fact, after she had insisted on removing her own cornea and giving it to Shen Jianyan, she had been fully prepared for Shen Jianyan to break ties with her or even detest her.
However, Shen Jianyan did not.
She still called her “Su Sui” gently, and now she tearfully embraced her, clinging tightly to her like a wounded little animal, murmuring, “I brought back the roses you picked for me…”
During her time in the ancient castle, Shen Jianyan had heard quite a bit about Su Sui from the caretakers and Mo Chenlin.
For example, the ancient castle was a gift from Su Sui to her.
Or, in the secondary bedroom of the castle, there was a wardrobe filled with Su Sui’s restrained yet intense love for her… and the thorny roses placed around the room…
Su Sui had made sacrifices for her time and time again, changing her own habits for her, restraining herself for her.
Even when she had spoken coldly or even harshly to Su Sui, Su Sui had never held a grudge.
She had even unhesitatingly made sacrifices for her, always holding her in the palm of her hand, accompanying her tirelessly, forgiving her, and protecting her.
These instances, one after another, were enough for Shen Jianyan to engrave them in her heart.
She should not betray the love Su Sui had for her.
She should cherish her; all barriers, statuses, and conflicts could be set aside. As long as their two hearts were aligned, there was no obstacle they couldn’t overcome.
“Jianyan… you’re not angry ugh” Before Su Sui could finish speaking, Shen Jianyan pulled off the mask and sealed her lips with her own.
Shen Jianyan’s kiss was unusually fierce and passionate. Su Sui felt as if her chest was about to explode, and gasping for breath, she reached out to pat Shen Jianyan’s shoulder, trying to create some distance between them.
However, Shen Jianyan grasped her hands, pressed them against the wall, and kissed her even more forcefully.
The hospital corridor was bustling with people coming and going, quickly attracting the attention of many onlookers. Some had already silently taken out their phones, ready to take pictures and record videos.
Su Sui quickly reached out and covered Shen Jianyan’s mouth.
She didn’t care about the gazes coming from all around; she was even enjoying it. But their situation was truly unsuitable for being too high profile and ostentatious. After all, anything that fell into the hands of ill-intentioned people could become a weapon to attack them.
“What? Shy now?” Shen Jianyan smiled teasingly at Su Sui.
“No.” Su Sui quickly pulled their masks back into place. “There are too many eyes here. Let’s go back first.”
As she spoke, she took Shen Jianyan’s hand and hurried out of the hospital.
“Where are we going back to? I haven’t even seen Gao Wei yet…” Shen Jianyan muttered.
“Another day,” Su Sui’s footsteps didn’t slow as she pulled her along quickly to leave the hospital.
As soon as the two returned to the villa, before they could even close the door, Shen Jianyan once again pushed Su Sui against the wall.
Just when Su Sui thought Shen Jianyan was going to kiss her again, the other person merely took off her baseball cap, removed Su Sui’s mask, and then stared intently at the eye patch over Su Sui’s right eye, lost in thought.
Shen Jianyan’s mind was filled with the scenes from the operating room, and the tip of her nose began to feel sore. “It must have hurt a lot, right?”
“It didn’t hurt at all,” Su Sui gripped Shen Jianyan’s hand, which was reaching to pull off the eye patch, and brought it to her lips, kissing it tenderly. “It’s just a bit ugly; you better not look.”
The car accident four years ago had nearly killed both her and Shen Jianyan. Although they both survived in the end, the person who caused Shen Jianyan’s permanent right eye damage had not only been released from prison unharmed but was now plotting something again.
This time, she absolutely would not allow Shen Jianyan to fall into danger again. She would make sure every single person who had ever hurt Jianyan was sent to hell, one by one.
Shen Jianyan was immersed in Su Sui’s tenderness, completely unaware of the coldness flashing through her mind.
She merely raised a finger to gently trace Su Sui’s eyebrows and eyelashes, gliding across her eye socket inch by inch, caressing her soft lips, as if doing so was the only way to confirm Su Sui was truly safe.
“You have to promise me you won’t do anything this foolish again.”
Shen Jianyan’s voice held a tremor.
Su Sui hesitated.
This hesitation made Shen Jianyan vaguely uneasy.
Su Sui’s thoughts were hard to fathom; she couldn’t guess them, nor did she want to.
But that didn’t mean she couldn’t see anything at all.
Take this moment, for instance: the reason for Su Sui’s hesitation and the factors she was weighing must be related to some difficult problem she didn’t know about.
And this problem was likely connected to her.
Shen Jianyan cupped Su Sui’s face and repeated with extreme seriousness, “No more foolishness! We both have to be well from now on.”
Shen Jianyan gazed into Su Sui’s eyes.
Su Sui slightly pursed her red lips.
A moment later, she finally nodded slowly, accepting Shen Jianyan’s request.
Shen Jianyan let out a breath of relief and proactively kissed Su Sui.
The two kissed deeply, as if trying to vent all the accumulated longing from their time apart.
Disheveled steps trod upon the discarded heavy clothing, moving from the entryway to the living room, and then from the living room to the bedroom.
The bedsheets were scattered messily, the soaked marks resembling blooming flowers.
The crystal lamp on the bedside table gently swayed its tassel skirt, emitting a faint glimmer in the daylight, which accentuated the beauty of the two figures on the glass beads.
It was an enchanting picture, beautiful and evocative.
Su Sui and Shen Jianyan “cooked” all night long.
The next day, when Shen Jianyan woke up, Su Sui was still fast asleep, clinging tightly to her and holding her fast.
Shen Jianyan leaned down and kissed her once.
“Good morning” Su Sui mumbled.
Shen Jianyan couldn’t help but kiss her again. “If you’re tired, sleep more,” she said, starting to get up.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going to the hospital today to stay with Gao Wei. I wonder how her second round of radiation therapy went.”
Shen Jianyan let out a big yawn as she spoke, the tears welling up at the corners of her eyes.
Before her feet even touched the floor, Su Sui tightly grasped her wrist. “You’re not allowed to go. I’m jealous.”
“Huh?” Shen Jianyan froze. “Jealous of Gao Wei?”
Su Sui turned her head away, but her intention was clear.
“She’s my sister, and you’re jealous of her?” Shen Jianyan found it somewhat funny and exasperating.
“Are you saying you want me not to be jealous, that I shouldn’t care?” Su Sui sat up and turned to look at her. “I can’t do that.”
Shen Jianyan: “…”
She looked at the person in front of her, feeling as if a lifetime had passed since they last met. Back then, Su Sui had used every tactic and excuse to stop her from visiting Gao Wei.
But back then, she hadn’t wavered in her desire to accompany Gao Wei.
Yet, now, facing such direct and intense possessiveness and desire for exclusivity, she felt a little swayed.
She thought that Gao Wei had the caretaker auntie looking after her; going there probably wouldn’t help much and might just cause trouble.
It might as well be to spend a few days alone with Su Sui, and then it wouldn’t be too late to visit Gao Wei.
So, Shen Jianyan gave in to her request, “Fine, I won’t go.”
Seeing her compromise, Su Sui’s lips curved into a satisfied smile. “Good girl.”
However, Shen Jianyan did not know that behind that smile lay Su Sui’s desire to push her out of the vortex.
