Obsessive Love, The Possessive Real Young Lady - Chapter 42
Su Sui’s voice was soft, but the sorrow it conveyed seemed capable of infecting everyone who passed by her.
What she said was vague.
But Shen Jiayan knew that the “she” Su Sui was referring to was herself.
Faced with such a direct question, Shen Jiayan didn’t know how to answer. Her body stiffened, and she could only stare blankly at Su Sui.
The two stood in confrontation, the air so still it was almost frozen.
After a long while.
Shen Jiayan finally found her voice and, forcing a show of composure, said, “What do you mean by saying all this? Are you trying to make me pity you? Or is it…”
“Pity you?” Su Sui laughed and interrupted her. “Shen Jiayan, have you ever pitied me? No. And do I really need your pity? No.”
“The reason I’m saying this is just to tell you: Stop looking at me with colored glasses and be fair to me. I think this request is not too much to ask, right?”
That last sentence left Shen Jiayan utterly speechless.
She had indeed always held a prejudice against Su Sui.
They grew up together, lived together.
Yet, she had never once tried to figure out what thoughts were hidden behind those calm eyes.
Because of this, when she and Su Sui stood on opposite sides, she would subconsciously hide the affection she never confessed and remain vigilant towards Su Sui at all times.
In fact, every word Su Sui spoke, every glance, every action, she had to ponder for a long, long time.
After all, she was facing a woman who could go crazy at any moment.
Su Sui saw a hint of doubt still lingering in her eyes and decided not to say any more.
Saying too much could be counterproductive.
She then turned to the caregiver, “Auntie, could I trouble you to communicate with the hospital staff to add another bed in the ward?”
Although the caregiver didn’t know why an extra bed was needed or for whom, she quickly agreed, “Okay, I’ll go tell them now.”
Once the caregiver left, Shen Jiayan grabbed Su Sui’s wrist, “What exactly do you want!”
“Didn’t you want to stay and accompany Gao Wei? Are you planning to sleep on the floor?” Su Sui retorted, her tone full of mockery.
Shen Jiayan’s face instantly flushed red. She glared at Su Sui through gritted teeth.
“I…”
Before Shen Jiayan could speak, Su Sui cut her off.
Su Sui said calmly, “I won’t bother you for the next few days. You take good care of Gao Wei, but don’t overwork yourself; you can ask Auntie for some help.”
As she spoke, she suddenly smiled, “If you have some free time, you can think about me.” With that, she took advantage of Shen Jiayan’s stunned silence to give her a light kiss on the lips.
Then, she walked out without looking back.
After Su Sui left, the entire world seemed to become exceptionally quiet.
Shen Jiayan almost couldn’t believe that Su Sui had left so easily.
Holding onto this doubt, Shen Jiayan spent the first stage of Gao Wei’s radiotherapy period with her.
During this time, Su Sui, apart from occasional communication with the caregiver, truly disappeared from Shen Jiayan’s world.
“Okay, I understand.”
The caregiver hung up the phone and walked over to Shen Jiayan, who was packing her things.
“Miss Su said she is waiting for you both in the parking lot downstairs. If you don’t want her to pick up Xiao Gao for discharge, she will leave.”
The caregiver relayed the message truthfully.
After hearing this, Shen Jiayan pursed her lips and remained silent for a moment.
“Sis, you’ve folded these clothes back and forth several times,” Gao Wei, sitting on the edge of the bed, patted her hand. “Since you’re too proud to ask, I’ll decide. Su Sui is here to pick me up anyway.”
Gao Wei finished speaking, not giving Shen Jiayan a chance to argue back.
She quickly called out to the caregiver, “Auntie, ask her to come up. We have a lot of things, and she can help carry some.”
“Okay, I’ll call her then.” The caregiver nodded in agreement and hurried away, as if an aggressive dog were chasing her.
Shen Jiayan frowned, wanting to say something.
But after glancing towards the door, she ultimately held back and kept quiet.
Gao Wei smiled sweetly at Shen Jiayan, “Sis, Director Mom always said, don’t easily refuse the kindness of others, especially those you care about.”
“I…” Shen Jiayan opened her mouth, only managing to say dryly, “Who cares about her?”
Gao Wei knew Shen Jiayan was very concerned about saving face, so she didn’t bother arguing.
Instead, she called out loudly, “Do you really not care?” As she said this, she affectionately leaned on Shen Jiayan’s right shoulder, twirling a few strands of red hair with her fingertips, her eyes showing a hint of unwillingness. “Then I’ll tell you a secret. Su Sui is beautiful, kind-hearted, and rich. It’s a pity my time is short; otherwise, I would definitely win her over!”
But hearing Gao Wei say this, a touch of dissatisfaction and sourness settled in Shen Jiayan’s heart, making the soft fabric in her hands feel somewhat prickly.
She shook her shoulder slightly, “I remember someone once said they weren’t interested in women. What? Have you changed your mind now?”
Gao Wei choked, immediately feeling a sharp pain in her chest.
Her gaze fell upon Shen Jiayan’s exquisite profile, and a complex emotion flashed through her eyes. She then quickly lowered her head as if to hide it and coughed lightly, “Sis, why do you always like to mock me? Besides, people change. I was only 19 then, young and reckless, unaware of ‘Big Sister’s fragrance.’ It’s different now.”
When she said this, her eyes unconsciously drifted towards Shen Jiayan again, conveying a feeling that was both bitter and slightly sweet.
This feeling made Gao Wei’s eyes instantly redden.
It was at this moment that Su Sui pushed the door open and walked in.
She saw Shen Jiayan, she saw Gao Wei leaning on Shen Jiayan’s shoulder, and she saw Gao Wei’s gaze filled with deep attachment.
Su Sui curled the corner of her lips, “Are you done packing?”
An hour later, the car stopped steadily outside a two-story villa.
The villa had a simple architectural style, and the courtyard was planted with various flowers and trees, including an osmanthus tree.
The osmanthus tree was lush and dense, covering the sky. Sunlight filtered through the branches, dappling the ground with shifting, fragmented silver light.
“We’re here,” Su Sui reminded them, opening the car door first and getting out.
Then Shen Jiayan also opened her door and slowly walked out. She stood before the door, looking at the unfamiliar house, her eyes flickering.
Su Sui stood beside her, but her gaze remained fixed on her.
Shen Jiayan seemed to notice and suddenly turned her head to look at Su Sui. Their eyes met.
Su Sui, “What’s wrong? You don’t like it here?”
“No, it’s not that.” Shen Jiayan quickly averted her gaze, “I’m just a little surprised.”
She had thought Su Sui would take her and Gao Wei back to the Shen family villa.
After all, Su Sui had always wanted her to return to her former life.
She hadn’t expected…
“I know you don’t want to go back to the Shen family,” Su Sui said, naturally taking her hand. “So I bought this. From now on, this will be your and Gao Wei’s home.”
Shen Jiayan: “……”
She looked down at their clasped hands, her heart suddenly speeding up, unsure how to react.
Su Sui seemed to have really changed…
But where exactly had she changed?
“Let’s go,” Su Sui’s hand remained tightly clasped around hers, leading her inside.
As soon as the two stepped into the house, Gao Wei eagerly rushed into a bedroom and shouted towards the living room, “This room is mine! No one can take it from me!”
Shen Jiayan looked at Gao Wei’s excited and skipping figure, feeling inexplicably complicated.
All of this was too sudden.
She never expected Su Sui to buy a villa and give it to her as a temporary residence.
After all, she had been thinking of returning to that seaside town to spend the rest of her life there.
“What are you thinking about?” Su Sui noticed Shen Jiayan’s dazed look and asked softly.
Shen Jiayan snapped back to attention and shook her head, “Nothing.”
She raised her eyes and gazed at Su Sui.
Su Sui happened to be looking at her too, her long, dark eyes quietly fixed on her.
“What is it?” Su Sui asked with a raised eyebrow.
Shen Jiayan’s mood was complicated; she couldn’t articulate the feeling.
She looked up at Su Sui, hesitated for a moment, wondering whether to tell her that she would actually prefer to return to the seaside town and open her own little bar.
But when she met Su Sui’s gentle, watery eyes, she pressed her thin lips together and hesitated.
In the end, she didn’t say it out loud.
Instead, Su Sui saw right through her, as usual.
“Don’t feel burdened,”
Su Sui said, then let go of Shen Jiayan’s hand. “If you don’t want to stay in M City, then we can go back after Gao Wei recovers.”
She turned and sat on the sofa with her back to Shen Jiayan, the gentleness in her eyes completely gone. “As long as you feel happy and comfortable, that’s all that matters.”
Shen Jiayan watched her back.
Even though it was late summer turning into early autumn, she inexplicably felt that Su Sui was surrounded by a faint layer of sorrow.
That sadness seemed to emanate from the depths of her bones.
Shen Jiayan was silent for a moment, “Su Sui, thank you.”
When Su Sui heard those three words, her expression instantly stiffened.
She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms, “You don’t need to say thank you between us, do you?”
After a long pause, Su Sui stood up, and a smile returned to her face, “Besides, if anyone should be saying thank you now, it shouldn’t be you.”
“Hm?” Shen Jiayan blinked, confused.
Su Sui hooked her lips into a smile and said to Gao Wei, who was sadly alone in the bedroom, “Gao Wei, do you want to go abroad for a trip?”
Gao Wei took a deep breath, suppressing the sourness in her heart.
She put on her signature smile again and bounced out of the bedroom, “I do!! Where are we going?”
Su Sui narrowed her eyes slightly, “Wherever you want to go.”
“Really?!” Gao Wei immediately got excited, “Su Sui!! You’re the best, I really like you!!”
Saying that, she flew towards Su Sui.
Su Sui was caught off guard and nearly knocked over.
Unexpectedly, Gao Wei clung to her arm instead, smiling brightly and looking up to ask, “Tell me, do you like me too? Is that why you’re being so nice to me?”
Su Sui froze, the smile on her face vanishing instantly, her tone turning colder, “Let go.”
“Hmph,” Gao Wei pouted, “No, I won’t. I won’t let go.”
Her face was full of smug satisfaction, completely ignoring Su Sui’s displeased expression.
Su Sui tried to pull her hand away and push Gao Wei away.
But the other woman held onto her arm tightly, refusing to let go, even declaring boldly, “Oh come on, don’t be petty. We’re all women, what’s wrong with letting me hug you for a bit?”
The two continued to argue, pushing and pulling in the living room.
And Shen Jiayan, also in the living room, watched them with a constant frown.
These two women were becoming increasingly incomprehensible to her.
Especially Gao Wei, did she really fall for Su Sui??
