Not A Stupid Beauty [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 10
“Just you and me?”
“…And my mom.”
Shi Yu had guessed as much, which was why she had asked. Pei Shuyu was a kind person, but she was also as weak as Shuiyu was, completely obedient to her parents and afraid to fight back in any way.
Pei Yiyi raised her well. She was gentle, elegant, knew her place, and was a perfect young lady, but she had lost her own personality, like a piece of jade with all its edges smoothed down.
At a time like this, she would never have called Shi Yu on her own unless her parents told her to.
“I don’t have anything to say to Mrs. Pei. I have to go now.”
Before, in the Pei family, Shi Yu called Pei Yiyi “Madam” along with the other servants. Now that she had nothing to do with them, calling her “Mrs.” was more than enough.
Pei Yiyi never personally bullied her, but she was well aware of all the things Shi Huaixin had done. She was an accomplice.
Shi Yu couldn’t help but hate her. There was no way she could calmly sit down and talk to her. The only thing she could do was never see them again.
After hanging up, Shi Yu sat on the sofa, sinking into the cushions.
Every time she had anything to do with that family, her mood would become heavy. Now, just hearing about them made her feel tired. It was like she had PTSD.
A notification sound came from her phone. Shi Yu knew who it was without looking. She closed her eyes and emptied her mind. It took a while for her to calm down.
This apartment was so big. Being alone made her feel lonely.
The maid would come later to clean the room and prepare dinner. The only thing she had to do was wait for Jiang Qiuyan to come home.
Shi Yu was a person with no big ambitions. Once her life became too comfortable, she didn’t want to change it.
After all, who would refuse a life of just lying around?
She thought that this wasn’t good. She needed to find something to do, or she would get too comfortable and forget her original goal of getting close to Jiang Qiuyan.
The lock clicked open. The maid walked in and smiled when she saw her.
“Miss Yu, you’re home?”
Shi Yu nodded and smiled back.
She didn’t like the last name Shi, so she had only told the maid that her name was Xiaoyu.
Originally, her last name was her mother’s, but Shi Huaixin had forced her to change it to his.
Thinking about it made Shi Yu feel sick, but everyone was already used to calling her Shi Yu, so she didn’t correct them.
When she left here, she would change her name back to her original name: Su Yu.
To be honest, she didn’t like her mother’s last name either, but a person had to have a last name. Compared to Shi, she preferred Su. At least that person gave her life.
The maid put on her gloves and was about to wash the dishes. Shuiyu squeezed in next to her and started washing them with her. The maid was startled and quickly said, “Oh, Miss Yu, you should just sit. I’ll do it!”
“I’m bored with nothing to do. Let’s do it together and chat.”
The maid still wouldn’t let her, holding onto the sink. “Miss Jiang told me to take good care of you. If I let you help me with chores, what’s the point of me getting paid?”
“If you don’t tell and I don’t tell, she won’t know.”
Shi Yu winked at her, her hands already in the sink.
“Oh, goodness!” the maid sighed, looking helpless.
Shi Yu gave her a playful smile. “Auntie, are there any places around here that are hiring?”
“Huh?” The maid was a little confused.
In her eyes, someone who lived in such a nice place, used such expensive furniture, and had such beautiful tableware must be rich and powerful. Why would she need a job?
“I’m the only one here when Miss Jiang is at work, and it gets boring. I want to find something to do.”
Of course, that wasn’t the only reason.
Even though Jiang Qiuyan gave her 200,000, it wasn’t enough to last her the rest of her life. Plus, when she went to a new city, she would have to deal with people. She might as well practice now.
The maid thought for a moment. “The supermarket downstairs is hiring cashiers. I can ask for you later.”
“Thank you, Auntie~” Shi Yu smiled sweetly. She remembered something and asked, “Are there any education requirements? I only have a middle school education.”
She had been forced to drop out before finishing her senior year, so she didn’t even have a high school diploma.
The maid was confused again and took a few seconds to respond. “I don’t think so. Being a cashier isn’t hard. You’ll learn it quickly.”
“Okay!” Shi Yu happily put the dishes into the sanitizer.
The maid had always thought Shi Yu was a college student from a nearby university. Shi Yu’s one sentence about her middle school education had completely thrown her off.
She felt it was a great pity.
After doing some housework with the maid, Shi Yu’s mood had improved. It was true that when your body was tired, your mind wasn’t.
Shi Yu had cooked for herself since she was a child. Even though the dishes were unique and didn’t follow any recipes, the combination of ingredients was surprisingly tasty.
Jiang Qiuyan messaged Shi Yu when she got home, saying she was at the door. As soon as Shuiyu walked over, she opened the door, came inside, and gave her a big hug.
“I’m home!”
Her tone was joyful, like an office worker who had been tormented all day and finally got a break.
Shi Yu hugged her back and rubbed her face against hers. “Working hard?”
The maid leaned against the dining table, a fond smile on her face.
Oh, young people are so affectionate. But they’re both so beautiful to look at.
The maid: Hug more. I love watching.
By the time Jiang Qiuyan changed her clothes, the maid had already left for the day. Usually, she would stay until the two of them finished eating and had cleaned the kitchen. But Shi Yu had told her to go home early.
She didn’t like people watching her eat. She felt more comfortable with just her and Jiang Qiuyan.
Jiang Qiuyan looked at the table with its oddly paired dishes, a little hesitant to pick up her chopsticks. Shi Yu rested her chin on her hand and asked, “Why aren’t you eating? I made these especially for you.”
Jiang Qiuyan caught the most important part. “You made all this?”
“Auntie helped me prepare the ingredients, so we made it together.”
Shi Yu smiled innocently, revealing her little pointed canines. She looked incredibly cute and adorable.
Jiang Qiuyan immediately picked up her chopsticks. After taking a bite, her eyes lit up, and she praised her without holding back.
“This is so good. Much better than the chef at home.”
In reality, Shi Yu knew that the dishes were just okay. They couldn’t compare to the chef at the Jiang family’s mansion. But Jiang Qiuyan’s words made her feel incredibly proud.
A person from a rich family like Jiang Qiuyan had eaten everything. For her to say that a few simple homemade dishes were good was the best compliment she could give.
Shi Yu couldn’t stop herself from smiling and started putting more food in Jiang Qiuyan’s bowl.
“Eat more if it’s good. This is all for you.”
Jiang Qiuyan pinched her round cheek. “Aren’t you eating?”
“Just watching you eat makes me full.” Shi Yu laughed and then remembered something. “…You’re a feast for the eyes.”
She just happened to remember this idiom and said it without thinking, but Jiang Qiuyan didn’t see it that way. Her heart skipped a beat at Shi Yu’s words, and something seemed to be swirling in her eyes.
It looks like the little cat has some genuine feelings for her.
Liking my face is still liking me. It seemed she should make good use of her looks to make her like her more.
Until that liking turned into love.
Just for her as a person, without her identity, status, money, and everything else.
That’s when it would be love.
Luckily, I have a lot of time. I can wait.
“Open your mouth,” she said.
Shi Yu obediently opened her mouth and was fed a big piece of braised pork.
“There’s so much food on the table. You have to help me finish it.”
Shi Yu mumbled in response, her cheeks full of food. Her eyes curved into crescents, her long, thick eyelashes fluttering like a butterfly resting on a peach blossom branch.
A feast for the eyes. This phrase also applied to her. Jiang Qiuyan thought this and started feeding her even more.
After they finished eating, Shi Yu went to clean up the dishes. Jiang Qiuyan stopped her. She didn’t ask why Shi Yu had told the maid to leave. She just didn’t want Shi Yu’s beautiful hands to touch the water, so she took on all the chores herself.
Shi Yu wouldn’t dare let a chaebol heiress wash dishes and mop floors. Besides, it was obvious that she was a rich girl who never had to lift a finger. She just threw the dishes into the sink, causing a clatter and breaking a few plates.
“I’ll do it.”
Shi Yu smiled helplessly and stood beside her, quickly washing the dishes.
Jiang Qiuyan’s eyes never left her face. As Shuiyu turned to put a bowl away, she quickly kissed her.
“My little baby is so amazing.”
Shi Yu blinked. She thought, what’s so great about washing dishes?
But it felt good.
Growing up, her mother had never praised her. At the Pei family, she was treated as useless. She had never imagined that one day, she would be praised for something as simple as cooking and washing dishes.
It was strange and new.
Her heart felt like it was soaking in warm water, bubbling with emotion. She figured this must be her gratitude for Jiang Qiuyan.
“Thank you.”
Jiang Qiuyan was confused about why she suddenly said that. But since the opportunity was right in front of her, wouldn’t it be a shame not to use it?
“Just with your mouth?”
“What else would I use?”
“You don’t have to say anything. You can show me in other ways.”
Jiang Qiuyan held her and pressed her against the counter, rubbing her nose against Shi Yu’s. Her lips were inches away but didn’t touch.
She wanted Shi Yu to make the first move.
