No One Else Will Do But You - Chapter 9
“Hey, I think I saw a girl confessing to Jiang Mu on the playground yesterday?”
“Really? A relationship already?”
“What are you thinking? A confession is not a relationship! But the girl was from the high school.”
“A high school girl liking a boy from eighth grade? It seems our Jiang Mu is too good. Even the high school girls are starting to notice him.”
Zhang Feiyang nudged Shu Luo, who was sleeping. “Hey, did you hear that? Your Jiang Mu is getting noticed. Don’t you have anything to say?”
Jiang Mu, who was also dozing next to him, looked up and said coldly, “It’s too loud.”
“It’s too loud… Shu Luo is not feeling well. Speak more softly.”
Zhang Feiyang and his friends swallowed in unison. Oh no, we forgot the person is right here. They exchanged glances and quietly walked away. Handsome guys can be a little intimidating.
Shu Luo slowly lifted his head and turned to look at Jiang Mu.
Perhaps his gaze was too intense, as Jiang Mu seemed a little uncomfortable.
“What’s wrong?” Jiang Mu asked.
Shu Luo smiled strangely. “Hehe, a relationship?”
“…” What a listener. A confession is a relationship? He’d already forgotten what the girl looked like.
“You’re not denying it?” Shu Luo raised an eyebrow, a smug look on his face, as if he had caught Jiang Mu in the act.
Jiang Mu reached out and ruffled his hair, saying helplessly, “Where do you get these ideas? I don’t like older women, and she’s four years older than me.”
Shu Luo unhappily swatted his hand away. “Go away, go away. Don’t mess up my hair. What’s with this bad habit? Did you raise too many puppies?”
Jiang Mu laughed. “You’re the puppy.”
Shu Luo’s eyes widened in anger, and he furiously wrapped his arm around Jiang Mu’s neck. “What are you doing? Do you want to rebel? I’m your master, and you can’t defy me!”
Jiang Mu easily took him down and pinned him to his chair, a smirk on his face. “You want to pin me down? You’ll need to drink more milk and get taller first.”
This provocation clearly infuriated Shu Luo. He struggled to kick up, but Jiang Mu sat down, pinning his leg. The faint smile on his face was especially irritating.
Shu Luo pouted. “This is no fun. I always lose.”
He tried to get up, but Jiang Mu didn’t move.
The half-smile on Jiang Mu’s face made Shu Luo’s heart pound.
“Wha-What are you doing?” Shu Luo had a bad feeling.
“Call me ‘ge’ and I’ll let you up.”
Shu Luo had no choice but to give in again. “Ge, ge, is that enough? Can you let your little brother up now?”
Jiang Mu let go of Shu Luo and straightened his school uniform. He then looked at Shu Luo’s sulking face and couldn’t help but feel happier. Suddenly, he had an idea.
“Luo Luo, from now on, call me ‘ge.’ Don’t use my name.”
“Are you still playing this game? Is this a role-playing game? A deep bond between brothers?” Shu Luo patted Jiang Mu’s shoulder helplessly. “Ge, some things are just for fun. Don’t get too into character.”
Jiang Mu suddenly became serious. “Shu Luo, I’m serious.”
Shu Luo looked at him, confused. “Why? Even if I don’t call you that, we’re still brothers, aren’t we?”
“It’s different. The meaning is different.”
“How is it different?”
From a distance, Zhang Feiyang had been watching the two of them “flirt” during the entire break. He couldn’t stand it anymore.
“Hey, hey, you two, that’s enough. You’re making everyone else jealous. Aren’t you tired of this game yet? I can’t even look at you anymore.” Zhang Feiyang intervened, interrupting their debate.
Shu Luo looked up at Zhang Feiyang and smiled. “Oh, someone’s jealous. What’s wrong, are you envious?”
Zhang Feiyang crossed his arms in disgust. “Who’s jealous? I just don’t want you guys to be embarrassing yourselves in the classroom.”
Shu Luo pointed to the two boys sitting in the front row of the next row. “They’re doing it, too. Why aren’t you telling them off?”
Zhang Feiyang looked over. “…” Okay, everyone’s doing it. I’m just lonely.
“Zhang Feiyang, are you looking for trouble?” Shu Luo walked up and casually put his hand on his shoulder.
Zhang Feiyang rolled his eyes in annoyance. “A friend-forsaker, that’s what you are.”
“Go away, go play somewhere else.”
“Oh, is there a village leader meeting going on?”
A snarky voice belonging to Zhong Qing suddenly rang out.
Shu Luo chose to ignore her, as this woman was an expert at derailing conversations.
Zhong Qing saw Shu Luo’s face fall, and she smiled with satisfaction. “Shu Luo, why aren’t you happy?”
“I’m going to the bathroom.”
Shu Luo was about to get up when Zhong Qing held him down. “Why do you never look happy when you see me?”
“I have to have a good impression first,” Shu Luo said back, a rare occurrence.
Zhong Qing looked at him with a once-in-a-lifetime expression. “Oh, you’re talking back to me today. That’s a first.”
Jiang Mu frowned. He didn’t know why they always talked like this, but he could tell that Zhong Qing was deliberately provoking Shu Luo. However, Shu Luo had been taught by his mom that good boys don’t fight with girls, so he always gave in to Zhong Qing. Jiang Mu was curious about why things were always like this between them.
Perhaps Zhang Feiyang noticed Jiang Mu’s confusion, so he whispered in his ear, “Actually, Shu Luo likes Zhong Qing, which is why he always gives in to her.”
The moment the words left his mouth, Jiang Mu’s face darkened, and the pressure in the air around him dropped.
Shu Luo turned around and met Jiang Mu’s deep gaze. As a mixed-heritage kid, his eyes were naturally a lighter, amber color, which usually looked gentle, but when he was angry, they became terrifyingly cold.
“Wha-What’s wrong?”
Jiang Mu looked at him and said, “Didn’t you say you wanted to go to the bathroom? Don’t know how to go by yourself? I’ll help you.”
He then grabbed Shu Luo by the collar and dragged him out.
Zhong Qing looked at Jiang Mu’s back and a knowing smile appeared on her face.
Then she turned to Zhang Feiyang. “What did you say to him?”
“Uh… I was joking that Shu Luo liked you, and then Jiang Mu, well, he…”
Zhong Qing nodded. “Oh?”
It seems this Jiang Mu is not so simple.
Shu Luo was innocently dragged into what was supposed to be the bathroom but was actually a supply closet.
“Jiang Mu, what are you doing?” Shu Luo asked, looking at Jiang Mu’s gloomy face.
“Do you like Zhong Qing?”
“What? How is that possible? Are you kidding me?”
After getting confirmation, Jiang Mu nodded. “Okay, go back.”
With that, he walked back to the classroom, leaving Shu Luo alone in a state of confusion.
“Sigh, I’m so tired. Why is everyone around me so weird? Am I the only normal one?”
Jiang Mu didn’t believe Zhang Feiyang’s words, but he just wanted to confirm it. It seems that Zhong Qing likes Shu Luo.
