No One Else Will Do But You - Chapter 45
There was a small, cold atmosphere in the car.
Seeing that Shu Luo’s complexion wasn’t good, Jiang Mu decided to ask later and instead changed to a lighter topic.
“Why did you come over?”
Shu Luo, seeing that he didn’t dwell on the neck issue, said, “Oh, I didn’t have class this afternoon, so I thought I’d come and find you. You don’t have class this afternoon either, right?”
“Your complexion isn’t good. Are you feeling unwell?”
Shu Luo waved his hand. “I’m fine. I just finished dissection class this morning. I consider it progress that I didn’t throw up. Everyone else basically couldn’t handle it, especially the girls. The most I feel now is a bit of nausea.”
Jiang Mu was relieved that it wasn’t due to illness. However, he couldn’t ignore the ring of red marks on his neck.
The apartment wasn’t far from the school, nor was it far from the company. It was convenient for running between the two, and sometimes when he was busy, he went straight back to the apartment instead of the villa.
After entering the elevator, Jiang Mu stood behind Shu Luo, and his sharp eyes immediately spotted a patch of purple-red behind his shoulder.
“Who touched you?!”
The voice behind him was extremely cold.
Shu Luo suddenly turned around, covering his right shoulder. “Uh… I, I was hit.”
The elevator happened to stop on the 27th floor.
Jiang Mu led him out and entered the apartment using the password.
As soon as they entered, Jiang Mu pinned him against the wall, locking him between his arms. Their eyes met.
Shu Luo swallowed hard. He feared seeing Jiang Mu’s eyes like this the most, as he truly couldn’t read what he was thinking.
“Who touched you?” The tone was slightly better than before, but his anger was still unconcealed.
“Well, actually, I had a small fight with someone before I came here.”
Jiang Mu pulled back his clothes, revealing a glaring patch of purple bruising. He frowned instantly.
“Are you hurt anywhere else?”
“My back hurts a little.”
Jiang Mu simply took off his shirt. Sure enough, there were bruises on his back as well.
“How did you get hit like this? It’s clearly not from a punch.”
Shu Luo grumbled in annoyance. “I was confused at first, too. Someone stopped me in the bathroom right after class and slammed me against the wall. The bruise on my shoulder is from where he grabbed me with force. But later, I managed to hit him back. Good thing I learned some Sanda skills from you, or I might have been disfigured. Actually, ha-choo—” He sneezed before finishing his sentence.
Jiang Mu quickly put the shirt back on him. Although it was early autumn, he still needed to prevent him from catching a cold.
“Let’s eat lunch here. I still have some ingredients in the kitchen. Go take a shower first, and I’ll apply medicine for you afterward.”
Shu Luo nodded, rubbed his nose, and went straight into the bathroom.
After showering, he realized he hadn’t brought any clothes in. Looking at the bathrobe hanging on the wall, he decided to put it on first and then go look for clothes.
And so, this was the sight that greeted Jiang Mu—one that left him feeling parched.
Drops of water slid down his damp hair, tracing his collarbone, and disappearing under the robe. Fair skin, slightly flushed cheeks, and clear, bright eyes.
Jiang Mu’s eyes darkened, filled with a fiery intensity.
“Brother, I forgot to bring clothes in,” Shu Luo said, scratching his head in embarrassment.
How could this action not be provocative?
Jiang Mu suppressed his desire and said, “The clothes are in the room. Blow-dry your hair before coming out.”
He then turned back to the kitchen, not even realizing that his voice had become a few shades deeper.
A mischievous smile flashed in Shu Luo’s eyes.
Since he occasionally came here, he had a few sets of clothes left behind.
“Hey, Brother, that guy this morning came looking for me because of his girlfriend.”
“His girlfriend? Does that have anything to do with you?”
Shu Luo shook his head. “She’s just a classmate of mine. She borrowed my notes once in the library, and we’ve had no other interactions. That guy is weird enough, talking nonsense. Me, steal someone’s girlfriend?”
Jiang Mu slowed down his eating, watching the guy across from him eat happily. He felt a bit helpless. He really doesn’t know how exceptionally outstanding he is becoming. This often made Jiang Mu feel powerless, or anxious about the uncertainty of their relationship.
He couldn’t let go, nor could he fully claim him.
Seeing Jiang Mu distracted, Shu Luo was confused. “Brother? What are you thinking about?”
“It’s nothing. Eat quickly.”
After lunch, Shu Luo lay spread-eagled and comfortably on the sofa, rubbing his full belly.
In recent years, Jiang Mu had started learning to cook, and his culinary skills were now quite good. Shu Luo had been feeling nauseous, but the sight of food still made him hungry.
“Don’t lie down right after eating.”
Shu Luo heard Jiang Mu’s voice and silently sat up again. It had become a habit; he generally listened to what Jiang Mu said. That was why his parents completely trusted Jiang Mu. Of course, they had no idea of the underlying reason.
Jiang Mu came out with the first aid kit.
Shu Luo naturally took off his shirt.
Looking at Shu Luo’s slightly thin frame, Jiang Mu frowned. “Did you lose weight again?”
“Huh? No, I don’t think so.” He didn’t feel like he had lost weight, but the person behind him always had sharp eyes.
Jiang Mu took some medicated oil, warmed it in his palm, and then began to rub it onto the bruised area.
“Hiss—Be gentle.” Shu Luo flinched, cursing He Zemin again. Why do scholars have to get physical so easily?
“If I’m not firm, how will the bruise dissipate? Endure it.”
Shu Luo could only silently bear the pain, but his expression was definitely exaggerated and lively.
Jiang Mu could see it in the wall mirror behind the TV.
The smile in Jiang Mu’s eyes lingered.
His gaze then returned to Shu Luo’s back. The skin felt very delicate to the touch. Although he often trained him in Sanda, it was primarily skill-based training, so he hadn’t built up much muscle. The goal was physical fitness, as Shu Luo’s major was Clinical Medicine, the busiest department in the hospital. If he didn’t have the stamina for hard work when he started working, it would be difficult to handle multiple surgeries in a single day.
After applying the medicine, Shu Luo was ordered to step onto the scale to check his weight.
His original weight of 60 kg had indeed dropped to 57 kg.
Jiang Mu looked at him without speaking.
Shu Luo pouted. “This isn’t entirely my fault. It’s the post-dissection class side effects.”
“Starting next semester, I’ll bring you food every day when I’m not at school.”
Shu Luo looked at him in surprise. Does he have to be this devoted?
Jiang Mu pinched his face. “You can’t lose any more weight, or my mother will nag me when we go home next time.”
Indeed, Jiang Qin cherished Shu Luo even more than her own son, and she was the one person who could immediately tell if Shu Luo had lost weight, even when his own parents couldn’t.
Shu Luo could only nod.
Turning on the TV, the two began to chat casually.
With his head resting on Jiang Mu’s thigh, Shu Luo could look up and see the slight stubble beneath Jiang Mu’s chin.
Curiously, he reached out to touch it. It felt prickly.
Jiang Mu saw the person was truly bored, grabbed his hand, and asked with a smile, “Bored?”
“No, I was just curious what it feels like after shaving. Brother, do you think you’ll be full of stubble when you’re old?” He truly found it hard to imagine Jiang Mu at that age.
“What, you’ll dislike me?” Jiang Mu looked down into Shu Luo’s eyes.
The intensity made Shu Luo feel a little unnatural.
“Ahem, that depends. What if you get fat, too?” That direct gaze was truly killer.
“Heh.” Jiang Mu smiled and said no more.
Shu Luo really just watched the TV idly now, and soon felt drowsy.
Feeling the person on his leg breathing steadily, he looked down and saw that Shu Luo was asleep. He gently carried him into the bedroom so he could sleep properly.
After tucking him in, he gently kissed his forehead, and then left the room.
Entering the study, he connected to a video conference. The gentleness from moments ago seemed like a fleeting illusion, vanishing without a trace.
“CEO, the US side is ready. General Manager Su is also online.”
“We will start the meeting in five minutes.”
Yes, this man’s tenderness was reserved only for the person he deeply loved.
