My Wife, So Fierce! - Chapter 94
Zheng Yao fell silent for a moment. The next second, that hand had already moved up to grasp hers, giving it a tentative squeeze.
“Sister, I can’t sleep.”
Reason crumbled instantly, and a certain careful thought began to stir again. Zheng Yao’s breathing became uneven: “Shall we have a more in-depth exchange then?”
“I think that’s acceptable,” Shen Baiyi replied with a laugh in her voice.
The consequence of their overly in-depth exchange was that neither of them could get up the next day.
They had stayed up too late the previous night, and both were genuinely exhausted. Even Shen Baiyi, who rarely slept in, ended up waking late.
When she woke, Zheng Yao also roused. Seeing that Shen Baiyi was about to get out of bed, Zheng Yao couldn’t help but grab her hand: “Don’t bother making breakfast.”
“Isn’t Sister hungry?” As she spoke, Shen Baiyi leaned down and kissed her lips. “What would Sister like to eat?”
Seeing her attempt to use her charms to evade the issue, Zheng Yao turned her head away and insisted, “I’ll take you out to eat.”
“Alright.”
After all, there would be plenty of time in the future. There would definitely be more opportunities to make breakfast for Sister, no need to rush it now.
Originally, Zheng Yao thought that the time when she first got together with Shen Baiyi was already clingy enough. But after they actually became intimate, she realized there were even more clingy moments to come.
Even just brushing their teeth, Shen Baiyi would squeeze in beside her.
“Let me help Sister brush her teeth.”
As she said this, Shen Baiyi reached for her toothbrush.
Zheng Yao dodged slightly: “Stop fooling around.”
Seeing Sister evade her, Shen Baiyi sighed inwardly and instead wrapped her arms around her from behind: “Then I’ll keep Sister company while you brush.”
Zheng Yao: “…”
This is way too clingy!
But they were in the honeymoon phase of their relationship, so being a little clingy was probably normal, right? If she weren’t older than Shen Baiyi, Zheng Yao herself would have felt like clinging to her too.
After all, Shen Baiyi had to return to school in the afternoon.
Because of this, Zheng Yao’s tolerance for Shen Baiyi multiplied several times over.
After finishing their morning routine, it was almost time for lunch. Zheng Yao directly took her to a restaurant she occasionally visited in the past.
While the taste wasn’t a hundred percent delicious, it was still passable. Zheng Yao had reserved a private room and thankfully, it was a private room.
Not only did Shen Baiyi sit right next to her, but she also remained clingy even during the meal. Either she wanted to feed Zheng Yao, or she would open her mouth waiting for Zheng Yao to feed her.
Watching Shen Baiyi open her mouth once again waiting to be fed, Zheng Yao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry: “Are you a three-year-old?”
Shen Baiyi’s expression remained unchanged: “Whether I’m a three-year-old or not, doesn’t Sister know very well?”
Zheng Yao: “…”
Why does she have to say it so suggestively?
Picking up a bite of Shen Baiyi’s favorite dish, she fed it to her: “Be good.”
“Okay,” Shen Baiyi replied obediently as usual.
Whether she would be good later was a matter for later. Shen Baiyi curved her lips into a smile and quietly chewed the food Sister had personally fed her.
“Have you seen Zhuang Yang at all this past month?” Zheng Yao suddenly remembered this matter.
“Not much.”
Shen Baiyi shook her head. After all, the campus was so large, with so many people, and they weren’t in the same major, it was really hard to run into each other sometimes.
“Hmm.” Zheng Yao seemed thoughtful. “So, after staying in the school dorm for a month, are you planning to continue living in the dorm or move to the apartment?”
“I’ll live in the apartment,” Shen Baiyi said with a smile. “Let’s go check on Dahuang’s condition first, and then we can bring Dahuang over.”
Zheng Yao nodded. “Alright.”
The apartment was fully furnished, allowing Shen Baiyi to move in anytime. A motorcycle was also prepared for convenient commuting to school.
“If Dahuang isn’t feeling well, you can bring him back next week. I’ll help you buy some dog supplies then, so you can focus on your classes without worry.”
Her sister was always so considerate. Shen Baiyi sighed, how was she going to get through the upcoming week like this?
–
The last time Zheng Yao visited Dahuang, the dog had been extremely agitated, refusing to let her get close. But now, with Shen Baiyi here, he reverted to his usual fawning self, wagging his tail like a propeller.
Zheng Yao was speechless.
“He wasn’t like this when I came last time.”
“I know.” Shen Baiyi took Zheng Yao’s hand and said softly, “I only trust you, sister.”
Appearances could be deceiving, but her sister would never lie to her. Even if she did, there must be a good reason for it.
As long as her sister was willing to put thought into caring for her, why overthink things?
“He’s such a bootlicker.” Zheng Yao looked at Dahuang’s obsequious expression, both amused and exasperated. “Judging people and acting accordingly, how can a dog be so calculating?”
“That’s why he’s a dumb, ugly fool of a dog.” Shen Baiyi said with utmost seriousness. “Don’t bother with him, sister. I’ll ignore him too.”
Her childish tone made Zheng Yao laugh.
“Shen Baiyi, you’re such a three-year-old.”
She was unbearably cute. Zheng Yao couldn’t resist pinching her cheek.
After military training, Shen Baiyi had not only tanned but also gained firm muscles. The softness of her cheeks wasn’t as plump and comfortable to pinch as before.
Yet, somehow, Zheng Yao had developed a habit of pinching cheeks.
No, it wasn’t that she enjoyed pinching cheeks in general. She only enjoyed pinching Shen Baiyi’s cheeks.
But now even those cheeks had firmed up, losing their former softness.
“I’ll weigh you when we get back.” Zheng Yao suddenly remembered this matter.
Shen Baiyi fell silent for a moment, her voice dropping. “Is that necessary?”
“Of course it is.” Zheng Yao put on a stern face. “I need to see if you’ve lost weight.”
If she had, Zheng Yao would draft a “Shen Baiyi Weight-Gain Plan” to restore every lost pound.
Shen Baiyi’s pats on Dahuang grew absentminded.
She knew her own weight well she had indeed lost some recently.
Though not much, since she had also grown a little taller.
But what if?
What if she had lost a significant amount? Would her sister come stay with her then?
Once this thought took root, it spiraled out of control, spreading unease through her mind.
For the rest of the day, Shen Baiyi didn’t dare drink an extra sip of water, regretting having eaten so much earlier.
When they returned home and she stepped on the scale, her weight had barely changed, a loss of at most one and a half pounds.
Both of them frowned, deeply dissatisfied with the number.
“You need to eat more.” Zheng Yao said earnestly. “You must gain all that weight back.”
“Okay.”
–
That afternoon, Shen Baiyi insisted on taking the bus to school herself, firmly declining Zheng Yao’s offer to drive her.
Though Zheng Yao was still worried, she knew she couldn’t keep Shen Baiyi sheltered under her wing forever Shen Baiyi needed to learn independence eventually. So she didn’t insist further.
Of course, she remained unsettled the entire afternoon.
It wasn’t until Shen Baiyi messaged her after arriving at school that she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Well, Shen Baiyi was quite reliable after all it seemed there was nothing she couldn’t do.
She excelled at cooking, kissed skillfully, had all sorts of dazzling tricks in bed, and even stood at the front during the military training performance.
Ah, the more she thought about it, the more she found Shen Baiyi utterly endearing, what was she to do?
Shen Baiyi had just left, and she already missed her.
Heaving a heavy sigh, Zheng Yao opened the refrigerator, only to be caught off guard by the sight of it packed full of food.
Zheng Yao: “…”
When on earth had Shen Baiyi prepared all this?
Zheng Yao couldn’t help but rub her forehead. Who was the older sister here her or Shen Baiyi? Whether in daily life or in bed, Shen Baiyi always seemed to have the upper hand.
The more she thought about it, the more her head ached. She shook it off, deciding not to dwell on it too much.
What was the point of keeping score between lovers?
Fortunately, Zhou Meilin’s urgent manuscript reminder soon forced her to push these thoughts aside and focus on writing her novel.
This particular novel flowed quite naturally for her; the writing went smoothly, without even hitting a writer’s block.
As a result, the next two days passed much quicker than she’d expected, and her writing speed improved dramatically compared to before.
It also kept her from realizing that Shen Baiyi didn’t actually need to stay at school for a full week.
On the third day after Shen Baiyi left home, Zheng Yao came out of her room intending to heat up the food Shen Baiyi had prepared earlier and make do with that for dinner.
To her surprise, she saw Shen Baiyi changing shoes at the entrance.
Zheng Yao: ??!!
“Shen Baiyi?! Why are you back?!” Zheng Yao was utterly stunned.
Shen Baiyi, who had been sneaking around to surprise her sister, stood up. “If I said it’s because I missed you too much, would you be angry?”
Zheng Yao: ???
Was this kid asking for a scolding?
No sooner had the thought crossed her mind than Shen Baiyi pounced on her for a hug. Shen Baiyi carried the scent Zheng Yao loved, and Zheng Yao instinctively held her close, savoring the warmth and softness in her arms. Still, she hadn’t completely lost her senses.
She put on a stern face. “Shen Baiyi, don’t tell me you really skipped class to come back.”
Seeing this, Shen Baiyi lifted her head to give her a kiss. “What are you talking about? Did you forget, sister? The National Day holiday starts today. We had physical exams these past couple of days, and once they were over, we were on break. Then she sighed, pouting sadly. “It seems you don’t care about me at all, you didn’t even know about something this important.”
Zheng Yao: “…”
She really had forgotten about that.
Having graduated years ago and working freelance, when did she ever distinguish between weekdays and holidays?
Besides, she’d been busy writing her novel lately and genuinely hadn’t registered the date.
Her earlier questioning now felt awkward she’d truly shot herself in the foot.
Zheng Yao cleared her throat lightly. “Ahem, your sister’s been busy with work, that’s all. I really did forget.”
As she spoke, she reached for Shen Baiyi’s bag. “Why didn’t you text or call me? I could have picked you up.”
“Sister’s been busy with work, after all,” Shen Baiyi replied with a teasing smile, tossing the words right back at her.
Zheng Yao was silent for a few seconds before lowering her head to kiss her gently, coaxing, “Alright, alright, sister knows she was wrong. Don’t be mad at sister.”
Shen Baiyi’s eyes sparkled with even deeper amusement. It had only been a few days without kissing, yet she felt almost driven mad with longing for her sister. Holding onto her sister’s waist, she eagerly returned the kiss.
However, this kiss was destined not to last long. Before long, Bub and Yaoyao, the two cats, came meowing over.
Zheng Yao nudged her away, saying, “Alright, alright, Bub and Yaoyao are watching.”
Shen Baiyi didn’t understand, “They don’t even know what we’re doing.”
As she spoke, she kissed Zheng Yao again, “Don’t they kiss us like this too? To them, us kissing is completely normal.”
“Are you saying Bub and Yaoyao would also stick their tongues in my mouth and French kiss me?” Zheng Yao raised an eyebrow.
At that, Shen Baiyi quietly shut her mouth.
Still, Zheng Yao was genuinely happy about Shen Baiyi having a long break. Absence makes the heart grow fonder even though they had only been apart for a few days, the feeling was truly different.
