My Wife, So Fierce! - Chapter 89
“Sister?”
Shen Baiyi’s gaze deepened slightly, carrying a hint of confusion.
“Get in the car.”
Zheng Yao uncomfortably averted her gaze and quickly closed the car window. Everyone had gone to eat by now, and although there weren’t many people outside, that didn’t mean there was no one around.
She definitely didn’t want to appear on A University’s forum with Shen Baiyi.
The passenger door soon opened, and Shen Baiyi got into the car, her voice filled with excitement: “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming in advance!”
Zheng Yao suppressed her emotions, looking at her with restrained eyes.
After not seeing each other for over half a month, Shen Baiyi had gotten much darker, but she seemed to have grown taller too.
Dark and thin, like a pretty little monkey.
Noticing her sister’s gaze, Shen Baiyi’s expression stiffened, and she quickly turned her head away: “Don’t look at me, sister.”
She had gotten much darker recently and didn’t look as pretty as before.
“Why can’t I look at you?” Zheng Yao raised an eyebrow, remembering how Shen Baiyi hadn’t been making video calls with her lately. “You haven’t been making video calls with me recently. I was starting to think that when I came to visit this time, I’d find out you’ve gotten a new girlfriend.”
Hearing this, Shen Baiyi immediately became anxious: “What nonsense are you talking about, sister!”
She was somewhat angry and instinctively reached to open the car door, but her hand withdrew abruptly. Her sister rarely visited, and she couldn’t bear to just leave.
Turning back, she saw her sister still smiling, clearly deliberately teasing her. Her eyes darkened as she leaned over, pinched her sister’s chin, and kissed her again.
Zheng Yao instinctively leaned back, her entire body pressed against the car door. But Shen Baiyi followed forward, kissing her fiercely and dominantly.
It had been too long since they last kissed. Zheng Yao herself was addicted to the taste of the kiss and stopped struggling. She wrapped both arms around Shen Baiyi’s neck, responding to her without holding back.
In the quiet car, even the slightest sound seemed amplified countless times.
Licking, entwining, biting – the car was filled with their heavy breathing and ambiguous wet sounds.
Not only was Shen Baiyi physically stronger than her, but she also seemed to learn kissing techniques faster. Before long, Zheng Yao felt all her oxygen had been stolen by Shen Baiyi, and she was kissed until she felt dizzy. Yet Shen Baiyi seemed insatiable, still holding her tight.
Even the root of her tongue felt numb from being sucked.
Seeing that Shen Baiyi still showed no intention of letting go, Zheng Yao pushed her.
Shen Baiyi reluctantly sucked on her lips one more time before finally releasing her, the excitement still evident in her eyes: “Will you be staying here for a few days, sister?”
This was the first time they had been apart for so long, and she had been missing her sister terribly these past few days.
“Probably not.”
Zheng Yao shook her head. Coming to see Shen Baiyi had been an impulse. She hadn’t even put out evening food for the two little ones at home, so she absolutely had to return tonight.
“Okay.”
The excitement slowly faded from Shen Baiyi’s face. She clenched her fist, then forced a smile: “I’m already very happy that you came to see me, sister.”
Zheng Yao: “Has the school said when the break will be?”
Shen Baiyi shook her head: “They only said military training ends at the end of the month. There probably won’t be any holidays.”
“Okay.” Zheng Yao sighed. Her year had been luckier – they happened to have the Mid-Autumn Festival during their training, so they got a day off.
“We have a performance at the end of the month. Will you come watch, sister?”
“What is your class performing? Military boxing?” Zheng Yao became curious.
“It’s dagger drills,” Shen Baiyi said, curling her lips into a smile. “We all made our own daggers, it’s quite fun. Will you come watch that day, sis?”
Dagger drills?
A smile crept onto Zheng Yao’s face as she tried, and failed, to picture Shen Baiyi brandishing a dagger. She nodded immediately. “Sure.”
Seeing her agreement, Shen Baiyi’s smile widened. She held her sister’s hand, kneading it for a long while before suddenly remembering something. “Have you eaten yet, sis?”
“Not yet.”
She had driven here on impulse, how could she have remembered to eat?
“Perfect timing then,” Shen Baiyi brightened. “I know a cafeteria window that serves great food. I’ll take you there.”
“Alright.” Zheng Yao moved to get out of the car, but Shen Baiyi quickly pulled her back. Zheng Yao raised an eyebrow. “Want another kiss?”
Shen Baiyi’s lips curved. “I’d love to, but will you let me?”
Zheng Yao immediately fell silent.
The next second, Shen Baiyi’s hand reached out as if to tilt her chin for another kiss. Zheng Yao dodged backward. “No more kissing.”
At this, Shen Baiyi’s smile deepened. “No kissing.”
Her thumb brushed lightly over her sister’s lips as she sighed softly. “Your lipstick’s smudged from my kissing. What should we do?”
She sounded utterly innocent.
What else could they do?
Zheng Yao chuckled and tossed her purse over. “Whoever smudged it should fix it.”
She lifted her chin, waiting for Shen Baiyi’s response.
Shen Baiyi’s eyes darkened, fixed on her sister for a few seconds before obediently pulling out a lipstick and a tissue. She carefully wiped away the smudged lipstick.
Staring at the lips she had reddened and swollen, she couldn’t resist leaning in for another soft kiss.
“Sis, I missed you so much,” she murmured, eagerly hoping to hear her sister say she missed her too. She looked up. “What about you, sis? Did you miss me?”
Her beautiful eyes were filled with longing and anticipation Zheng Yao found it hard to refuse.
“What do you think?” Fine, this girl had been through a lot lately; speaking the truth to comfort her wouldn’t hurt. She replied calmly, “Do you really think I’m so bored that I’d drive all the way here for no reason?”
Slowly, light bloomed in Shen Baiyi’s eyes.
Seeing this, Zheng Yao smiled even more warmly. “Xiao Bai, I missed you so much I couldn’t sleep.”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Shen Baiyi threw herself into her arms again.
The emotions of youth were always so unrestrained, their overwhelming affection nearly drowning her.
She patted Shen Baiyi. “Hugging me so tight are you trying to strangle me?”
Shen Baiyi chuckled against her. “I’d never dare.”
As Shen Baiyi obediently loosened her hold, her face beaming, Zheng Yao couldn’t resist pinching her noticeably tanned cheek.
Whether it was the strong UV rays or Shen Baiyi neglecting the sunscreen advice, the girl had tanned significantly.
It wasn’t that she looked unattractive her features were striking, and no change in complexion could diminish that. But her demeanor had shifted noticeably. Zheng Yao felt much of her youthful innocence had faded, replaced by a more mature, sturdier presence. There was an unfamiliar edge to her movements now.
“Why are you looking at me like that, sis?” Shen Baiyi asked, puzzled, touching her own face. “Is there something on my face?”
“Nothing.”
Zheng Yao withdrew her gaze and followed Shen Baiyi out of the car.
The two of them arrived at the cafeteria again, which was much livelier than last time. Despite their long delay outside, the cafeteria was still packed with people, filled with noisy chatter everywhere.
“Sister, should we eat outside instead? Isn’t it too noisy here?” Shen Baiyi cautiously observed her sister’s expression.
She knew her sister preferred quiet.
Zheng Yao raised an eyebrow: “Xiao Bai, don’t forget I’ve been here for several years and have eaten in the cafeteria before.”
Although it took some getting used to at first, it wasn’t unbearable. College students all go through this. Though she hadn’t eaten in the cafeteria often, it wasn’t like she’d never experienced it.
After a brief moment of daze, Shen Baiyi curved her lips: “Oh, right.”
She had actually forgotten about that.
“Don’t overthink it, let’s eat.”
With that, Zheng Yao began eating the meal Shen Baiyi had gotten for her.
The taste was indeed good. Having skipped breakfast that morning, her appetite was instantly awakened. She nearly finished everything Shen Baiyi had brought her.
By the time they left the cafeteria, even her waistband felt a bit tighter.
“I’ll drive you back to the dorm,” Zheng Yao jingled her car keys. “I bought some things for you, I’ll bring them to your dorm later.”
“I don’t need anything. Didn’t you buy me lots of things when school started?” Shen Baiyi sighed. “Sister, you really don’t need to spend money on me anymore.”
“Can’t I even spend some money on my girlfriend?” Zheng Yao retorted calmly.
That one sentence successfully shut Shen Baiyi up.
Zheng Yao had bought quite a lot, even considering portions to share with Shen Baiyi’s roommates.
As she helped carry the things upstairs with Shen Baiyi, she didn’t forget to ask: “Have you made any good friends these past two weeks?”
Shen Baiyi shook her head.
After a pause, she added: “I’ve run into Zhuang Yang a few times.”
Zheng Yao’s attention was indeed diverted: “What a coincidence? You’re not even in the same major but you still bump into each other.”
“Yeah.”
Not just Zhuang Yang – she had also encountered an old “acquaintance” here.
It seemed to be a former high school classmate who, by coincidence, ended up in the same class. At first, the other person didn’t dare recognize her, just kept sneaking glances.
Sensing something unusual, Shen Baiyi stopped her after evening training one day. Only then did the other girl hesitantly ask if she still remembered her.
Naturally, Shen Baiyi didn’t remember her, but she recalled what her sister had told her back in their small hometown.
Listen more, discern more.
That time when her sister had someone investigate her, she had gained some understanding of what kind of person she used to be. According to her former personality, she would have likely responded with a friendly smile.
Unfortunately, the current her had no intention of maintaining her previous persona.
She believed the version of herself in these people’s memories wasn’t the real her anyway, and saw no need to put effort into pretending in front of former acquaintances. After all, given her family’s sudden misfortune, a drastic change in temperament was perfectly reasonable. So she responded coldly and directly that she didn’t recognize her.
But this instead made the other person more persistent, pouring out a whole basket of their previous interactions.
She even recounted their past conversations in detail, as if afraid Shen Baiyi wouldn’t remember. Though Shen Baiyi didn’t understand why this person was so determined to make her remember, she at least learned quite a bit about her own past.
She even vaguely began recalling some things herself.
The person she used to be was even worse than imagined, yet she didn’t find it distasteful, in fact, she somewhat admired her former self.
Maintaining a persona in front of so many people was exhausting.
“Is this your dorm?” Seeing Shen Baiyi still walking ahead, Zheng Yao grabbed her arm, suddenly doubting herself. “Did I remember wrong?”
Shen Baiyi snapped back to attention, her expression unchanged. “You remembered correctly, sister. I was just distracted.”
As she spoke, she opened the dormitory door.
The lively chatter inside ceased abruptly at the sound of the door opening, and everyone simultaneously turned to look at them.
“Oh! You’re Baiyi’s sister!” Short-haired Wang Zhen was the first to react.
“Hello everyone.” Zheng Yao greeted them.
The young women all seemed energetic and close-knit, but…
Zheng Yao frowned slightly, glancing at Shen Baiyi.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that there was an invisible barrier between Shen Baiyi and her roommates, making it clear their relationship wasn’t particularly close.
