My Wife, So Fierce! - Chapter 58
Zheng Yao had no objections to this.
The television at home was large, the environment was comfortable, they could eat whatever they wanted, and she didn’t have to worry about another awkward situation like last time.
Just thinking about those unrestrained, passionate kissing sounds made her scalp tingle. She’d even developed a shadow over movie theaters.
However, Shen Baiyi seemed to take their movie night quite seriously. Throughout the day, she busied herself preparing various snacks, all in preparation for their viewing.
Zheng Yao let her do as she pleased.
Zhuang Liulan sent a message saying that Zhuang Yang had performed exceptionally well in the exams, achieving the top provincial score. The entire Zhuang family was overjoyed, so Zhuang Liulan planned to take some time off to travel with Zhuang Yang.
She asked if Zheng Yao wanted to join them.
Some time ago, Zheng Yao had already made her stance clear to Zhuang Liulan, she had no romantic interest and didn’t want Zhuang Liulan wasting time on her.
But it was unclear whether Zhuang Liulan had understood her meaning, as her attitude toward Zheng Yao remained unchanged.
Though somewhat tempted by the idea, Zheng Yao ultimately declined the invitation.
If she wanted to travel, she could take Shen Baiyi herself. Knowing Zhuang Liulan’s feelings for her while having none in return, it wouldn’t be appropriate to travel together and risk giving the wrong impression.
Even after her polite refusal, Zhuang Liulan didn’t seem bothered and continued making conversation.
“Sister.”
Hearing Shen Baiyi’s voice so suddenly, Zheng Yao turned to find her standing behind at some unknown moment, her expression unreadable.
Zheng Yao instinctively flipped her phone over.
“What’s wrong?” Her tone carried a hint of fluster she didn’t notice herself.
Shen Baiyi gazed at her intently for a few seconds before looking away. “I came to ask if you’d like some fried crispy pork.”
“Yes.” Zheng Yao didn’t hesitate.
Shen Baiyi’s cooking skills were exceptional her fried pork was fragrant and delicious. After trying it once, Zheng Yao had been craving it, but she’d restrained herself out of pride and because Shen Baiyi had part-time work.
Now that Shen Baiyi mentioned it, her mouth instantly watered.
“Then could you help me in the kitchen, sister?” Shen Baiyi didn’t seem surprised, even smiling slightly.
“Of course.”
Leaving her phone on the coffee table, she followed Shen Baiyi into the kitchen. Seeing the array of ingredients, she couldn’t help rubbing her temples. “There are only two of us, we can’t possibly eat this much. In this heat, it’d be such a waste if it goes uneaten.”
“I want to make all the delicious things for you, sister.” Shen Baiyi’s eyes flickered, and she sighed softly. “There won’t be many chances to cook for you in the future.”
Zheng Yao froze at those words.
Right. Once Shen Baiyi started university, these meals would become rare.
An inexplicable melancholy settled over her.
Suppressing her emotions, she assisted Shen Baiyi with preparations. After some busy work, the aromatic fried pork was finally ready.
With so many snacks prepared, they skipped dinner entirely. After bathing, they settled on the sofa.
The moment eerie background music began playing, Zheng Yao realized Shen Baiyi had chosen a horror film.
“You!”
Before she could ask, Shen Baiyi gasped and clung tightly to her arm, pressing close.
The softness pressing against her arm was impossible to ignore. Zheng Yao’s entire body went rigid.
During this period, Shen Baiyi had gained some weight, her chest seeming fuller and quite substantial when pressed heavily against Zheng Yao.
The unlit living room added to the horror movie’s atmosphere, concealing their budding emotions in the darkness.
Zheng Yao felt she might be going mad.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have allowed Shen Baiyi to hold her while her own mind was filled with distracting thoughts.
As a terrifying scene flashed by, Shen Baiyi seemed to relax considerably and reached for some crispy fried meat to feed her.
Shen Baiyi had always seemed fond of feeding her in various ways.
Before Zheng Yao could react, she had already opened her mouth out of conditioned reflex. As she bit into the crispy meat, her lips inadvertently brushed against Shen Baiyi’s fingertips, causing her eyelashes to tremble instantly.
But Shen Baiyi didn’t seem to notice, withdrawing her hand before picking up another piece of crispy fried meat and putting it into her own mouth. Her gaze remained fixed on the screen throughout, appearing fully engrossed.
Zheng Yao took a deep breath and mustered her focus to watch the movie.
It was a standard Chinese horror film early scenes featured supernatural events defying scientific explanation, followed by the appearance of an exceptionally grotesque female ghost that frightened Shen Baiyi into constantly burrowing behind her.
By the end, Shen Baiyi was almost entirely seated in Zheng Yao’s lap.
Though not directly on her legs, the position was hardly any different.
“Shen Baiyi,” Zheng Yao said, torn between amusement and exasperation, “if you’re really too scared, we don’t have to watch. Let me get up first.”
But Shen Baiyi didn’t listen, instead tightening her arms around Zheng Yao’s waist. Shen Baiyi’s scent nearly overwhelmed all her senses.
Zheng Yao’s heart raced wildly.
This posture was far too intimate.
“Sister, I’m scared, but I still want to watch.”
Shen Baiyi’s voice carried a pitiful tone, yet her warm breath brushed against Zheng Yao’s neck with an assertive, invasive quality that unsettled her.
Scared yet eager to watch.
Zheng Yao couldn’t help but recall how Shen Baiyi had been both timid and enthusiastic at the amusement park.
Her courage was simply too small.
Zheng Yao had long intended to help her build courage but never acted on it now seemed as good an opportunity as any.
With that thought, she took another deep breath and forced herself to stay alert and continue watching.
Later, she had to admit it was indeed a quite frightening film, so much so that she felt the urge to turn on the lights.
Watching it in such a dark setting was truly testing one’s bravery.
Fortunately, the movie soon ended.
Just as she was about to get up and switch on the lights, Shen Baiyi pulled her back down, causing her to tumble into her embrace.
“Sister, don’t go. I’m scared.”
Shen Baiyi sounded utterly pitiful.
“I’m just going to turn on the lights,” Zheng Yao softened her voice to explain.
But Shen Baiyi refused to let go. Zheng Yao hadn’t expected her to be so timid, they couldn’t stay like this forever.
“How about I hold your hand, and we go together?” she compromised.
If Shen Baiyi still refused even this, then she truly had no other ideas.
Luckily, Shen Baiyi accepted the suggestion.
Hand in hand in the darkness, they could feel each other’s warm body heat and the dampness in their palms.
Despite the air conditioning, both their hands were slightly sweaty.
Before Zheng Yao could ponder this further, her eyes were suddenly covered, followed by a click as light flooded the room.
As if waiting for her eyes to adjust to the light, Shen Baiyi slowly withdrew the hand covering her eyes.
She turned her head and met Shen Baiyi’s gaze, but was left speechless, suddenly unsure of what to say.
In the end, she only flusteredly pulled her hand back and forced a calm tone: “Go to bed early tonight.”
After saying that, she quickly retreated to her room.
She was acting far too strangely.
It seemed she was attracted to the same sex, yet she felt nothing for anyone other than Shen Baiyi.
Could it be that she only liked Shen Baiyi, regardless of gender?
Remembering the videos Zhi Zhi had sent her a few days ago, she hesitated for a moment before finally clicking to download them.
Zheng Yao felt it was necessary to confirm something.
Leaning back against the bed, she pulled out her earphones and put them on.
This was Zheng Yao’s first time watching videos of this explicit nature. According to Zhi Zhi, these were carefully selected for having the most attractive leads not only were both protagonists good-looking, but the process was also quite intense.
Some were gentle like a spring breeze, while others were passionate and slightly rough.
She randomly clicked on one.
From the very beginning, she could tell this video fell into the passionate category. After all, the two leads started kissing as soon as they entered the room. Her earphones were too loud, causing the sounds of their fervent kisses and heavy breathing to explode in her ears.
Flustered, she quickly turned down the volume. Watching the scenes unfold, seeing actions and positions beyond her imagination, her face flushed bright red instantly.
The two on the screen continued, and as the visuals grew increasingly intense, she couldn’t help but imagine herself and Shen Baiyi in their place. A damp warmth even began to stir between her legs.
Realizing this, her expression changed abruptly, and she hurriedly tossed the tablet aside.
The next second, there was a knock on the door.
Immediately after, Shen Baiyi slowly peeked her head in from outside, her eyes lighting up the moment she saw Zheng Yao.
Before Zheng Yao could pick up the tablet from the floor, Shen Baiyi had already rushed over and thrown herself into her arms.
Zheng Yao’s breath hitched.
“Sister, I’m so scared sleeping alone,” Shen Baiyi murmured into her chest, her voice muffled yet carrying an undeniable insistence. “I want to sleep with you.”
Zheng Yao’s expression shifted instantly. “No.”
Shen Baiyi widened her eyes. “Why?!”
Zheng Yao was left speechless. How could she say she had ulterior motives toward her?
“I’m not used to having someone else in bed with me,” she offered weakly.
But Shen Baiyi responded quickly: “That’s a lie. Last time you slept in my room, you slept so soundly that you didn’t even wake up when I got out of bed.”
Zheng Yao: “…”
She had completely forgotten about that.
“Sister, I really am scared,” Shen Baiyi continued, sounding puzzled. “Aren’t you scared too?”
Zheng Yao didn’t answer.
She was a little scared, but not enough to need someone else in bed with her.
“How old are you?” she finally managed after a long pause. “Do you need someone to sleep with you like a three-year-old?”
Unexpectedly, Shen Baiyi showed no embarrassment and instead hugged her even tighter. “Then just treat me like a three-year-old.”
It reminded Zheng Yao of the time Shen Baiyi was drunk and called herself a dog, Zheng Yao’s personal puppy.
Now she was claiming to be a three-year-old.
Though it was hardly the right moment, Zheng Yao couldn’t help feeling somewhat amused. She raised her hand and unceremoniously pinched Shen Baiyi’s cheek: “Three-year-olds belong in kindergarten. Should you be going to kindergarten?”
Shen Baiyi remained silent, only staring fixedly at her.
It was a predatory gaze.
Zheng Yao started, instinctively releasing her grip.
But she couldn’t escape. Shen Baiyi wrapped her arms around both Zheng Yao and the blanket, making her inevitably recall the scenes from her dream.
A flicker of fear already rising in her heart, she scolded: “Shen Baiyi!”
“Sister.” Shen Baiyi responded reluctantly, releasing the person in her arms with apparent grievance as she climbed off the bed.
Her foot bumped against something, and looking down, she discovered her sister’s tablet had fallen on the floor.
Unable to resist bending down to pick it up, she said: “Sister, your…”
Her words cut off abruptly when her gaze fell upon the screen. She stared at the display in astonishment, then couldn’t help looking back at her sister.
Was her sister actually watching this?
