My Wife, So Fierce! - Chapter 56
Once this thought emerged, she couldn’t help but overthink.
“Xiao Bai.” She leaned against the counter, seemingly casual. “How did I get back last night?”
“You probably called a designated driver.” Shen Baiyi paused briefly before quickly responding, “Sister forgot the home passcode and fumbled at the door for a long time. I thought there was a burglar.”
Hearing this, Zheng Yao’s heart skipped a beat.
She probed cautiously, “Did you carry me inside last night?”
Shen Baiyi’s chopping motion hesitated for a few seconds before resuming normally. She nodded, “Sister said you couldn’t stand steadily. I was afraid you might fall, so I simply carried you in.”
She said it so naturally that Zheng Yao was stunned for a moment.
It seemed that for Shen Baiyi, carrying her wasn’t anything unusual.
Zheng Yao pressed her lips together, “You’re quite strong. You could carry me despite my weight.”
“Sister isn’t heavy.” As she spoke, Shen Baiyi came to her senses, “Not only can I carry you, I can even run while holding you. Would you like to try, sister?”
“…No need.”
Zheng Yao shook her head stiffly. She still remembered how Shen Baiyi had bounced her while holding her last night. She had firsthand experience of Shen Baiyi’s astonishing arm strength.
Standing nearby, she hesitated to speak.
She was beginning to feel uncertain again.
If this part was real, were all the things that happened later on the sofa real or not?
Shen Baiyi claimed she hadn’t acted drunk.
But kissing Shen Baiyi, having Shen Baiyi play with her there – was that her acting drunk? Comparatively, it seemed more like Shen Baiyi was the one acting drunk.
Realizing this, her scalp tingled again.
How could she possibly ask about such things?
Ask if she had pinned her down and kissed her yesterday? Ask if she had touched her breasts?
It was too embarrassing to put into words.
Just thinking about it made her feel awkward.
While her mind was filled with chaotic thoughts, Shen Baiyi had already finished preparing the filling and moved everything to the living room.
Someone grabbed her wrist.
Zheng Yao instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but just like on the sofa earlier, her strength was no match for the person before her. Her hand remained firmly grasped by Shen Baiyi.
Her heart skipped a beat, and an indescribable fear rose within her.
“Sister, wash your hands clean, and let’s make dumplings together.”
As she spoke, Shen Baiyi pulled her under the faucet. Cool water trickled down, and the grip on her wrist disappeared. Shen Baiyi was rubbing her hands, helping her wash them.
“I can wash them myself.” Zheng Yao reacted immediately, pulling her hand back, and couldn’t help adding, “Xiao Bai, don’t touch me without permission.”
“Is sister feeling shy?” Shen Baiyi raised an eyebrow.
Zheng Yao, “How could that be!”
She sounded somewhat annoyed, “I just don’t like others touching me.”
Liar.
Shen Baiyi refuted in her heart. Clearly, when she gently bit sister’s cherry yesterday, sister had enjoyed it very much.
Moreover, with her movements, sister would make sounds that made her blood race, making her wish she could strip sister completely bare and taste every part of her.
Sister was just being tsundere.
“Understood, sister.” She sighed quietly in her heart, but obediently didn’t argue aloud.
–
Zheng Yao had never made dumplings before, but Shen Baiyi seemed capable of everything, even able to make dumplings in fancy shapes.
Watching her effortlessly create plump, adorable dumplings, Zheng Yao couldn’t help asking, “How do you do that?”
“I’ll teach you, sister.”
Watching Shen Baiyi approach, pick up a dumpling wrapper and place it in her hand, then add some filling in the middle, immediately after, she pressed her whole body against her.
Zheng Yao instantly bristled.
But Shen Baiyi was already pressed against her from behind, her two arms encircling her, picking up her two fingers: “Sister, pinch the edges together like this first.”
Ignoring the things in her hands, she struggled a bit: “Let go first.”
Shen Baiyi’s face showed surprise: “What’s wrong?”
“Who teaches someone to wrap dumplings like this?” Zheng Yao once suspected Shen Baiyi was doing it on purpose.
It was too intimate!
But Shen Baiyi’s face was full of innocence: “I’ve never taught anyone else.”
Zheng Yao suddenly remembered the other’s amnesia.
After so long, Shen Baiyi seemed to have completely forgotten that period of memory.
She had almost forgotten what Shen Baiyi was like before losing her memory.
Speaking of which, Bai Yuanzhu and Shen Sanguang’s death anniversaries had passed several months ago. Without Shen Baiyi, no one would remember them. Their first death anniversaries probably went unvisited.
“Sister?”
Zheng Yao snapped back to reality, suppressing her thoughts. She cleared her throat lightly: “You do it beside me, I’ll follow along. No need for hands-on teaching.”
She didn’t really plan to learn anyway.
With Shen Baiyi around, she didn’t need to wrap dumplings herself. If she didn’t learn how to wrap dumplings, would Shen Baiyi not serve her cooked dumplings?
Even if Shen Baiyi weren’t here, she could order takeout or buy frozen ones, she wouldn’t lack for dumplings to eat.
Why go through all this trouble?
But Shen Baiyi was teaching so earnestly that if she didn’t pay attention, it would seem disrespectful. So she mustered some energy to learn.
Shen Baiyi’s hands were truly skillful.
Even though both were pinching, the dumpling wrappers in Shen Baiyi’s hands always formed beautiful shapes, while hers turned out strange-looking.
Suddenly, her thoughts drifted far away.
She abruptly remembered last night on the sofa, how the soft whiteness in front of her had looked when grasped in Shen Baiyi’s hands.
Shen Baiyi’s hands were different from hers not soft like ordinary girls’ hands at all, but rough, even somewhat abrasive when holding her.
Wait!
She quickly stopped her train of thought.
That was all a dream, why was she still recalling it?!
Her head suddenly ached. She evasively averted her gaze, speeding up her hand movements. Another dumpling took shape in her hands.
Unfortunately, though it resembled a dumpling and could hold the filling, it was far from attractive.
“Mine don’t look good,” she put the dumpling down. “How about you do it?”
Shen Baiyi didn’t speak, just gazed at her pitifully.
Zheng Yao: “…”
Really unbearable, why would someone have such beautiful eyes? When staring at people, they looked even more pitiful, making it impossible to refuse.
In the end, she couldn’t leave, so she had to continue wrapping dumplings facing Shen Baiyi.
But with both of them silently wrapping dumplings, it felt quite awkward. Remembering what she had been wanting to ask Shen Baiyi, she cleared her throat.
Shen Baiyi immediately looked up at her.
Zheng Yao’s face inexplicably felt warm. She shifted her gaze away, lowering her eyes, pretending to focus on wrapping dumplings, her tone becoming casual: “Xiao Bai, you’ve already graduated high school and are long an adult. You must have thought about dating or something, right?”
Shen Baiyi paused briefly before quickly returning to normal. She nodded candidly, “Of course.”
“Of course?” Zheng Yao abruptly looked up, not expecting this response from Shen Baiyi. She couldn’t believe it, “You want to date? Do you have someone you like? Since when? A high school classmate?”
“So many questions.” A faint smile appeared on Shen Baiyi’s face. “Is sister curious about my love life?”
“I’m worried you might be deceived,” Zheng Yao said sternly, her expression hardening.
But she hadn’t expected Shen Baiyi to appear utterly enchanted by this person, her words full of defense: “Don’t worry, sister. She wouldn’t deceive me.”
“You’re that certain?” Zheng Yao’s heart sank.
“Yes.” Shen Baiyi nodded decisively. “She treats me very well.”
Hearing this, Zheng Yao pressed her lips together. What she had long feared had finally happened. Shen Baiyi was too starved for affection, any small kindness shown to her would be etched in her heart, and she’d feel compelled to repay it tenfold.
Such girls were the easiest to sweet-talk away.
“Shen Baiyi,” her expression grew serious, “You can’t mistake kindness for love.”
“Sister, I know.” At the mention of that person, Shen Baiyi’s face even showed a hint of shyness. “I’m very sure now, I like her.”
Zheng Yao froze.
Instinctively lowering her gaze, she couldn’t bear to see Shen Baiyi’s radiant smile whenever that person was mentioned.
Just months ago, she had thought it didn’t matter whether Shen Baiyi liked boys or girls, whether she dated one person or two, Shen Baiyi had the freedom to love as she pleased.
But now, the thought of Shen Baiyi being sweet-talked away by someone else, possibly holding hands, embracing, kissing, or even becoming intimate with them, made her chest tighten unbearably.
“How can you be sure what you feel for her is love?” she asked earnestly.
Zheng Yao was ultimately anxious she seemed far too concerned.
Suppressing her smile but feeling immense joy inside, Shen Baiyi changed her mind and curved her eyes into a smile: “Alright, sister, actually I’m not entirely sure either. The only thing I’m certain of right now is that I like you the most, most, most.”
But Zheng Yao wasn’t someone who could be easily fooled. Recognizing Shen Baiyi’s attempt to evade the question, her expression remained stern: “Shen Baiyi, you only know how to sweet-talk me.”
None of her earlier questions had been properly answered.
“I’m not sweet-talking you.” Seeing her disbelief, Shen Baiyi put on an anxious expression and took the opportunity to step forward and hug her. Ignoring her wildly beating heart, she boldly planted a direct kiss on her sister’s cheek.
With a clear, resonant “mwah,” her eyes sparkled: “I like you the most, sister.”
This action completely shocked Zheng Yao, who never expected Shen Baiyi to kiss her so suddenly.
Stunned for a long moment, the burning sensation from Shen Baiyi’s lips seemed to linger on her cheek. After a while, she finally looked up in disbelief: “You kissed me?”
Now, when they were both fully conscious especially after Shen Baiyi had just confessed to liking someone else, why would she kiss her?!
“I like you, sister.” Shen Baiyi’s gaze didn’t waver in the slightest, spoken with utter conviction.
Zheng Yao’s heart felt like it was about to leap out of her chest: “Even if you like someone, you can’t just kiss people randomly.”
“But sister, you’ve kissed me before too,” Shen Baiyi said softly.
The moment these words were spoken, Zheng Yao broke out in a cold sweat: “Last night wasn’t a dream?!”
Seeing her drastic change in expression, Shen Baiyi innocently explained: “Last time I brought back a personalized autograph for you, sister, and you were so happy didn’t you kiss me then?”
Last time, Shen Baiyi had specifically gotten a personalized autograph from Chen Xingyue for her. In her overwhelming excitement, she had hugged Shen Baiyi’s head and planted a kiss on her.
So much time had passed that she had nearly forgotten about it.
Zheng Yao’s heart instantly settled back down.
But before she could completely relax, Shen Baiyi asked with feigned confusion: “What did sister mean by what you just said? Last night? Did you dream that I kissed you last night?”
Zheng Yao quickly denied it: “No!”
