My Wife, So Fierce! - Chapter 52
“No.” Zheng Yao couldn’t let her discover this little thought of hers and immediately denied it, deftly steering the conversation elsewhere. “How was work today?”
Shen Baiyi lowered her brows. “It was alright.”
Aside from the discomfort of seeing Dr. Zhuang having a meal with her sister, everything else was fine.
“Alright?” Zheng Yao mulled over the word, raising an eyebrow slightly. “Something unpleasant happened at work?”
Seeing her sister’s confident expression, Shen Baiyi feigned surprise. “How did you know?”
Pleased that she had guessed correctly, Zheng Yao lifted her chin slightly, suppressing the upward curve of her lips. “Never mind how. I just know.”
Shen Baiyi stared at her for a moment before finally looking away and lowering her head to say, “It wasn’t exactly unpleasant.”
It really wasn’t anything major, just a small matter. She hadn’t planned to mention it, but now that her sister was taking the time to chat with her, it made for a good topic.
The restaurant manager, finding her attractive, kept trying to film her with his phone.
By the end of the day, she had no idea how many videos of her had been posted on Douyin.
“Oh?” Zheng Yao’s expression shifted to one of mild surprise. “What’s your manager’s account name? I’ll go take a look!”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized her mistake. Turning her head, she saw Shen Baiyi’s aggrieved little glare.
She burst into laughter. “Are you mad?”
“Sister is siding with outsiders,” Shen Baiyi grumbled.
“How is that siding with outsiders?” Zheng Yao said seriously. “I just wanted to see how you look at work. Think about it, everyone else gets to see, but I don’t. Isn’t that unfair?”
Shen Baiyi remained sulky. “Sister always has so many excuses.”
Oh? Was she genuinely upset?
Zheng Yao cleared her throat and began coaxing her in earnest. “Alright, don’t be angry. Tomorrow, I’ll go talk to your manager. What’s the deal? Picking on our little Bai like that!”
Her righteous tone made Shen Baiyi linger on the phrase “our little Bai,” and all her grievances instantly melted away.
The corners of her lips curled up uncontrollably. She turned her head away, trying to muster some dignity, but youth betrayed her, her joy was too obvious in the smile that lit up her eyes. Still, she couldn’t resist calling her sister out. “Sister just knows how to sweet-talk me.”
“Of course not!” Zheng Yao naturally denied it. “Don’t worry. If you don’t like it, I’ll have a word with your boss tomorrow.”
This wasn’t just lip service, she genuinely meant it.
How could they keep filming Shen Baiyi every day?
She didn’t want Shen Baiyi to become an internet celebrity. With her looks, she’d undoubtedly gain popularity, but she was still so young. The inconveniences would be endless.
Fame brings trouble, and Zheng Yao didn’t want a bunch of strangers online scrutinizing Shen Baiyi’s every move.
And what if Shen Baiyi became famous and let it go to her head? At her age, her mindset wasn’t mature enough. A single misstep could lead her down the wrong path.
The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became, and she made a mental note to address it.
For now, though, she added, “Next time, don’t go to so much trouble. It’s a waste of your time, and I can’t finish it all. It pains me to see it.”
“Alright,” Shen Baiyi agreed. “I understand, Sister.”
She looked as docile as could be, a far cry from the domineering way she had held Zheng Yao immobile the night before.
The memory flashed through Zheng Yao’s mind unexpectedly, and her gaze flickered.
After returning home with Shen Baiyi, Zheng Yao casually remarked, “Do you remember what happened last night?”
Shen Baiyi paused mid-step.
She looked up, silently watching her sister who was staring intently at her, her breathing instantly growing softer.
Last night…
Which incident from last night did she mean?
She had done too many mischievous things, so when her sister came questioning, she actually couldn’t tell which specific event she was referring to.
After a moment’s consideration, she feigned confusion: “What thing?”
Putting on an expression of having completely forgotten.
Zheng Yao laughed in exasperation: “I kindly covered you with the blanket, yet you repaid kindness with enmity, pulling me to keep me from leaving, holding me while you slept all night, making me unable to get proper rest all evening!”
Hearing this, the faint tension in Shen Baiyi’s eyes slowly dissipated. She curved her lips: “It wasn’t repaying kindness with enmity. It’s because I like you, sister, and wanted to be with you.”
Zheng Yao raised an eyebrow and she thought she was the one with many excuses? Shen Baiyi clearly had even more!
Not to mention she always launched sweet-talk projectiles at her, saying such honeyed words that made Zheng Yao feel elated every time she heard them.
Still, she didn’t expose Shen Baiyi, only saying sternly: “Don’t let it happen again.”
But she never expected that when bedtime approached, Shen Baiyi would still be pestering her.
“Sister, sleep with me tonight.”
“Are you three years old?” Zheng Yao clicked her tongue. “Someone your age still needs others to sleep with you?”
“I just want to be with sister.” Shen Baiyi said pitifully, then asked, “Didn’t sister sleep very comfortably last night too?”
“Who said that?” Hearing this, Zheng Yao immediately became serious. “I clearly didn’t sleep well all night!”
Yeah, right.
She had slept straight through until morning, waking up completely refreshed.
But of course she couldn’t admit that now. Zheng Yao pushed Shen Baiyi’s face away with her hand: “Get lost, sleep by yourself.”
Unexpectedly, when she tried to withdraw her hand, she couldn’t, her hand was caught by Shen Baiyi’s.
Feeling the heat from Shen Baiyi’s palm, Zheng Yao’s heartbeat skipped several beats. Uncontrollably, she recalled how Shen Baiyi looked when she was full of aggression, and her eyes instantly darted away.
She applied some strength to her hand.
“Sister is so mean.”
Shen Baiyi seemed annoyed, suddenly lowering her head to bite Zheng Yao’s hand. Zheng Yao’s eyes widened slightly, and when she came to her senses, there was already a damp teeth mark on her hand.
“Shen Baiyi!” she said incredulously. “Are you a dog?! You actually bit me!”
“I’m not born in the year of the dog.” Shen Baiyi said with complete calm, even grinning at Zheng Yao. “I am a dog, sister’s little dog.”
Zheng Yao: “…”
She was speechless for a long moment.
Had there been too many people at the restaurant, all sorts coming and going, that Shen Baiyi had been corrupted so quickly?!
Her hand was still being held by Shen Baiyi.
After carefully observing Zheng Yao’s expression, Shen Baiyi wiped the moisture from her hand: “Alright, sister, don’t be angry. I’ll sleep by myself then.”
Zheng Yao: “…”
She felt choked up, unable to express her frustration, her mind in complete turmoil.
Pulling her hand back, she turned her head away: “Go back to your room and sleep.”
She seemed somewhat angry, but the ears exposed to Shen Baiyi’s view were red enough to drip blood.
So was sister actually shy?
Shen Baiyi suppressed the corner of her lips, nodding: “Goodnight, sister.”
She turned and returned to her room.
Sister didn’t have the habit of folding blankets, the quilt on her bed was still messily tangled together. She carefully got into bed, burying herself completely in the blankets.
So fragrant…
It was filled entirely with sister’s scent.
Unable to resist hugging the quilt tightly, she imagined holding her sister in her arms, her eyes darkening slightly. Her sister was fragrant and soft, and it felt truly comfortable to hold her.
She just didn’t know when the next opportunity would come.
How wonderful it would be to sleep holding her sister every day.
–
Regarding finding a girlfriend, Zheng Yao felt she needed to take it seriously.
If she didn’t prioritize it soon, she might really end up not sparing even Shen Baiyi, that young girl.
Lately, the way she looked at Shen Baiyi seemed increasingly inappropriate. She felt that if this continued, she would genuinely start having designs on Shen Baiyi.
But she had never been involved in this circle and had no idea how to find a girlfriend.
She couldn’t just walk down the street, spot someone attractive, and run up to ask if they wanted to date, could she?
People would probably think she was crazy.
Moreover, in this society, homosexuality wasn’t common, and those who accepted it were even fewer. She was used to being alone and doing as she pleased, not caring about others’ opinions, but that didn’t mean everyone felt the same way.
After much deliberation, it seemed Dr. Zhuang was the only option available.
Although Dr. Zhuang was excellent and they got along quite comfortably, she simply felt no romantic spark with her.
Zheng Yao began to feel a headache coming on.
She couldn’t help but wonder how Shen Baiyi’s classmate managed to change girlfriends so frequently.
Why was it so difficult when it came to herself?
After turning it over in her mind, she finally confided her troubles to an online friend from the 2D world.
They weren’t particularly close but occasionally chatted.
The key point was that this friend was a well-known CV in yuri audio dramas and, according to rumors, loved reading yuri literature.
Surely she would have some leads?
Her friend did not disappoint.
[Zhi Zhi Zhi’er Jiao]: Finding girls isn’t hard at all! Go to Qingchi Bar, they have all types of girls there!
[Guan Mu]: Qingchi Bar?
[Zhi Zhi Zhi’er Jiao]: My friend just invited me to go tomorrow night. Want to join us, Teacher Guan?
Seeing this message, Zheng Yao’s heart raced wildly.
But she had never been to a bar before and couldn’t help feeling nervous and apprehensive. What if she got drunk and someone took advantage of her?
She had never been drunk and didn’t know how she would behave.
But speaking of getting drunk.
Zheng Yao drifted into a daze, remembering when Shen Baiyi was drunk.
What if she got drunk and caused a scene, kissing anyone she caught?
[Zhi Zhi Zhi’er Jiao]: Come on, Teacher Guan! They’re all acquaintances, Nisha and Lisheng are coming too.
Nisha and Lisheng were also famous CVs, especially Lisheng, who had previously voiced one of Zheng Yao’s female protagonists.
Reassured, Zheng Yao agreed on a time.
However, going to a bar naturally meant staying out late, and she didn’t know how long they would be out. That meant she wouldn’t be able to pick up Shen Baiyi and bring her home.
So that evening, when she picked up Shen Baiyi, she instructed, “I have something to do tomorrow night. Take a taxi home.”
“What is Sister going to do?” Shen Baiyi frowned.
“Adult matters. Kids shouldn’t ask.” Zheng Yao certainly wouldn’t say she was going to a bar, it felt like she was corrupting a child.
Shen Baiyi lowered her eyes. “Alright.”
She would just ride her bike back herself then.
After a moment of silence, she couldn’t resist rebutting, “Sister, I’m not a child.””
Zheng Yao brushed her off, “Yes, yes, you’re the most mature.”
She had no intention of arguing with Shen Baiyi about whether she was a child or not. She knew perfectly well that Shen Baiyi was indeed no longer a child.
No child would press someone into a kiss while drunk.
The thought only deepened her discomfort.
Finding a girlfriend was indeed an urgent matter.
At seven o’clock the next evening, Zheng Yao arrived at the bar.
Though named “Clear Pond Bar,” which sounded fresh and delicate, stepping inside was an eye-opening experience for Zheng Yao.
The place was filled entirely with women. Instead of the expected noise and chaos, it felt more like a gathering of friends hanging out.
But Zheng Yao didn’t truly believe it was just a group of friends chatting and drinking many of the women were looking at her in ways that felt off.
Their gazes were aggressive, blatant, and impossible to ignore.
Before she could even adjust, they pulled her into a game.
It was a King’s Game, but all the commands carried sexual undertones. For example, two randomly chosen people had to French kiss, grope each other’s chests, or even grind against each other hip-to-hip.
If anyone refused, they had to drink a cocktail as a penalty.
