My Wife, So Fierce! - Chapter 47
But Zheng Yao couldn’t possibly miss it.
Seeing the other person with half their chest exposed, a completely frivolous expression on their face, and holding an equally scantily clad woman in their arms, Zheng Yao subtly furrowed her brows without showing any emotion.
This person looked about the same age as Shen Baiyi, yet their image was worlds apart. She almost immediately recalled the classmate Shen Baiyi had mentioned before.
Perhaps this was the very classmate who had tried to lead Shen Baiyi astray.
Lin Weiwei had long known that Shen Baiyi was adept at playing the obedient role in front of her “sister.” Now, shedding her previous timidity, she cast a meaningful glance at the beautiful woman beside Shen Baiyi and said with a laugh, “Shen Baiyi, here to watch a movie with your sister?”
Her tone was extremely flippant.
Zheng Yao’s eyes darkened slightly. Having been isolated from the outside world for so long, it had been ages since she encountered someone who could genuinely annoy her. In short, she hadn’t been losing her temper much lately.
But that didn’t mean her combat skills had diminished.
Just as she was about to speak, her hand was suddenly grabbed by Shen Baiyi. Zheng Yao turned in surprise to see Shen Baiyi speaking calmly, “Sister, don’t pay her any mind. She and I don’t get along.”
She had pointed it out so bluntly.
Lin Weiwei’s face instantly turned ugly.
Shen Baiyi’s words had completely humiliated her, showing no regard for her dignity.
At this, Zheng Yao raised an eyebrow slightly, a hint of amusement appearing between her brows, like an indulgent parent: “Right, I didn’t think you two would get along either.”
Continuing further would risk appearing like she was bullying a child. Seeing that it was about time, she picked up the popcorn and drinks with one hand, took Shen Baiyi’s hand with the other, and led her directly past the two, ignoring them completely.
But this was the most cutting move of all.
The other party had set up the stage for a confrontation, only to be utterly ignored, treated as if they weren’t even worth a glance. The dismissiveness was enough to make anyone fume with rage.
In a proper fight, there’s back-and-forth whether winner or loser, both sides can vent their frustrations to some extent. How could it be like this?
It made Lin Weiwei look like a complete clown.
She was hopping mad.
Her girlfriend didn’t know about her history with Shen Baiyi, but she could sense the awkward atmosphere. Clinging to Lin Weiwei’s arm, she complained, “What’s going on? Did you run into your ex and her new girlfriend? Why are you so angry?”
“What ex and new?”
Abruptly, Lin Weiwei cut herself off.
She finally realized what was off.
Shen Baiyi, the way Shen Baiyi looked at her “sister” was anything but simple!
Her expression instantly turned peculiar. Feeling as if she had stumbled upon a major secret of Shen Baiyi’s, she felt a surge of satisfaction: “Shen Baiyi, oh Shen Baiyi, you’ve got some nerve!”
Her suspicions were fully confirmed when she and her girlfriend entered the theater.
Shen Baiyi and her “sister” were there too.
She and her girlfriend had come to watch a dual-female-lead romance film meaning, it was a movie about same-sex love. Most of the audience consisted of female couples. What did it mean for Shen Baiyi to come with her “sister”?
What else could it mean?
Exactly what she was thinking!
Maybe Shen Baiyi and her “sister” weren’t even related by blood. If they weren’t related, why were they so intimate? And living together?
She’d heard that Shen Baiyi came from a poor family in some remote mountain village. Could it be that she was being kept by a wealthy woman?
Or perhaps they really are biological sisters, or some kind of relatives, that would make it even more intriguing.
Blood relatives fooling around together?
Even she wouldn’t dare do something like that.
The more she thought about it, the more excited she became. Watching Shen Baiyi sitting not far in front of her, Lin Weiwei could almost picture Shen Baiyi begging her to keep this secret in the future.
“Why are you still looking at them?” her girlfriend complained unhappily, wrapping her arms around Lin Weiwei’s neck and demanding a kiss.
Lin Weiwei chuckled softly, feeling thoroughly pleased, and went along with it. Soon the two were kissing.
The movie had already started, and the theater had grown quiet. Suddenly, the unmistakable sound of kissing reached her ears, and Zheng Yao froze completely.
She used to be unfamiliar with such sounds, but after experiencing it herself once, she’d become sensitive to them.
The noise seemed to echo right beside her ear. Her face darkened as she casually glanced toward Shen Baiyi.
Surprisingly, Shen Baiyi was watching the movie attentively.
Like a well-behaved student paying close attention in class, her eyes were fixed on the screen as if completely unaware of her surroundings.
Seeing her serene expression, the annoyance in Zheng Yao’s eyes gradually faded.
She could only focus on watching the movie seriously.
But the further the movie progressed, the more something felt off. Initially, Zheng Yao had thought it was a suspense film, but the more she watched, the less certain she became.
Especially when the two female leads got drunk and tumbled into bed together her mind went blank with shock.
The entire theater was filled with the protagonists’ heavy breathing.
Being a movie that had passed censorship, the scenes weren’t particularly explicit. For the old Zheng Yao, this would have been mere appetizer she’d seen far more graphic content. But that was before she had Shen Baiyi sitting beside her.
Whether it was because she still saw Shen Baiyi as a child, or because they themselves had shared similarly intimate moments not long ago, she now desperately wished she could turn off the movie immediately.
Her face burned fiercely, the heat unbearable.
Yet she didn’t have the courage to cover the eyes of the person beside her, that would be too obvious.
The movie continued, and for the first time in her life, she felt that love scenes could drag on for so long.
Kissing was bad enough, but they had to take it to the bed.
Going to bed was one thing, but then they stripped completely naked and started saying dirty things.
How did this even pass censorship?
Zheng Yao finally couldn’t take it anymore. Seeing that the two characters weren’t finishing anytime soon, she abruptly turned Shen Baiyi’s head toward her and covered her ears: “Children shouldn’t watch this.”
Her movements were rushed, almost as if she were cradling Shen Baiyi’s head against her chest. Oblivious to this, she focused solely on covering Shen Baiyi’s ears.
Shen Baiyi’s lips brushed against her collarbone, making her breath hitch slightly. In the darkness, Shen Baiyi’s eyes grew profound, though her tone remained innocent: “Sister, I’m not a child anymore.”
“Just because you’re not a child means you can watch?” Zheng Yao disliked Shen Baiyi’s response. Noticing her attempts to struggle free, she frowned and held her tighter, scolding in a low voice, “Stop moving!”
The person in her arms stilled.
But with Shen Baiyi quiet, the atmosphere grew even more awkward. The theater’s sound system was excellent, although the protagonists had finished their “exercise,” the post-coital intimacy was still profoundly uncomfortable to witness.
Yet no amount of secondhand embarrassment could compare to the awkwardness between her and Shen Baiyi right now.
Shen Baiyi’s scorching breath sprayed against her neck, making it impossible to ignore. Almost instinctively, she recalled that afternoon.
The burning breath, and the damp kisses.
Before she could push Shen Baiyi away, the other suddenly broke free on her own, her tone carrying helplessness: “Sister, it’s already over.”
Zheng Yao was momentarily stunned.
Shen Baiyi’s gaze was too frank, making Zheng Yao immediately feel a twinge of guilt.
What was she even thinking?!
Shen Baiyi saw her as a sister, so why was her mind filled with such messy thoughts?
Zheng Yao awkwardly averted her gaze, stiffly saying: “Pay attention to the movie.”
Completely forgetting that she was the one who had just told her not to look.
As for what happened in the movie afterward, Zheng Yao didn’t notice a single bit.
Her mind was a chaotic mess.
Perhaps it was because she hadn’t been in a relationship for too long.
She had been single for years; even if she had developed feelings for someone before, she never had the desire to date, and she had no interest in the same sex either.
But now, she was starting to waver.
She didn’t seem to resist the idea of being with someone of the same sex. In fact, after her intimate contact with Shen Baiyi, she had even had a few embarrassing dreams.
Even now, she would occasionally recall that afternoon.
This wasn’t normal.
Perhaps it was like being parched for too long and suddenly receiving moisture, she had become ravenous, to the point where she couldn’t even let go of Shen Baiyi, who was barely nineteen.
How beastly.
Zheng Yao gritted her teeth inwardly. This couldn’t go on.
Perhaps it was time for her to start dating.
If she liked the opposite sex, then she should find someone of the opposite sex. If she liked the same sex, then so be it liking was liking, and finding someone of the same sex wasn’t a problem either.
As soon as this thought crossed her mind, something pressed against her lips.
The sweet aroma of popcorn reached her, but Zheng Yao’s attention was entirely focused on the finger pressing against her lower lip.
Shen Baiyi’s voice pulled her attention back: “Sister, have some popcorn.”
Zheng Yao snapped back to reality, stiffly leaning back to avoid it: “I can get it myself.”
She remained tense, constantly on guard against Shen Baiyi’s actions. But until the movie ended, Shen Baiyi quietly watched the film without making any further moves.
Zheng Yao couldn’t help but pinch the bridge of her nose.
Was she being too sensitive? Overthinking things?
–
The two followed the crowd out of the theater. Zheng Yao had drunk too much soda and went to the restroom first.
Shen Baiyi waited outside. The moment she saw Lin Weiwei, her gaze turned cold.
This person was always haunting her.
” Shen Baiyi, let’s talk.”
Lin Weiwei said with a smile.
“I have nothing to say to you.” Shen Baiyi replied coldly.
“Is that so?” Lin Weiwei blinked. “I think we have a lot to talk about. Like sexual orientation, for example or maybe preferences?”
As she spoke, she covered her mouth and chuckled: ” Shen Baiyi, your sister is quite pretty, isn’t she?”
Shen Baiyi’s expression darkened completely.
She stared at Lin Weiwei.
Lin Weiwei shivered instinctively but didn’t back down. She straightened her posture: ” Shen Baiyi, don’t think I don’t know you didn’t even have a phone before. Your sister only bought you one after the college entrance exams, right?”
She had learned this during a class gathering.
The thought of being intimidated by Shen Baiyi before annoyed her.
Shen Baiyi’s expression remained unchanged: “So what?”
Her calm demeanor made Lin Weiwei pause for a moment before she clenched her fist and smiled, “Don’t think I don’t know you have those kinds of feelings for your sister, Shen Baiyi. If I tell your sister, do you think you two can still maintain such a good relationship as you do now?”
“What do you want?” Shen Baiyi raised an eyebrow.
Shen Baiyi’s reaction was completely beyond Lin Weiwei’s expectations. Suppressing the strangeness in her heart, she lifted her chin and said, “Be my girlfriend.”
Shen Baiyi laughed out loud.
Was she really daring enough to suggest that?
Without hesitation, she nodded, “Fine.”
Lin Weiwei froze, “What did you say?”
“I said it’s acceptable,” Shen Baiyi’s tone was faint as she looked at Lin Weiwei. “What, aren’t you happy?”
Lin Weiwei: “…”
Not at all, in fact, she found it a bit frightening.
But Shen Baiyi seemed to be serious, even taking out her phone, “Let’s exchange WeChat contacts.”
Lin Weiwei grew instantly wary, “What big move are you plotting now?”
“What big move could I possibly be plotting?” Shen Baiyi raised an eyebrow. “You’ve got me by the throat, making me do as you say. Isn’t that perfectly normal?”
She dared to agree but did Lin Weiwei dare to take her up on it?
