My Wife Became a Top Star After I Came Back from Quick Transmigration - Chapter 5
Lin Mo’s smile deepened, and she sighed in relief. At least the situation wasn’t as bad as she had imagined.
Meanwhile, Su Tiantian was still in shock. Her eyes darted from Su Qixi to Lin Mo, a look of utter confusion on her face. Noticing her gaze, Lin Mo turned to her and smiled. “Miss Su Tiantian, maybe you should skip going in today and let her have an easy time.”
Su Tiantian lowered her head, looking embarrassed. “Oh? Oh! Okay.”
Lin Mo replied, “Thank you. I should go in now.”
“Wait…” Su Tiantian called out. “Are you two…?”
The sky was growing dark, illuminated only by the faint glow of the streetlights. As autumn approached, the days were getting shorter. Moths and other small insects fluttered around the lights, drawn to their warmth.
“I’m pursuing her,” Lin Mo’s voice was a soft whisper carried by the wind.
Su Tiantian understood. She was a solo fan and a fansite owner, but in that moment, she said, “I’ll be your CP fan leader!”
Lin Mo gave a gentle smile. “I don’t know what that means, but it sounds impressive.” The yellow light of the streetlamp softened her features. In a polite and gentlemanly manner, she said, “Thank you for the trouble. I really must go.” Bidding farewell to Su Tiantian, Lin Mo finally walked toward Su Qixi.
As she passed Su Qixi, Lin Mo didn’t say anything, only giving her a small nod before entering the hotel with the other classmates.
Su Qixi took a deep breath. She looked at the horde of reporters in front of her. “Ask your questions, but don’t get too personal.”
The reporters’ eyes lit up. They felt their microphones had turned into swords, and they pushed forward, eager for answers to the questions that had been plaguing them.
“Last year, you took a break for a few months. Were you secretly married?”
Su Qixi: “That’s false. I went surfing.”
Reporter: “…Oh.”
“People say you and Zhang Mi don’t get along?”
Su Qixi: “We’ve traveled together.”
The reporter gasped. “Then why do your fans fight with each other online all the time?!”
“What’s your relationship with Lin Mo?”
Su Qixi paused, then said softly, “Classmates.”
Reporter: “…”
“Why did you label her as ‘Pig’?”
Su Qixi: “…We’re not close.”
Reporter: “…” Then why did you just protect her from us?
“People say you stole your new movie role from Lan Ju?”
Su Qixi: “I received the invitation two years ago.”
“Last year, a photo was taken of you and a man hugging in an underground parking lot…”
Su Qixi: “Is it possible that wasn’t me?”
Reporter: “…” Then why didn’t you deny it before?!
Xiong Jingjing signaled to her assistant, who promptly stepped in to block the reporters from asking more questions. Then, Xiong Jingjing stepped forward with a warm smile. “The interview is over. We’ve answered everything we can. It’s dark now, so I’ll be taking Qixi inside. Everyone, please go home and rest.”
Ignoring the reporters’ shouts, she led Su Qixi into the hotel.
To prevent any photographers from sneaking in, the hotel manager had arranged for them to use a large private room inside the building. As they walked through the lobby and down a corridor, Su Qixi turned to Xiong Jingjing. “You and the others should find a private room and order some food. Have the manager arrange a good meal for you.”
Xiong Jingjing looked at her with concern. “You’re going by yourself? Are you sure?”
Su Qixi’s lips twitched. “Of course, I am. Why wouldn’t I be?”
Xiong Jingjing glanced behind her and called out, “Miss Lin, hello.”
Su Qixi froze and quickly turned around, only to find no one there. She looked back at Xiong Jingjing, shocked and disbelieving. “You tricked me?”
Xiong Jingjing sighed. “Is this what you call being okay? The reporters might be blocked at the door, but you have over 40 classmates here! You never know who might film you and post it online.”
Su Qixi bit her lower lip, stubborn and firm. “Don’t worry, I am completely cold and ruthless toward her now. I won’t lose my composure.”
Xiong Jingjing: “…Do you really think I believe you?”
Su Qixi patted Xiong Jingjing on the shoulder. “I swear I won’t say one more word to her.”
Xiong Jingjing: “…Even less believable.”
With a look of righteousness, Su Qixi turned and followed the manager toward the private room, as if she were a hero marching into battle. The hotel’s luxurious lights illuminated her, making her appear majestic.
Xiong Jingjing sighed. This is not normal at all! Like a worried mother, she followed her assistant to a private room nearby.
When Lin Mo and Qin Ke’s group entered, many people were already seated. Their old homeroom teacher, Hao Tianhua, was there, his hair now graying at the temples, his face showing the signs of age. Other teachers from their senior year had also made time to attend.
Seeing the new students, Hao Tianhua greeted them with a kind smile. Lin Mo walked up to him and smiled. “Teacher Hao.” It wasn’t the first time she had seen him since she returned.
Hao Tianhua laughed heartily. “My last name is so fitting.”
The other teachers also laughed. “Isn’t it?”
Lin Mo joined in, “It’s true to your name!”
Hao Tianhua pointed at her. “Still just as quick-witted, aren’t you?”
Qin Ke called out, “Teacher, you haven’t forgotten about me, have you?”
Hao Tianhua looked at him and said, “You were the backbone of our class. How could I forget you?”
Other classmates came forward to chat and exchange pleasantries. Soon, everyone was seated. Only the seat to Lin Mo’s right remained empty.
A moment later, the door to the room opened again, and the manager respectfully said, “Please, come in.”
Su Qixi appeared in the doorway. As a celebrity, her looks were naturally enhanced. She was a stunning beauty, and with a little makeup, she shone so brightly that the luxurious lights seemed to dim in comparison. She nodded to the manager, and he closed the door as she entered.
Su Qixi casually scanned the room before walking over to greet her teachers. “Teacher Hao, Teacher Li, Teacher Wang… Long time no see.” Su Qixi’s voice was soft, often easy to miss.
Hao Tianhua looked at her and couldn’t help but sigh. “You’ve changed the most over the years.” Then he looked at Lin Mo. “You, on the other hand, have barely changed at all.”
Lin Mo smiled, and Su Qixi’s hands clenched at her sides. Because Lin Mo was still the same, it felt like nothing had changed. The past eight years had simply vanished.
Fortunately, no one noticed Su Qixi’s sudden silence. Hao Tianhua invited her to sit. “Have a seat!”
Su Qixi nodded and looked around, only to realize that the only open seat was next to Lin Mo. She saw a few other empty spots, but people insisted they were reserved for others who hadn’t arrived yet.
Lin Mo pulled out the chair next to her, looked at Su Qixi, and smiled gently. “Have a seat, Xiao Xi.”
Su Qixi froze, reminding herself that she was a cold and ruthless robot. She then said dismissively, “Why would I sit there?”
She felt she had made her point, and a small part of her was celebrating.
Lin Mo simply replied, “Because it’s the only empty seat.”
Su Qixi: “…”
She sat down coldly
