My Wife Became a Top Star After I Came Back from Quick Transmigration - Chapter 4
The summer sun sank behind the mountains, and the temperature slowly dropped. A wind blew in from the sea, cool and carrying a hint of a salty scent.
Lin Mo had changed into a white shirt and slacks, looking clean and sharp. She took a ride-sharing service to the hotel. Familiar sights flashed by outside the car window. The class reunion was being held in her hometown, and Lin Mo had rented a place nearby since her return.
The hotel wasn’t far, but when she arrived, she saw the entrance was completely blocked. With a top star attending the reunion, this was to be expected. The crowd consisted of both reporters and Su Qixi’s fans. Her former classmates, who had just arrived, were surrounded by reporters and were getting a very enthusiastic “welcome.” They were especially eager to find out who Miss Pig was.
“Excuse me, are you Miss Pig?” “Do you know Miss Pig?” “Are you familiar with the voice of Miss Pig from that day?” “Who was Su Qixi particularly close to in high school?”
Lin Mo quietly took a step back, not wanting to push her way through the crowd. As she was figuring out how to get in, a girl pushed her way out of the crowd. It was the girl with the bob haircut from the other day. She looked surprised to see Lin Mo and happily ran over. “I can’t believe you came all the way here! Are you here to find Miss Pig, too?”
Lin Mo: “…No.”
Even though she denied it, their two chance encounters made the girl, Su Tiantian, feel they were kindred spirits. She introduced herself: “I’m Su Tiantian. I came alone this time. Want to go in together?”
Lin Mo: “…Hello.”
Seeing that Lin Mo wasn’t very enthusiastic, Su Tiantian added, “I’m actually a small fansite owner for Xi Xi.”
Lin Mo was curious. “A fansite owner?”
Su Tiantian was surprised. “You don’t even know what a fansite owner is?”
Lin Mo nodded. Su Tiantian sighed. “No wonder you buy tickets from scalpers. But it seems we have fate on our side. Shh, I’ll sneak you in.”
Lin Mo was amused. “You have a way?”
Su Tiantian puffed out her chest proudly. “I’m a fansite owner! You can’t be one without a few tricks up your sleeve.”
Lin Mo glanced at the blocked entrance. Even if she pushed her way in, she’d be met with flashing cameras and microphones shoved in her face. She hesitated. Should I follow her to the back door?
Before she could think more, a boy surrounded by reporters sighed and shouted, “In our third year of high school, we were all focused on our college exams. No one paid attention to other people’s social lives. And no one in our class had the last name ‘Zhu’ (Pig).”
“Then who was her deskmate?” a reporter asked loudly.
The boy, Qin Ke, froze. A girl next to him instinctively answered, “It was Lin Mo, right?”
“That’s right, she and Lin Mo were very close back then,” another girl chimed in.
“Didn’t you know? Her dad kicked her out in high school, and Lin Mo was the one who helped her out.”
“Oh yeah. But I think they stopped talking after the exams, right?”
“Yeah! No one has Lin Mo’s contact info. We tried to find her for the class reunion a couple of years ago, but her phone number was disconnected.”
Disconnected?!
Qin Ke flinched and nudged the girls next to him. They immediately realized what they had just said and tried to laugh it off and run away. The reporters, with their sharp ears, immediately latched onto the key details. Disconnected phone number, close with Su Qixi. It all matched up! They weren’t about to let the girls get away. “So, is this Miss Lin Mo here today?” they shouted.
Lin Mo: “…” Definitely can’t go in through here now.
Su Tiantian glanced over at the reporters, saw the situation was at a stalemate again, and called to Lin Mo, “Let’s go! I’ll take you through the back. I got a staff badge. Xi Xi booked the whole hotel to keep out reporters and fans like us. You won’t get in without me…”
Just then, a familiar SUV pulled up to the hotel entrance. Su Qixi’s assistant got out and opened the back door. Su Qixi emerged from the car, wearing a white, lacy dress. The last rays of the setting sun made the white dress glow with a rosy hue, making Su Qixi look both pure and stunning.
Seeing Su Qixi, the reporters swarmed toward her, leaving Qin Ke and the other girls behind. The assistants, used to the chaos, quickly surrounded Su Qixi and hurried her inside. Xiong Jingjing, her manager, followed behind, shouting, “Everyone, please, no interviews! This is just a class reunion. Give them some space!”
The reporters shouted back, “Just two questions! What’s Su Qixi’s relationship with Miss Pig?”
“Right! Have you been in touch with Miss Pig recently?”
“Did you come with Miss Pig?”
The reporters’ questions were relentless, but Su Qixi remained calm and showed no intention of answering. Why would she tell the reporters and let the whole world know? No matter what they asked, Su Qixi just smiled and stayed silent.
Su Tiantian sighed. “It’s hard to get a good interview from Xi Xi. She barely answers fans’ questions, either.”
Lin Mo nodded. Just as she was about to say something, a hand clapped her on the shoulder. Deng Jingrou exclaimed happily, “Lin Mo! You haven’t gone in yet?”
Her voice wasn’t loud, but the noisy crowd seemed to freeze. Su Tiantian, standing next to Lin Mo, was stunned. She looked at Lin Mo with a confused expression.
Su Qixi, surrounded by reporters, stopped dead in her tracks. She slowly turned to face the direction of the voice.
The salty sea breeze swept through the air. The streetlights flickered on. A beautiful woman stood outside the crowd. It’s Lin Mo!
Su Qixi froze. The wind grew stronger, just like the one on the day of her college exams, rustling the tree branches loudly. It billowed her dress and whipped her hair over her face, covering her perfect makeup. She brushed her hair behind her ear and stared blankly at Lin Mo through the crowd.
The wind scattered flower petals from the bushes, creating a beautiful shower of blossoms. Lin Mo stood not far away, her gaze as gentle as it had always been, like a cool spring on a summer’s day. Time had not changed her; she was still the same Lin Mo.
Noticing Su Qixi, Lin Mo smiled.
In that instant, the world seemed to lose its color. Su Qixi’s heart pounded. The plant that had withered had come alive once again.
Su Qixi had always known that seeing Lin Mo again would not be easy. Years of an unrequited crush and eight years of separation had not erased the three years Lin Mo had spent in her life.
“Long time no see, Xiao Xi.”
The wind roared, and the trees rustled. Her voice was just as it had been, as if she had never left.
The reporters finally snapped out of their daze. They looked back and forth between Su Qixi and Lin Mo. Then, one of them broke away and rushed toward Lin Mo. “Are you Lin Mo?”
“She’s Lin Mo?”
Other reporters followed, swarming toward her. Qin Ke winced in sympathy. Even as an irrelevant person, he was having a terrible time with all the reporters. How could Lin Mo possibly admit her identity?
“I’ll give you an interview!” Just as the reporters were about to go crazy, Su Qixi suddenly spoke, interrupting their excitement.
Xiong Jingjing’s jaw dropped.
“Huh?” The reporters who were heading toward Lin Mo turned back to look at Su Qixi. What did she just say?
Su Qixi gave a faint smile, looked at the reporters in front of her, and said softly, “I will accept your interview. I will answer everything you ask.”
Xiong Jingjing was stunned.
The reporters who had been running toward Lin Mo instantly teleported back to Su Qixi. After all, Lin Mo was just an ordinary person, but Su Qixi said she would answer everything!
The fans screamed, and all the attention on Lin Mo instantly vanished.
