My Wife Became a Top Star After I Came Back from Quick Transmigration - Chapter 15
To the audience’s delight, the bus finally drove into the small town.
Lin Mo looked out the window and saw clusters of ancient buildings extending to the foot of a mountain.
The blue sky, white clouds, green mountains, clear water, and the white walls with black tiles looked like a beautiful oil painting with stunning color combinations.
The parking lot was located at the entrance of the town. The cars in the lot belonged to the town’s residents and local tourists.
Since the filming location hadn’t been revealed, there were no fans on-site.
After the bus parked, Xia Zhen organized everyone to get off.
The parking lot was not small and was paved with concrete. It had many parking spaces and was easy to access. Once they got off the bus, they saw the director of Home Inn, Feng Ye, and his camera crew waiting not far away.
When he saw them approaching, he held up a sign and shouted, “Welcome, my guests! It was a long journey. Thank you for your hard work!”
Qiu Mingyi couldn’t help but say, “If you knew we worked hard, why did you start filming today? I get motion sickness!”
Feng Ye laughed. “You used to fly three times a day for filming. Why are you getting motion sickness now? Of course, it was a lot to ask for you to start filming today. It’s mainly a live broadcast to build hype. The official broadcast will be tomorrow, so the audience will know where to watch it, right?”
Xia Zhen saw her chance and shouted, “Please follow us!!”
Feng Ye followed suit, “The show starts at 8 a.m. tomorrow!”
The guests: “…”
The number of followers on the live stream soared, and Feng Ye laughed, “Thank you, everyone! Thank you, my dear viewers! 666!”
Qiu Mingyi was shocked. “!!!” He’s a TV director, but he’s already so good at live broadcasting!
After gaining more followers, Feng Ye turned back to everyone and said, “Everyone must be tired. Let’s go to the inn!”
And so, Feng Ye led the eight guests toward their destination. Xia Zhen was in charge of interacting with the live stream fans, and Zhou Ping was in charge of the live broadcast.
From the town’s parking lot to the town’s entrance gate, it was only a five-minute walk. Feng Ye introduced the town, “This town is called Xia Hong Town. It’s one of the few ancient towns in our country with well-preserved ancient architecture. However, it hasn’t been developed into a tourist area yet, so it has only been visited by local tourists over the years.”
They listened to Feng Ye’s deep voice as he slowly introduced the town with a long history.
The path in front of them was paved with cobblestones, and the houses had white walls and black tiles. Every so often, there was a small bridge over a stream. The town was far from the city, nestled among the green mountains, and it was peaceful and carefree.
As they walked on the main path, the sound of their suitcases rolling over the cobblestones echoed, blending in with the town.
Every alley they passed felt like a woman in a cheongsam with an oiled paper umbrella had walked through it.
This was the kind of historical richness and passing of time that a big city couldn’t provide. This was also the kind of peace and quiet a big city couldn’t offer.
“Xia Hong Town has just been declared a national cultural heritage site, and this road is now part of the heritage. They’ve always protected it well and haven’t allowed cars to drive in. So, you won’t see any cars in this town.”
No wonder they had a huge parking lot at the entrance of the town. The guests were all impressed.
They were all curious and looked around. After a short walk, Feng Ye pointed to a small alley and said, “The first house you see when you enter from here is the inn we’ve arranged for you.”
The alley was narrow, bordered by two mottled white walls, and it curved upward.
Everyone had to walk in a single file. Lin Mo followed Su Qixi. Some tree branches extended over the walls, adding a touch of green to the already ink-wash-like scene.
Soon, they saw the inn Feng Ye was talking about. It was a wooden house with a sense of history. The wooden plaque above the entrance had the three characters for “Ink Guest House” boldly carved into it.
“Welcome to the Ink Guest House. Please place your luggage and come inside to the hall.”
Everyone placed their luggage at the entrance and followed the crew into the inn’s hall.
There were a few small wooden tables in the hall and a large oval table in the center. Everyone found a seat around the large table. The crew brought them cold drinks, and Lin Mo found a seat next to Su Qixi.
Su Qixi glanced at her. Lin Mo gave her a big smile, and Su Qixi didn’t say anything.
[Who can resist a smile like that?!]
On the table, there were snacks arranged by the crew and various drinks from sponsors. Jiang Lun and Qi Youshan were regulars on reality shows.
They each grabbed a bottle of drink, opened it, and took a sip. Then, they praised, “It’s delicious!!! I feel so energized after drinking this. What is this? Ah, isn’t this Feihe yogurt drink?”
Feng Ye gave them a thumbs-up and said, “Our sponsors must be very happy with your performance. You’ll get a raise!”
Everyone laughed, and the awkwardness between them seemed to fade a little.
Feng Ye then took out an iPad and said, “This iPad is for sending you tasks. We’ve prepared a room for each of you upstairs. This place is what you’ll be running for the next month. You can discuss the business model and content yourselves. The money you earn from the business will be for your own use.”
“From now on, the money you need for going out, eating, and traveling will be covered by the inn’s income.”
“Love is a precious thing. I know it wasn’t easy for you all to come here. I only hope that our show can point you in the right direction.”
“Home Inn will be your best stage. So, everyone, please cherish your time here!”
Maybe you’ll get back together.
Or maybe you’ll part ways for good.
If you reconcile, this show will be a precious memory for you. If you go your separate ways, this show will still be a precious memory, won’t it?
Everyone fell silent. They all looked in a certain direction, and yet they didn’t seem to be looking at anything. Were they invited for work? Or did they hold a glimmer of hope of getting back together?
Feng Ye had a smile on his face, and he said in a deep voice, as if he was tempting them, “Lunch and dinner today will be covered by the crew, and all the expenses before the grand opening will be on us. Once you start running the business, you’ll have to use your earnings for living expenses. After you finish eating today, you can go back to your rooms and rest. This is where today’s live broadcast ends. See you all tomorrow.”
[Aaaahhhh? That’s it?]
[No, won’t they be live for the whole day? The investors won’t be happy about this!!!]
[Is this how you treat me, a VIP user? No, I want to watch more!!!]
But no matter what the audience said, the show ended.
Since they were tired from the bus ride, everyone took their luggage upstairs after lunch and prepared to get a good night’s sleep.
The second floor of the inn was a hotel, but the crew had renovated it to look nicer and replaced all the supplies. Each room had its own bathroom and shower, which was very convenient for the guests.
Lin Mo followed Su Qixi upstairs. On the second floor, she saw that each wooden door had a name written on it.
Looking closer, she noticed that everyone was next door to their “CP.”
Lin Mo knew that many of the couples hyped up on the internet were fake. Some might seem like couples on the surface, but they might be trying to ruin each other behind the scenes. Some might be real couples with good relationships. But the entertainment industry is a business, and breaking up and stealing fans is a path almost every couple has to take in the end.
The show’s producers weren’t afraid of a little drama. They even dared to put them in adjacent rooms. They couldn’t possibly be trying to get them to climb over the wall to each other’s rooms in the middle of the night, could they?
Hmm?
Lin Mo: “I think this is a great idea.”
Su Qixi: “What are you mumbling to yourself?”
Lin Mo chuckled. “Nothing.”
Su Qixi: “???”
Everyone was tired, and though they were a little unhappy with the room arrangement, they didn’t say anything. They all went back to their rooms to unpack and get some rest.
Lin Mo had already rested on the bus, so she wasn’t tired anymore. She went out of her room alone, and the hallway was quiet. She walked to the end of the hall and found a large public balcony.
The balcony overlooked the hotel’s garden. On the lush green lawn, there was a hexagonal pavilion. There was a flowerbed full of beautiful flowers and a small artificial lake.
Lin Mo leaned against the railing, feeling the gentle breeze on her face. She suddenly remembered her dream from a few days ago, the memory of their first meeting that she would often think about in other worlds.
She remembered the first time they met, in the pouring rain, when she carried her all the way home.
After she put her on her bed, Su Qixi’s embarrassment and distress.
However, Lin Mo knew that since she had decided to help, she had to see it through. After all, with such severe injuries, leaving her now would be no different from sending her to her death.
So, after they got home, Lin Mo didn’t comfort Su Qixi. Her first words were, “Who did this?”
Su Qixi’s lips trembled in fear. This was a girl who had grown up with violence, both physically and mentally, and she was showing her true self to Lin Mo.
Lin Mo smiled, crouched down in front of her, looked at her, and said firmly, “I’ve brought you back, classmate. So, I will take care of you until the end.”
