- My 'White Moonlight' First Love Came Back, but I Don't Love her Anymore
- Chapter 26 - Yanyan, I’m a Little Cold. Can We Head into the Main Mansion Quicker?
Luo Yuening lowered her eyes. The corners of her tightly pursed lips began to curl upward uncontrollably as the frost in her eyes melted away, blooming like a sudden frost flower. It was breathtaking.
Standing behind Luo Yuening, Zhou Wanyan could not see her expression, but the content of the mission card flickered in her mind. Is it really going to be this intense right from the start?
Zhou Wanyan glanced toward Luo Yuening. With Luo Yuening’s head tilted down, she could only see her thick lashes and the elegant curve of her nose.
To set the scene, the staff member brought over the pastry. Zhou Wanyan accepted it with a smile, appearing calm on the surface, though her heart was already in a state of turmoil. The pastry on the plate was a square about three centimeters long.
Zhou Wanyan felt a momentary blackout of nervousness. “Ningning, should you do it, or should I?”
Luo Yuening, however, appeared remarkably composed, her voice chirpy. “I will do it.”
Hearing this, Zhou Wanyan placed one side of the pastry between her lips, leaving the other half exposed. She then sat back in her chair and gestured with her eyes that Luo Yuening could proceed.
Luo Yuening did not hesitate. She leaned down, several strands of her hair falling against her fair cheeks. Zhou Wanyan’s hands, resting on her lap, instinctively clenched into fists, and her breathing quickened. She remained motionless, her eyes darting around anxiously.
Luo Yuening whispered softly, “Yanyan, look at me.”
The voice was surprisingly tender. As if under a spell, Zhou Wanyan followed the instruction and raised her eyes to look at her. Her gentle gaze held a trace of nervousness, forming a sharp contrast to Luo Yuening’s smiling, fox-like eyes. The dynamic between them shifted invisibly in that moment.
Without warning, Luo Yuening’s hand brushed against Zhou Wanyan’s cheek. She leaned in further, her moist, cherry-red lips touching Zhou Wanyan’s cool ones for only a second before quickly pulling away.
Luo Yuening straightened up, swallowed the two-thirds of the pastry she had bitten off, and said in a voice only Zhou Wanyan could hear, “So sweet.”
Zhou Wanyan’s earlobes instantly turned red. She turned her head slightly, trying to use her hair to hide her shyness. She secretly replayed the scene in her mind; the sensation of Luo Yuening’s soft lips lingered persistently.
The scene was simply too aesthetically pleasing. Once the follow-up Producer snapped out of their daze, the mission was declared a success. Following the schedule, the two took a sightseeing car back to the starting point.
In the car, they sat close together. Their wind-blown hair intertwined, burgundy meeting black, creating an indescribable sense of connection. Along the way, Zhou Wanyan remained silent, staring out the other side and leaving her back to Luo Yuening.
A triumphant smile flashed in Luo Yuening’s eyes. So Yanyan likes this type of interaction. Could Yanyan be the submissive one? Then what should I do? Never mind, I will teach Yanyan what to do when the time comes.
Luo Yuening reached out to hook her arm through Zhou Wanyan’s, resting her head on Zhou Wanyan’s shoulder. Feeling the weight on her right shoulder, Zhou Wanyan looked back. The burgundy strands brushed against her neck, causing a slight tickling sensation. Seeing that Zhou Wanyan did not pull away, Luo Yuening became even more certain of her earlier theory.

- “Oh no, oh no! I feel like Luo-Luo is actually falling in love.”
-
- “The person above must be a new fan. Luo-Luo’s brand is falling for everyone she meets. Any woman she interacts with ends up in a dating rumor. Besides, this is a fake couple variety show; their actions are pretty normal.”
-
- “Luo-Luo has been in the industry for years and has never officially announced a partner.”
-
- “I bet she is just afraid of having too many girlfriends. Changing them every day, she would not have time to announce them all.”
-
- “Honestly, with Luo Yuening’s current status, does she really need to join a dating show for buzz? It is a bit beneath her. She should focus on acting instead of disappointing fans. And do not even get me started on that Zhou Wanyan; she has a girlfriend and still joins a dating show? Is her girlfriend not afraid they will actually fall for each other?”
Zhou Wanyan and Luo Yuening were the second group to arrive back at the starting point. Once the third group, Liao Baiwei and singer Qi Yun, arrived, the director, Lin Qi, announced the next part of the program.
Standing across from them with a megaphone, Lin Qi said, “It is dark now. Next, we will head to a banquet so everyone can get to know each other briefly. After that, we will choose rooms.”
“The rooms are divided into three styles: Romantic Encounter, Mysterious Allure, and Warm Home. Each style is worlds apart, so please choose carefully.”
“As for the room selection, we will play a small game after dinner to determine the order of priority.”
Since getting off the car, Liao Baiwei’s eyes had not left Zhou Wanyan for a second. After Lin Qi finished speaking, she quietly approached Zhou Wanyan as the group walked toward the main mansion.
Liao Baiwei’s voice was sweet and light. “Hey, Zhou Wanyan, did the process of finding Teacher Luo go smoothly?”
Zhou Wanyan moved slightly closer to Luo Yuening. This single action instantly dissipated the displeasure Luo Yuening felt due to Liao Baiwei’s familiarity with Zhou Wanyan.
“It was quite smooth,” Zhou Wanyan replied.
“What was your mission?”
“Is everyone’s mission different?”
“They should be. Mine was a three-minute princess carry.”
“Then they are indeed different. Mine was eating a pastry.”
“Eating a pastry? That sounds quite simple. You just finish it. Between you and Teacher Luo, who ate it?”
Zhou Wanyan was silent. She realized they were not even on the same page.
“Zhou Wanyan, which room do you want to choose?”
“Probably the Warm Home style.”
“Why?”
“Because it sounds cozy.” She could not exactly say it was because it sounded like the only normal one.
Luo Yuening wore six-centimeter stilettos, the flash of red on the soles signifying passion and confidence. Although she was looking straight ahead, her peripheral vision kept drifting toward the two women chatting happily. She was sulking internally. If people did not know better, they would think you two are the couple.
At that moment, Qi Yun, who was on the other side of Liao Baiwei, looked over. Her eyes met Zhou Wanyan’s.
Zhou Wanyan said, “Long time no see, Sister Qi Yun.”
Liao Baiwei asked curiously, “You two know each other?”
Simultaneously, Luo Yuening’s head tilted slightly toward Zhou Wanyan, appearing very interested in her response.
Zhou Wanyan replied, “I collaborated with Sister Qi Yun once before.”
Qi Yun added, “A song I released recently was composed by Wanyan.”
Liao Baiwei nodded slightly. “So that is how it is. Then Yanyan must be a great singer too?”
Zhou Wanyan said, “It is alright, I can manage.”
Liao Baiwei’s eyes crinkled into a smile. “Your speaking voice is so pleasant, like a warm spring breeze brushing past the ears. I am sure your singing must be beautiful.”
Liao Baiwei spoke with such sincerity that her eyes sparkled. This left Zhou Wanyan a bit flustered, a flash of embarrassment crossing her face. “I think your voice is very lovely too, crisp and pleasant.”
Liao Baiwei’s eyes filled with surprise. “Really?”
Zhou Wanyan smiled. “Really.”
Luo Yuening finally could not hold back any longer. She said softly, “Yanyan, I am a little cold. Can we head into the main mansion quicker?”
Hearing this, Zhou Wanyan’s attention was completely captured by Luo Yuening. She looked at her with wide-eyed shock, silently asking if that cloyingly sweet voice really just came out of her.
Zhou Wanyan hesitated before nodding. “Okay.”
As soon as she spoke, Luo Yuening took Zhou Wanyan’s hand and led her quickly toward the mansion. Her high heels moved as effortlessly as flats, each step light yet firm.
Luo Yuening’s cold hand was enveloped by the warmth of Zhou Wanyan’s palm. A sudden, strange sensation spread through both their hearts. Both chose to remain silent, and neither let go of the other’s hand.
Before Liao Baiwei could react, the two had already walked quite a distance away. Her brows knitted together, and a flicker of displeasure flashed in her eyes for a moment before she regained her composure. She also reached out to take Qi Yun’s arm and said sweetly, “Yun-yun, let us pick up the pace too.”
Qi Yun gave a doting smile. “Sure.”
Walking behind them, Xia He and Li Jia clearly disliked each other, only maintaining a surface-level harmony. After all, they were both under contract and did not dare to openly breach it.
Xia He said with a fake smile, “Babe, are you cold?”
Li Jia shot her a glance, still brooding over the morning’s incident. “You cannot even recognize your own girlfriend. Do not ask me if I am cold.”
Xia He rolled her eyes internally. She was so hard to please. “Babe, I was sick the past few days and my head was a bit dizzy, that is why I made a mistake. I promise nothing like that will happen again.”
Li Jia reluctantly said, “Fine, I will forgive you this once. I am cold.” The last sentence was heavy with implication.
Xia He realized she had dug her own grave. She did not expect Li Jia to actually take her up on it; she was just being polite. She was freezing too. Xia He pretended to be considerate, deliberately slowing down the process of taking off her coat, hoping Li Jia would tell her she did not need it. But Li Jia stood her ground silently, as if determined to have it.
Left with no choice, Xia He took off her coat and personally draped it over Li Jia. Gusts of cold wind hit her, making her shiver.
Xia He forced a smile. “Babe, are you still cold?”
The corners of Li Jia’s mouth curled up. Not wanting to be outdone in the affection department, she said, “I am not cold anymore, babe.”
Xia He’s lips were pale. “That is good.”
She suppressed her shivering and continued her performance. Today was not a total loss; she had made an appearance in front of Luo Yuening. She would just have to make herself more noticeable in the future. As for Zhou Wanyan, having just left Yan Jiuqing and so easily hooking up with Luo Yuening, it seemed all the good luck in the world had fallen into her lap.
The long table was set with exquisite dishes under a magnificent crystal chandelier. Every corner was decorated with vibrant roses, and the red wine in the crystal glasses emitted an alluring glow.
Li Jia, 24 years old, a new-generation flowery starlet.
Liao Baiwei, 22 years old, rose to fame through a campus drama.
Qi Yun, 30 years old, debuted 15 years ago with top-tier vocal skills.
After the meal, the rooms would be assigned according to the mission instructions.
Mission Card: Heartbeat Challenge. The group with the highest heart rate will choose their room first, and so on.
