My Upperclassman Wants me to confess my feelings - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Counter-Attack
After military training began, the freshman dorms left and right were filled with wails of misery. However, Xia Xiaohan grew increasingly energetic, and her appetite actually decreased somewhat. She looked… well, even thinner.
Cheng Wu was curious about Xiaohan’s military training life, so during dinner one day, she accompanied her to the canteen.
“Xiaohan, aren’t you tired at all?” Cheng Wu scanned the freshmen in camouflage uniforms passing by; most had exhausted expressions.
Xia Xiaohan looked at the sky and spoke truthfully: “Solving problems is more tiring. Military training is just standing in formation, running, or target practice; you don’t have to use your brain.”
Cheng Wu was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter.
After getting their food and sitting down, Xia Xiaohan suddenly looked up and asked, “Senior, besides me, there’s another girl in the class next door. She asked me the same question this morning. I gave her the same answer I just gave you, but she clutched her heart and said she didn’t want to talk to me anymore. Did I say something wrong?”
After listening seriously, Cheng Wu finally couldn’t help but laugh. She reached out and tapped Xiaohan’s forehead: “Don’t worry, she was joking.”
Xia Xiaohan finally breathed a sigh of relief: “That’s good then.”
The next day, Xia Xiaohan went to military training happily. There were few girls in the Math Department; Xia Xiaohan was one, and Bei Wenxin, who was currently surrounded by a crowd, was another.
“Xiaohan!” Bei Wenxin waved when she saw her.
Unlike Xia Xiaohan, Bei Wenxin had a classic “loli face with a devilish body.” Her curves were practically a hormone-manufacturing machine; standing next to her, Xia Xiaohan looked no different from the boys around them. Bei Wenxin had an easy-going personality and smiled at everyone she met. In just a few days, almost everyone in the Math Department, freshmen and seniors alike, knew her.
Bei Wenxin stepped forward to take Xiaohan’s arm and asked worriedly, “I was joking yesterday, you didn’t take it seriously, did you?”
Xia Xiaohan gave a shy smile: “No.”
“That’s good.” Bei Wenxin was finally at ease. After chatting for a bit, she brought up another matter: “I’m going to interview for the University Student Union tonight. Can you go with me?”
Having finished her preview of Mathematical Analysis, Xia Xiaohan nodded: “Sure.”
…
When the day’s training ended, the two returned to their respective dorms to shower and change. When Xia Xiaohan came out of the bathroom, only Ningning was there, clutching snacks and watching a TV drama.
She walked over and asked, “Where are Senior Zhao Ru and Senior Cheng Wu?”
“Today is the Student Union recruitment. They are both presidents of the Department Student Union, so naturally, they’re busy,” Ningning said without looking back. While eating, she suddenly turned her head: “Do you want some… potato chips?”
Ningning’s gaze suddenly froze. Xia Xiaohan was wearing a pale yellow dress; her hair was half-dry from washing and draped down, and her curled lashes still carried water droplets. She was truly pure and moving!
Ningning quickly set down her snacks and walked behind Xiaohan: “Are you going on a date?”
“No, I’m going to the University Student Union.” Xia Xiaohan checked the time, grabbed her bag, hurriedly greeted Ningning, and left.
Coming to her senses, Ningning ran back for her phone, rushed outside the dorm door, and snapped a photo of Xia Xiaohan’s jogging figure. Looking at the photo, Ningning was overwhelmed by the cuteness and held her face in her hands. Back in the room, she quickly sent the photo to their group chat of four.
Soon, Cheng Wu messaged: Where is Xiaohan going? Ningning replied quickly: She said she’s going to the University Student Union.
Cheng Wu’s eyes narrowed slightly. The University Student Union President was Li Ya, and the person in charge of interviewing newcomers was Ye Sisi.
Back at the dorm, Ningning also realized the situation and quickly sent a private message to Cheng Wu, asking what to do if Ye Sisi continued to make things difficult for Xiaohan. Cheng Wu told Ningning not to worry; she would look after her.
Cheng Wu stepped outside and made a call: “Xiaohan, you want to join the University Student Union?”
“It’s not me, it’s Wenxin. She wants to join, I’m just accompanying her.” Xia Xiaohan glanced at the person beside her.
Cheng Wu felt slightly relieved. She gave a few instructions and hung up. After a pause, she still felt uneasy. After thinking it over, she sent a message to Sun Wenze: Xiaohan is accompanying Bei Wenxin to an interview. Pay attention, and don’t let outsiders bully her.
…
At the University Student Union, Sun Wenze was flirting with a girl coming for an interview; his phone was on the table behind him. He didn’t pay attention when it chimed.
Ye Sisi happened to be sitting behind the table Sun Wenze was leaning on. Hearing the sound, she looked up a message from Cheng Wu? Xiaohan?
She originally wanted to remind Sun Wenze, but Cheng Wu’s message concerned her. She grabbed the phone she had known Sun Wenze’s password for a long time—and as she swiped it open, her palm tightened.
Who was Cheng Wu guarding against? Did Cheng Wu know she was the one who posted that thread? Ye Sisi let out a cold laugh, deleted the message, and put the phone back as if nothing had happened. However, this scene was witnessed by a new freshman waiting for an interview.
Finding Bei Wenxin’s resume, Ye Sisi smiled insincerely. The juniors in the Math Department sure are good-looking.
Suddenly, Sun Wenze stared at the door. Two beauties had arrived. One in a red dress, one in yellow; standing there, they were a landscape that could not be ignored. He walked over involuntarily.
“Hi, two little juniors.” Sun Wenze was wearing a flashy pink shirt today and had styled his hair specifically. He posed as he greeted them.
Xia Xiaohan blinked and took a while to recognize him: “Are you Senior Sun?”
That familiar voice… Sun Wenze looked closer and almost jumped back in fright: “Wh—why is it you?”
Xia Xiaohan smiled: “I’m accompanying Wenxin for her interview.”
“You know this senior?” Bei Wenxin was surprised. In her impression, Xia Xiaohan preferred discussing problem-solving logic with the class overachievers.
That gentle voice, that loli-like appearance, and more importantly, that proud figure under the red dress… Sun Wenze couldn’t help but swallow. A top-tier beauty! He immediately tossed his head, trying to show off his charm. He didn’t dare touch Xia Xiaohan, but he definitely couldn’t let this red-dressed beauty go. She was exactly his taste.
Ye Sisi walked over with a half-smile and pressed down on Sun Wenze’s shoulder: “Vice President, you should head to the judges’ seats.”
“Yes, yes, yes.” Sun Wenze quickly straightened up and winked at Bei Wenxin.
After they left, Bei Wenxin gripped Xiaohan’s hand: “Th—this senior…”
Xia Xiaohan was also a bit surprised; she seemed to understand why Senior Cheng Wu told her to stay away from him. So, she said to Bei Wenxin: “Stay away from him in the future.”
…
When it was Bei Wenxin’s turn, her self-introduction was fluent and brilliant.
Sun Wenze asked the first question: “May I ask Junior Bei, what do you usually like to eat most?” Bei Wenxin smiled shyly: “I like anything delicious.”
He wanted to ask more, but Ye Sisi cut him off: “Then may I ask Student Bei Wenxin, why do you want to join the University Student Union?” This was a very standard question. Bei Wenxin had prepared for it and answered with great emotion.
“Good!” Sun Wenze was the first to applaud. The other male judge also tapped his hands in agreement.
Ye Sisi, however, said with a cold face: “You are too hypocritical! You are not suitable for our Student Union!”
Bei Wenxin froze, becoming nervous for the first time. However, her psychological quality was excellent, and she still asked with a smile: “May I ask what Minister Ye thinks I said poorly?”
“Everything was poor!” Ye Sisi was determined not to let Bei Wenxin pass. Seeing Xia Xiaohan looking so nervous she almost stood up, Ye Sisi became even more unrestrained in her harsh criticism of Bei Wenxin.
Finally, Xia Xiaohan couldn’t listen anymore. She stood up and interrupted her: “Senior! What you’re saying is wrong!”
She strode up and gripped Bei Wenxin’s hand: “You say you’ve heard these words too many times, but her answer was carefully prepared for several days. If you don’t believe it, go search online! You say her dress is inappropriate, but your recruitment poster said ‘free dress’ and that shirts weren’t required! You say she’s exploiting the judges’ preferences, but Wenxin didn’t even know Senior Sun before! The person who knows him is me! Besides, Senior Sun likes good-looking peopleis it a crime for Wenxin to be beautiful?”
Ye Sisi was trembling with rage; she really didn’t know Xia Xiaohan was so sharp-tongued! She stood up abruptly: “Get out! The University Student Union does not welcome you! We will not accept you!”
“Can you make the decision for the entire Student Union?” Bei Wenxin had calmed down by now, realizing Ye Sisi was intentionally targeting her.
Sun Wenze, seeing the situation was getting out of hand, stood up to mediate: “Sisi, don’t get excited. They are juniors; if you reject them, you should be more tactful.” By saying this, he was taking a side—he was standing with Ye Sisi.
But then, a voice suddenly came from the back door: “If you’re going to reject someone, you should find a suitable reason. Is this the level of the University Student Union?”
Everyone turned around as Cheng Wu walked in. Ye Sisi sneered, not expecting Cheng Wu to walk directly to her side.
Cheng Wu leaned forward slightly, getting close to her ear, and whispered: “It’s fine to hate me, but it’s not okay to touch my friends! I think I’ll post this Student Union interview on the forum for everyone to see.”
Ye Sisi went stiff. How did Cheng Wu know!
Cheng Wu turned around, her back to Ye Sisi as she raised the phone in her hand. With a thud, Ye Sisi collapsed back into her chair.
The front door pushed open, and Li Ya hurried in. She comforted Ye Sisi, then turned to Cheng Wu: “What exactly did you say to Sisi?”
Cheng Wu stopped, her eyes glancing backward: “I’m just giving her a taste of her own medicine. Whatever she did, I will do. This time, I’ll post it using my own account.”
In a flash of realization, Li Ya understood it was the post from last time! That matter was indeed Sisi’s fault, but Sisi was currently applying for the “Outstanding Student Leader” honor. If this matter went public, Sisi would likely lose that honor.
Li Ya quickly caught up to Cheng Wu: “I’ll apologize for her. Can we let this matter go?”
“She has to apologize personally, and she has to apologize to Xiaohan and Bei Wenxin.” Cheng Wu looked at the two on the stage.
Ye Sisi reacted quickly. She didn’t hesitate to come over and bow to Cheng Wu, Xiaohan, and Wenxin one by one. She truly knew when to fold.
Cheng Wu looked at Ye Sisi with disdain and put away her phone. Without needing a word, Xia Xiaohan pulled Bei Wenxin down from the stage.
Li Ya, wanting to save face, said gently to Bei Wenxin: “You can come for the re-examination.”
Having witnessed the ugliness of the University Student Union, Bei Wenxin had lost all interest. She nodded apologetically: “Thank you for your kindness, President, but I might not be suitable here.”
Cheng Wu smiled lightly; Xiaohan’s friend was quite decisive. Before leaving, Cheng Wu turned to Sun Wenze: “Did you see the message?”
“What message?” Sun Wenze looked completely bewildered.
Better that you didn’t see it. Cheng Wu didn’t mind and led Xiaohan and Bei Wenxin away.
