My Upperclassman Wants me to confess my feelings - Chapter 18
Chapter 18: Liking
Xia Xiaohan lay on the bed, her arms bent into a V-shape, palms upward, held down and sealed at the wrists by Cheng Wu.
Black hair cascaded like a waterfall, veiling her face. The cold-toned fluorescent light filtered through the gaps, casting flickering shadows of light and dark.
Their eyes met, breaths intertwining. Xia Xiaohan gazed into Cheng Wu’s eyes, which were as dark as ink, and her flat chest began to heave with her uneven breathing.
Her heart beat like a war drum, yet her voice was as thin as a mosquito’s hum: “Sen… Senior.”
Cheng Wu suddenly raised her right hand, using her index finger to seal Xia Xiaohan’s lips, letting out an almost imperceptible “Shh.”
Viewed from beneath the bed, Cheng Wu was practically pressed against Xia Xiaohan. Ning Ning’s curiosity felt like a cat clawing at glass.
She kept tiptoeing, trying to get a clearer look.
But Cheng Wu’s long hair blocked both their faces; she couldn’t see a thing.
Zhao Ru, feeling helpless, turned and dragged Ning Ning toward the balcony: “Hurry up, wash up and go to sleep.”
Hearing the sounds from below the bed, Xia Xiaohan finally came to her senses. She struggled gently and whispered, “Senior, you should rest well. Let… let me out.”
Cheng Wu was exhausted, but the shy girl inches away had already stirred her heart.
The image of Xiaohan approaching her earlier flashed through her mind—that extremely innocent face filled with the purest “liking,” walking toward her step by step.
Cheng Wu never denied her own charm, but in that moment, her heart had skipped a beat.
“Xiaohan, I’m so tired.” Cheng Wu’s strength was spent; her supporting arms finally buckled.
Her body went limp and fell sideways, yet she didn’t want to avoid Xia Xiaohan’s face.
Seeing the Senior’s lips about to press against her own, Xia Xiaohan instinctively turned her face away.
The warm softness ultimately landed on her right cheek.
Xia Xiaohan felt a slight relief, but deep in her heart, a surge of regret immediately followed.
I shouldn’t have moved just now.
Lying on her side, Cheng Wu took in all of Xia Xiaohan’s micro-expressions. A satisfied smile played at the corners of her mouth before she fell into a deep sleep.
Warm breaths hit her ear. Xia Xiaohan touched her burning cheek, quickly lowered her head to get up, and carefully moved off the bed.
On the balcony, Ning Ning kept looking back, only to see Xia Xiaohan covering her face, back turned to them, hurriedly rushing out of the dormitory.
The early winter wind already carried a chill, but it still couldn’t disperse the heat in Xia Xiaohan’s heart.
Standing by the window at the end of the hallway, the breeze blew through her scattered strands of hair.
Looking up slightly at the night sky, Xia Xiaohan pressed a hand over her heart.
This feeling was so strange.
But—
She liked it so much!
Xia Xiaohan raised her hand to touch the spot the Senior had kissed, unable to stop herself from covering her face and giggling secretly.
…
The next morning, Cheng Wu felt her body was heavy and groggy.
Xia Xiaohan’s voice reached her ears: “Senior, are you awake? I bought you some millet porridge.”
Cheng Wu slowly opened her eyes. She felt drained and tired, but she forced herself to sit up.
Looking down, she met Xia Xiaohan’s bright, sparkling round eyes.
Her thoughts stirred as she remembered the events of the previous night.
Cheng Wu sat for a moment to catch her breath, then turned to climb down the bed. When she reached for the millet porridge, she intentionally let her fingers slide gently across the back of Xia Xiaohan’s hand. “Thank you, Xiaohan.”
Unlike the previous touch, the Senior’s fingertips were warm this time.
But this only made Xia Xiaohan’s heart race like a panicked deer. Joyful and shy, she hid her hand behind her back and stared obliquely at the floor, whispering, “Senior doesn’t need to be so polite with me. Before, it was always the Senior taking care of me. Now that I can take care of you, I’m very happy.”
Setting down the porridge, Cheng Wu picked out the clothes she was going to wear today. Before heading to the bathroom, she gave Xia Xiaohan a deliberate look.
A moment after she went in, Cheng Wu’s voice came from the bathroom: “Xiaohan, come help me for a second. I can’t get the eye of the hook to line up.”
Xia Xiaohan only heard that the Senior needed help and didn’t stop to think about what needed “lining up.” She ran straight to the bathroom door.
She froze the moment she saw Cheng Wu’s smooth, jade-like back.
“Xiaohan, help me hook this.” Cheng Wu held the straps on both sides behind her back, looking back at the petrified Xia Xiaohan.
At this moment, Xia Xiaohan felt her palms sweating: The Senior wants me to help her hook HER BRA!
She averted her eyes and walked in with difficulty, taking the straps from Cheng Wu’s hands.
With her back to Xia Xiaohan, Cheng Wu slowly revealed a devious smile. She could clearly feel the hands on her back trembling slightly.
Xia Xiaohan widened her eyes, staring at the straps, trying her hardest not to look elsewhere.
Just put the hook into the eye.
She wanted to hook it quickly and be done with it, but the more she hurried, the more she missed.
The hook and the eye were clearly so close!
Xia Xiaohan was sweating profusely from anxiety, her hands shaking more and more, her heart growing increasingly agitated: Why won’t it line up!
Cheng Wu didn’t need to turn around to know what Xia Xiaohan looked like right now.
Feeling a bit of pity, Cheng Wu reached back and grasped both of Xia Xiaohan’s hands: “You tell me the position, I’ll hook it.”
“Okay.” Xia Xiaohan tried to withdraw her hands, but Cheng Wu had no intention of letting go.
“To the left or to the right?”
“A little bit to the right.”
Holding Xia Xiaohan’s right hand, Cheng Wu moved it slightly to the right.
Seeing the hook pass the eye, Xia Xiaohan hurriedly said, “Too far, a little bit back to the left.”
Their left hands moved together toward the left.
“Got it!”
As soon as Xia Xiaohan finished speaking, Cheng Wu hooked it inward. Feeling the tension in the straps, she knew it was done.
Only then did Cheng Wu let go. She asked Xiaohan again, “Can you hook the bottom one now?”
Xia Xiaohan nodded frantically: “I can, I can.”
This time she was much calmer and hooked the strap quickly.
Once finished, Xia Xiaohan immediately turned her back, took a deep breath, blurted out “Done,” and fled the scene.
Cheng Wu looked back helplessly, whispering quietly to herself: “What should I do… I’m really starting to like you more and more…”
Coming out after dressing, Cheng Wu happened to see the dorm door closing, with a faint glimpse of a figure fleeing in panic.
Inside, Cheng Wu found a sticky note on her wardrobe: Senior, I have some problems to discuss with Ding Ming ahead of time, so I’m leaving first! Remember to drink the porridge before going to class.
Looking at the handwriting on the note, Cheng Wu reached out to touch it, unconsciously smiling again.
From the first neat character to the last scribbled one, she could instantly imagine the way Xiaohan transitioned from calm to utter panic.
…
In the Mathematical Analysis class, for the first time, Xia Xiaohan was restless, her gaze gradually becoming vacant.
It wasn’t until the teacher walked up and tapped on her desk that Xia Xiaohan snapped back in alarm. She stood up immediately, wanting to explain but not knowing how, and could only lower her head in shame.
“Are you feeling unwell?” The teacher liked Xia Xiaohan very much, knowing she was always diligent.
For her to space out like this, there was likely another reason.
Xia Xiaohan stammered: “N-no.”
In the back row, Ding Ming poked the sleeping Yang Xing next to him, then stood up to explain for Xia Xiaohan: “Teacher, Xiaohan is worried about our classmate Bei Wenxin.”
“I see.” The teacher adjusted his glasses and told Xia Xiaohan to sit down, while comforting her, “Don’t worry too much, her injury will heal.”
After sitting down, Xia Xiaohan looked dejected, patting her own head. How could I lose my focus like that!
