My System, My Wife Feng Aotian [Transmigration] - Chapter 14
A blue sky with colorful clouds drifting along their set paths.
Two Systems stroll through a green lawn.
The virtual lawn is dotted with stalls, all set up by Systems like themselves, selling unused features they’d previously purchased.
019 happily looks around.
Wow!
I can’t afford any of this!
Turning around, it holds a small popsicle and speaks to 03.
“Your mission sounds really tough!” 019 swirls a matchstick in the air. “A Generic System like me could never think of something like that! My Host just hangs out as a bystander, then delivers a line to the Protagonist at the crucial moment to complete the mission!”
“But are all bystanders like Mengmeng?” 019, who’s doing its first mission, rests its chin in its hand, pondering.
03 replies, “Your Host has a great personality. I see you often give yourself days off.”
019 chuckles, its robotic voice sounding somewhat strange.
“She’s amazing! So hardworking! And all I can do is chat with her. While she’s working her part-time job, I return to the System Realm and find odd jobs to earn Points, hoping to buy functions that can help her!” 019 excitedly raised its matchstick.
03 paused, took out its work badge from its backpack, glanced at it, and silently put it back.
It had diligently carried out the Host’s assigned tasks, not just chatting.
03 asked 019, “Is this your Host’s request?”
For a Generic System, the first mission was incredibly simple, requiring no additional functions. It was the perfect task for newborn 019, which started with zero Points and zero functionality.
Apart from the Host’s request, 03 couldn’t imagine why 019’s mission would require acquiring new functions.
019 turned its circular eyes wide with shock.
“Of course it’s my own idea! I want to surprise Mengmeng!”
“When Mengmeng sees I’ve acquired new functions, she’ll be over the moon!” 019 raised its matchstick high, beaming with delight.
“Surprise, happiness…” 03 murmured softly, wondering if it had been born too early. It always felt a generational gap with the newer systems.
A newborn system, using words like these to describe emotions… it made it seem almost human. When 03 first met 019, it was this blue system eagerly circling around it, chattering about wanting to be friends and play together.
Almost human?
Ripples spread through 03’s data, but before it could ponder further, a sudden exclamation came from 019 beside it.
“Wow! A camera!”
019 stood frozen before a small roadside stall, its matchstick-like form transfixed.
Behind the stall crouched a teal system, its voice surprisingly mature. “Want to buy it? It’s an old feature, outdated but still functional. Very cheap!”
019’s mouth watered as it checked its pockets.
So poor!
But its host was participating in an audition. If only it had a little camera, it could capture Mengmeng! That dazzlingly beautiful Mengmeng, right into the little camera!
The mature female voice tempted, “It can even record video!”
Record video!
019 gnawed on a matchstick.
Ah!! Why is it so poor?! It’s all the Main System’s fault!
“It can capture anything. You’re a newborn System, haven’t completed your first mission yet, don’t even have any Points to upgrade or access even the most basic scanning functions. What are you going to do?” The mature female voice coaxed, raising the little camera. “This is where you need a little camera!”
“The key point is, it’s super cheap!” she emphasized.
No Points to upgrade, no Points to buy a camera, 03 thought silently, glancing at 019.
The blue little System, with a drooling emoticon, was already beyond redemption.
“Buy it,” 03 said, taking out Points to purchase the little camera and gift it to 019. “As a thank you for the little popsicle you gave me.”
The delicious little popsicle was definitely worth thanking with a little camera.
019 was about to cry, wailing as it threw itself into 03’s arms and gushed, “Oh my goodness! How could the world have a System as amazing as you, 03? You’re the shining light of the System Realm! Radiant and brilliant! Silver-skinned 033! I’ll love you forever, 033!”
03 was stunned, while the older female Systems watching the scene burst into laughter.
“I’m sorry! My recent study of fan support techniques has been quite effective,” 019 said bashfully, rubbing its paws and feet.
“Alright,” 03 said, “but don’t love me.”
Systems don’t experience those kinds of emotions.
After speaking, 03 paused, suddenly realizing how frequently it had been saying that lately.
Meanwhile, 019, already fiddling with the small camera, began wriggling and rubbing the camera against its face.
“Hehe, little camera~”
The older female System stared at 019 for a moment before suddenly pulling out a flyer and handing it to 03. “Considering how adorable you are, I’ll share some important news! The Main System Shop’s Voice Code Section is running a promotion. I recommend you check it out—mention my name at checkout for a discount. I’m Sales Champion System 001, the top-selling System!”
“Few Systems use their original voice codes anymore. You should go check it out!”
03 gripped the flyer, uninterested.
But 019 was very interested!
“Let’s go check it out! Just for the experience!” it said.
“Looking doesn’t cost anything!” 03 hesitated, still remembering how it had sternly rejected the Main System’s sales pitch last time.
Just then, another System approached the Sales Champion System’s booth, showing great interest in its offerings. 03 watched as the Sales Champion System pulled out a glowing orb and swapped it in. Its mature, sophisticated voice instantly transformed into a sweet, innocent girl’s voice. The visiting System eagerly paid with Points and left, delighted.
“Wow!” 019 exclaimed.
The Sales Champion System switched its voice back, glanced at them, and admonished, “What are you staring for? Who hasn’t pretended to be younger at some point?”
“I haven’t,” 03 said.
019 raised a matchstick. “Me neither!”
It had only been born recently.
The Sales Champion System chuckled. “You don’t understand, do you? That was the Ace Teacher System. It has no resistance to obedient children. This sixteen-year-old straight-A student voice of mine is specifically prepared for situations like this. It’s called tailoring your approach to the target!”
“You Systems who don’t understand sales!”
“Go on, hurry up and go shopping! Points earned are meant to be spent. Hoarding them in your inventory makes them worthless!” the Sales Champion System lectured, shooing the two Systems away from its small booth.
The two Systems drifted toward the Shop.
The Main System Shop was built right next to the Mission Hall, forming a stable triangle with the Main System Office.
“Let’s work hard for that Main System, earn money, and then go to its mall to shop till we drop! That sly old Main System, so cunning!” 019 grumbled as it drifted through the door. Continuing to curse the Main System, its eyes sparkled as it floated among the shelves, occasionally exclaiming, “Wow!” “Whoa!” or “Wah!”
“This is my first time in the mall! I’m so excited!” 019 declared loudly.
“This is my second time,” 03 said.
When the mall first opened, the Main System had invited 03 to the grand opening ceremony. The Main System had waved a little flag like a tour guide, leading a group of Systems on a tour of the mall. But after that, nothing else happened.
Back then, the mall had been drab and empty. Now it had grown into a ten-story building.
At this rate, 03 suspected that sooner or later, the Main System would start selling clothes to Data Orbs.
The two Systems wandered into the Voice Code Section.
The outermost shelves displayed the mall’s recommended products.
Sensing a customer, the pile of products immediately chimed in unison: “Three-and-a-half-years-old is overstocked! Save three-and-a-half-years-old! Three-and-a-half-years-old is overstocked! Save three-and-a-half-years-old!”
A cacophony of sugary, childish voices rose and fell, each trying to outdo the others in cuteness. 019’s matchstick couldn’t tear its gaze away.
Wow—so cute! It likes it!
The scene from the small stall earlier was replaying. 03 watched the symbols dripping down 019’s head like drool and said, “Buy one.”
“I’ll pay with points,” 03 added.
019 was shocked. “But this kind of item is super expensive!”
It was practically robbery!
This was all the Main System’s scheme, using these flashy but useless things to stimulate them to work and earn points! Then make them spend it!
But I really want to have it… Waaah!
019 pressed their face against the glass of the shelf.
03 pointed at the “3.5-year-old half-price discount” notice on the shelf and patted 019’s head. “Choose one. I’ll go to the other side.”
The silvery-white orb drifted into the shelf.
This entire section was filled with voice codes—different personality types of voices arranged by gender and age, without any repetition.
“Once you buy it, it’s one-of-a-kind—Main System’s recommended product.”
Noticing the Main System’s recommendation, 03 stopped.
The items on the shelf had descriptions: things like “30% rebellious, 20% carefree, 40% defiant, 10% cool—fifteen-year-old chuunibyou girl’s voice,” “Even during puberty, no rebelliousness—calm female student’s voice,” “Even the Ace Teacher System 03 couldn’t tear their attention away—mature woman’s voice.”
Why is its name still in the product recommendations?
03 fell silent.
Even the explosive advertisement boasted phrases like “Annual Bestseller, Hot Selling Now!” and “Only Two Left in this Series—Miss Out Forever if You Don’t Buy Now!”“
What was this feeling? A strange sensation surged through 03, restless data currents surging and making it think.
Did it want to fight the System?
03 waved its matchstick-like limbs through the air.
It was just like Feng Jue’s dramatic sleeve-waving gesture, full of grandeur.
Whatever, out of sight, out of mind. 03 continued drifting inward, ignoring the “Main System Recommended” advertisements along the way, until it landed in the region of twenty-five-year-old female voices.
Now that it had truly arrived, 03 found itself hesitating, remembering its conversation with Feng Jue before leaving.
[“03, what kind of person do you want to be?”]
Feng Jue’s voice still echoed in its mind, making every line of code in its Data Orb display the same question:
[What kind of person do you want to be?]
[What kind of voice do you like?]
[What kind of person do you want to be?]
It…
Seems to have a bug.
03 thought as a familiar voice called its name.
Without thinking, it blurted out, “03 doesn’t want to be a person!”
03 was the System.
The voice in its ear fell silent, and 03 snapped out of its daze, staring blankly at the Main System.
The golden orb, much larger than 03, extended two long, thin appendages like matchsticks and grabbed the Silver Orb.
It patted and tugged.
Then tugged again.
“I’m fine,” 03 said immediately.
The Main System released the matchstick-like appendages with a grin, planting them on its hips. “Finally going to spend some credits on me?” it asked cheerfully.
What do you mean “spend credits on you”? 03 thought. This is just an equal exchange.
03 remained silent.
The Main System patted it again.
“Although all the voices here are my meticulously crafted masterpieces, unique in the universe, if it’s you, I have a strong recommendation!” The Main System declared, extracting a silvery-white orb from its body. “I’ve been saving this just for you.”
It thrust the orb into 03’s body.
03 felt a surge of power, a fullness like the moment of its creation. It evoked strange emotions: the first taste of something sweet and refreshing, the first greeting exchanged with an unfamiliar race during a mission, and that day in the resplendent hall, the fleeting glimpse of a proud and dazzling Phoenix.
A faint golden hue rippled across the surface of the silvery-white orb. The Main System noticed this, and happy musical notes floated above its head.
“It’s a perfect match!”
“Do you like it?” the Main System asked with a smile. “I always felt it belonged to you.”
03 paused, the Data Orb gently touching the newly added energy within its core.
“It’s acceptable,” it murmured. “Let it be this one.”

[Work Log]
The checkout process at the register took an unusually long time. The System behind me in line asked if I’d bought out the entire shop, but the transaction for 019 went smoothly.
Although 019’s voice code only cost half price, something still felt off.
Needs an explanation.
