My Soft AI Boyfriend Turned into a Rough Man—and Kisses Me Until I Am Pregnant - Chapter 24
Xu Xiaoguai was like a pitiful little stray dog.
At first, she was wary of anyone who came to offer her food. After repeated testing, she suddenly realized that this person didn’t mean her any harm, they wouldn’t break her legs or sell her to dog traders.
They simply wanted to be good to this little dog.
Besides, Xu Xiaoguai wasn’t a dog, and Lu Wang wasn’t a passerby who might feed her once and never be seen again.
He had already been so good to her, preparing a dress and pajamas for her in advance, yet she was still overthinking and distrusting him.
Just thinking about it filled Xu Xiaoguai with guilt. Tears fell from her eyes one by one, her eyes reddening almost like a little rabbit’s. Huddled there, she retrieved the dress that the man had just thrown into the trash and held it in her arms as if it were a treasure.
She kept murmuring softly, “I’m sorry, I really didn’t know… I really like this dress… I really do…”
Her voice was choked with sobs, and she meant every word. Since she was little, her parents had never formally given her a dress. In fact, many of the clothes she wore were hand-me-downs from relatives.
Whenever her mother visited friends or relatives came over, they would often bring a bag of clothes, items that some relative’s daughter of the same age had outgrown or no longer wanted, which were then passed on to Xu Xiaoguai.
As a child, Xu Xiaoguai had also longed to wear new clothes, to wear pretty, colorful dresses like her classmates.
At first, her parents would refuse, but later they would scold her outright.
The phrase she heard most often was,
“We work so hard to earn money. All you do is eat for free and contribute nothing, yet you keep asking for new clothes. Do we owe you something?”
But Xu Xiaoguai knew that her younger brother got new clothes every season, all bought for him by their parents.
So, just moments ago, Xu Xiaoguai had instinctively doubted Lu Wang, thinking the dress was meant for another woman and had only been given to her because she happened to be there.
Xu Xiaoguai couldn’t quite put into words what she felt for Lu Wang. She only knew that she didn’t want him to be like her parents. She truly hoped…
that he genuinely liked her.
Crouched on the floor, Xu Xiaoguai hugged the dress, her body trembling slightly.
For so many years, this was the first time someone had voluntarily given her a new dress, yet because of her own words, it had ended up in the trash.
While feeling guilty, Xu Xiaoguai was also deeply anxious.
This dress held a special meaning for her, but the person who had given it to her… was even more special.
Lu Wang stood there, watching the little beauty in front of him. Crouched on the floor, she carefully held the dress. After retrieving it from the trash, she didn’t just crumple it and stuff it into her arms.
Instead, she folded it meticulously and held it as if it were something precious.
For a moment, Lu Wang’s heart ached with a sharp pang.
This was just a dress he had ordered for her because her clothes were dirty. Even if the little beauty had disliked it and thrown it away, Lu Wang wouldn’t have been angry.
He would have simply thought that the dress he’d chosen wasn’t good enough.
But he never expected that the little beauty would retrieve the dress from the trash, hold it close to her chest, and look at him with eyes full of apology, repeatedly whispering, “I’m sorry.”
Lu Wang walked over and helped the girl to her feet.
The man was much taller than her, Xu Xiaoguai only reached his chest. Standing close, she had to tilt her head back just to see his face clearly.
The girl clutched her skirt, her heart filled with unease.
Would Lu Wang think she had ruined his thoughtful gesture?
It was all her fault…
Xu Xiaoguai couldn’t help but worry. As her thoughts wandered, the skirt in her hands was suddenly about to be taken away.
Lu Wang’s hand also rested on the skirt.
Xu Xiaoguai’s gaze froze, he was still angry.
And rightfully so.
If it were her, she would be upset too.
Xu Xiaoguai didn’t want to let go. What she held in her hands wasn’t just a beautiful skirt, it was, in her heart, the most precious gesture she had ever received, something she had never experienced before.
“Could you… please not be mad at me?”
Xu Xiaoguai fought back tears. “I didn’t mean to, and I do like it.”
“This is the most beautiful skirt I’ve ever seen. I’ll wash it clean.”
She repeated herself, her eyes flustered, desperately hoping to make him understand how much she liked it, that she didn’t dislike what he had prepared for her.
Lu Wang paused for a moment. He had only intended to take the skirt from Xiaoguai’s hands, once it had fallen into the trash, it was dirty. He had been thinking of taking her to pick out a skirt herself.
“Silly girl.”
The man sounded somewhat helpless, yet his tone was laced with deep affection.
He looked down at the girl before him. “Aren’t you hungry?”
Lu Wang wasn’t one for sweet talk, but he wanted to care for Xiaoguai in his own way.
Xu Xiaoguai hugged the skirt tightly. Hearing his words, she lifted her glistening eyes.
Was Lu Wang no longer angry?
She wrestled with her thoughts for a long time. Then, as the man once again firmly took her hand, Xu Xiaoguai took a deep breath, stood on her tiptoes, and tried to kiss Lu Wang.
He seemed to like it when she did that.
Xu Xiaoguai wanted to make him happy too. Feeling shy, she decided to make it a surprise attack.
Nervous, she moved quickly, but even on her tiptoes, she could only reach Lu Wang’s Adam’s apple. Her toes barely touched the ground, yet she still couldn’t reach any higher.
Realizing she hadn’t succeeded, Xu Xiaoguai’s expression grew even more flustered.
Her face flushed as if she had a fever.
After a moment, Lu Wang chuckled softly and touched his Adam’s apple.
“If you like kissing here, you should’ve said so earlier.”
Xu Xiaoguai bit her lower lip. “I… it’s because you’re too tall.”
She couldn’t help but smile, her heart pounding wildly, as if it were about to leap out of her throat.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t calm it down.
Lu Wang wrapped his arm around her.
Xu Xiaoguai’s mind went blank. All she remembered was Lu Wang taking the skirt from her hands, his deep voice echoing in her ear.
“That was a good kiss. I liked it.”
And then…
Then he took her out to eat.
Sitting in the car, Xu Xiaoguai still felt it was all a bit unreal.
It was dark outside.
For the first time, she hadn’t returned home after dark.
Xu Xiaoguai reached into her jeans pocket. Her phone showed no message notifications, no incoming calls.
Mom and Dad… weren’t worried about her.
A faint sense of disappointment washed over her. No matter how poorly they treated her, they were still her parents.
All these years, even though they had never fulfilled her hopes, Xu Xiaoguai still held onto a sliver of expectation in her heart.
Now, it felt as if something had shattered.
She turned her head to look at the man beside her. He sat there in a black shirt, head tilted slightly back, eyes closed, she couldn’t tell whether he was asleep or lost in thought.
Could she really be this lucky?
To have met someone so good.
