My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 52
While the people on Lota Star were analyzing the current situation, Gu Jin had just awakened from a sea of white. Despite the torture she had endured and the subsequent strike to block Nine Colors’ attack, she still did not feel much better, even after resting for some time.
Blinking her eyes, which felt dizzy from the glare of the lights, Gu Jin shifted her gaze to the side. Just as she was about to examine her surroundings, she saw Nine Colors sitting comfortably on a chair. Nine Colors held a fluffy round fan, which was clearly just a decorative accessory, half-covering her face, and was looking at Gu Jin with a scrutinizing and inquisitive gaze.
Realizing what had happened, Gu Jin’s heart sank, but she remained calm on the surface. Supporting herself with one hand, she slowly sat up. “Is this your home?”
Squinting, Gu Jin looked at the room, which contained nothing but white. Did one not fear getting snow blindness from staying in such a room for too long?
“Oh, yes, this is my home.” Nine Colors only then remembered that Gu Jin had already passed out when she was sent flying earlier, so it was natural that she had not seen her “Death” ship. In that case, things were about to get interesting.
A glint of interest flashed in Nine Colors’ eyes. She stood up, swaying her fan, and walked over to Gu Jin. She lifted the hem of her dark red long dress, sat on the edge of the bed, placed a hand on the side, and leaned in close to Gu Jin.
Leaning backward, Gu Jin drooped her eyelids, avoiding Nine Colors. “Tell me, who exactly are you, and what is your purpose? Are you from the Freedom Alliance or the Kadar Empire?”
For Nine Colors, Gu Jin certainly could not lower her guard. She did not believe a single word of the story about finding a wife. A female Alpha with an ultra-S-grade constitution who possessed strength nearly on par with her own, and who happened to find her so conveniently—of course, Gu Jin had not expected the recurrence of her old injuries, but aside from that, Nine Colors’ appearance was too suspicious.
Based on Gu Jin’s years of experience being targeted, she estimated that the person must be from one of those two countries. However, what Gu Jin could not figure out was when someone capable of rivaling her and Qin Zhao had popped up in the interstellar world. If they were truly from one of those two nations, could they have held back for so long without showing off?
Full of suspicion, the more Gu Jin looked at Nine Colors, the more suspicious she seemed.
Seemingly amused by Gu Jin’s reaction, Nine Colors chuckled, her face half-hidden by the fan. “Did I not already introduce myself? My name is Nine Colors. Neither the Kadar Empire nor the Freedom Alliance can order me around. But as for my purpose, I do have one. If you follow me, I will tell you. How about that?”
Her expression cold, Gu Jin emotionlessly swatted away the hand Nine Colors reached toward her. “Get lost.”
“So heartless?” Undeterred by Gu Jin’s cold face, Nine Colors turned, lifted her leg, and leaned against the headboard. Under Gu Jin’s death stare, she deliberately scooted closer to Gu Jin.
Increasing the distance between them, Gu Jin had no desire to deal with her at all. She simply turned her face away, feeling restless. She had passed out instantly earlier and had not seen what happened to He Yu. Could He Yu be here too?
Gently squeezing her fingers, Gu Jin tentatively assessed her physical condition, but it was clearly not optimistic. Last time, with the assistance of a pharmacist and a physician, although she had foolishly piloted a mecha afterward, there were no major issues, and she could essentially return to her peak state in two or three days.
But now, Gu Jin dared not be certain. The damage caused by Nine Colors’ strike was far more severe than piloting a mecha. A conservative estimate was at least four or five days of recovery.
“What are you thinking about? Are you thinking about your little lover, or when you will recover and beat me half to death?” Leaning over, Nine Colors saw Gu Jin’s expression darken further and knew she had guessed correctly. She closed the fluffy fan. “Do not guess for yourself. Ask me; I will tell you everything.”
“Get lost.” Gu Jin could be a chatterbox with acquaintances, and sometimes she could be exceptionally annoying and sharp-tongued, but with others, she was too lazy to say even half a word. Especially with someone like Nine Colors, she did not even have the mood to probe for information. She threw the word back at her.
“Boring.” Narrowing her eyes at Gu Jin, Nine Colors hooked her finger, opened the fan again, rose from the bed, and turned her back to it. She glanced down at Gu Jin, the fan cleverly hiding the curve of her lips. “I think I will go play with the cute little beauty instead. She is much more interesting than you.”
Gu Jin’s brain exploded, and she looked at Nine Colors instantly. “She is here too?”
“Oh? You stopped saying get lost?” Pretending to be surprised, Nine Colors turned to look at Gu Jin, smiling like a fox ready to plot against someone. “It seems you really care about that little cutie. No wonder she was even willing to submit to me for your sake? Tsk, such deep, heavy affection.”
Nine Colors had expected Gu Jin to jump up upon hearing this, but instead, Gu Jin relaxed her braced body, leaned back into her original position, and her tense skin smoothed out. “It seems she is not with you.”
“Hm?” Arching an eyebrow, Nine Colors let out a puzzled sound.
“First, next time you lie, verify the actual situation. She and I are not in a romantic relationship at all. I am chasing her, and she does not like me. Therefore, everything you said is fundamentally untrue. Furthermore, even if she liked me, with her temper, she would absolutely choose death over surrender. In any situation, what you said is false. Heh.”
Giving Nine Colors a scornful glance, Gu Jin added an ironic syllable at the end. Although she did not know why Nine Colors had not brought He Yu along at the time, as long as she confirmed He Yu was not here, she felt relieved. In that case, when she recovered, it would be easier for her to leave, and she would not have to worry about He Yu.
With her heart at ease, the inescapable pain began to wash over her brain again. Gu Jin turned to her side, lay down with her back to Nine Colors, and pulled the blanket over her head, cutting off Nine Colors’ gaze. She slept soundly; even if she did not sleep, there was nothing to do, and she might have to deal with Nine Colors, so she might as well seize the time to recover her body.
Watching the lump on the bed with a complicated gaze for a long while, Nine Colors’ face lost its previous playfulness. She closed her fan, her expression darkening, and turned to leave. As Nine Colors left, the entire room was completely sealed.
While Gu Jin was sleeping like a log on the “Death” ship, knowing nothing, He Yu was having a rough time. All the situations had been summarized, and not one was favorable for their rescue.
They had absolutely no way to contact the elusive Madelon Pirate Group. As for Gu Jin, she was likely severely injured; whether she was awake was anyone’s guess. Additionally, Gu Jin’s optical signal had become completely blank. They did not know what method the enemy had used, but even Gu Jin’s military optical comms had lost connection.
“So, we can only sit here passively waiting for them to contact us? What if their goal is to kidnap the Commander and demand a ransom or…” Gu Nuan, the youngest of them, had rubbed his soft chestnut curly hair into a bird’s nest and was pacing the meeting room restlessly.
“Be quiet. Think on the bright side. What if that person just craves our Commander’s body? Our Commander is an Alpha, she will not be at a disadvantage, right?” Sitting in the lower chair with her legs crossed, the moment Gu Yin finished speaking, three gazes pinned onto her coldly.
Shuddering, Gu Yin looked at He Yu and coughed twice. “Ahem, but I believe the Commander has her own destiny and will find a way to protect herself.”
Gu Yin’s words carried no persuasive power. He Yu’s heart felt heavier. It would have been better if she were the one captured, as Gu Jin would always find a way to rescue her. Now that Gu Jin was captured and she was helpless, it was the first time He Yu realized the importance of strength.
“Gu Ling will be back soon; she will arrive tomorrow.” Sitting across from Gu Yin, Gu Jing, who had been silent, suddenly popped out a sentence.
He Yu remembered that this was the Beta guard captain who followed Gu Jin to the Capital Star. When they departed, because Gu Jin and He Yu had traveled through a wormhole, they were a bit faster, while Gu Ling had to handle some of Gu Jin’s affairs at the Capital Star, so she was a bit slower. Now it seemed she was not far behind.
“What is the use of Gu Ling coming back? Will she not just be anxious along with us? In terms of brains, she is not as good as me; in terms of martial arts, she is not as good as Gu Jing. Tsk, it is more practical to wait for the Commander to save herself.” Gu Yin looked at her interlaced fingers and continued to pour cold water on them.
At this, Gu Nuan could not hold back anymore. “Gu Yin, just you wait. When the Commander returns, I will definitely report what you said today to her word for word. You will see what happens then!”
“Little Gu Nuan, getting angry at me is useless,” Gu Yin said, completely unafraid of Gu Nuan’s threat, her amorous eyes falling on He Yu. “Actually, I do have a way, but this matter requires Miss He to contribute her efforts.”
He Yu felt a startle in her heart and looked at Gu Yin, who was still wearing that leisurely expression.
“Miss He? We do not have a Miss He here. Where is she? I will go invite her right now.” Of course, Gu Nuan did not understand what Gu Yin meant and kept asking who this so-called Miss He was.
Lightly rotating the silver-blue ring on her finger, Gu Yin stood up and walked straight toward He Yu. “Far away yet so near. He Yu, may I call you Miss He? Or should I call you Miss Yu?”
At the same time, Gu Nuan and Gu Jing’s gazes turned toward He Yu with surprise. Their faces then grew serious. Gu Jing even frowned directly. “The He family of the Capital Star, He Yu of the Sasha Star Mecha Research Center, Professor He?”
He Yu was not prepared for her identity to be exposed so unexpectedly. Facing the three gazes, He Yu felt a bit embarrassed, her hands clasped together, but she did not deny it, admitting it directly and generously. “That is correct, it is me.”
“I will arrange the starship. You must leave Lota Star.” After a long silence, Gu Jing stood up from her seat, her already steady and serious face even darker with clouds, and directly ordered He Yu to leave.
“I am not leaving. Gu Jin has not returned yet. When she returns, I will leave on my own; I do not need you to chase me.” Also standing up, given that Gu Jin had already explained the situation to her, He Yu was only panicked for a moment at the beginning, then calmed down. In fact, it did not matter if she stayed or not; as long as Gu Jin could return, she could go straight back to the Capital Star.
Regarding He Yu’s attitude, Gu Jing’s brows almost twisted into a knot. Gu Nuan, who had been standing beside He Yu, also moved far away with a heavy heart. Only Gu Yin’s expression remained unchanged.
Watching Gu Jing about to speak again, Gu Yin stopped her for He Yu. “Gu Jing, calm down first. The top priority now is to rescue the Commander. If you really want the Commander to be seriously injured and rely on her own escape to return, then feel free to send Miss He away.”
Unexpectedly, Gu Yin, who had always seemed the most unreliable, was the one to help her in the end. He Yu breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
“Compared to Miss He, should Professor He not be more precise? Professor He does not mind if I call you that, right?” Gu Yin interlaced her fingers again and walked up to He Yu. Seeing He Yu nod, she continued, “Professor He’s attainments in mecha are among the best in the empire. I remember that in the new-style mecha, Professor He once boldly introduced a new type of material, and among the new materials, it comes with special short-wave radiation that cannot be eliminated, right?”
“Yes.” He Yu glanced at Gu Jing and Gu Nuan, whose breathing became significantly heavier upon hearing “new-style mecha,” and felt a bit uncomfortable. “That is a newly discovered regenerative memory material with extreme density, used to reinforce the mecha’s instant repair function and enhance defensive power. However, due to certain practical reasons, only the most core part of the new-style mecha uses this material.”
After speaking, He Yu explained more about the reasons for the material’s uniqueness, as well as their formulas, hoping to assist Gu Yin.
After listening, Gu Yin nodded. “Then that is correct. I have had the honor of reading Professor He’s paper on this material. Coincidentally, when I previously went with the Commander to deal with ‘Madelon,’ I discovered that the exterior of their ‘Death’ ship used this material. I even accidentally picked up a bit of material that fell off it. Experimental proof shows that my guess was correct.”
After their few exchanges, Gu Jing and Gu Nuan successfully fell into silence, their eyes even turning blank. Why? Because they did not understand, especially when He Yu explained the composition of the material—every word she said sounded like an alien language.
“What do you mean?” He Yu looked at Gu Yin with slight hesitation.
“Professor He, you should know how to find the ‘Death’ ship by now, right?” Gu Yin clapped her hands and asked He Yu.
With obscure and difficult formulas quickly forming in her mind, He Yu’s fingertips twitched. “Can I use the laboratory and the arsenal on Lota Star?”
“All doors are open for you.”
Gu Yin still wore the smile she started with, only it was a bit thicker.
Although Gu Jing and Gu Nuan basically did not understand anything, they understood the last sentence: Professor He had a way to find the Madelon Pirate Group!
With that sentence, let alone using the arsenal and the laboratory, even turning Lota Star upside down would be no problem at all.
Gu Jing quickly opened all temporary authorizations for He Yu, and then the three of them sent He Yu to the equipment base together. He Yu took a deep breath, stood at the entrance of the laboratory, and looked at the three people behind her. “Give me one day. By tomorrow morning at the latest, I will give you the results.”
The heavy door of the laboratory closed slowly. Gu Yin rested her elbow on Gu Jing’s shoulder and sighed leisurely. “Sigh, it would be great if she was not my sister-in-law.”
The moment Gu Yin finished speaking, Gu Jing and Gu Nuan exchanged an incredulous look, then turned and pinned Gu Yin to the spot for a sound beating!
“Hey! Hey! Mercy! I was just saying!”
