My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 45
It was said that they were leaving immediately, but that did not mean they could simply pack their bags and board the starship. Before leaving, Gu Jin still had to go see Gu Ting and take the opportunity to report the news that He Yu would also be accompanying her.
Although there seemed to be no more obstacles between the two, after this incident, the He family’s subsidiary families had been almost completely uprooted, and the threat of the He family had been greatly diminished. Elder He had also indicated that he would no longer interfere with the relationship between the two.
The family obstacles were gone, but Gu Jin and He Yu did not choose to have a shotgun wedding as everyone might have imagined. Instead, they decided to take things slowly; after all, they might find someone even more suitable (not really).
Therefore, for this trip, He Yu did not tell her family she was going to Rota Star with Gu Jin. She told them she wanted to go out to relax, and added that her new mecha project was currently on hold. She had indeed been very free lately, so the members of the He family did not ask too many questions.
When Gu Jin and He Yu stood together in the repaired palace, they saw Gu Ting sitting alone on the high throne, bored, playing with the star map on the dome. He was not at all surprised to see the two of them walk in.
Sitting upright, Gu Ting walked down from the high throne. “Are you two planning to go together?”
“Yes, is that a problem?” Gu Jin did not think Gu Ting would have any objections. After all, he was currently overwhelmed with dealing with the remnants of the four major families and did not have time to worry about such matters.
As expected, Gu Ting had no intention of stopping them. “Take good care of her over there. Also, there is some good news.” Two bottles appeared out of thin air beside Gu Ting. They were filled with a cerulean blue potion that looked quite sparkly and beautiful.
“The antidote for the potion in your bodies is ready. After human trials, it is completely safe and effective, with no side effects. You can take it orally.”
The two bottles of liquid floated in front of them. He Yu recalled the fake bottle of potion Gu Ting had used to bluff her earlier and asked, “Your Majesty, is this not another fake, is it?”
“Hahaha, this one is real! We found the development records of the pharmacist who invented this potion. Based on the ingredients, the pharmacist formulated the antidote. You are lucky to have received the antidote so quickly. Rest assured, with this, you can make your own choices. Whether you choose Gu Jin or not does not matter; it will not affect anything!”
Gu Ting laughed and teased them, which infuriated Gu Jin so much that she almost grabbed the bottle and threw it at Gu Ting. How could this person be so obnoxious?
He Yu looked at the antidote, then glanced at Gu Jin. She hesitated for a moment, and not knowing what she was thinking, she simply picked up the potion and drank it in one gulp. Gu Ting, holding a “the more drama the better” attitude, stood to the side and shook his head at Gu Jin in an exaggerated manner.
Gu Jin glared threateningly at Gu Ting, then drank her own potion and placed the empty bottle back on the floating tray. She looked at He Yu and said, “I, Gu Jin, do not need to use such forced means to be with someone. Besides, I am quite confident in my own personal charm.”
Gu Ting rolled his eyes. “Pfft, confident my foot. With your level of charm, if you weren’t a princess of the Weize Empire, you would have been beaten to death in a sack hundreds of times over.”
“Shut up. I’m not going to be with you, so why do you care so much? He Yu isn’t complaining.” After being so bluntly exposed by Gu Ting, Gu Jin retorted.
“I do complain.”
Gu Jin: “…Can we still have a normal conversation?”
“Complaining won’t help. You’ve already agreed to come with me. If you dare to back out, I will knock you out and drag you along.” After saying this, Gu Jin seemed afraid that He Yu would actually change her mind, so she pulled her toward the exit, leaving Gu Ting with a view of her flamboyant silver hair. “Contact me on the light brain if anything happens. Goodbye!”
Moving quickly, Gu Jin led He Yu to the landing pad in the palace’s back garden. In the middle of the massive space sat a giant, silver-white interstellar battleship bearing the royal emblem. Several soldiers stood at the entrance in formation, waiting for their arrival.
“Greetings, Young Commander! Greetings, Madame!”
The synchronized sound startled He Yu. She paused, and just as she was about to say something, Gu Jin quickly put her arm around her and guided her onto the battleship. He Yu did not see the “well done” gesture Gu Jin made to the soldiers behind her back.
Once on board, He Yu swatted Gu Jin’s hand away. “Did you order them to do that? Keep your hands to yourself.”
“You don’t like it?” Gu Jin leaned toward He Yu with an innocent look. Seeing He Yu nod, Gu Jin made a contemplative face. “Then how about I tell them to call you Professor He from now on?”
He Yu sat in a nearby seat. Although “Professor He” did not sound that impressive, it was at least better than “Madame.” Thinking this, He Yu nodded reluctantly.
“That’s settled then. From now on, they call you Professor He, and they call me Madame He. Tsk, I actually quite like that title.” Gu Jin sat down beside He Yu, completely unconcerned about who was “marrying” whom.
He Yu, on the other hand, reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. She looked at Gu Jin in disbelief. “You actually have the nerve to say that?”
With skin thicker than a wall and absolutely fearless, Gu Jin smiled innocently at He Yu. “What’s wrong with saying that, right, wifey?”
“Do not call me wifey!” He Yu jumped up immediately, glaring down at Gu Jin. She wondered if she had boarded a pirate ship. Back in the capital, Gu Jin had been a normal person, but now that they were leaving, it was as if a seal had been broken.
“Then…” Gu Jin looked troubled, then pretended to be coyly shy. “Hubby…”
“Shut up!” He Yu covered Gu Jin’s mouth tightly, looking around in a panic. Fortunately, there were only the two of them there, otherwise, she might have just wanted to die of embarrassment.
Looking at Gu Jin, who was still laughing beneath her hand, and feeling the ticklish sensation of Gu Jin’s breath against her palm, He Yu applied a little more pressure with a warning. “Gu Jin, stop acting crazy. If you do this again, I’m getting off the ship!”
Gu Jin raised both hands. He Yu thought she was surrendering, but then she saw Gu Jin extend two fingers to point to the side. Following her direction, He Yu saw the fully enclosed cabin begin to slowly turn transparent. The view outside had already transformed into an endless, deep blue sea of stars!
When did the ship start? How was it so fast?
A moment of shock caused He Yu to lose her focus, and Gu Jin took the opportunity to slip away from her grasp.
Gu Jin smiled triumphantly and was about to say something when she saw He Yu’s expression turn cold. Seeing the flicker of life and vivacity about to be sealed back beneath that iceberg face, Gu Jin immediately stopped laughing, closed her mouth, and surrendered with both hands.
“Just a joke. I promise I won’t do it again, really!”
He Yu, who was not actually angry, was satisfied with Gu Jin’s behavior, but she did not show it on her face. She just moved to a seat further away and remained unmoved.
Gu Jin saw through this, but she knew that was just how He Yu was. If she pushed her luck any further, He Yu might actually leave the ship.
“We are currently on a specialized interstellar battleship. Normally, it would take at least a month to reach the capital from the border stars, and a week by military battleship. Since we are short on time and have an important mission, we opened a long-range wormhole. It should take about a day, but it might be a bit tiring. If you feel uncomfortable, let me know.” Gu Jin returned to normal, explaining their journey.
A wormhole? He Yu’s eyes flickered. In fact, the Weize Empire had begun using wormholes—which were unstable but highly efficient—a long time ago. She was also very curious about this, but due to her field of expertise, she had never had the chance to experience it. This was her first time experiencing one, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation.
Carefully observing He Yu’s expression, Gu Jin guessed her thoughts. “Wormholes are usually only used on the battlefield or in emergency situations. There are short-range and long-range wormholes. You saw one before—that time I snuck out to take you to see ‘The Immortal.’ I used a short-range wormhole then. It’s similar to the royal emergency passages, so you might not have noticed.”
Intrigued by the topic, He Yu recalled that time. Gu Jin had indeed appeared out of nowhere, and later, when Wen Ju said people were coming, Gu Jin had grabbed her and instantly teleported them. She had thought Gu Jin had used a royal passage, but it was a wormhole? What a waste of resources; what a spendthrift.
He Yu’s long, black eyebrows twitched slightly on her overly fair face, her long lashes lowered, and her deep black, bright pupils shifted slightly toward Gu Jin. Underneath He Yu’s consistently cold expression, Gu Jin somehow perceived a sense of disdain…
“Hey, I did that for your own good, okay? You’re actually looking down on me.” Gu Jin felt very aggrieved. She had gone through all that trouble, ended up with injuries, and now she was being looked down upon?
Surprised that Gu Jin had actually understood her meaning, He Yu felt a bit guilty. She moved her eyes away, avoiding eye contact. “This star sea is quite beautiful. Is it the one belonging to the home planet?”
Seeing what He Yu was doing, Gu Jin resignedly looked outside. A magnificent, vast sea of stars filled their vision. Countless light-years away, a vast, ethereal silver ribbon floated in the deep blue sea of stars. No matter how many times one had seen it, one would still feel a tremor in their heart.
Gu Jin nodded. “That’s right, this is it. Humanity has been out here for nearly ten thousand years, yet this sea of stars remains unchanged.”
He Yu placed her hand on the cabin wall, as if wanting to touch the painting floating in space. “The home planet… if there is a chance, I would really like to see what it looks like.”
“There is no chance,” Gu Jin said as she stood up from her chair, her face tinged with a faint sadness. “Humanity caused too much damage to the home planet. After leaving it and establishing the Weize Empire, the founding emperor used a special spatial trap to hide the home planet and its entire system. We can only see it from afar when passing through wormholes, but we can never reach it.”
“Though, ten thousand years have passed; perhaps the home planet has come back to life.” Gu Jin looked at the gradually disappearing star sea. According to ancestral records, the home planet was a very vibrant place with excellent self-recovery capabilities. If that was the case, after such a long time, it might have fully recovered.
This time, He Yu did not listen to Gu Jin. Instead, she turned to look at her. “You mean we are currently traveling through a wormhole? And we can see the home planet’s star system while doing so?”
“Yes. At the very least, I see it every time. The duration just varies; this time was relatively long.” Gu Jin was not particularly sensitive to this, but seeing He Yu seemingly lost in thought, she did not dare to interrupt.
Before Gu Jin could ask, He Yu stood up and walked to Gu Jin’s side. A strange brilliance shone in her eyes. “If we have the ability to penetrate the wormhole and establish a channel that contains both time and space, does that mean we could return to the home planet? Even the home planet from ten thousand years ago?”
“Moreover, an unrefined wormhole consumes everything, including time, space, light, and power! If we could improve the micro-wormhole technology and equip it on a mecha, and then help the pilot absorb and mitigate the backlash of the mecha, wouldn’t that mean it wouldn’t be a pipe dream for Omegas to pilot mechas in the future?”
The more she spoke, the more excited she became. He Yu’s mood was better than it had ever been. Her usually cold, expressionless face was filled with anticipation and excitement. She walked back and forth in the cabin, talking to herself to vent her excitement. Looking at Gu Jin, who was standing beside her, she reached out for the first time and hugged her waist. “Gu Jin, thank you so much for this! This will likely be the solution to the biggest shortcoming in the history of human scientific development!”
Feeling He Yu’s body trembling with excitement in her arms, Gu Jin was so happy she didn’t know how to react. By the time she did, He Yu had already let go and sat down in a nearby chair, pulling out her light brain to start recording her ideas.
This was just an extremely vague direction. If one were to actually put it into practice, the problems would be enough to fill the entire capital, but what was most precious was this very spark of an idea.
After recording her thoughts, He Yu still had a flush of excitement on her face, and her pure black, beautiful eyes remained captivating. She looked unimaginably stunning.
“Wow, Professor He is amazing.” Gu Jin, unable to hold back, suppressed her pounding heart, walked in front of He Yu, and bent down slightly, one hand on the transparent cabin wall and the other on He Yu’s shoulder. The distance between the two was close enough to feel each other’s warm breath. “So, how is Professor He going to thank me?”
Her heartbeat skipped a beat. He Yu looked at Gu Jin in front of her, unable to react. Her long lashes fluttered, unexpectedly bringing a hint of pitiable charm to her cold and aloof face.
Looking at He Yu, who said nothing but did not resist like a high-altitude flower waiting to be picked, cold and arrogant, yet making her followers willing to flock to her Gu Jin’s eyes gradually became hazy as she slowly closed the distance between them.
