My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 44
In reality, it was just a fleeting affair from the past. Back then, Gu Ting had not yet married Xiao Ze. After serving as Emperor for a few years, the initial novelty had worn off, and he began to feel that being Emperor was a boring job.
He dumped the state affairs onto his ministers and ran off to have fun under the guise of traveling incognito. In truth, he was just hiding his identity to roam freely. As luck would have it, he met a young Qin Zhao. Seeing that the person was good-looking, he developed impure thoughts and led the other on until he was completely wrapped around his finger.
However, just as he was having the time of his life, the old Emperor discovered that Gu Ting was neglecting his duties and derelict in his responsibilities. Under pressure from his father, Gu Ting had no choice but to return obediently. After being scolded severely, he settled down to act as a proper Emperor. Later, he married Xiao Ze. As he grew older, his temperament stabilized, and he made a clean break with the past.
It was a pity, though; while he had moved on, the person he had led astray had not.
“Qin Zhao, there is no good outcome for an AA relationship. Furthermore, with identities like ours, combined with the fact that our personalities are fundamentally incompatible, you should let go. Leave the past behind; there is still a long road ahead of you.” Gu Ting said this earnestly while patting Qin Zhao on the shoulder. He had absolutely no interest in such romantic entanglements now. If he had that kind of time, he would rather sleep in.
Hearing Gu Ting’s words, Qin Zhao simply lowered his head and remained silent, suppressing unknown turmoil beneath his calm exterior.
He Yu glanced at Gu Jin and tugged at her clothes. When Gu Jin looked over, He Yu whispered in her ear, “Does this sentence sound familiar?”
“There is no good outcome for two Os…”
Recalling her own words from the past, Gu Jin fell silent. She still remembered the massive conflict she and He Yu had back then because of that statement. She had not expected that even after more than a decade, He Yu still had not forgotten it.
“It is fine, we are an AO pair now; there will definitely be a good outcome.” Leaning toward He Yu, Gu Jin quietly reached out to wrap her arm around He Yu’s waist. However, before her hand could even touch He Yu’s clothes, He Yu dodged away. She gave Gu Jin a warning look, crossed her arms, and moved a little further away.
“Even if I cast aside my identity as the Second Prince, change my name, and choose to stay by your side, is that not enough?” With these words, it could be said that Qin Zhao had abandoned everything, even his dignity. The weight of his sacrifice was so significant that the others present could not help but look at him in awe.
Yet another top-tier interstellar master. The Weize Empire only needed one Gu Jin to keep the ten directions in peace; if they added a Qin Zhao, who might be even stronger, would not the entire galaxy be within their grasp? One only had to look at the crushing four-person battle from earlier to see just how powerful top-tier masters were in this interstellar era.
But Gu Ting remained completely unmoved. He looked firmly at Qin Zhao, “There is no need for this. The events of yesterday are dead; you are, by nature, the Second Prince, Qin Zhao. Why give up yourself for me? You have your own path to walk, and besides, I do not want the Lord of the Xulong Kingdom coming to execute me.”
“I…” Qin Zhao originally wanted to say that his father had agreed to it, but looking at Gu Ting’s expression, he knew it was pointless. Swallowing his words, Qin Zhao nodded with a bitter smile. He took one last look at Gu Ting. “Take care. May we never meet again.”
With that, Qin Zhao did not look back, disappearing into the horizon in the blink of an eye. At the same time, Gu Ting’s communicator received a message that the Xulong mission was taking their leave.
Watching Qin Zhao depart and pulling back her gaze, Gu Jin looked at Xiao Ze, who was planning the announcement of their separation on his communicator, then looked at Gu Ting. She let out a heavy sigh. Now, they had two brothers-in-law, and both were gone.
“Clean up the battlefield. Send the living to be thoroughly cared for, and dig out everything about the Zerg’s activities from these years!” Looking at the ruins before him, Gu Ting’s voice turned cold as ice.
Gu Jin stopped dwelling on those trivial matters. She stepped into the ruins and dragged out the four family heads and the two Zerg individuals one by one, beating them until they were half-dead before handing them over to the Royal Guards who had remained to clear out the rebels.
Originally, Gu Jin had ordered the Royal Guards to split into four groups to clear out the rebels at the four borders of the palace and to support the Capital Star garrison. However, because of Qin Zhao’s arrival, the battle had ended before the garrison even arrived. Now, they were beginning to purge all the remaining forces of the four families.
After capturing the six leaders, others took them to the special prison, so there was nothing left for Gu Jin to do. When she turned back, the spot where the others had been standing was empty; Gu Ting, Xiao Ze, and He Yu had all vanished. Only Gu Ling and He Yi were left helping her clean up.
“Sigh,” Gu Jin sighed again. What a mess.
The next day was destined to be a day of blood and turmoil. The citizens of the Capital Star, who had been baptized by the massive events of the previous day, were trembling and comforting each other on the StarNet when several official announcements hit them like a bolt from the blue.
First, naturally, was the news of the four families, including the Xiao and Tao families, rebelling and being suppressed in a lightning strike. Following that was the news of the divorce between the Emperor of Weize and the Empress. The timing of these two events appearing simultaneously was incredibly subtle.
But before the public’s conspiracy theories could ferment, they saw the details of the Xiao family’s rebellion and the reason why Empress Xiao Ze had taken the initiative to propose the divorce. He had spent the first half of his life for his family; now that the family was gone, could they not allow him to do what he wanted?
So, while the public was processing this, Gu Jin was already standing at the entrance of an interstellar spaceship. She looked at Xiao Ze, who had finally traded his intricate white ceremonial robes for a crisp, light-brown trench coat, looking refreshed and at ease. She felt a genuine sense of relief.
“I have already made arrangements on Rota Star. There will be people to greet you when you arrive. Have a safe journey.” Standing outside the ship, Gu Jin waved goodbye to Xiao Ze.
Turning back, Xiao Ze nodded slightly. “Thank you. Until we meet again.”
Watching Xiao Ze’s ship disappear into the sea of stars, Gu Jin retracted her gaze and turned around to face Gu Ting, who had appeared beside her at some point. “Where did you go just now?”
“Arrived a step too late?” Gu Ting was dressed in black casual clothes, his hands in his trench coat pockets, his tone indifferent, as if he really had just arrived a moment too late.
Looking at her older brother, Gu Jin sighed. “Great, now that your wife has flown away, what are you going to do?”
“What am I going to do?” Gu Ting lifted his face, a pair of premium handmade sunglasses appearing on his nose. He lowered his head, looked at Gu Jin, and raised an eyebrow. “Is freedom not glorious?”
Looking at Gu Ting like this, Gu Jin did not bring up those unpleasant topics again. She brushed her silver hair back. “Then you enjoy your freedom. I am off to bomb the Capital Star.”
Bomb the Capital Star? Gu Ting hesitated for a second. Damn! “Gu Jin! You dare!”
After extensive deployment and investigation, the results of the four families’ rebellion case were released two weeks later. It was entirely the work of the Zerg, and all four families had members controlled by the Zerg. As for Rota Star, after verification, the culprits were “Xiao Xiaoyu” and “Xiao Yuqi.” Both were sentenced to death, with Gu Jin ordered to carry out the execution personally.
In He Yu’s room at the He residence, Gu Jin had long been familiar with the way in, climbing in through the window. He Yu, who was sitting at the table reading Essentials of Pregnancy, was not at all surprised and did not even bother to lift her eyelids.
Pulling up a chair to sit beside He Yu, Gu Jin said, sounding unusually excited, “The truth about all those previous events has been uncovered. Do you not want to know?”
“Speak.” Given her extreme irritability during pregnancy, He Yu had recently been focusing on practicing patience and self-control, trying to return to her pre-pregnancy state.
Having learned her lesson a few times, Gu Jin did not stall and laid out everything uncovered in the investigation for He Yu.
It started with the poisoning of Gu Jin and He Yu at Tao Ran’s welcome banquet.
At first, Gu Jin had been puzzled as to why they would use that specific drug on her and He Yu. Would using a direct poison not be easier? After interrogating “Xiao Yuqi,” she finally got the answer.
Having learned from Tao Ran that Gu Jin and He Yu were long-standing rivals, “Xiao Yuqi” believed it. He thought that by using this drug, the two rivals would be bound together, sparking greater conflict, causing them to suffer miserably, and also inciting family conflict. Both would eventually die, and the He and Gu families would turn completely against each other.
It had to be said, if Gu Jin and He Yu had not ended up in that situation by sheer coincidence, they might have actually succeeded. After all, based on their old personalities, it would have been impossible for them not to fight to the death.
Later, perhaps discovering that the two had not reacted as expected, they began to resort to more devious plots, such as instigating Fifth Lingmei. The sudden disappearance of the force field at the celebration banquet was one of them. They thought it would cause a major rift between the two families, but they never expected Gu Jin to take responsibility for it all herself, leaving no ripple at all.
Failing repeatedly but refusing to give up, the Xiao family finally could not help but take action themselves. They had not expected that the moment they moved, they would fall right into the trap set by the royal family, forcing them to move up their rebellion plans. Consequently, it all fell apart because of Gu Jin and Qin Zhao.
In the interrogation room, “Xiao Yuqi” and “Xiao Xiaoyu” were practically sick with rage. Initially, the plan to frame the He family by leveraging the failure of the Rota Star campaign was going so well. Yet, the moment Gu Jin and He Yu returned, everything changed. Years of preparation were wasted; it was more painful to them than being killed.
Of course, they would never imagine that the reason for their failure was precisely because Gu Jin and He Yu had been rivals for so many years and understood each other 100 percent, which led to their utter defeat. Add to that Gu Ting’s limitless indulgence and trust in Gu Jin; in that light, they did not lose unfairly.
After hearing Gu Jin finish, He Yu closed her book and looked at her. “So, you intentionally used the Xiao family’s attempt to frame the He family as an opportunity?”
“Uh… you could put it that way.” Gu Jin felt a little guilty, especially since Gu Ting had actually wanted to take down the He family too.
“Whose idea was that?” He Yu’s face began to turn cold, her fingers began to flex, and her eyes narrowed, carrying a hint of teeth-gritting intent.
“Gu Ting!” What are brothers for? Naturally, they are there to be the scapegoat. Gu Jin pinned the blame on Gu Ting with a clear conscience. “Actually, I always felt it was inappropriate. At the very least, we should have consulted Prime Minister He first. But my brother insisted that consulting would easily lead to leaks and that everything would be lost. Sigh, I was not able to talk him out of it.”
He Yu: I believe you, you liar.
“By the way, there is one more thing you do not know,” Gu Jin quickly shifted He Yu’s attention. “Remember Princess Laite of the Kadar Empire? She had a pheromone riot here once. I felt something was wrong at the time, and upon investigation, it really was ‘Xiao Yuqi’s’ doing!”
He Yu looked at Gu Jin with interest, signaling for her to continue.
“During that time, was I not off nursing my injuries? ‘Xiao Yuqi’ suspected I was faking it. He thought Princess Laite liked me, so he wanted to use the Princess to test me. He drugged her. But guess what? It is such a coincidence; Princess Laite had just happened to change her heart and fell for another Alpha. When she was eloping with that Alpha, the drug took effect. The fatal part was that the Alpha regretted it and did not even go to the interstellar station. If it had not been for me… Mr. Carlo from Loka Star, the Princess would have been in danger.”
Almost slipping up, Gu Jin changed her words in time; she did not want to be chased by Gu Ting again.
“And then?” Surprisingly, He Yu was genuinely drawn into the story; perhaps she had not expected “Xiao Yuqi” to be so unlucky.
“Later, I heard that after that incident, Princess Laite fell deeply in love with Mr. Carlo, but was flatly rejected. Heartbroken, she took the Alpha who had cheated her and made him her thirty-sixth concubine. Now that they found out who drugged her, she even made a special trip from the Kadar Empire and stabbed ‘Xiao Yuqi’ twice. Tsk, I do not know how relieved I was when I heard that news.”
Gu Jin looked like someone who had just escaped death. She was truly relieved; at the time, several empires had come with the intention of marrying into her family. If she had been blind enough to fall for Princess Laite, would she not be wearing a green hat over her entire galaxy by now?
Amused by Gu Jin’s expression, He Yu’s exquisite, porcelain-like features softened with human emotion. Gu Jin stared in a daze for a moment. My, she gets more beautiful every time I look at her.
These days, aside from investigating the Xiao family case, she had basically dedicated all her time to hovering around He Yu.
Gu Jin’s mindset was very positive. Although it had been hard for her to accept that she had fallen for her former rival, ever since the misunderstanding that He Yu liked her first, she had stopped suppressing her feelings, loving He Yu openly and brazenly.
Even though He Yu later said it was all a misunderstanding, Gu Jin was sad for a short while, then revived after Gu Ting’s ruthless jabs. She was very optimistic: If I can fall for He Yu, how could He Yu not fall for me?
Holding onto this illogical, honeyed self-confidence, Gu Jin had begun her journey of pursuing her wife. But clearly, the path was long and obstructed. Not only did He Yu not show much change, but Gu Jin just found she could not get enough of her, and consequently, she was often ruthlessly thrown out by He Yu from wherever she came from.
Before He Yu could catch Gu Jin’s lingering gaze, a message on Gu Jin’s communicator successfully saved her.
It was from Gu Ting. The message was simple: traces of interstellar pirates had been discovered at the border. Based on experience, this group was likely the legendary Merendi Pirate Group. He told Gu Jin to prepare; she might need to set off again.
The peaceful life in the Capital Star over the last few days had almost made Gu Jin forget her life at the blood-soaked border. Looking at this message, she felt a subtle, almost imperceptible sense of emotion.
Replying with a “received,” Gu Jin looked at He Yu, her slightly curved eyes carrying obvious anticipation. “I am heading to Rota Star. Are you interested? Want to come along?”
She had long been restless in the Capital Star. He Yu looked at Gu Jin beside her, lifted her chin with a touch of pride, her lips curving into a faint, barely visible arc. “Naturally.”
