My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 28
As soon as she arrived at the front door, He Yu saw her parents returning. She quickly masked her inner turmoil and asked, “Dad, Mom, why are you home so early today?”
Her parents wore visible smiles. “Yes, though we will be coming home later over the next few days. Your grandfather has finally had a change of heart and decided to hand over mecha research and the security of the various mecha industries to the military. This not only increases the safety factor significantly but also allows us to better understand the military’s requirements. Today was the handover day; we returned right after the ceremony ended.”
“By the way, you are coming from outside as well. Did you go to a friend’s house? It is good to go out more; do not always stay cooped up at home,” her mother said, looking at He Yu with relief. Her daughter was perfect in every way, except for her lack of friends and social life.
“No, I went to the palace to request information regarding the new mechas.” He Yu was perpetually confused by her mother’s suggestions to make friends; how could one become friends with people they shared no common interests with?
Her mother looked disappointed, but her father was excited. “Did the Emperor agree?”
“He did. However, the public outcry against the new mechas is currently too high. Once the public anger subsides, we can proceed.”
This was understandable. Because the live footage of the Battle of Planet Rota had been leaked by someone unknown, the public’s resistance toward the new mechas, which had claimed the lives of ten million soldiers, had reached an extreme. It was already a sign of the Empire’s leniency that they had not shut down the project entirely.
“By the way, Dad, why did Grandpa suddenly decide to hand over the security of the mecha research chain to the military? Was he not always opposed to it?” As they walked and chatted, He Yu recalled that the security had previously been handled by the He family’s private guards.
“Who knows? Perhaps your grandfather is tired. Besides, the Empire has a formal military; keeping so many private guards was starting to cause gossip. That might be the reason,” her father analyzed seriously, and He Yu found the explanation plausible.
However, if Elder He had been there, he would have been fuming!
Willingly? What a joke! It was only because the Gu family had detained He Yu’s parents and used their safety as a condition that he had painfully surrendered the mecha security duties. It was detestable!
After finishing her conversation with her parents, He Yu returned to her room and reopened the Interstellar Fan Handbook. Since Gu Jin was in her current state, why should she violate her promise?
Taking paper from her desk, He Yu began copying the first chapter: Basic Personal Profile of Gu Jin. She began to write.
-
- Name: Gu Jin
-
- Gender: Female Alpha
-
- Identity: Sister of the Emperor, niece of the retired Emperor, daughter of the old Marshal, member of the Imperial Family, Grand Marshal of Planet Rota, newly appointed Border Grand Marshal, Young Marshal of the Empire… (To be supplemented)
-
- Age: Twenty-seven
-
- Height: 178 cm
-
- Weight: Unknown
-
- Birthday: February 2nd
-
- Physical Grade: Super S-Class
-
- Pheromone Scent: Scent of green grass (PS: With a hint of fresh, damp post-rain fragrance.)
He Yu was stunned. How did they know the scent of Gu Jin’s pheromones? And “fresh and damp after rain”? How did she not know that?
As she continued reading, she became increasingly speechless.
-
- Hobbies: Various holographic games, fighting, mecha combat, commanding armies. Food preferences: Particularly fond of traditionally processed foods, dislikes nutritional paste.
-
- Dislikes: He Yu.
“Does the entire galaxy know?” He Yu’s hand trembled slightly as she suppressed her irritation and continued writing. After finishing three pages of flowery praise regarding Gu Jin’s appearance, her eyes fixed on one entry.
-
- Best CP: ______
It was blank. Out of curiosity, He Yu looked at the previous answers. They were all over the place: games, mechas, Silas, Pilate, and even Qin Zhao. The reason for the last one was that Qin Zhao was the only person who could fight Gu Jin to a draw.
Looking at that string of Alphas, He Yu began to doubt Gu Jin’s gender. Was this a joke?
Scrolling to the top, where the highest number of votes resided, He Yu rubbed her eyes in disbelief. After confirming it three times, she was sure she had not misread it: it was her own name.
Checking the voting date, it had started two days ago. She recalled the incidents at the Cultural Street and the palace; it seemed those two events had led everyone to misunderstand her relationship with Gu Jin.
As for why the “Best CP” slot was currently empty, the explanation below stated: “Due to significant controversy regarding the first-place entry, it is temporarily not adopted.”
Clicking on the comments section of her own voting result, He Yu was shocked. The sheer chaos in the comments was beyond her imagination.
Gu Jin’s fans: “Young Marshal Gu hates He Yu the most. How could she possibly be willing to form a CP with her?!”
He Yu’s fans: “Take away our Goddess He. We do not want this either. The person our Goddess hates most is your Young Marshal Gu. Thank you!”
CP fans: “What are you two sides arguing about? Are the attitudes of the Young Marshal and the Goddess not obvious enough? Do they have to wait until they are married with children to notify you before you believe it?”
He Yu was at a loss for words. With a skeptical mind, she clicked on her own basic profile.
Most Hated Thing: Gu Jin.
They had even added the word “most.”
Abandoning the pointless argument, He Yu closed the voting page with a complicated mood and continued her transcription. When she reached the “Historical Achievements” section, she felt a sense of despair. There were fifteen pages covering fewer than a hundred battles, with no actual combat descriptions, only mindless praise.
Just as her head began to ache from writing, she heard slight footsteps behind her. Her reactions were slow due to the tedious task, and before she could respond, an exclamation rang out.
“Wow! Sis, you lied to me! You are clearly a little fan-girl of Young Marshal Gu!”
He Yu’s mind jolted. She scrambled to close the optical computer and stuffed the papers into her drawer, her face flushed with anger. “Do not talk nonsense!”
“Oh, Sis, what is there to be embarrassed about? If you do not like her, why are you hand-copying her personal profile? Even I have never copied it.” He Yi, however, refused to believe her, winking at her with a knowing expression.
“I just do not! I am copying this because…” She almost told the truth but braked just in time; she could not let anyone know Gu Jin had met her.
He Yu’s hesitation only confirmed He Yi’s suspicions. “I know. It is because you cannot save face and are too embarrassed to tell others, so you hide in your room to copy data. But Sis, do not look at this stuff; it is all fake and made up by those people. Go to the internal network. There are detailed explanations of every battle of the Young Marshal, along with precious recordings. Those are much better than this.”
He Yu felt that even with a hundred mouths, she could not clear her name. Looking at the non-stop talking He Yi, she slapped him on the back of the head. “Shut up! I said I do not like her, and that is that! Can I not practice my calligraphy? If you say one more word, I will let you experience the diversity of education.”
“Ouch! You hit me!” Ignoring her threat, He Yi wailed shamelessly. “My sister actually hit me! To think she would choose her lover over her brother! Life is no longer worth living! I am not even allowed to speak!”
He Yu quickly covered He Yi’s mouth. She truly wanted her brother, who was unreliable ninety percent of the time, to be reincarnated. But the priority now was to control him; if he kept wailing, her parents would be alerted, making things even harder to explain!
Unfortunately, it was too late. Her parents, hearing the noise, arrived to see He Yu pinning He Yi down, while He Yi did not even dare to struggle.
“He Yu, let go of your brother,” her mother said, seeing He Yi’s face turning red. After separating them, she asked, “What is this commotion about? You are both in your twenties, yet you are still fighting. He Yi, how did you provoke your sister this time?”
Knowing her son’s nature well, her mother immediately pointed the finger at him.
“I am being wronged! I just discovered that my sister likes Gu Jin, and now she wants to silence her brother and kill her kin!” He Yi spoke too fast for He Yu to stop him. He Yu glared at him and pinched his arm, twisting it ruthlessly.
“Ow! Mom, look, she is still pinching me!”
Just as He Yi was about to complain, He Yu pressed him back into his seat. Her face was flushed with anger. “I am not! I do not like Gu Jin! He Yi is talking nonsense!”
“Then why are you copying her profile?!”
“Is that any of your business?”
Seeing that they were about to argue again, her parents intervened. Her mother cleared her throat and said, “Actually… you are no longer children. We do not oppose you dating. Besides, Gu Jin helped us a great deal last time, and she is quite a decent person. As long as you like each other, we have no objections…”
“Mom! I truly do not!” He Yu glared at the culprit, He Yi. Now, everyone “knew.”
“Fine, fine, you do not. I am just saying that if you do like her, we will not oppose it. Actually, your father and I were the same back then. Being young and thin-skinned, we were too embarrassed.”
Seeing her mother’s understanding expression, He Yu felt a sense of despair. How was she supposed to explain this?
“He Yi, come here. You are not allowed to cause trouble anymore, do you understand? Especially not fighting with your sister like when you were children. You are grown up now.” Her mother scolded him lightly.
He Yi felt aggrieved. “Mom, clearly my sister hit me first. Now she strikes at the slightest disagreement and threatens me, yet you still side with her? I was beaten by her even when I was little; when have I ever dared to touch a finger of hers?”
“I think you have too few training tasks. Go to the gravity field and do a hundred laps of frog jumps. You are not allowed to eat until you finish. Go!” her father finally spoke, dragging his despondent son toward the gravity field.
Her mother wanted to chat more, but He Yu was no longer in the mood. Closing her door, she felt like dying. What was happening?!
Looking at the papers under her desk, He Yu wrapped herself in her blanket like a silkworm cocoon. This Gu Jin was truly her nemesis! Nothing good ever happened whenever it involved her!
As she thought this, He Yu suddenly sat up and motioned for her smart mirror to fly over. Looking at her vivid, angry expression, she held her face in horror.
Why were her temper and expressions becoming increasingly impulsive and uncontrollable?
