My Idol Turns Out To Be My Ex-Girlfriend - Chapter 23
“Bloody hell! You’re actually going to poach someone else’s partner? Sanyuan hasn’t done anything to you, has she?”
“No.” Tang Hengzhi pressed her lips together and replied evenly, “The one I’m poaching from… is your younger brother.”
Good lord above!!
Fireworks went off in He Wenyu’s head. She stammered, “You… what exactly are you trying to poach?”
“I…” Perhaps because it was her first time doing something so morally questionable, Tang Hengzhi hesitated.
It suddenly clicked for He Wenyu. She sprang up from the sofa as if her backside had caught fire, grabbed Tang Hengzhi by the collar, her face flushing red. “Bloody hell, bloody hell, bloody hell! I just realised, what was that about you drinking iced water earlier? What did that mean?!”
Her usually rusty brain finally sparked into life for once.
In this weather, she said she was hot?
Why hot? Why would she be hot?
As a seasoned lesbian, He Wenyu understood this far too well.
Tang Hengzhi turned her head slightly, lips pressed together.
He Wenyu completely fell apart. “Don’t you dare blush! Don’t you dare look all shy like that! Damn it—your whole aloof, untouchable goddess persona has completely collapsed!”
What had she done?!
She had personally delivered her younger brother’s official girlfriend… straight into the wolf’s den?
With how soft and clueless Lin Sanyuan was, and completely drunk on top of that, wouldn’t she be devoured until not even bones were left?
What had she said yesterday?! What did she say?
She said…
“You’re the straightest person alive, absolutely number one straight. So, I’ll leave my brother’s girlfriend with you tonight, you can sleep with her, right?”
And then she just… left them together. Didn’t even look back.
And she even said “right”!!!
Right my foot! What kind of idiotic thing had she done?
Tang Hengzhi was practically drowning in her barrage of spit. Frowning, she said quietly, “Lower your voice. She’s still asleep.”
Seeing her like this, He Wenyu finally realised she wasn’t joking.
Her expression turned blank with despair as she muttered, “What kind of mess is this…”
Ignoring her internal breakdown, Tang Hengzhi thought for a moment, then looked up at her and asked, quite sincerely, “So… how do you usually pursue girls?”
He Wenyu forced a stiff smile. “And what makes you think you can ask me that? Don’t even think about it. Even if you want to poach her, you’d have to succeed first. Sanyuan and my brother are doing great—she’s a straight girl you won’t be able to ‘turn’.”
Tang Hengzhi frowned. “How are you so sure she’s straight?”
He Wenyu thumped her chest. “My gaydar has never failed.”
Tang Hengzhi looked sceptical. “But yesterday you said I was… the straightest person alive?”
Clearly, not very accurate.
“Oi, don’t call me out like that.” He Wenyu puffed up in annoyance—no wonder she hadn’t responded last night.
But she didn’t forget the important part. Worried, she asked, “Last night, you didn’t… you know… sleep with her, did you? I’m telling you, even if you’re both women, that still counts as a crime.”
A newly ‘awakened’ lesbian probably wouldn’t even know how to sleep with a woman yet, right?
Tang Hengzhi didn’t like her wording and frowned. “Nothing happened last night.”
He Wenyu stared blankly.
Damn it… so she really does know what she’s doing.
When did she even realize she liked women? And so quietly too—she hadn’t noticed a single thing.
They’d known each other for over ten years. If she hadn’t heard this with her own ears today, she would’ve continued believing Tang Hengzhi was practically asexual.
And now she was saying she fancied a woman.
That woman just so happened to be her younger brother’s girlfriend.
He Wenyu tried very hard to process all of this.
Outside, dawn was breaking. Tang Hengzhi went to the kitchen to heat some milk.
Lin Sanyuan woke up, shoulders hunched, and came downstairs. She glanced around cautiously, then spotted someone in the kitchen. Looking awkward, she said, “Um…”
He Wenyu’s heart skipped a beat, shooting up into her throat.
Barefoot, she ran over to Lin Sanyuan in a panic. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell anywhere?”
As she spoke, she discreetly glanced at Lin Sanyuan’s neck and arms.
Checking for any suspicious marks.
The gaze was far too intense. Lin Sanyuan shrank back like a startled chick, hugging her arms to her chest and taking two wary steps back. She looked at the flamboyant woman with wine-red wavy hair in front of her and asked, a little frightened, “W-who are you?”
She’d forgotten to put on her glasses.
He Wenyu froze. There was no way she could go find her wig now. She gave an awkward laugh. “Me—He Wenyu. He Ye’s older sister.”
Lin Sanyuan was nearsighted, not blind. She stared for a while, her lips twitching. “Hello, big sister.”
How had her image changed so drastically overnight? Had her account been hacked?
She looked like He Ye himself had taken over.
And the way she ran over just now—so… husky-like.
He Wenyu felt equally awkward. Especially after knowing Tang Hengzhi wanted to steal her brother’s girlfriend, she could barely look Lin Sanyuan in the eye.
“Haha… so, what were you about to say?”
“Um…” Lin Sanyuan hunched slightly, wanting to head into the kitchen to find Tang Hengzhi.
Alarm bells rang in He Wenyu’s head. She stepped in front of her with a bright smile. “If you have any worries, you can talk to your big sister.”
Tang Hengzhi came out of the kitchen holding a glass of milk, handed it to Lin Sanyuan, and asked gently, “What’s wrong?”
Lin Sanyuan blushed slightly, stammering, “Um… big sister, did you… wear the wrong clothes?”
Tang Hengzhi paused and glanced down. “I don’t think so… these are mine.”
“No, not that…” Lin Sanyuan had just woken up, her eyes still slightly moist. “I mean… underneath…”
When she woke up and reached under her pillow for her clothes, her bra was gone!
Panicking, she searched the entire room, and eventually found a bra that wasn’t hers wedged between the bedside table and the bed.
So… who was wearing hers?
Tang Hengzhi frowned faintly, loosening her tie in silence, a hint of awkwardness on her face.
“I think I might’ve worn the wrong one.”
He Wenyu opened and closed her mouth several times, looking back and forth between the two of them.
***
After changing back into her own bra, Lin Sanyuan could still feel the lingering warmth of someone else’s body heat. Wearing it felt… oddly uncomfortable.
He Ye had been out fooling around all night, but still remembered to get up early and rush back. Riding his flashy motorbike, he brought back a big bag of breakfast. The moment he walked in, he saw everyone already up.
“Wow, you’re all up early. Come eat.”
He Wenyu’s gaze hooked onto him. “There’s food and ingredients in the fridge. You still went out to buy breakfast?”
She knew her brother too well. On weekends, unless the world was ending, he wouldn’t even get out of bed. And yet he’d actually gotten up early to buy breakfast?
“Well, my girlfriend’s here, isn’t she? She’s not used to sandwiches and milk, so I went to get her something else, what’s wrong with that?”
He Ye spoke with a straight face, spouting nonsense. He’d already eaten at Jiang Chuanwu’s place and had no interest in the food he bought just to appease his sister. Tossing the bag onto the table, he headed for his room to shower and catch up on sleep.
“He Ye, get your arse over here.” He Wenyu’s face darkened as she dragged him into the kitchen.
Seeing her expression, he felt uneasy. “What’s wrong, sis?”
“What’s this all over your neck?!”
The moment they entered the kitchen, she grabbed a large stainless-steel ladle and smacked him on the head, furious. “You’ve been out messing around all night, haven’t you? And you think you’re fit to have a girlfriend? With your behaviour, how am I supposed to stand tall and argue back at Tang Hengzhi on your behalf?!”
At this point, even she felt Tang Hengzhi had every right to try and steal him away, there was nothing she could say against it.
If this were some melodramatic TV plot, as a seasoned lesbian, she’d be rooting for it.
The aloof, untouchable beauty acting out a domineering yet restrained love—fighting, competing, stealing the girl away—slapping a cheating scumbag with one metaphorical green hat after another.
He parties outside, while she sleeps with his girlfriend in his sister’s house, wears her clothes, does whatever she pleases—and then politely and sincerely asks his sister how to court a girl.
Damn… the more she thought about it, the more this NTR storyline felt strangely thrilling.
He Wenyu was a tiny bit excited.
After breakfast, she offered to drive Lin Sanyuan home.
Knowing it would be hard to get a taxi from here, Lin Sanyuan accepted.
After her earlier blunder, He Wenyu couldn’t be bothered to keep up her gentle big-sister persona. She changed into a sleek black long coat, a white cropped top underneath, paired with black stockings and knee-high boots—elegant yet alluring.
She pressed the car key, and the red BMW in the yard beeped twice. She gestured for Lin Sanyuan to get in.
Lin Sanyuan obediently walked around and sat in the back seat.
He Wenyu blinked and smiled at her through the rear-view mirror. “Why not sit in the front?”
Lin Sanyuan gave an awkward laugh. “I ate a bit too much breakfast—I don’t feel like wearing a seatbelt.”
He Wenyu let out an “oh” and was about to start the car when the other rear door opened—Tang Hengzhi got in as well.
He Wenyu glared at her like she was a scheming weasel. “I’m taking her home. What are you getting in for?”
Tang Hengzhi replied, “Aren’t we going to the hospital for a follow-up today? I can’t drive.”
He Wenyu paused. “Oh… then why aren’t you sitting in the front?”
Yesterday, she’d sat in the passenger seat the whole way.
Tang Hengzhi looked down at her phone, sounding casual. “Mm, I get carsick. Don’t feel like wearing a seatbelt.”
He Wenyu was speechless.
Carsick, and sitting in the back?
She focused on driving. Lin Sanyuan genuinely did get carsick, so she stayed quiet, drifting off in thought.
Tang Hengzhi scrolled on her phone with one hand.
The car fell into an awkward silence.
He Wenyu hated this kind of quiet when there were multiple people, it made her uncomfortable.
“Ahem.” She cleared her throat and started a conversation. “So, Sanyuan, I heard you work at a new energy company? He Ye said you’re in design, and that you also draw comics on the side?”
“Ah—yes…”
