My Husband is Suspicious - Episode 45
“Eleanor, useless rumors will only tire you out. So…”
“Why are you stopping me so much?”
At those words, Dreid froze for a moment, looking at Eleanor. His gaze was so persistent that Eleanor subtly avoided it. When Eleanor averted her eyes, he slowly opened his mouth.
“You really don’t know?”
“Yes, anyway, it’s not dangerous…”
“Because I love you.”
“…”
There was a sense of sincerity in Dreid’s words, spoken in silence. So, Eleanor couldn’t say anything.
Why does love become the answer? Why is that love to him?
Eleanor didn’t understand. The magic tool was only collecting rumors, and it wasn’t actually physically dangerous.
“Dreid, this…”
“Eleanor, I just want you to be comfortable in this mansion. Without worrying about anything else, without getting stressed, just comfortable.”
“Comfortable?”
“Or you can just assemble the magic tool. Without turning it on like that.”
Eleanor couldn’t follow Dreid’s words. He was talking as if he was trying to control everything Eleanor did.
A comfortable life? That was a life Eleanor hadn’t had since her family fell. She couldn’t live like that now, giving up everything. Her heart was still uneasy, and there were still unresolved issues, so how could she live comfortably?
Eleanor shook her head.
“Dreid, I can’t do that.”
“Eleanor.”
“I quit my job and now I’m just staying in this mansion, I don’t think I can live that comfortably. No, I don’t think my life has ever been that comfortable in the first place. Not since that necklace disappeared.”
“…”
Dreid stared at Eleanor without a word. His eyes were coldly sunken. His brow was slightly furrowed, as if he was angry but barely holding back.
Eleanor turned her gaze away from him and looked at the magic tool. It was still shining brightly in purple. Maybe that magic tool would barely give her some breathing room.
As much as the mansion was attacked last time, the Crown Prince’s threat was still there. Since she couldn’t go outside, it would be good to operate it like that to hear rumors and collect information about Mackiv.
Then Dreid said.
“If you want to do that, then do it.”
It was a low, sunken voice. When Eleanor turned her head, he continued.
“But it would be better not to touch that bastard’s rumors with that magic tool.”
“Why?”
At Eleanor’s question, Dreid chuckled. Then he slowly met Eleanor’s eyes and said.
“I want you to only look at me. Without worrying about other bastards, just me.”
His bright blue eyes flashed particularly. Eleanor felt like her shoulders were shrinking for some reason. It felt like the surrounding air had slightly sunk.
Eleanor nodded for now. Anyway, Dreid wouldn’t know. Unless you were a skilled technician, there was no way to know what rumors you heard with this magic tool.
When Eleanor nodded obediently, Dreid smiled as if nothing had happened. He said to Eleanor in a soft voice.
“Eleanor, aren’t you hungry? I made food, but it looks like it’s going to get cold.”
Then he turned his body. Eleanor followed him downstairs. As she walked down the stairs, she wondered if this was the right thing to do. After all, she was deceiving him.
But Eleanor was worried about Mackiv, who had no news, and she was concerned that Dreid might be involved. So, tracking Mackiv’s rumors was inevitable.
‘Dreid hasn’t told me everything either.’
Eleanor came to that conclusion.

There was quite a lot to eat on the table. There was apple salad, pickled apples, and bread with apple jam. The bread was still steaming, as if it had just been baked. In the center, the purple lisianthus was still alive and vibrant, not losing its light.
Eleanor looked at the purple lisianthus and said.
“Dreid. Do you know what the language of lisianthus flowers is?”
Dreid said as he sat down in his chair.
“Unchanging love.”
He knew it well. Maybe that’s why he sent a flower basket to the request office with a note saying thank you for marrying me back then. Eleanor didn’t bring that flower basket to the mansion. It was probably withering away in a corner of the request office by now.
Then and now, Eleanor couldn’t completely trust Dreid. Once you start suspecting, there’s no end to it. She tried to think comfortably for a while, but now it felt like she had come too far to think that way.
Then Dreid said.
“I hope we don’t change either.”
Eleanor nodded. Someday, she hoped that all her suspicions about him would be proven false. Including the Mackiv thing. She hoped that Dreid wasn’t a bad person.
Eleanor ate in silence. It was delicious, so her stomach wasn’t too upset. But for some reason, the surrounding atmosphere seemed to have sunk. Dreid didn’t say much today. Of course, he wasn’t a very talkative person.
Eleanor didn’t want to bring up everyday stories either. She just silently agreed with the sunken atmosphere. The sound of chewing food seemed particularly loud. Eleanor glanced at Dreid, who was sitting in front of her.
At that moment, their eyes met. He smiled. Eleanor quickly averted her gaze. Dreid was still watching Eleanor. Unconsciously focusing on the food, she didn’t seem to feel his gaze.
After meeting Dreid’s eyes, Eleanor was more conscious of him. It was even more so because he wasn’t saying anything. But Eleanor silently just put the remaining food in her mouth.
Before she knew it, almost all the food in front of her had disappeared. Only then did Dreid say.
“Did you eat everything?”
“I ate well.”
Eleanor gave a faint smile and got up from her seat. Then she helped him clear the table. After clearing the table to some extent, Dreid naturally wrapped his arm around Eleanor’s waist. Then he hugged Eleanor as she was. His face was buried in Eleanor’s shoulder.
“Eleanor, you’re all I have.”
His breath touched the back of her neck. Eleanor ignored her wildly beating heart and slowly opened her mouth.
“Dreid, why suddenly…”
“I just suddenly wanted to do this.”
A low laugh rang out. Eleanor felt his body temperature for a moment. He seemed to have a fever since morning. Eleanor’s leg moved slightly to the right. Then Dreid let go.
He looked at Eleanor for a moment and then kissed her forehead. As his soft lips fell away, Dreid smiled and met Eleanor’s eyes.
His bright blue eyes looked lonely and cold like a deep lake.
“Eleanor, I was waiting for your call.”
“Call?”
Eleanor thought for a moment, wondering what he meant, and then remembered what he had said yesterday morning. He told her to call him when she was bored. Eleanor hesitated and opened her mouth.
“It’s not that I didn’t do it on purpose. I just thought it would be better to talk in person.”
At that moment, something touched her lips. The lips that fell with a touch were quite soft. It touched so quickly that there was no time to be surprised. When she looked up, he smiled and met Eleanor’s eyes.
“I’ll be waiting for your call this time too.”
Eleanor didn’t really like phone calls in general. That was because she couldn’t see the other person’s expression through their voice, and it felt awkward to talk on the phone.
Nevertheless, she had immediately expressed her gratitude to Dreid over the phone before. She had acted so naturally back then.
She was avoiding phone calls again now, but she couldn’t help it because Dreid said that. She could make a phone call once in a while. Moreover, she had to because he said he was waiting. Eventually, Eleanor nodded.
Dreid slowly moved away from Eleanor. Then he walked to the door. Eleanor followed him to see him off. It was only a few steps anyway.
“Eleanor, I’ll be back.”
Dreid stood at the door. His shirt still had the pin clip on it. Eleanor looked at the pin clip and then raised her eyes. He pulled Eleanor in as soon as their eyes met, as if he wanted Eleanor to look at him.
“Dreid?”
As Eleanor said in embarrassment, the corners of his lips curved smoothly.
“The pin clip you gave me is nice, but I want you to look at me now.”
Then he kissed Eleanor’s cheek. Then his lips slowly came close to touching Eleanor’s lips. Eleanor slightly twisted her face. His hand, which had been resting on her waist, stopped.
“Dreid, don’t you have to go to work now?”
As Eleanor took a breath and spoke, he slowly took his hand off Eleanor’s waist. He chuckled as if he was making a hollow laugh and moved slightly away from Eleanor.
“Eleanor, are you worried about me going to work?”
“You were late yesterday, so you shouldn’t be late again today.”
Dreid didn’t argue with Eleanor’s words and just smiled. Eleanor seemed to know the meaning of that smile vaguely. Then Dreid said.
“No one can say anything even if I’m late.”
“…”
“That’s the kind of position I’m in.”
“Still, other people work together, so it’s not good if you’re the only one who’s late.”
Eleanor said plausibly. Dreid didn’t bother to say that he was the Emperor’s illegitimate child, so Eleanor pretended not to know. Maybe Dreid really wanted to hide that fact.
“Then I’ll go quickly.”
Dreid smiled and turned his body. As he left the mansion, Eleanor stood by the window.
His secretary, Pael, got out of the carriage and greeted Dreid. He naturally received the greeting and got into the carriage. Soon Pael followed and got in, and the carriage departed.
Watching the carriage leave, Eleanor sighed. This was the time she would be at the request office. Even though there wasn’t much work, she had been living a regular life. But now that she was only staying in the mansion, she felt stuffy in her heart for no reason.
