My Husband is Suspicious - Episode 38
“Dreid, you’re going to be late. Isn’t that why that person is looking for you?”
“I’m okay even if I’m late.”
Dreid said it as if it was nothing. He was really relaxed. Seeing that, Eleanor felt that Dreid really had a lot of shares in Finn Bank. That’s why he’s so relaxed.
But still, being this late wasn’t good. Eleanor pushed Dreid’s back.
“Dreid, hurry up and go. And if I wake up late, go to work first. I’ll take care of myself.”
Dreid pretended to be pushed, then stopped in an instant and grabbed her hand. When Eleanor looked up, he kissed her lightly on the lips.
“…Dreid.”
As Eleanor blankly spoke, he smiled and said.
“Eleanor, someone will come to cook lunch. Make sure to eat well.”
“Don’t worry about me. By the way, are you really okay?”
“I’m okay because you’re worried about me.”
Then Dreid fiddled with Eleanor’s hand for a moment before slowly letting go.
“I’ll be back.”
Eleanor smiled and nodded. He smiled back at Eleanor’s smile and left the mansion. As he left, the mansion became quiet in an instant. Eleanor walked towards the window.
She saw Dreid riding in a carriage with the coachman. Soon the carriage departed. Before she knew it, the front of the mansion was quiet.
Eleanor looked at the closed iron gate and then turned her gaze to the garden. Some people were working in the garden, having arrived at some point. They were digging up soil and planting flowers. They were quite unique flowers, with black petals. It was as if they were made of iron.
‘Did Dreid order new flowers?’
The black flowers were unique, but not bad. Eleanor watched them for a while before slowly scanning her surroundings. Then she saw people with guns.
Suddenly, Eleanor became curious.
‘If I try to leave this mansion, will those people stop me?’
Thinking that, she strangely felt trapped. They were standing there to protect this place, but she also felt like they were there to monitor her.
But it was an absurd thought. Eleanor found it funny that she had such thoughts. Dreid was clearly preparing for a situation that might happen. The Crown Prince was trying to threaten even Eleanor, so it was natural to be careful.
Eleanor now wanted to trust Dreid. She had spent too much emotion a few days ago, and the scene she saw at the cafe was just a misunderstanding after all. Eleanor was relieved by that one fact alone. At least he didn’t seem to have other intentions.
When you think about it, Dreid was always the same. Without changing.
‘He seems unusually aggressive these days…’
But that wasn’t so bad either. It was just a little embarrassing. But she felt like she would get used to it someday.
Eleanor stopped thinking at that point and turned around. Even so, her heart was still uneasy. She still remembered what happened at the Delfos Hotel. In a way, Dreid revealed the facts too easily. Even though he could have said it in advance. That still bothered her.
And also, Mackiv, who suddenly disappeared.
‘Where on earth did Mackiv go?’
Eleanor headed to the office upstairs. She had to fix the magic tool quickly in order to gather information about Mackiv in the future.
________________________________________
The office was still messy. Eleanor walked past the scattered papers and books and sat in the chair. In front of the desk was the magic tool that had not yet been repaired. Eleanor stared at the desk for a moment before looking at the center of the room.
The magic tool, still glowing faintly with green light, had no reaction. It was always the same reaction. Strangely, Eleanor felt even more depressed today.
She didn’t know Mackiv’s whereabouts, nor the necklace’s whereabouts. In fact, she had been looking for the family necklace for a long time, but there had been no significant reaction.
Perhaps it was a natural result. When it was stolen, she didn’t even know that the necklace was missing. But suddenly, as the family fell apart, she belatedly realized that the necklace was gone. Clearly, a meticulous guy had stolen the necklace.
‘So that’s why I haven’t found it yet.’
In fact, Eleanor had half given up. She had been looking for the necklace since she started working as a treasure requestor. But she still hadn’t found it.
Judging from the fact that the magic tool hasn’t reacted much so far, it seems like it has disappeared from this world altogether. Nevertheless, Eleanor always kept the magic tool on, hoping that it would react someday.
Eleanor stared blankly at the magic tool emitting a faint green light before turning her gaze back to the desk. Then she calmly began to repair the magic tool. She had to reassemble and fit the broken parts here and there. She wanted to calm her mind and find out where Mackiv was.
Her hands moved quite quickly. It was even more so because she was used to touching magic tools.
Eleanor was working on the magic tool for a long time when she suddenly looked up. Lunchtime was already approaching.
She was staring blankly at the clock when suddenly a loud noise was heard. Eleanor was startled and got up from her seat. When she stood by the window, the garden was filled with fog. It was as if someone had deliberately created smoke, and she couldn’t see anything below. In the midst of that, she heard the loud noise from earlier, which sounded like a gunshot.
Her heart was pounding violently, and her blood felt cold. Eleanor stared intently below with a stiff face. Red flames were erupting from the gray fog.
Judging from the continuous sounds, it seemed like a gunfight was taking place down there.
At that moment, a bullet flew towards the window with a loud noise. Eleanor quickly ducked. But the surroundings were quiet.
‘Did the bullet not bounce?’
Eleanor carefully raised her head. Surprisingly, the window was fine. It was clear that the bullet was headed this way.
But before she could even think that, gunshots rang out loudly. Her hands trembled at the continuous gunshots.
‘What’s going on? What on earth is happening?’
It wasn’t easy to get up. The mansion, which she thought was the safest place, was turning into a dangerous space. Then she remembered what Dreid had said. That the Crown Prince was now becoming a threat to her. Only then did she realize that the Crown Prince was a threat. She had been too complacent all along.
Eleanor barely calmed her mind and reached for the phone on the desk. Anyway, she had to let Dreid know about this. Eleanor barely ducked and picked up the phone. She immediately called Dreid. But Dreid didn’t answer, only the ringing tone went on.
Unable to do anything, Eleanor put down the phone. Then she left the room. She thought she should at least lock the door properly. Her hands trembled as she went down the stairs. Her head was shaking abnormally, as if she was walking on clouds.
Eleanor grabbed the railing for a moment and sighed. She barely caught her breath and went down the stairs. Then she quickly approached the door. She barely arrived at the door and was about to check the doorknob, fumbling, when.
Suddenly, the door opened. Eleanor was startled and stepped back. The person in front of her was someone familiar.
“Dreid.”
Dreid’s hair was disheveled, as if he had rushed here. She smelled a strong gunpowder smell from him. Dreid immediately cocked his gun and said.
“Eleanor, stay inside the mansion first.”
Dreid pushed Eleanor inside as if embracing her. As the door closed, Eleanor asked.
“Dreid, how did you get here? The people outside…”
His handsome eyebrows furrowed. He held Eleanor’s hand tightly and took her to the drawing room. The sound of bullets ricocheting outside was still loud.
Eleanor was about to turn her head towards the window when. Dreid’s lips touched her cheek. As Eleanor looked at him questioningly, Dreid led Eleanor to the sofa. He gave her shoulder a little force, as if wanting Eleanor to sit on the sofa.
“You’ll be okay. Just wait here for a bit.”
But Eleanor didn’t sit on the sofa and just looked at him.
“Is this the Crown Prince’s doing?”
Dreid let out a faint sigh and nodded. Eleanor wasn’t that surprised because she had expected it from the beginning. Rather, she realized once again that the Crown Prince was such a threatening presence. She seemed to have been too complacent all along.
Dreid lightly swept back his fallen hair and looked at Eleanor.
“Eleanor, I’ll take care of it and come back soon. First, because those guys are running wild outside.”
As Dreid was about to go straight to the door, Eleanor grabbed his arm.
“Dreid.”
He stopped walking. As Dreid slowly turned his head, Eleanor pulled his arm closer to her.
“You’re in danger.”
Dreid raised his gaze and met Eleanor’s eyes. The corners of his lips turned up slightly. Eleanor even felt strange that he was smiling in this situation.
But before she could think any further, Dreid came closer. He immediately cupped Eleanor’s cheeks and lowered his head to kiss her lips. Before Eleanor could even back away, Dreid’s tongue wrapped around her mouth and came in deeper.
Eleanor ignored her pounding heart and hit his chest. His lips parted with difficulty, and his breath touched her lips. Dreid chuckled and wiped around Eleanor’s lips with his thumb.
He stared at Eleanor’s lips for a moment before raising his gaze. His bright blue eyes shone, solely capturing Eleanor.
“I’m only in danger when you don’t love me. Not because of the guys outside.”
His handsome lip line turned up nicely. As Eleanor blankly looked at him without answering, he continued.
“Eleanor, if only you love me, I won’t die.”
He said that and immediately went outside. Eleanor didn’t even have time to grab his arm. In an instant, the door slammed shut.
Eleanor quickly stood by the window. The fog had now cleared to some extent around her. The guns pointed at each other were very visible.
