My Husband is Suspicious - Episode 36
Eleanor leaned against the wooden wall for a moment. The wooden wall, which had definitely been cold just a moment ago, didn’t feel like anything now. She looked around the mansion. Nothing had changed. But somehow, it felt a little different. It was strange.
‘It definitely seems the same…’
Is it because of the people outside? It kind of felt like that. Eleanor turned and looked out the window. They were standing there with large guns, looking ahead. They were also heavily armed. It was a bit sudden.
It hadn’t bothered her before, but she wondered if they really had to go this far. But Dreid was worried, so there was nothing she could do. After all, the Crown Prince could pose a threat.
‘How has Dreid been doing all this time?’
She heard the Crown Prince wanted to kill Dreid.
Why on earth would the Crown Prince want to kill Dreid?
Simply because Dreid was the Emperor’s illegitimate child?
But Dreid wasn’t the only illegitimate child of the Emperor. There was also Sertin. She was his half-sister, wasn’t she? Besides, the Crown Prince was already in a position to succeed the Emperor. Why would he, who had already solidified his position as Crown Prince, want to kill Dreid?
“Eleanor.”
Eleanor was startled and looked up. Dreid was already standing in front of her.
“The food is ready.”
Eleanor calmed her surprised heart and nodded. Dreid smiled and said,
“I made a simple apple sandwich, is that okay?”
“That sounds delicious.”
Eleanor said that and headed to the kitchen. When she went to the kitchen, a neat sandwich was placed on the large dining table. Dreid had good cooking skills. He pulled out a chair for Eleanor to sit on.
“Thank you.”
Eleanor said with a smile and slowly sat down in the chair. As soon as she did, Dreid went to the opposite side and sat down.
“I added apple sauce and apple jam. I saw you eating it deliciously back then, so I made it again.”
Dreid seemed to remember exactly what Eleanor had eaten in the past. Eleanor looked at the generous sandwich and took a bite. Instantly, a smile spread across Eleanor’s face. The unique scent of the apple jam was especially good.
“I think it’s even more delicious than before?”
Eleanor’s voice naturally rose. Dreid laughed.
“Is it that good?”
“Yes. Dreid, thank you.”
Dreid nodded and smiled. He crossed his arms and didn’t take his eyes off Eleanor. He didn’t even touch the food, as if he really wasn’t going to eat dinner. Eleanor finished what she was eating and asked him.
“By the way, why aren’t you eating dinner? Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you eat much.”
“I get full even if I don’t eat much.”
“Why?”
“Just watching you eat.”
“Dreid, that’s…”
Dreid chuckled. He was joking. Eleanor asked him just in case.
“You’re not feeling unwell, are you?”
“No. I don’t like eating a lot, and I’ve been eating like that since I was young, so it’s become a habit.”
“What did you eat when you were young that it became a habit?”
Eleanor said as she took another bite of the sandwich. Dreid slowly opened his mouth.
“I mainly ate fruit…”
“Then you must like apples.”
When Eleanor said brightly, Dreid looked at her for a moment. He stared at Eleanor intently, then smiled and nodded.
“Yes, I like them. Very much.”
Eleanor felt good when Dreid said he liked apples. It was better that he picked one thing and said he liked it, rather than just saying he liked everything.
Dreid continued to watch Eleanor eat. He seemed full just by looking at her. Eleanor looked at him for a moment. Every time their eyes met, Dreid smiled.
‘So, all this time, he was just pretending to eat dinner with me.’
Now, Dreid didn’t seem to be hiding the fact that he didn’t eat dinner. Maybe he wanted a natural meal with her. But now that Eleanor knew the truth about him, he didn’t seem to bother eating.
Eleanor felt his gaze and ate the sandwich. It wasn’t uncomfortable. Rather, she liked that he was smiling and watching her. Before she knew it, the sandwich was gone from her hand.
“Did you finish it all?”
Dreid asked, quick to notice. Eleanor said with a smile.
“I enjoyed it. Thank you.”
“I’m grateful that you ate so much after a long time.”
Then Dreid naturally got up and cleared the table. Eleanor helped him. Then, Eleanor inadvertently touched the vase on the table.
Instantly, the flowers in the vase spilled out. Water overflowed on the table, and the yellow tulips in the vase scattered on the table.
“Eleanor, are you okay?”
Dreid naturally touched Eleanor’s hand.
“I’m okay.”
Eleanor was fine because she wasn’t hurt anywhere. She was just embarrassed that she had suddenly made such a mistake. Dreid fiddled with Eleanor’s wet hand. His fingers touched Eleanor’s hand and got wet.
He looked around to see if Eleanor was hurt anywhere. Since the glass wasn’t broken, she wasn’t hurt. Only her hand was wet.
Dreid had looked all over, but he was still holding Eleanor’s hand. He slowly rubbed her wet palm with his thumb. Instantly, Eleanor pulled her hand away, feeling ticklish.
Dreid looked up. His blue eyes were quite dark.
“Eleanor, you’re wet.”
“I can just wipe it off.”
Eleanor turned around as if nothing had happened. Instantly, Dreid wrapped his arms around Eleanor’s waist. He hugged Eleanor from behind.
Dreid took a breath near Eleanor’s neck for a moment. She could feel his breath as it was. It was ticklish and hot.
Eleanor felt her heart beating faster and faster. Dreid didn’t lift his head from Eleanor’s neck. He smelled Eleanor’s scent like that for a while.
Then Dreid said.
“Eleanor, should I quit my job?”
A languid voice rang in her ear. Eleanor felt a ticklish sensation in her stomach and was momentarily breathless. Then the words he said slowly entered her mind.
“…Why suddenly the job?”
“Because I want to be with you all the time.”
“But you have things you need to do.”
“I have enough money so that you and I won’t starve.”
Dreid whispered softly in her ear. It felt like her fine hairs were standing on end. Eleanor thought about what he had said. He no longer hid anything about himself. Well, there was no reason to hide it.
Eleanor held her breath for a moment and then slowly exhaled.
“Dreid, you’ll be bored if you’re just in the mansion.”
Eleanor thought of the mansion where only the two of them were. Even now, only Dreid’s faint breathing could be heard, and it was as quiet as a mouse. Moreover, now that Mrs. Beckade was gone, the mansion seemed to be filled with loneliness.
Then Dreid said slowly. As if he were talking about a matter that needed to be carefully considered.
“What about a child, Eleanor?”
“……”
Eleanor didn’t answer. The situation was still uncomfortable and dark to think about having a baby. It still felt like there were dark clouds all around. It wasn’t raining, but it felt like clouds that could rain at any time were floating around.
The McKibbe affair, and the Crown Prince affair, didn’t seem to be completely resolved…
When Eleanor didn’t answer, Dreid smiled faintly and slowly moved away. The moment he moved away, a cool air wrapped around her body. Eleanor pretended to be okay and wiped her hand on the towel hanging next to her.
Her hand dried quickly, as if the moisture had disappeared. Eleanor glanced at the table. Dreid mercilessly threw away the scattered flowers. Yellow tulips were also mixed in there. Surprisingly, the tulips were fresh and not mushy.
‘Those tulips, it seems like they’ve been here for quite a while…’
When Eleanor focused on the yellow tulips that had already gone into the trash can, Dreid said.
“Eleanor, I’ll buy new flowers tomorrow. The ones you like.”
Eleanor looked up. He smiled and lightly kissed Eleanor on the cheek.
“Go upstairs. I’ll clean up the rest.”
Reluctantly, Eleanor nodded and left the kitchen. There was a luggage bag from the request office in front of the kitchen. Eleanor picked up the luggage bag and went up the stairs. The stairs were quiet without any creaking sounds.
Eleanor naturally headed to the bedroom. Then she suddenly stopped and stared blankly at the luggage bag in her hand. It seemed like she should organize the luggage bag in the study. Eleanor moved her steps to the study.
When she opened the door, she immediately saw piles of papers rolling around. There was a bag in front of the desk that she had left after going to Delfos.
Come to think of it, Dreid’s pin clip still had a tracker on it.
‘When should I take it off…?’
Dreid was wearing that pin clip this morning too. Eleanor bit her lip with an uneasy feeling. She didn’t need it anymore. Moreover, she hadn’t told Dreid that she had put a tracker on him. She also felt like she was deceiving him.
‘Should I tell him honestly?’
Honestly, there was nothing harmful to Eleanor in telling him. After all, Dreid had been deceiving her all along. She had put a tracker on him because of that, so Eleanor had something to say too.
So, if Dreid hadn’t done anything that would make her suspicious in the first place, Eleanor wouldn’t have put a tracker on him. Even on a 2nd wedding anniversary gift.
Eleanor let out a faint sigh.
‘I wish I had just put a tracker on a normal gift…’
She was still bothered by that at the time, but she had no choice. Somehow, the fact that it was a 2nd wedding anniversary gift bothered her.
But it was already in the past, so there was nothing she could do. Still, it seemed like it would be easier to honestly tell Dreid that she had put a tracker on him.
Anyway, she made up her mind and cleared the scattered papers and sat down in the chair. There was still a magic tool on the desk that she hadn’t been able to fix. Eleanor carefully collected the magic tool and opened the drawer. It seemed like her head would hurt too much to put it together now.
Instead, she was planning to repair the magic tool she brought from the request office this time. The magic tool she had been working on for a long time hadn’t been fixed no matter what she did.
